1. కావున యెహోవా నాతానును దావీదునొద్దకు పంపెను; అతడు వచ్చి దావీదుతో ఇట్లనెనుఒకానొక పట్టణమందు ఇద్దరు మనుష్యులు ఉండిరి.

1. And the LORD sent Nathan unto David. And he came unto him and said unto him, There were two men in one city; the one rich and the other poor.

2. ఒకడు ఐశ్వర్య వంతుడు ఒకడు దరిద్రుడు. ఐశ్వర్యవంతునికి విస్తారమైన గొఱ్ఱెలును గొడ్లును కలిగియుండెను.

2. The rich [man] had exceeding many sheep and cows,

3. అయితే ఆ దరిద్రునికి తాను కొనుక్కొనిన యొక చిన్న ఆడు గొఱ్ఱె పిల్ల తప్ప ఏమియు లేకపోయెను. వాడు దానిని పెంచు కొనుచుండగా అది వానియొద్దను వాని బిడ్డలయొద్దను ఉండి పెరిగి వాని చేతిముద్దలు తినుచు వాని గిన్నెలోనిది త్రాగుచు వాని కౌగిట పండుకొనుచు వానికి కుమార్తెవలె ఉండెను.

3. but the poor [man] had nothing except one little ewe lamb, which he had bought and nourished up, and it grew up together with him and with his children; it ate of his own food and drank of his own cup and lay in his bosom and was unto him as a daughter.

4. అట్లుండగా మార్గస్థుడొకడు ఐశ్వర్యవంతుని యొద్దకు వచ్చెను. అతడు తనయొద్దకు వచ్చిన మార్గస్థునికి ఆయత్తము చేయుటకు తన గొఱ్ఱెలలోగాని గొడ్లలోగాని దేనిని ముట్టనొల్లక, ఆ దరిద్రుని గొఱ్ఱెపిల్లను పట్టుకొని, తన యొద్దకు వచ్చినవానికి ఆయత్తము చేసెను.

4. And a traveller came unto the rich man, who did not wish to take of his own sheep and of his own cows to dress for the wayfaring man that was come unto him, but took the poor man's lamb and dressed it for the man that had come to him.

5. దావీదు ఈ మాట విని ఆ మనుష్యునిమీద బహుగా కోపించు కొనియెహోవా జీవముతోడు నిశ్చయముగా ఈ కార్యము చేసినవాడు మరణపాత్రుడు.

5. And David's anger was greatly kindled against the man, and he said to Nathan, As the LORD lives, the man that has done this [thing] is worthy of death,

6. వాడు కని కరము లేక యీ కార్యము చేసెను గనుక ఆ గొఱ్ఱె పిల్లకు ప్రతిగా నాలుగు గొఱ్ఱెపిల్లల నియ్యవలెనని నాతానుతో అనెను.

6. and he shall pay for the lamb fourfold because he did this thing and because he had no pity.

7. నాతాను దావీదును చూచిఆ మనుష్యుడవు నీవే. ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల దేవుడైన యెహోవా సెలవిచ్చునదేమ నగాఇశ్రాయేలీయులమీద నేను నిన్ను రాజుగా పట్టాభిషేకముచేసి సౌలు చేతిలోనుండి నిన్ను విడిపించి నీ యజమానుని నగరిని నీకను గ్రహించి

7. Then Nathan said to David, Thou [art] the man. Thus hath said the LORD God of Israel, I anointed thee king over Israel, and I delivered thee out of the hand of Saul,

8. నీ యజమానుని స్త్రీలను నీ కౌగిట చేర్చి ఇశ్రాయేలువారిని యూదా వారిని నీ కప్పగించితిని. ఇది చాలదని నీవనుకొనినయెడల నేను మరి ఎక్కువగా నీకిచ్చియుందును.

8. and I gave thee thy master's house and thy master's wives into thy bosom and gave thee the house of Israel and of Judah, and if [that is] too little, I shall add unto thee such and such things.

9. నీవు యెహోవా మాటను తృణీకరించి ఆయన దృష్టికి చెడుతనము చేసితి వేమి? హిత్తీయుడగు ఊరియాను కత్తిచేత చంపించి అతని భార్యను నీకు భార్య యగునట్లుగా నీవు పట్టుకొని యున్నావు; అమ్మోనీయులచేత నీవతని చంపించితివి గదా?

9. Why, therefore, hast thou despised the commandment of the LORD, to do evil in his sight? Thou hast killed Uriah, the Hittite, with the sword and hast taken his wife [to be] thy wife and hast slain him with the sword of the sons of Ammon.

10. నీవు నన్ను లక్ష్యము చేయక హిత్తీయుడగు ఊరియా భార్యను నీకు భార్య యగునట్లు తీసికొనినందున నీ యింటివారికి సదాకాలము యుద్ధము కలుగును.

10. Now, therefore, the sword shall never depart from thy house because thou hast despised me and hast taken the wife of Uriah, the Hittite, to be thy wife.

11. నా మాట ఆలకించుము; యెహోవానగు నేను సెలవిచ్చున దేమనగానీ యింటివారి మూలముననే నేను నీకు అపా యము పుట్టింతును; నీవు చూచుచుండగా నేను నీ భార్యలను తీసి నీ చేరువ వానికప్పగించెదను.

11. Thus hath the LORD said, Behold, I will raise up evil against thee out of thy own house, and I will take thy wives before thy eyes and give [them] unto thy neighbour, and he shall lie with thy wives in the sight of this sun.

12. పగటియందు వాడు వారితో శయనించును. నీవు ఈ కార్యము రహస్యముగా చేసితివిగాని ఇశ్రాయేలీయులందరు చూచుచుండగా పగటియందే నేను చెప్పినదానిని చేయింతును అనెను.

12. For thou hast done [it] secretly, but I will do this thing before all Israel and before the sun.

13. నేను పాపముచేసితినని దావీదు నాతానుతో అనగా నాతానునీవు చావకుండునట్లు యెహోవా నీ పాపమును పరిహరించెను.

13. Then David said unto Nathan, I have sinned against the LORD. And Nathan said unto David, The LORD also has taken away thy sin; thou shalt not die.

14. అయితే ఈ కార్యము వలన యెహోవాను దూషించుటకు ఆయన శత్రువులకు నీవు గొప్ప హేతువు కలుగజేసితివి

14. However, because by this deed, thou hast given great occasion to the enemies of the LORD to blaspheme; the son that is born unto thee shall surely die.

15. గనుక నీకు పుట్టిన బిడ్డ నిశ్చయముగా చచ్చునని దావీదుతో చెప్పి తన యింటికి వెళ్లెను.

15. And Nathan departed unto his house. And the LORD struck the child that Uriah's wife had given birth unto David, and it was very sick.

16. యెహోవా ఊరియా భార్య దావీదునకు కనిన బిడ్డను మొత్తినందున అది బహు జబ్బుపడెను.

16. David, therefore, besought God for the child, and David fasted and went in and lay all night upon the earth.

17. దావీదు ఉప వాసముండి లోపలికి పోయి రాత్రి అంతయు నేలపడి యుండి బిడ్డకొరకు దేవుని బతిమాలగా, ఇంటిలో ఎన్నిక యైనవారు లేచి అతనిని నేలనుండి లేవనెత్తుటకు వచ్చిరిగాని అతడు సమ్మతింపక వారితోకూడ భోజనము చేయక యుండెను.

17. And the elders of his house arose [and went] to him to raise him up from the earth, but he would not, neither did he eat bread with them.

18. ఏడవ దినమున బిడ్డ చావగాబిడ్డ ప్రాణముతో ఉండగా మేము అతనితో మాటిలాడినప్పుడు అతడు మా మాటలు వినక యుండెను.

18. And it came to pass on the seventh day that the child died. And the servants of David feared to tell him that the child was dead, for they said, Behold, while the child was yet alive, we spoke unto him, and he would not hearken unto our voice; how much more will it trouble him if we tell him that the child is dead?

19. ఇప్పుడు బిడ్డ చనిపోయెనని మనము అతనితో చెప్పినయెడల తనకుతాను హాని చేసికొనునేమో యనుకొని, దావీదు సేవకులు బిడ్డ చనిపోయెనను సంగతి అతనితో చెప్ప వెరచిరి. అయితే దావీదు తన సేవకులు గుసగుసలాడుట చూచి బిడ్డ చనిపోయెనను సంగతి గ్రహించిబిడ్డ చనిపోయెనా అని తన సేవకుల నడుగగా వారుచని పోయెననిరి.

19. But when David saw that his servants whispered, David understood that the child was dead; therefore, David said unto his servants, Is the child dead? And they said, He is dead.

20. అప్పుడు దావీదు నేలనుండి లేచి స్నానముచేసి తైలము పూసికొని వేరు వస్త్రములు ధరించి యెహోవా మందిరములో ప్రవేశించి మ్రొక్కి తన యింటికి తిరిగి వచ్చి భోజనము తెమ్మనగా వారు వడ్డించిరి; అప్పుడు అతడు భోజనము చేసెను.

20. Then David arose from the earth and washed and anointed [himself] and changed his clothes and came into the house of the LORD and worshipped. Then he came to his own house; and when he asked, they set bread before him, and he ate.

21. అతని సేవకులుబిడ్డ జీవముతో ఉండగా ఉప వాసముండి దానికొరకు ఏడ్చుచుంటివి గాని అది మరణ మైనప్పుడు లేచి భోజనము చేసితివి. నీవీలాగున చేయుట ఏమని దావీదు నడుగగా

21. Then his servants said unto him, What [is] this that thou hast done? Thou didst fast and weep for the child [while it was alive]; but when the child was dead, thou didst rise and eat bread.

22. అతడుబిడ్డ ప్రాణముతో ఉన్నప్పుడు దేవుడు నాయందు కనికరించి వాని బ్రదికించునేమో యనుకొని నేను ఉపవాసముండి యేడ్చు చుంటిని.

22. And he replied, While the child was yet alive, I fasted and wept, for I said, Who can tell [whether] GOD will have mercy on me, that the child may live?

23. ఇప్పుడు చనిపోయెను గనుక నేనెందుకు ఉప వాసముండవలెను? వానిని తిరిగి రప్పించగలనా? నేను వానియొద్దకు పోవుదును గాని వాడు నాయొద్దకు మరల రాడని వారితో చెప్పెను.

23. But now that he is dead, why should I fast? Can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me.

24. తరువాత దావీదు తన భార్యయైన బత్షెబను ఓదార్చి ఆమెయొద్దకు పోయి ఆమెను కూడగా ఆమె యొక కుమారుని కనెను. దావీదు అతనికి సొలొమోను అని పేరు పెట్టెను.

24. And David comforted Bathsheba, his wife, and went in unto her and lay with her; and she gave birth to a son, and he called his name Solomon; and the LORD loved him.

25. యెహోవా అతనిని ప్రేమించి నాతాను అను ప్రవక్తను పంపగా అతడు యెహోవా ఆజ్ఞనుబట్టి యదీద్యా అని అతనికి పేరు పెట్టెను.

25. And he sent by the hand of Nathan, the prophet; and he called his name Jedidiah, by the LORD.

26. యోవాబు రబ్బా అను అమ్మోనీయుల పట్టణముమీద యుద్ధము చేసి రాజనగరిని పట్టుకొనెను.

26. And Joab fought against Rabbah, of the sons of Ammon, and took the royal city.

27. దావీదునొద్దకు అతడు దూతలను పంపినేను రబ్బామీద యుద్ధముచేసి జలములమీది పట్టణమును పట్టుకొంటిని;

27. Then Joab sent messengers to David and said, I have fought against Rabbah and have taken the city of waters.

28. నేను పట్టణమును పట్టుకొని నా పేరు దానికి పెట్టకుండునట్లు మిగిలిన దండువారిని సమకూర్చి నీవు పట్టణమును పట్టుకొనవలెనని వర్తమానము చేయగా

28. Now, therefore, gather the rest of the people together and encamp against the city and take it lest I take the city, and it be called after my name.

29. దావీదు యోధులను సమకూర్చి రబ్బాకు వచ్చి దానిమీద యుద్ధముచేసి దానిని పట్టుకొని, వారి రాజు కిరీటమును అతని తలమీదనుండి తీయించగా అది దావీదు తలమీద పెట్టబడెను. అది విలువగల రత్నములు చెక్కినదై రెండు బంగారు మనుగులంత యెత్తుండెను.

29. And David gathered all the people together and went to Rabbah and fought against it and took it.

30. మరియు అతడు పట్టణములోనుండి బహు విస్తారమైన దోపుసొమ్ము పట్టుకొని పోయెను.

30. And he took their king's crown from off his head, the weight of which [was] a talent of gold with the precious stones, and it was [set] on David's head. And he brought forth the spoil of the city in great abundance.

31. పట్టణములో ఉన్నవారిని బయటికి తెప్పించి రంపములచేతను పదును గల యినుప పనిముట్లచేతను ఇనుప గొడ్డండ్లచేతను వారిని తుత్తునియలుగా చేయించి వారిని ఇటుక ఆవములో వేసెను. అమ్మోనీయుల పట్టణములన్నిటికి అతడు ఈలాగు చేసెను. ఆ తరువాత దావీదును జనులందరును తిరిగి యెరూషలేమునకు వచ్చిరి.

31. And he brought forth the people that [were] therein and put [them] under saws and under harrows of iron and under axes of iron and made them pass through the brickkiln, and thus did he unto all the cities of the sons of Ammon. So David and all the people returned unto Jerusalem.:
