1. ఆ సంగతులు జరిగినతరువాత దేవుడు అబ్రాహామును పరిశోధించెను. ఎట్లనగా ఆయన అబ్రాహామా, అని పిలువగా అతడు చిత్తము ప్రభువా అనెను.

1. And it cared to pass after these things, that God, did prove Abraham, and he said unto him, Abraham! And he said Behold me!

2. అప్పుడాయన నీకు ఒక్కడైయున్న నీ కుమారుని, అనగా నీవు ప్రేమించు ఇస్సాకును తీసికొని మోరీయా దేశమునకు వెళ్లి అక్కడ నేను నీతో చెప్పబోవు పర్వతములలో ఒకదానిమీద దహనబలిగా అతని నర్పించుమని చెప్పెను

2. And he said Take, I pray thee, thy son, thine only one, whom thou lovest, even, Isaac, and get thee into the land of Moriah and cause him to ascend there as an ascending-sacrifice, on one of the mountains which I shall name unto thee.

3. తెల్లవారినప్పుడు అబ్రాహాము లేచి తన గాడిదకు గంత కట్టి తన పనివారిలో ఇద్దరిని తన కుమారుడగు ఇస్సాకును వెంటబెట్టుకొని దహనబలి కొరకు కట్టెలు చీల్చి, లేచి దేవుడు తనతో చెప్పిన చోటికి వెళ్లెను.

3. So Abraham rose early in the morning, and saddled his ass, and took his two young men with him, and Isaac his son, and clave the pieces of wood for an ascending-sacrifice, and mounted and went his way unto the place which God had named to him.

4. మూడవ నాడు అబ్రాహాము కన్నులెత్తి దూరమునుండి ఆ చోటు చూచి

4. It was, on the third day, that Abraham lifted up his eyes, and saw the place afar off.

5. తన పని వారితో మీరు గాడిదతో ఇక్కడనే ఉండుడి; నేనును ఈ చిన్నవాడును అక్కడికి వెళ్లి (దేవునికి) మ్రొక్కి మరల మీయొద్దకు వచ్చెదమని చెప్పి

5. And Abraham said unto his young men Tarry by yourselves here with the ass, but I and the young man must go yonder, that we may bow ourselves down and return unto you.

6. దహనబలికి కట్టెలు తీసికొని తన కుమారుడగు ఇస్సాకుమీద పెట్టి తన చేతితో నిప్పును కత్తిని పట్టుకొని పోయెను. వారిద్దరు కూడి వెళ్లుచుండగా

6. So Abraham took the pieces of wood for the ascending-sacrifice, and laid them on Isaac his son, and took in his own hand the fire and the knife, and they went on their way, both of them together.

7. ఇస్సాకు తన తండ్రియైన అబ్రాహాముతో నా తండ్రీ అని పిలిచెను; అందుకతడు ఏమి నా కుమారుడా అనెను. అప్పుడతడు నిప్పును కట్టెలును ఉన్నవిగాని దహనబలికి గొఱ్ఱెపిల్ల ఏది అని అడుగగా

7. Then said Isaac unto Abraham his father, then said he; My father! And he said, Behold me, my son, And he said, Behold the fire, and the pieces of wood, but where is the lamb, for an ascending-sacrifice?

8. అబ్రాహాము నాకుమారుడా, దేవుడే దహనబలికి గొఱ్ఱెపిల్లను చూచుకొనునని చెప్పెను.

8. And Abraham said, God, will provide for himself the lamb for an ascending-sacrifice, my son! So they went on their way, both of them, together.

9. ఆలాగు వారిద్దరు కూడి వెళ్లి దేవుడు అతనితో చెప్పినచోటికి వచ్చినప్పుడు అబ్రాహాము అక్కడ బలి పీఠమును కట్టి కట్టెలు చక్కగా పేర్చి తన కుమారుడగు ఇస్సాకును బంధించి ఆ పీఠముపైనున్న కట్టెలమీద ఉంచెను.

9. Then came they into the place which God had named to him, and Abraham built there the altar, and aid in order the pieces of wood, and bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar, above the pieces of wood.

10. అప్పుడు అబ్రాహాము తన కుమారుని వధించుటకు తన చెయ్యి చాపి కత్తి పట్టుకొనగా

10. And Abraham put forth his hand, and took the knife, to slay his son.

11. యెహోవా దూత పరలోకమునుండి అబ్రాహామా అబ్రాహామా అని అతని పిలిచెను; అందుకతడు చిత్తము ప్రభువా అనెను.

11. Then called out unto him the messenger of Yahweh out of the heavens, and said. Abraham, Abraham! And he said Behold me!

12. అప్పుడు ఆయన ఆ చిన్నవాని మీద చెయ్యి వేయకుము; అతని నేమియు చేయకుము; నీకు ఒక్కడైయున్న నీ కుమారుని నాకియ్య వెనుతీయ లేదు గనుక నీవు దేవునికి భయపడువాడవని యిందువలన నాకు కనపడుచున్నదనెను

12. Then he said, Do not put forth thy hand unto the young man, neither do to him anything at all, for, now, know I that one who reverest God, thou art, when thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only one, from me.

13. అప్పుడు అబ్రాహాము కన్ను లెత్తి చూడగా పొదలో కొమ్ములు తగులుకొనియున్న ఒక పొట్టేలు వెనుక తట్టున కనబడెను. అబ్రాహాము వెళ్లి ఆ పొట్టేలును పట్టుకొని తన కుమారునికి మారుగా పెట్టి దహనబలిగా అర్పించెను

13. And Abraham lifted up his eyes and looked, and lo! a ram, behind, caught in a thicket by his horns, and Abraham went, and took the ram, and caused him to ascend as an ascending-sacrifice instead of his son.

14. అబ్రాహాము ఆ చోటికి యెహోవా యీరే అను పేరు పెట్టెను. అందుచేత యెహోవా పర్వతము మీద చూచుకొనును అని నేటి వరకు చెప్పబడును.

14. So Abraham called the name of that place Yahweh, as to which it is still said to-day, In the mountain of Yahweh, will provision be made.

15. యెహోవా దూత రెండవ మారు పరలోకమునుండి అబ్రాహామును పిలిచి యిట్లనెను

15. Then called out the messenger of Yahweh unto Abraham, a second time out of the heavens;

16. నీవు నీకు ఒక్కడే అయ్యున్న నీ కుమారుని ఇయ్య వెనుకతీయక యీ కార్యము చేసినందున

16. and said, By myself, have I sworn is the oracle of Yahweh, Because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only one,

17. నేను నిన్ను ఆశీర్వదించి ఆకాశ నక్షత్రముల వలెను సముద్రతీరమందలి యిసుకవలెను నీ సంతానమును నిశ్చయముగా విస్తరింపచేసెదను; నీ సంతతి వారు తమ శత్రువుల గవిని స్వాధీనపరచుకొందురు.

17. That I will, richly bless, thee, and, abundantly multiply, thy seed, as the stars of the heavens, and as the sand which is on the lip of the sea, that thy seed may take possession of the gate of his foes:

18. మరియు నీవు నా మాట వినినందున భూలోకములోని జనములన్నియు నీ సంతానమువలన ఆశీర్వదించబడును నాతోడని ప్రమాణము చేసియున్నానని యెహోవా సెలవిచ్చెననెను.

18. So shall all the nations of the earth bless themselves in thy seed, Because thou didst hearken unto my voice.

19. తరువాత అబ్రాహాము తన పనివారి యొద్దకు తిరిగి రాగా వారు లేచి అందరును కలిసి బెయేర్షెబాకు వెళ్లిరి. అబ్రాహాము బెయేర్షెబాలో నివసించెను.

19. So Abraham returned unto his young men, and they mounted, and went on their way together unto Beer-sheba, and Abraham dwelt in Beer-sheba.

20. ఆ సంగతులు జరిగిన తరువాత అబ్రాహామునకు తెలుపబడినదేమనగా మిల్కా అను ఆమెయు నీ సహోదరుడగు నాహోరునకు పిల్లలను కనెను.

20. And it came to pass after these things, that it was told Abraham, saying, Behold! Milcah she also, hath borne sons, to Nahor thy brother:

21. వారు ఎవరెవరనగా అతని జ్యేష్టకుమారుడైన ఊజు, ఇతని తమ్ముడైన బూజు, అరాము తండ్రియైన కెమూయేలు,

21. Uz his firstborn and Buz his brother, and Kemuel, father of Aram

22. కెసెదు, హజో, షిల్దాషు, యిద్లాపు, బెతూయేలు. బెతూయేలు రిబ్కాను కనెను.

22. and Chesed and Hazo, and Pildash, and Jidlaph, and Bethuel;

23. ఆ యెనిమిది మందిని మిల్కా అబ్రాహాము సహోదరుడగు నాహోరునకు కనెను.

23. And, Bethuel, hath begotten Rebekah, These eight, hath Milcah borne to Nahor brother of Abraham.

24. మరియు రయూమా అను అతని, ఉపపత్నియు తెబహును, గహమును తహషును మయకాను కనెను.

24. And his concubine, whose name was Reumah, she also, hath borne Tebah and Gaham, and Tahash, and Maacah.
