1. అబ్రాహాము దినములలో వచ్చిన మొదటి కరవు గాక మరియొక కరవు ఆ దేశములో వచ్చెను. అప్పడు ఇస్సాకు గెరారులోనున్న ఫిలిష్తీయుల రాజైన అబీమెలెకు నొద్దకు వెళ్లెను.

1. There was a famine in the land, as bad as the famine during the time of Abraham. And Isaac went down to Abimelech, king of the Philistines, in Gerar.

2. అక్కడ యెహోవా అతనికి ప్రత్యక్షమై నీవు ఐగుప్తులోనికి వెళ్లక నేను నీతో చెప్పు దేశమందు నివసించుము.

2. GOD appeared to him and said, 'Don't go down to Egypt; stay where I tell you.

3. ఈ దేశమందు పరవాసివై యుండుము. నేను నీకు తోడైయుండి నిన్ను ఆశీర్వదించెదను;

3. Stay here in this land and I'll be with you and bless you. I'm giving you and your children all these lands, fulfilling the oath that I swore to your father Abraham.

4. ఏలయనగా నీకును నీ సంతానమునకును ఈ దేశములన్నియు ఇచ్చి, నీ తండ్రియైన అబ్రాహాముతో నేను చేసిన ప్రమాణము నెరవేర్చి, ఆకాశ నక్షత్రములవలె నీ సంతానమును విస్తరింపచేసి ఈ దేశములన్నియు నీ సంతానమునకు ఇచ్చెదను. నీ సంతానమువలన సమస్త భూలోకములోని సమస్త జనులు ఆశీర్వదింపబడుదురు.

4. I'll make your descendants as many as the stars in the sky and give them all these lands. All the nations of the Earth will get a blessing for themselves through your descendants.

5. ఏలయనగా అబ్రాహాము నా మాట విని నేను విధించిన దాని నా ఆజ్ఞలను నా కట్టడలను నా నియమములను గైకొనెనని చెప్పెను.

5. And why? Because Abraham obeyed my summons and kept my charge--my commands, my guidelines, my teachings.'

6. ఇస్సాకు గెరారులో నివసించెను.

6. So Isaac stayed put in Gerar.

7. ఆ చోటి మనుష్యులు అతని భార్యను చూచి - ఆమె యెవరని అడిగినప్పుడు అతడు ఆమె నా సహోదరి అని చెప్పెను; ఎందుకనగా - రిబ్కా చక్కనిది గనుక ఈ చోటి మనుష్యులు ఆమె నిమిత్తము నన్ను చంపుదురేమో అనుకొని తన భార్య అని చెప్పుటకు భయపడెను.

7. The men of the place questioned him about his wife. He said, 'She's my sister.' He was afraid to say 'She's my wife.' He was thinking, 'These men might kill me to get Rebekah, she's so beautiful.'

8. అక్కడ అతడు చాలా దినములుండిన తరువాత ఫిలిష్తీయుల రాజైన అబీమెలెకు కిటికీలో నుండి చూచినప్పుడు ఇస్సాకు తన భార్యయైన రిబ్కాతో సరసమాడుట కనబడెను.

8. One day, after they had been there quite a long time, Abimelech, king of the Philistines, looked out his window and saw Isaac fondling his wife Rebekah.

9. అప్పుడు అబీమెలెకు ఇస్సాకును పిలిపించి ఇదిగో ఆమె నీ భార్యయే ఆమె నా సహోదరి అని యేల చెప్పితివని అడుగగా ఇస్సాకు ఆమెను బట్టి నేను చనిపోవుదు నేమో అనుకొంటినని అతనితో చెప్పెను.

9. Abimelech sent for Isaac and said, 'So, she's your wife. Why did you tell us 'She's my sister'?' Isaac said, 'Because I thought I might get killed by someone who wanted her.'

10. అందుకు అబీమెలెకు నీవు మాకు చేసిన యీ పని యేమి? ఈ జనులలో ఎవడైన ఆమెతో నిర్భయముగా శయనించవచ్చునే. అప్పుడు నీవు మామీదికి పాతకము తెచ్చిపెట్టు వాడవుగదా అనెను.

10. Abimelech said, 'But think of what you might have done to us! Given a little more time, one of the men might have slept with your wife; you would have been responsible for bringing guilt down on us.'

11. అబీమెలెకు ఈ మనుష్యుని జోలికైనను ఇతని భార్య జోలికైనను వెళ్లు వాడు నిశ్చయముగా మరణశిక్ష పొందునని తన ప్రజల కందరికి ఆజ్ఞాపింపగా

11. Then Abimelech gave orders to his people: 'Anyone who so much as lays a hand on this man or his wife dies.'

12. ఇస్సాకు ఆ దేశమందున్నవాడై విత్తనము వేసి ఆ సంవత్సరము నూరంతలు ఫలము పొందెను. యెహోవా అతనిని ఆశీర్వదించెను గనుక ఆ మనుష్యుడు గొప్పవాడాయెను.

12. Isaac planted crops in that land and took in a huge harvest. GOD blessed him.

13. అతడు మిక్కిలి గొప్పవాడగు వరకు క్రమ క్రమముగా అభివృద్ధి పొందుచు వచ్చెను.

13. The man got richer and richer by the day until he was very wealthy.

14. అతనికి గొఱ్ఱెల ఆస్తియు గొడ్ల ఆస్తియు దాసులు గొప్ప సమూహమును కలిగినందున ఫిలిష్తీయులు అతనియందు అసూయ పడిరి.

14. He accumulated flocks and herds and many, many servants, so much so that the Philistines began to envy him.

15. అతని తండ్రియైన అబ్రాహాము దినములలో అతని తండ్రి దాసులు త్రవ్విన బావులన్నిటిని ఫిలిష్తీయులు మన్ను పోసి పూడ్చివేసిరి.

15. They got back at him by throwing dirt and debris into all the wells that his father's servants had dug back in the days of his father Abraham, clogging up all the wells.

16. అబీమెలెకు నీవు మాకంటె బహు బలము గలవాడవు గనుక మాయొద్ద నుండి వెళ్లిపొమ్మని ఇస్సాకుతో చెప్పగా

16. Finally, Abimelech told Isaac: 'Leave. You've become far too big for us.'

17. ఇస్సాకు అక్కడనుండి వెళ్లి గెరారు లోయలో గుడారము వేసికొని అక్కడ నివసించెను.

17. So Isaac left. He camped in the valley of Gerar and settled down there.

18. అప్పుడు తన తండ్రియైన అబ్రాహాము దినములలో త్రవ్విన నీళ్ల బావులు ఇస్సాకు తిరిగి త్రవ్వించెను; ఏలయనగా అబ్రాహాము మృతిబొందిన తరువాత ఫిలిష్తీయులు వాటిని పూడ్చివేసిరి. అతడు తన తండ్రి వాటికి పెట్టిన పేళ్ల చొప్పున తిరిగి వాటికి పేర్లు పెట్టెను.

18. Isaac dug again the wells which were dug in the days of his father Abraham but had been clogged up by the Philistines after Abraham's death. And he renamed them, using the original names his father had given them.

19. మరియు ఇస్సాకు దాసులు ఆ లోయలో త్రవ్వగా జెలలుగల నీళ్లబావి దొరికెను.

19. One day, as Isaac's servants were digging in the valley, they came on a well of spring water.

20. అప్పుడు గెరారు కాపరులు ఇస్సాకు కాపరులతో జగడమాడి ఈ నీరు మాదే అని చెప్పిరి గనుక వారు తనతో కలహించినందున అతడు ఆ బావికి ఏశెకు అను పేరు పెట్టెను.

20. The shepherds of Gerar quarreled with Isaac's shepherds, claiming, 'This water is ours.' So Isaac named the well Esek (Quarrel) because they quarreled over it.

21. వారు మరియొక బావి త్రవ్వినప్పుడు దానికొరకును జగడమాడిరి గనుక దానికి శిత్నా అను పేరు పెట్టెను.

21. They dug another well and there was a difference over that one also, so he named it Sitnah (Accusation).

22. అతడు అక్కడనుండి వెళ్లి మరియొక బావి త్రవ్వించెను. దాని విషయమై వారు జగడమాడలేదు గనుక అతడు ఇప్పుడు యెహోవా మనకు ఎడము కలుగజేసియున్నాడు గనుక యీ దేశమందు అభివృద్ధి పొందుదుమనుకొని దానికి రహెబోతు అను పేరు పెట్టెను.

22. He went on from there and dug yet another well. But there was no fighting over this one so he named it Rehoboth (Wide-Open Spaces), saying, 'Now GOD has given us plenty of space to spread out in the land.'

23. అక్కడనుండి అతడు బెయేర్షెబాకు వెళ్లెను.

23. From there he went up to Beersheba.

24. ఆ రాత్రియే యెహోవా అతనికి ప్రత్యక్షమై నేను నీ తండ్రియైన అబ్రాహాము దేవుడను, నేను నీకు తోడైయున్నాను గనుక భయపడకుము; నా దాసుడైన అబ్రాహామును బట్టి నిన్ను ఆశీర్వదించి నీ సంతానమును విస్తరింపచేసెదనని చెప్పెను.

24. That very night GOD appeared to him and said, I am the God of Abraham your father; don't fear a thing because I'm with you. I'll bless you and make your children flourish because of Abraham my servant.

25. అక్కడ అతడొక బలిపీఠము కట్టించి యెహోవా నామమున ప్రార్థనచేసి అక్కడ తన గుడారము వేసెను. అప్పుడు ఇస్సాకు దాసులు అక్కడ బావి త్రవ్విరి.

25. Isaac built an altar there and prayed, calling on GOD by name. He pitched his tent and his servants started digging another well.

26. అంతట అబీమెలెకును అతని స్నేహితుడైన అహుజతును అతని సేనాధిపతియైన ఫీకోలును గెరారు నుండి అతని యొద్దకు వచ్చిరి.

26. Then Abimelech came to him from Gerar with Ahuzzath his advisor and Phicol the head of his troops.

27. ఇస్సాకు - మీరు నామీద పగపట్టి మీయొద్దనుండి నన్ను పంపివేసిన తరువాత ఎందునిమిత్తము నా యొద్దకు వచ్చియున్నారని వారినడుగగా

27. Isaac asked them, 'Why did you come to me? You hate me; you threw me out of your country.'

28. వారు నిశ్చయముగా యెహోవా నీకు తోడైయుండుట చూచితివిు గనుక మనకు, అనగా మాకును నీకును మధ్య నొక ప్రమాణముండవలెననియు

28. They said, 'We've realized that GOD is on your side. We'd like to make a deal between us--a covenant

29. మేము నిన్ను ముట్టక నీకు మేలే తప్ప మరేమియు చేయక నిన్ను సమాధానముగా పంపివేసితివిు గనుక నీవును మాకు కీడు చేయకుండునట్లు నీతో నిబంధన చేసికొందుమనియు అనుకొంటిమి; ఇప్పుడు నీవు యెహోవా ఆశీర్వాదము పొందిన వాడవనిరి.

29. that we maintain friendly relations. We haven't bothered you in the past; we treated you kindly and let you leave us in peace. So--GOD's blessing be with you!'

30. అతడు వారికి విందుచేయగా వారు అన్నపానములు పుచ్చుకొనిరి.

30. Isaac laid out a feast and they ate and drank together.

31. తెల్లవారినప్పుడు వారు లేచి ఒకనితో ఒకడు ప్రమాణము చేసికొనిరి; తరువాత ఇస్సాకు వారిని సాగనంపగా వారు అతని యొద్దనుండి సమాధానముగా వెళ్లిరి.

31. Early in the morning they exchanged oaths. Then Isaac said good-bye and they parted as friends.

32. ఆ దినమందే ఇస్సాకు దాసులు వచ్చి తాము త్రవ్విన బావినిగూర్చి అతనికి తెలియచేసి మాకు నీళ్లు కనబడినవని చెప్పిరి గనుక

32. Later that same day, Isaac's servants came to him with news about the well they had been digging, 'We've struck water!'

33. దానికి షేబ అను పేరు పెట్టెను. కాబట్టి నేటి వరకు ఆ ఊరి పేరు బెయేర్షెబా.

33. Isaac named the well Sheba (Oath), and that's the name of the city, Beersheba (Oath-Well), to this day.

34. ఏశావు నలువది సంవత్సరముల వాడైనప్పుడు హిత్తీయుడైన బేయేరీ కుమార్తెయగు యహూదీతును హిత్తీయుడైన ఏలోను కుమార్తెయగు బాశెమతును పెండ్లిచేసికొనెను.

34. When Esau was forty years old he married Judith, daughter of Beeri the Hittite, and Basemath, daughter of Elon the Hittite.

35. వీరు ఇస్సాకునకును రిబ్కాకును మనోవేదన కలుగజేసిరి.

35. They turned out to be thorns in the sides of Isaac and Rebekah.
