1. రాజు తన కుమారునిగూర్చి దుఃఖించుచు ఏడ్చుచున్నాడను సంగతి ఆ దినమున జనులందరు విని,

1. Trembling, the king went up to the room over the gate, weeping and crying, 'Oh, my son Avshalom! My son! My son Avshalom! If only I had died instead of you! Oh, Avshalom, my son, my son!'

2. యుద్ధ మందు సిగ్గుతో పారిపోయిన జనులవలె వారు నాడు దొంగనడకలతో వచ్చి పట్టణములో ప్రవేశించిరి;

2. Yo'av was told, 'The king is weeping, mourning for Avshalom.'

3. నాటి విజయము జనులకందరికి దుఃఖమునకు కారణమాయెను.

3. Thus the victory that day was turned into mourning for all the people, for the people heard it said that day that the king was grieving for his son;

4. రాజు ముఖము కప్పుకొని అబ్షాలోమా నా కుమాడుడా అబ్షాలోమా నా కుమారుడా నా కుమారుడా, అని కేకలు వేయుచు ఏడ్చుచుండగా,

4. so that the people entered the city furtively that day, the way that people who are ashamed creep away when fleeing a battlefield.

5. రాజు అబ్షాలోమునుగూర్చి దుఃఖించుచు ఏడ్చుచున్నాడను సంగతి యోవాబు విని నగరియందున్న రాజునొద్దకు వచ్చినీ ప్రాణమును నీ కుమారుల ప్రాణములను నీ కుమార్తెల ప్రాణములను నీ భార్యల ప్రాణములను నీ ఉపపత్నుల ప్రాణములను ఈ దినమున రక్షించిన నీ సేవకులనందరిని నేడు సిగ్గుపరచి

5. Meanwhile, the king covered his face and cried aloud, 'Oh, my son Avshalom! Oh, Avshalom, my son, my son!'

6. నీ స్నేహితుల యెడల ప్రేమ చూపక నీ శత్రువులయెడలప్రేమ చూపుచు, ఈ దినమున అధిపతులును సేవకులును నీకు ఇష్టజనులుకారని నీవు కనుపరచితివి. మేమందరము చనిపోయి అబ్షాలోము బ్రదికియుండినయెడల అది నీకు ఇష్టమగునన్న మాట యీ దినమున నేను తెలిసికొనుచున్నాను. ఇప్పుడు లేచి బయటికివచ్చి నీ సేవకులను ధైర్యపరచుము.

6. Yo'av went inside to the king and said, 'Today you made all your servants feel ashamed. They saved your life today, and the lives of your sons, daughters, wives and concubines.

7. నీవు బయటికి రాకయుండిన యెడల ఈ రాత్రి యొకడును నీయొద్ద నిలువడని యెహోవా నామమునుబట్టి ప్రమాణము చేసి చెప్పుచున్నాను; నీ బాల్యమునుండి నేటివరకు నీకు ప్రాప్తించిన అపాయము లన్నిటికంటె అది నీకు కష్టతరముగా ఉండునని రాజుతో మనవిచేయగా రాజు లేచి వచ్చి గుమ్మములో కూర్చుం డెను.

7. But you love those who hate you and hate those who love you. Today you said that princes and servants mean nothing to you- for I can see today that it would have pleased you more if Avshalom had lived today, and we had all died!

8. రాజు గుమ్మములో కూర్చున్నాడను మాట జనులందరు విని రాజును దర్శింప వచ్చిరిగాని ఇశ్రాయేలువారు తమ తమ యిండ్లకు పారిపోయిరి.

8. Now get up, go out and speak heart-to-heart with your servants. For I swear by ADONAI that if you don't go out, not one man will stay here with you tonight- and that will be worse for you than all the misfortunes you have suffered from your youth until now.'

9. అంతట ఇశ్రాయేలువారి గోత్రములకు చేరికైన జనులందరు ఇట్లనుకొనిరిమన శత్రువుల చేతిలోనుండియు, ఫిలిష్తీయుల చేతిలోనుండియు మనలను విడిపించిన రాజు అబ్షాలోమునకు భయపడి దేశములోనుండి పారిపోయెను.

9. So the king got up and sat in the city gateway; and when all the people were told, 'Now the king is sitting in the gate,' they came before the king. Meanwhile, Isra'el had fled, each man to his tent;

10. మనమీద మనము రాజుగా పట్టాభిషేకము చేసిన అబ్షాలోము యుద్దమందు మరణమాయెను. కాబట్టి మనము రాజును మరల తోడుకొని వచ్చుటను గూర్చి ఏల మాట్లాడక పోతివిు?

10. and throughout all the tribes of Isra'el there was dissension among all the people. They were saying, 'The king delivered us from the power of our enemies, and he saved us from the power of the P'lishtim; but now he has fled the land to escape Avshalom.

11. రాజైన దావీదు ఇది విని యాజకులగు సాదోకునకును అబ్యాతారునకును వర్తమానము పంపిఇశ్రాయేలువా రందరు మాటలాడుకొను సంగతి నగరిలోనున్న రాజునకు వినబడెను గనుక రాజును నగరికి మరల తోడుకొని రాకుండ మీరెందుకు ఆలస్యము చేయుచున్నారు?

11. However, Avshalom, whom we anointed to rule us, is dead in battle. So now, why doesn't anyone suggest bringing the king back?'

12. మీరు నాకు ఎముక నంటినట్టియు మాంసము నంటినట్టియు సహోదరులై యుండగా రాజును తోడుకొని రాకుండ మీరెందుకు ఆలస్యము చేయుచున్నారని యూదావారి పెద్దలతో చెప్పుమని ఆజ్ఞ ఇచ్చెను.

12. King David sent this message to Tzadok and Evyatar the [cohanim]: 'Ask the leaders of Y'hudah, 'Why are you the last to bring the king back to his palace? The king has already heard that all Isra'el wants to return him to his palace.

13. మరియు అమాశా యొద్దకు దూతలను పంపినీవు నాకు ఎముక నంటిన బంధువుడవు మాంసము నంటిన బంధువుడవు కావా? యోవాబునకు బదులు నిన్ను సైన్యాధిపతిగా నేను ఖాయ పరచనియెడల దేవుడు గొప్ప అపాయము నాకు కలుగ జేయును గాకని చెప్పుడనెను.

13. You are my kinsmen, my flesh and bone; so why are you the last to bring back the king?'

14. అతడు పోయి యెవరును తప్పకుండ యూదావారినందరిని రాజునకు ఇష్టపూర్వక ముగా లోబడునట్లు చేయగానీవును నీ సేవకులందరును మరల రావలెనన్న వర్తమానము వారు రాజునొద్దకు పంపిరి. రాజు తిరిగి యొర్దాను నది యొద్దకు రాగా

14. Also tell 'Amasa, 'You are my flesh and bone. May God bring terrible curses on me and worse ones yet if from now on you are not permanent commander of my army instead of Yo'av.'

15. యూదావారు రాజును ఎదుర్కొనుటకును రాజును నది యివతలకు తోడుకొని వచ్చుటకును గిల్గాలునకు వచ్చిరి.

15. Thus he turned the hearts of all the men of Y'hudah around as if they were one man, so that they sent a message to the king, 'Come back, you and all your servants!'

16. అంతలో బహూరీమునందున్న బెన్యామీనీయుడగు గెరా కుమారుడైన షిమీ త్వరపడి రాజైన దావీదును ఎదుర్కొనుటకై యూదావారితో కూడ వచ్చెను.

16. The king started back and arrived at the Yarden, while Y'hudah came to Gilgal in order to meet the king and bring the king over the Yarden.

17. అతని యొద్ద వెయ్యిమంది బెన్యామీనీయులు ఉండిరి. మరియుసౌలు కుటుంబమునకు సేవకుడగు సీబాయును అతని పదు నయిదుగురు కుమారులును అతని యిరువదిమంది దాసులును వచ్చి

17. Shim'i the son of Gera, the Binyamini from Bachurim, hurried and came down with the men of Y'hudah to meet King David.

18. రాజు ఎదుట నది దాటిరి; రాజు ఇంటివారిని అవతలకు దాటించుటకును రాజు దృష్టికి అనుకూలమైన దానిని చేయుటకును రేవుపడవను ఇవతలకు తెచ్చి యుండిరి. అంతట గెరా కుమారుడగు షిమీ వచ్చి రాజు యొర్దానునది దాటి పోగానే అతనికి సాష్టాంగపడి

18. There were a thousand men of Binyamin with him, also Tziva the servant of the house of Sha'ul with his fifteen sons and twenty servants; and they rushed into the Yarden ahead of the king

19. నా యేలినవాడా, నేను చేసిన ద్రోహము నామీద మోపకుము; నా యేలిన వాడవును రాజవునగు నీవు యెరూషలేమును విడిచిన వేళ నీ దాసుడనగు నేను మూర్ఖించి చేసిన దోషమును జ్ఞాపకమందుంచకుము, మనస్సునందుంచు కొనకుము.

19. to ferry the king's household across and do whatever else the king wanted done. Shim'i the son of Gera fell down before the king when he was ready to cross the Yarden

20. నేను పాపము చేసితినని నాకు తెలిసినది గనుక యోసేపు వారందరితో కూడ నా యేలినవాడవును రాజవునగు నిన్ను ఎదుర్కొనుటకై నేను ముందుగా వచ్చియున్నాననెను.

20. and said to the king, 'May my lord not hold me guilty of a crime. Don't remember the wrong your servant did on the day my lord the king left Yerushalayim. May the king not take it to heart!

21. అంతట సెరూయా కుమారుడగు అబీషైయెహోవా అభిషేకించినవానిని శపించిన యీ షిమీ మరణమునకు పాత్రుడు కాడా అని యనగా

21. For your servant knows that I have sinned. Therefore, look- I am the first one of all the house of Yosef to come today and go down to meet my lord the king.'

22. దావీదుసెరూయా కుమారులారా, మీకును నాకును ఏమి పొందు? ఇట్టి సమయమున మీరు నాకు విరోధులగుదురా? ఇశ్రాయేలువారిలో ఎవరైనను ఈ దినమున మరణశిక్ష నొందుదురా? యిప్పుడు నేను ఇశ్రాయేలువారిమీద రాజు నైతినను సంగతి నాకు తెలిసేయున్నదని చెప్పి ప్రమా ణముచేసి

22. Avishai the son of Tz'ruyah answered, 'Shouldn't Shim'i be put to death for this? After all, he cursed ADONAI's anointed ruler!'

23. నీకు మరణశిక్ష విధింపనని షిమీతో సెల విచ్చెను.

23. But David said, 'What do I have in common with you, you sons of Tz'ruyah? Why have you become my adversaries today? Should anyone in Isra'el be put to death today? Don't I know that today I am king over Isra'el?'

24. మరియు సౌలు కుమారుడగు మెఫీబోషెతు రాజును నెదుర్కొనుటకు వచ్చెను. రాజు పారిపోయిన దినము మొదలుకొని అతడు సుఖముగా తిరిగి వచ్చిన నాటివరకు అతడు కాళ్లు కడుగుకొనకయు, గడ్డము కత్తిరించు కొనకయు బట్టలు ఉదుకుకొనకయు నుండెను.

24. Then the king said to Shim'i, 'You will not be put to death,' and the king swore it to him.

25. రాజును ఎదుర్కొనుటకై అతడు యెరూషలేమునకు రాగా రాజు మెఫీబోషెతూ, నీవు నాతో కూడ రాకపోతివేమని అతని నడిగెను

25. M'fivoshet the son of Sha'ul came down to meet the king. He hadn't cared for his legs, trimmed his beard or washed his clothes from the day the king had left until the day he came home in peace.

26. అందుకతడునా యేలినవాడా రాజా, నీ దాసుడనైన నేను కుంటివాడను గనుక గాడిదమీద గంత కట్టించి యెక్కి రాజుతో కూడ వెళ్లిపోదునని నేనను కొనగా నా పనివాడు నన్ను మోసము చేసెను.

26. When he came to Yerushalayim to meet the king, the king said to him, 'Why didn't you go with me, M'fivoshet?'

27. సీబా నీ దాసుడనైన నన్ను గూర్చి నా యేలినవాడవును రాజవునగు నీతో అబద్ధమాడెను. అయితే నా యేలినవాడవును రాజవునగు నీవు దేవదూత వంటివాడవు, నీ దృష్టికి ఏది యనుకూలమో దాని చేయుము.

27. He answered, 'My lord king, my servant deceived me. I your servant had said, 'I will saddle a donkey for myself to ride on and go with the king,' since your servant is lame.

28. నా తండ్రి యింటి వారందరు నా యేలినవాడవును రాజవునగు నీ దృష్టికి మృతుల వంటివారై యుండగా, నీవు నీ బల్లయొద్ద భోజనము చేయువారిలో నీ దాసుడనైన నన్ను చేర్చితివి. కాబట్టి ఇకను రాజవైన నీకు మొఱ్ఱపెట్టుటకు నాకేమి న్యాయమని అనగా

28. But he slandered me your servant to my lord the king. However, my lord the king is like an angel of God; so do whatever seems right to you.

29. రాజునీ సంగతులను నీవిక ఎందులకు ఎత్తెదవు? నీవును సీబాయును భూమిని పంచుకొనుడని నేనాజ్ఞ ఇచ్చితిని గదా అనెను.

29. For all my father's household deserved death at the hand of my lord the king; nevertheless you placed your servant with those who eat at your own table. I deserve nothing more; so why should I come crying any more to the king?'

30. అందుకు మెఫీబోషెతునా యేలినవాడవగు నీవు నీ నగరికి తిరిగి క్షేమముగా వచ్చియున్నావు గనుక అతడు అంతయు తీసికొన వచ్చుననెను.

30. The king said to him, 'Why speak any more about these matters of yours? I say: you and Tziva, divide the land.'

31. మరియు గిలాదీయుడగు బర్జిల్లయి రోగెలీమునుండి యొర్దాను అద్దరికి వచ్చి రాజుతోకూడ నది దాటెను.

31. M'fivoshet said to the king, 'Indeed, let him take it all; for me it's enough that my lord the king has come home in peace.'

32. బర్జిల్లయి యెనుబది సంవత్సరముల వయస్సుకలిగి బహు ముసలివాడై యుండెను. అతడు అధిక ఐశ్వర్యవంతుడు గనుక రాజు మహనయీములో నుండగా అతనికి భోజన పదార్థములను పంపించుచు వచ్చెను.

32. Barzillai the Gil'adi had come down from Roglim and passed on to the Yarden with the king to bring him across the Yarden.

33. యెరూషలేములో నాయొద్ద నిన్ను నిలిపి పోషించెదను, నీవు నాతోకూడ నది దాటవలెనని రాజు బర్జిల్లయితో సెలవియ్యగా

33. Barzillai was a very old man, eighty years old; he had provided for the king's needs when he was staying at Machanayim; for he was a wealthy man.

34. బర్జిల్లయిరాజవగు నీతోకూడ యెరూషలేమునకు వచ్చుటకు ఇక నేనెన్ని దినములు బ్రతుకబోవుదును?

34. The king said to Barzillai, 'Come on across with me, and I will provide for your needs with me in Yerushalayim.'

35. నేటికి నాకు ఎనుబది యేండ్లాయెను. సుఖదుఃఖములకున్న భేదమును నేను గుర్తింపగలనా? అన్నపానముల రుచి నీ దాసుడనైన నేను తెలిసికొనగలనా? గాయకుల యొక్కయు గాయకురాండ్రయొక్కయు స్వరము నాకు విన బడునా? కావున నీ దాసుడనగు నేను నా యేలిన వాడవును రాజవునగు నీకు ఎందుకు భారముగా నుండ వలెను?

35. Barzillai said to the king, 'How much longer can I live, that I should go up with the king to Yerushalayim?

36. నీ దాసుడనైన నేను నీతోకూడ నది దాటి అవతలకు కొంచెము దూరము వచ్చెదను గాని రాజవగు నీవు నాకంత ప్రత్యుపకారము చేయనేల?

36. I am now eighty years old. Can I tell good from bad? Can your servant even taste what he eats or drinks? Can I hear the voice of men and women singing any more? Why should your servant burden my lord the king?

37. నేను నా ఊరి యందుండి మరణమై నా తలిదండ్రుల సమాధియందు పాతిపెట్టబడుటకై అచ్చటికి తిరిగి పోవునట్లు నాకు సెలవిమ్ము, చిత్తగించుము, నీ దాసుడగు కింహాము నా యేలిన వాడవును రాజవునగు నీతోకూడ వచ్చుటకు సెలవిమ్ము; నీ దృష్టికి ఏది యనుకూలమో దానిని అతనికి చేయుమని మనవి చేయగా

37. Your servant only wants to cross the Yarden with the king; why should the king reward this so generously?

38. రాజుకింహాము నాతోకూడ రావచ్చును, నీ దృష్టికి అనుకూలమైన దానిని నేను అతనికి చేసెదను, మరియు నావలన నీవు కోరునదంతయు నేను చేసెదనని సెలవిచ్చెను.

38. Please, just let your servant go back and die in my own city, near the grave of my father and mother. But here is your servant Khimham; let him cross with my lord the king; and do for him whatever seems good to you.'

39. జనులందరును రాజును నది యవతలకు రాగా రాజు బర్జిల్లయిని ముద్దుపెట్టుకొని దీవించెను; తరువాత బర్జిల్లయి తన స్థలమునకు వెళ్లిపోయెను.

39. The king answered, 'Khimham will cross with me, and I will do for him whatever seems good to you. Whatever you ask of me, I will do for you.'

40. యూదా వారందరును ఇశ్రాయేలువారిలో సగము మందియు రాజును తోడుకొని రాగా రాజు కింహామును వెంటబెట్టుకొని గిల్గాలునకు వచ్చెను.

40. So all the people crossed the Yarden; and the king crossed too. The king kissed Barzillai and blessed him; then he returned to his home.

41. ఇట్లుండగా ఇశ్రాయేలు వారందరును రాజునొద్దకు వచ్చిమా సహోదరులగు యూదావారు ఎందుకు నిన్ను దొంగిలించుకొని నీ యింటివారిని నీవారిని యొర్దాను ఇవతలకు తోడుకొని వచ్చిరని యడుగగా

41. The king crossed over to Gilgal, and Khimham crossed with him. All the people of Y'hudah brought the king across, as did half the people of Isra'el.

42. యూదా వారందరురాజు మీకు సమీపబంధువుడై యున్నాడు గదా, మీకు కోపమెందుకు? ఆలాగుండినను మాలో ఎవరమైనను రాజు సొమ్ము ఏమైనను తింటిమా? మాకు యినాము ఏమైన ఇచ్చెనా? అని ఇశ్రాయేలువారితో అనిరి.

42. Now all the men of Isra'el came to the king and said to him, 'Why have our kinsmen, the men of Y'hudah, stolen you away and brought the king and his household across the Yarden, and all David's men with him?'

43. అందుకు ఇశ్రాయేలు వారురాజులో మాకు పది భాగములున్నవి; మీకంటె మేము దావీదునందు అధిక స్వాతంత్ర్యము గలవారము; రాజును తోడుకొని వచ్చుటనుగురించి మీతో ముందుగా మాటలాడినవారము మేమే గదా మీరు మమ్మును నిర్లక్ష్యము చేసితిరేమి? అని యూదా వారితో పలికిరి. యూదా వారి మాటలు ఇశ్రాయేలు వారి మాటలకంటె కఠినముగా ఉండెను.

43. All the men of Y'hudah answered the men of Isra'el, 'Because the king is our close relative. Why are you angry about this? Have we eaten anything at the king's expense? Has any gift been given to us?'
