1. తరువాత దావీదు కుమారుడగు అబ్షాలోమునకు తామారను నొక సుందరవతియగు సహోదరియుండగా దావీదు కుమారుడగు అమ్నోను ఆమెను మోహించెను.

1. Some time later, this happened: Absalom, David's son, had a sister who was very attractive. Her name was Tamar. Amnon, also David's son, was in love with her.

2. తామారు కన్యయైనందున ఆమెకు ఏమి చేయవలెనన్నను దుర్లభమని అమ్నోను గ్రహించి చింతాక్రాంతుడై తన చెల్లెలైన తామారునుబట్టి చిక్కిపోయెను.

2. Amnon was obsessed with his sister Tamar to the point of making himself sick over her. She was a virgin, so he couldn't see how he could get his hands on her.

3. అమ్నోనునకు మిత్రుడొకడుండెను. అతడు దావీదు సహోదరుడైన షిమ్యా కుమారుడు, అతని పేరు యెహోనాదాబు. ఈ యెహోనాదాబు బహు కపటముగలవాడు. అతడు

3. Amnon had a good friend, Jonadab, the son of David's brother Shimeah. Jonadab was exceptionally streetwise.

4. He said to Amnon, 'Why are you moping around like this, day after day--you, the son of the king! Tell me what's eating at you.' 'In a word, Tamar,' said Amnon. 'My brother Absalom's sister. I'm in love with her.'

5. యెహోనాదాబు­నీవు రోగివైనట్టువేషము వేసికొని నీ మంచముమీద పండుకొనియుండుము. నీ తండ్రి నిన్ను చూచుటకు వచ్చినప్పుడు నీవు­నా చెల్లెలైన తామారుచేత సిద్ధపరచబడిన భోజనము నేను భుజించునట్లు ఆమె వచ్చి నేను చూచుచుండగా దానిని సిద్ధము చేసి నాకు పెట్టునట్లు సెలవిమ్మని అడుగుమని అతనికి బోధింపగా అమ్నోను పడకమీద పండుకొనెను.

5. 'Here's what you do,' said Jonadab. 'Go to bed and pretend you're sick. When your father comes to visit you, say, 'Have my sister Tamar come and prepare some supper for me here where I can watch her and she can feed me.''

6. అమ్నోను కాయిలాపడెనని రాజు అతని చూడ వచ్చినప్పుడు అమ్నోనునా చెల్లెలగు తామారు చేతి వంటకము నేను భుజించునట్లు ఆమె వచ్చి నేను చూచుచుండగా నాకొరకు రెండు అప్పములు చేయుటకు సెల విమ్మని రాజుతో మనవి చేయగా

6. So Amnon took to his bed and acted sick. When the king came to visit, Amnon said, 'Would you do me a favor? Have my sister Tamar come and make some nourishing dumplings here where I can watch her and be fed by her.'

7. దావీదునీ అన్నయగు అమ్నోను ఇంటికి పోయి అతనికొరకు భోజనము సిద్ధము చేయుమని తామారు ఇంటికి వర్తమానము పంపెను.

7. David sent word to Tamar who was home at the time: 'Go to the house of your brother Amnon and prepare a meal for him.'

8. కాబట్టి తామారు తన అన్నయగు అమ్నోను ఇంటికి పోయెను.

8. So Tamar went to her brother Amnon's house. She took dough, kneaded it, formed it into dumplings, and cooked them while he watched from his bed.

9. అతడు పండుకొనియుండగా ఆమె పిండితీసికొని కలిపి అతని యెదుట అప్పములు చేసి వాటిని కాల్చి బొరుసు పట్టుకొని అతనికి వడ్డింపగా అతడునాకు వద్దని చెప్పిఉన్నవారందరు నాయొద్ద నుండి అవతలకు పొండ నెను.

9. But when she took the cooking pot and served him, he wouldn't eat. Amnon said, 'Clear everyone out of the house,' and they all cleared out.

10. Then he said to Tamar, 'Bring the food into my bedroom, where we can eat in privacy.' She took the nourishing dumplings she had prepared and brought them to her brother Amnon in his bedroom.

11. అయితే అతడు భుజింపవలెనని ఆమె వాటిని తీసికొనివచ్చినప్పుడు అతడు ఆమెను పట్టుకొనినా చెల్లీ రమ్ము, నాతో శయనించుము అని చెప్పగా

11. But when she got ready to feed him, he grabbed her and said, 'Come to bed with me, sister!'

12. 'No, brother!' she said, 'Don't hurt me! This kind of thing isn't done in Israel! Don't do this terrible thing!

13. నీవును ఇశ్రాయేలీయులలో దుర్మార్గుడవగు దువు; అయితే ఇందునుగూర్చి రాజుతో మాటలాడుము;

13. Where could I ever show my face? And you--you'll be out on the street in disgrace. Oh, please! Speak to the king--he'll let you marry me.'

14. అతడు నన్ను నీకియ్యక పోడు అని చెప్పినను అతడు ఆమె మాట వినక ఆమెను బలవంతముచేసి అవమానపరచి ఆమెతో శయనించెను.

14. But he wouldn't listen. Being much stronger than she, he raped her.

15. No sooner had Amnon raped her than he hated her--an immense hatred. The hatred that he felt for her was greater than the love he'd had for her. 'Get up,' he said, 'and get out!'

16. 'Oh no, brother,' she said. 'Please! This is an even worse evil than what you just did to me!' But he wouldn't listen to her.

17. అతడు ఆమె మాట వినక తన పని వారిలో ఒకని పిలిచిదీనిని నాయొద్దనుండి వెళ్లగొట్టి తలుపు గడియ వేయుమని చెప్పెను.

17. He called for his valet. 'Get rid of this woman. Get her out of my sight! And lock the door after her.'

18. కన్యకలైన రాజకుమార్తెలు వివిధ వర్ణములుగల చీరలు ధరించువారు ఆమె యట్టి చీరయొకటి ధరించి యుండెను. పనివాడు ఆమెను బయటికి వెళ్లగొట్టి మరల రాకుండునట్లు తలుపు గడియవేసెను.

18. The valet threw her out and locked the door behind her. She was wearing a long-sleeved gown. (That's how virgin princesses used to dress from early adolescence on.)

19. అప్పుడు తామారు నెత్తిమీద బుగ్గిపోసికొని తాను కట్టుకొనిన వివిధ వర్ణములుగల చీరను చింపి నెత్తి మీద చెయ్యిపెట్టుకొని యేడ్చుచు పోగా

19. Tamar poured ashes on her head, then she ripped the long-sleeved gown, held her head in her hands, and walked away, sobbing as she went.

20. ఆమె అన్నయగు అబ్షాలోము ఆమెను చూచినీ అన్నయగు అమ్నోను నిన్ను కూడినాడు గదా? నా చెల్లీ నీవు ఊర కుండుము; అతడు నీ అన్నే గదా, యిందునుగూర్చి చింతపడవద్దనెను. కావున తామారు చెరుపబడినదై తన అన్నయగు అబ్షాలోము ఇంట నుండెను.

20. Her brother Absalom said to her, 'Has your brother Amnon had his way with you? Now, my dear sister, let's keep it quiet--a family matter. He is, after all, your brother. Don't take this so hard.' Tamar lived in her brother Absalom's home, bitter and desolate.

21. ఈ సంగతి రాజగు దావీదునకు వినబడినప్పుడు అతడు బహురౌద్రము తెచ్చుకొనెను.

21. King David heard the whole story and was enraged,

22. అబ్షాలోము తన అన్నయగు అమ్నోనుతో మంచి చెడ్డ లేమియు మాటలాడక ఊరకుండెను గాని, తన సహోదరియగు తామారును బలవంతము చేసి నందుకై అతనిమీద పగయుంచెను.

22. but he didn't discipline Amnon. David doted on him because he was his firstborn. Absalom quit speaking to Amnon--not a word, whether good or bad--because he hated him for violating his sister Tamar.

23. రెండు సంవత్సరములైన తరువాత ఎఫ్రాయిమునకు సమీపమందుండు బయల్దాసోరులో అబ్షాలోము గొఱ్ఱెల బొచ్చు కత్తిరించుకాలము రాగా అబ్షాలోము రాజకుమారుల నందరిని విందునకు పిలిచెను.

23. Two years went by. One day Absalom threw a sheep-shearing party in Baal Hazor in the vicinity of Ephraim and invited all the king's sons.

24. అబ్షాలోము రాజునొద్దకు వచ్చిచిత్తగించుము, నీ దాసుడనైన నాకు గొఱ్ఱె బొచ్చు కత్తిరించు కాలము వచ్చెను; రాజవైన నీవును నీ సేవకులును విందునకు రావలెనని నీ దాసుడనైన నేను కోరుచున్నానని మనవి చేయగా

24. He also went to the king and invited him. 'Look, I'm throwing a sheep-shearing party. Come, and bring your servants.'

25. రాజునా కుమారుడా, మమ్మును పిలువవద్దు; మేము నీకు అధిక భారముగా ఉందుము; మేమందరము రాతగదని చెప్పినను అబ్షాలోము రాజును బలవంతము చేసెను.

25. But the king said, 'No, son--not this time, and not the whole household. We'd just be a burden to you.' Absalom pushed, but David wouldn't budge. But he did give him his blessing.

26. అయితే దావీదు వెళ్ల నొల్లక అబ్షాలోమును దీవించి పంపగా అబ్షాలోమునీవు రాకపోయిన యెడల నా అన్నయగు అమ్నోను మాతోకూడ వచ్చునట్లు సెలవిమ్మని రాజుతో మనవి చేసెను. అతడు నీయొద్దకు ఎందుకు రావలెనని రాజు అడుగగా

26. Then Absalom said, 'Well, if you won't come, at least let my brother Amnon come.' 'And why,' said the king, 'should he go with you?'

27. అబ్షాలోము అతని బతిమాలినందున రాజు అమ్నోనును తన కుమారులందరును అతని యొద్దకు పోవచ్చు నని సెలవిచ్చెను.

27. But Absalom was so insistent that he gave in and let Amnon and all the rest of the king's sons go.

28. అంతలో అబ్షాలోము తన పనివారిని పిలిచి, అమ్నోను ద్రాక్షారసమువలన సంతోషియై యుండుట మీరు కనిపెట్టియుండి అమ్నోనును హతము చేయుడని నేను మీతో చెప్పు నప్పుడు భయపడక అతని చంపుడి, నేను గదా మీకు ఆజ్ఞ ఇచ్చి యున్నాను, ధైర్యము తెచ్చుకొని పౌరుషము చూపుడి అని గట్టిగా ఆజ్ఞ ఇచ్చెను.

28. Absalom prepared a banquet fit for a king. Then he instructed his servants, 'Look sharp, now. When Amnon is well into the sauce and feeling no pain, and I give the order 'Strike Amnon,' kill him. And don't be afraid--I'm the one giving the command. Courage! You can do it!'

29. అబ్షాలోము ఇచ్చిన ఆజ్ఞచొప్పునవారు చేయగా రాజకుమారులందరును లేచి తమ కంచరగాడిదల నెక్కి పారిపోయిరి.

29. Absalom's servants did to Amnon exactly what their master ordered. All the king's sons got out as fast as they could, jumped on their mules, and rode off.

30. వారు మార్గములో ఉండగానే యొకడును లేకుండ రాజకుమారులను అందరిని అబ్షాలోము హతముచేసెనని దావీదునకు వార్త రాగా

30. While they were still on the road, a rumor came to the king: 'Absalom just killed all the king's sons--not one is left!'

31. అతడు లేచి వస్త్రములు చింపుకొని నేలపడియుండెను; మరియు అతని సేవకులందరు వస్త్రములు చింపుకొని దగ్గర నిలువబడియుండిరి.

31. The king stood up, ripped his clothes to shreds, and threw himself on the floor. All his servants who were standing around at the time did the same.

32. దావీదు సహోదరుడైన షిమ్యాకు పుట్టిన యెహోనాదాబు దీనిని చూచిరాజకుమారులైన ¸యవ నులనందరిని వారు చంపిరని నా యేలినవాడవగు నీవు తలంచవద్దు; అమ్నోను మాత్రమే మరణమాయెను; ఏల యనగా అతడు అబ్షాలోము చెల్లెలైన తామారును బలవంతము చేసిననాటనుండి అబ్షా లోము అతని చంపవలెనను తాత్పర్యముతో ఉండెనని అతని నోటి మాటనుబట్టి నిశ్చ యించుకొనవచ్చును.

32. Just then, Jonadab, his brother Shimeah's son, stepped up. 'My master must not think that all the young men, the king's sons, are dead. Only Amnon is dead. This happened because of Absalom's outrage since the day that Amnon violated his sister Tamar.

33. కాబట్టి నా యేలినవాడవగు నీవు రాజకుమారులందరును మరణమైరని తలచి విచారపడవద్దు; అమ్నోను మాత్రమే మరణమాయెననెను.

33. So my master, the king, mustn't make things worse than they are, thinking that all your sons are dead. Only Amnon is dead.'

34. అబ్షాలోము ఇంతకు ముందు పారిపోయి యుండెను. కావలియున్న పని వాడు ఎదురుచూచుచున్నప్పుడు తన వెనుక కొండ ప్రక్కనున్న మార్గమున వచ్చుచున్న అనేక జనులు కనబడిరి.

34. Absalom fled. Just then the sentry on duty looked up and saw a cloud of dust on the road from Horonaim alongside the mountain. He came and told the king, 'I've just seen a bunch of men on the Horonaim road, coming around the mountain.'

35. యెహోనాదాబు అదిగో రాజకుమారులు వచ్చియున్నారు; నీ దాసుడనైన నేను చెప్పిన ప్రకారము గానే ఆయెనని రాజుతో చెప్పెను.

35. Then Jonadab exclaimed to the king, 'See! It's the king's sons coming, just as I said!'

36. అతడు ఆమాటలాడ చాలింపగానే రాజకుమారులు వచ్చి బిగ్గరగా ఏడ్వ సాగిరి, రాజును అతని సేవకులందరును దీనిని చూచి బహుగా ఏడ్చిరి.

36. He had no sooner said the words than the king's sons burst in--loud laments and weeping! The king joined in, along with all the servants--loud weeping, many tears.

37. అయితే అబ్షాలోము పారిపోయి అమీహూదు కుమారుడైన తల్మయి అను గెషూరు రాజునొద్ద చేరెను. దావీదు అనుదినమును తన కుమారునికొరకు అంగలార్చుచుండెను.

37. David mourned the death of his son a long time. When Absalom fled, he went to Talmai son of Ammihud, king of Geshur.

38. అబ్షాలోము పారిపోయి గెషూరునకు వచ్చి అక్కడ మూడు సంవత్సరములున్న తరువాత

38. He was there three years.

39. రాజైన దావీదు అమ్నోను మరణమాయెననుకొని అతనినిగూర్చి యోదార్పు నొందినవాడై అబ్షాలోమును పట్టుకొనవలెనన్న ఆలోచన మానెను.

39. The king finally gave up trying to get back at Absalom. He had come to terms with Amnon's death.
