1. ఇది జరిగిన తరువాతయూదా పట్టణములలోనికి నేను పోదునా అని దావీదు యెహోవాయొద్ద విచారణ చేయగాపోవచ్చునని యెహోవా అతనికి సెలవిచ్చెను. నేను పోవలసిన స్థలమేదని దావీదు మనవి చేయగాహెబ్రోనుకు పొమ్మని ఆయన సెలవిచ్చెను.

1. Later, David prayed to the Lord, saying, 'Should I go up to any of the cities of Judah?' The Lord said to David, 'Go.' David asked, 'Where should I go?' The Lord answered, 'To Hebron.'

2. కాబట్టి యెజ్రెయేలీయురాలగు అహీనోయము, కర్మెలీయుడగు నాబాలునకు భార్యయైన అబీగయీలు అను తన యిద్దరు భార్యలను వెంటబెట్టుకొని దావీదు అక్కడికి పోయెను.

2. So David went up to Hebron with his two wives: Ahinoam from Jezreel and Abigail, the widow of Nabal from Carmel.

3. మరియు దావీదు తనయొద్ద నున్నవారినందరిని వారి వారి యింటివారిని తోడుకొని వచ్చెను; వీరు హెబ్రోను గ్రామములలో కాపురముండిరి.

3. David also brought his men and their families, and they all made their homes in the cities of Hebron.

4. అంతట యూదావారు అక్కడికి వచ్చి యూదావారిమీద రాజుగా దావీదునకు పట్టాభిషేకము చేసిరి.

4. Then the men of Judah came to Hebron and appointed David king over Judah. They told David that the men of Jabesh Gilead had buried Saul.

5. సౌలును పాతిపెట్టినవారు యాబేష్గిలాదువారని దావీదు తెలిసికొని యాబేష్గిలాదువారియొద్దకు దూతలను పంపిమీరు ఉపకారము చూపి మీ యేలినవాడైన సౌలును పాతిపెట్టితిరి గనుక యెహోవాచేత మీరు ఆశీర్వచనము నొందుదురు గాక.

5. So David sent messengers to the men of Jabesh Gilead and said to them, 'The Lord bless you. You have shown loyalty to your master Saul by burying him.

6. యెహోవా మీకు కృపను సత్యస్వభావమును అగపరచును, నేనును మీరు చేసిన యీ క్రియనుబట్టి మీకు ప్రత్యుపకారము చేసెదను.

6. May the Lord now be loyal and true to you. I will also treat you well because you have done this.

7. మీ యజమానుడగు సౌలు మృతినొందెను గాని యూదావారు నాకు తమమీద రాజుగా పట్టాభిషేకము చేసియున్నారు గనుక మీరు ధైర్యము తెచ్చుకొని బలాఢ్యులై యుండుడని ఆజ్ఞనిచ్చెను.

7. Now be strong and brave. Saul your master is dead, and the people of Judah have appointed me their king.'

8. నేరు కుమారుడగు అబ్నేరు అను సౌలుయొక్క సైన్యాధిపతి సౌలు కుమారుడగు ఇష్బోషెతును మహ నయీమునకు తోడుకొని పోయి,

8. Abner son of Ner was the commander of Saul's army. Abner took Saul's son Ish-Bosheth to Mahanaim

9. గిలాదువారిమీదను ఆషేరీయులమీదను యెజ్రెయేలుమీదను ఎఫ్రాయిమీయులమీదను బెన్యామీనీయులమీదను ఇశ్రాయేలు వారిమీదను రాజుగా అతనికి పట్టాభిషేకము చేసెను.

9. and made him king of Gilead, Ashuri, Jezreel, Ephraim, Benjamin, and all Israel.

10. సౌలు కుమారుడగు ఇష్బోషెతు నలువదేండ్లవాడై యేల నారంభించి రెండు సంవత్సరములు పరిపాలించెను; అయితే యూదావారు దావీదు పక్షమున నుండిరి.

10. Saul's son Ish-Bosheth was forty years old when he became king over Israel, and he ruled two years. But the people of Judah followed David.

11. దావీదు హెబ్రోనులో యూదావారిమీద ఏలినకాలమంతయు ఏడు సంవత్సరములు ఆరు మాసములు.

11. David was king in Hebron for seven years and six months.

12. అంతలో నేరు కుమారుడగు అబ్నేరును సౌలు కుమారు డగు ఇష్బోషెతు సేవకులును మహనయీములోనుండి బయలుదేరి గిబియోనునకు రాగా

12. Abner son of Ner and the servants of Ish-Bosheth son of Saul left Mahanaim and went to Gibeon.

13. సెరూయా కుమారుడగు యోవాబును దావీదు సేవకులును బయలుదేరి వారి నెదిరించుటకై గిబియోను కొలనునకు వచ్చిరి. వీరు కొలనునకు ఈ తట్టునను వారు కొలనునకు ఆ తట్టునను దిగియుండగా

13. Joab son of Zeruiah and David's men also went there and met Abner and Ish-Bosheth's men at the pool of Gibeon. Abner's group sat on one side of the pool; Joab's group sat on the other.

14. అబ్నేరు లేచిమన యెదుట ¸యౌవనులు మల్లచేష్టలు చేయుదురా అని యోవాబుతో అనగా యోవాబువారు చేయవచ్చుననెను.

14. Abner said to Joab, 'Let the young men have a contest here.' Joab said, 'Yes, let them have a contest.'

15. లెక్కకు సరిగా సౌలు కుమారుడగు ఇష్బోషెతు సంబంధులైన పన్నిద్దరు మంది బెన్యామీనీయులును దావీదు సేవకులలో పన్నిద్దరు మందియును లేచి మధ్య నిలిచిరి.

15. Then the men got up and were counted -- twelve from the people of Benjamin for Ish-Bosheth son of Saul, and twelve from David's men.

16. ఒక్కొక్కడు తన దగ్గరనున్న వాని తల పట్టుకొని వాని ప్రక్కను కత్తిపొడవగా అందరు తటాలున పడిరి. అందువలన హెల్కత్హన్సూరీమని ఆ స్థలమునకు పేరు పెట్టబడెను. అది గిబియోనునకు సమీపము.

16. Each man grabbed the one opposite him by the head and stabbed him in the side with a knife. So the men fell down together. For that reason, that place in Gibeon is called the Field of Knives.

17. తరువాత ఆ దినమున ఘోరయుద్ధము జరుగగా అబ్నేరును ఇశ్రాయేలువారును దావీదు సేవకుల యెదుట నిలువలేక పారిపోయిరి.

17. That day there was a terrible battle, and David's men defeated Abner and the Israelites.

18. సెరూయా ముగ్గురు కుమారులగు యోవాబును అబీషై యును అశాహేలును అచ్చట నుండిరి. అశాహేలు అడవిలేడియంత తేలికగా పరుగెత్తగలవాడు గనుక

18. Zeruiah's three sons, Joab, Abishai, and Asahel, were there. Now Asahel was a fast runner, as fast as a deer in the field.

19. అతడు కుడితట్టయినను ఎడమతట్టయినను తిరుగక అబ్నేరును తరుముచుండగా

19. Asahel chased Abner, going straight toward him.

20. అబ్నేరు వెనుకకు తిరిగినీవు అశా హేలువా అని అతనిని నడుగగా అతడు నేను అశా హేలునే యనెను.

20. Abner looked back and asked, 'Is that you, Asahel?' Asahel said, 'Yes, it is.'

21. Then Abner said to Asahel, 'Turn to your right or left and catch one of the young men and take his armor.' But Asahel refused to stop chasing him.

22. అబ్నేరునన్ను తరుముట మాని తొలగిపొమ్ము, నేను నిన్ను నేలకు కొట్టి చంపినయెడల నీ సహోదరుడగు యోవాబు ముందు నేనెట్లు తలనెత్తుకొనగల ననెను.

22. Abner again said to Asahel, 'Stop chasing me! If you don't stop, I'll have to kill you! Then I won't be able to face your brother Joab again!'

23. అతడునేను తొలగననగా, అబ్నేరు ఈటె మడమతో అతని కడుపులో పొడిచినందున యీటె అతని వెనుకకు వచ్చెను కనుక అతడు అచ్చటనే పడి చచ్చెను. అశాహేలు పడి చచ్చిన స్థలమునకు వచ్చినవారందరు నిలువబడిరి గాని

23. But Asahel refused to stop chasing Abner. So using the back end of his spear, Abner stabbed Asahel in the stomach, and the spear came out of his back. Asahel died right there, and everyone stopped when they came to the place where Asahel's body lay.

24. యోవాబును అబీషైయును అబ్నేరును తరుముచు గిబియోనను అరణ్యమార్గములోని గీహ యెదుటి అమ్మాయను కొండకు వచ్చిరి; అంతలో సూర్యుడు అస్త మించెను.

24. But Joab and Abishai continued chasing Abner. As the sun was going down, they arrived at the hill of Ammah, near Giah on the way to the desert near Gibeon.

25. బెన్యామీనీయులు అబ్నేరుతో గుంపుగా కూడుకొని, ఒక కొండమీద నిలువగా

25. The men of Benjamin came to Abner, and all stood together at the top of the hill.

26. అబ్నేరు కేకవేసికత్తి చిరకాలము భక్షించునా? అది తుదకు ద్వేషమునకే హేతువగునని నీ వెరుగుదువుగదా; తమ సహోదరులను తరుమవద్దని నీ వెంతవరకు జనులకు ఆజ్ఞ ఇయ్యక యుందు వని యోవాబుతో అనెను.

26. Abner shouted to Joab, 'Must the sword kill forever? Surely you must know this will only end in sadness! Tell the people to stop chasing their own brothers!'

27. అందుకు యోవాబుదేవుని జీవముతోడు జగడమునకు నీవు వారిని పిలువక యుండినయెడల జనులందరు తమ సహోదరులను తరుమక ఉదయముననే తిరిగి పోయియుందురని చెప్పి

27. Then Joab said, 'As surely as God lives, if you had not said anything, the people would have chased their brothers until morning.'

28. బాకా ఊదగా జనులందరు నిలిచి, ఇశ్రాయేలువారిని తరుముటయు వారితో యుద్ధము చేయుటయు మానిరి.

28. Then Joab blew a trumpet, and his people stopped chasing the Israelites. They did not fight them anymore.

29. అబ్నేరును అతనివారును ఆ రాత్రి అంత మైదానము గుండ ప్రయాణము చేసి యొర్దానునది దాటి బిత్రోను మార్గమున మహనయీమునకు వచ్చిరి.

29. Abner and his men marched all night through the Jordan Valley. They crossed the Jordan River, and after marching all day, arrived at Mahanaim.

30. యోవాబు అబ్నేరును తరుముట మాని తిరిగి వచ్చి జనులను సమకూర్చి లెక్కచూడగా దావీదు సేవకులలో అశాహేలు గాక పందొమ్మండుగురు లేకపోయిరి.

30. After he had stopped chasing Abner, Joab came back and gathered the people together. Asahel and nineteen of David's men were missing.

31. అయితే దావీదు సేవకులు బెన్యామీనీయులలోను అబ్నేరు జనులలోను మూడువందల అరువది మందిని హతము చేసిరి.

31. But David's men had killed three hundred sixty Benjaminites who had followed Abner.

32. జనులు అశాహేలును ఎత్తికొనిపోయి బేత్లెహేములోనున్న అతని తండ్రి సమాధియందు పాతిపెట్టిరి. తరువాత యోవాబును అతనివారును రాత్రి అంతయు నడిచి తెల్లవారు సమయమున హెబ్రోనునకు వచ్చిరి.

32. David's men took Asahel and buried him in the tomb of his father at Bethlehem. Then Joab and his men marched all night. The sun came up as they reached Hebron.
