1. ఇది జరిగిన తరువాతయూదా పట్టణములలోనికి నేను పోదునా అని దావీదు యెహోవాయొద్ద విచారణ చేయగాపోవచ్చునని యెహోవా అతనికి సెలవిచ్చెను. నేను పోవలసిన స్థలమేదని దావీదు మనవి చేయగాహెబ్రోనుకు పొమ్మని ఆయన సెలవిచ్చెను.

1. After this, David consulted ADONAI; he asked, 'Should I go up into any of the cities of Y'hudah?' ADONAI said to him, 'Go up.' David asked, 'Where should I go up?' He said, 'To Hevron.'

2. కాబట్టి యెజ్రెయేలీయురాలగు అహీనోయము, కర్మెలీయుడగు నాబాలునకు భార్యయైన అబీగయీలు అను తన యిద్దరు భార్యలను వెంటబెట్టుకొని దావీదు అక్కడికి పోయెను.

2. So David went up there with his two wives Achino'am from Yizre'el and Avigayil the widow of Naval from Karmel.

3. మరియు దావీదు తనయొద్ద నున్నవారినందరిని వారి వారి యింటివారిని తోడుకొని వచ్చెను; వీరు హెబ్రోను గ్రామములలో కాపురముండిరి.

3. David brought the men up with him, each with his household; and they lived in the cities of Hevron.

4. అంతట యూదావారు అక్కడికి వచ్చి యూదావారిమీద రాజుగా దావీదునకు పట్టాభిషేకము చేసిరి.

4. Then the men of Y'hudah came, and there they anointed David king over the house of Y'hudah. They informed David that the men of Yavesh-Gil'ad were the ones who had buried Sha'ul.

5. సౌలును పాతిపెట్టినవారు యాబేష్గిలాదువారని దావీదు తెలిసికొని యాబేష్గిలాదువారియొద్దకు దూతలను పంపిమీరు ఉపకారము చూపి మీ యేలినవాడైన సౌలును పాతిపెట్టితిరి గనుక యెహోవాచేత మీరు ఆశీర్వచనము నొందుదురు గాక.

5. So David sent messengers to the men of Yavesh-Gil'ad with this message: 'May you be blessed by ADONAI, because you showed this kindness to your lord, Sha'ul, and buried him.

6. యెహోవా మీకు కృపను సత్యస్వభావమును అగపరచును, నేనును మీరు చేసిన యీ క్రియనుబట్టి మీకు ప్రత్యుపకారము చేసెదను.

6. Now may ADONAI show kindness and truth to you; and I too will show you favor because you have done this.

7. మీ యజమానుడగు సౌలు మృతినొందెను గాని యూదావారు నాకు తమమీద రాజుగా పట్టాభిషేకము చేసియున్నారు గనుక మీరు ధైర్యము తెచ్చుకొని బలాఢ్యులై యుండుడని ఆజ్ఞనిచ్చెను.

7. Be strong, and be brave. Sha'ul your lord is dead, but the house of Y'hudah have anointed me king over them.'

8. నేరు కుమారుడగు అబ్నేరు అను సౌలుయొక్క సైన్యాధిపతి సౌలు కుమారుడగు ఇష్బోషెతును మహ నయీమునకు తోడుకొని పోయి,

8. Avner the son of Ner, commander of Sha'ul's army, had taken Ish-Boshet the son of Sha'ul, brought him over to Machanayim,

9. గిలాదువారిమీదను ఆషేరీయులమీదను యెజ్రెయేలుమీదను ఎఫ్రాయిమీయులమీదను బెన్యామీనీయులమీదను ఇశ్రాయేలు వారిమీదను రాజుగా అతనికి పట్టాభిషేకము చేసెను.

9. and made him king over Gil'ad, the Ashuri, Yizre'el, Efrayim, Binyamin and all Isra'el.

10. సౌలు కుమారుడగు ఇష్బోషెతు నలువదేండ్లవాడై యేల నారంభించి రెండు సంవత్సరములు పరిపాలించెను; అయితే యూదావారు దావీదు పక్షమున నుండిరి.

10. Ish-Boshet the son of Sha'ul was forty years old when he began to rule over Isra'el, and he ruled for two years. But the house of Y'hudah followed David.

11. దావీదు హెబ్రోనులో యూదావారిమీద ఏలినకాలమంతయు ఏడు సంవత్సరములు ఆరు మాసములు.

11. David was king in Hevron over the house of Y'hudah for seven years and six months.

12. అంతలో నేరు కుమారుడగు అబ్నేరును సౌలు కుమారు డగు ఇష్బోషెతు సేవకులును మహనయీములోనుండి బయలుదేరి గిబియోనునకు రాగా

12. Avner the son of Ner and the servants of Ish-Boshet the son of Sha'ul went out from Machanayim to Giv'on;

13. సెరూయా కుమారుడగు యోవాబును దావీదు సేవకులును బయలుదేరి వారి నెదిరించుటకై గిబియోను కొలనునకు వచ్చిరి. వీరు కొలనునకు ఈ తట్టునను వారు కొలనునకు ఆ తట్టునను దిగియుండగా

13. while Yo'av the son of Tz'ruyah and David's servants also went out; and they met together by the pool at Giv'on. One group sat down on one side of the pool and the other on the other side.

14. అబ్నేరు లేచిమన యెదుట ¸యౌవనులు మల్లచేష్టలు చేయుదురా అని యోవాబుతో అనగా యోవాబువారు చేయవచ్చుననెను.

14. Avner said to Yo'av, 'If it's all right with you, let's have the young men get up and fight it out between themselves, while we watch.' Yo'av said, 'Yes, let them.'

15. లెక్కకు సరిగా సౌలు కుమారుడగు ఇష్బోషెతు సంబంధులైన పన్నిద్దరు మంది బెన్యామీనీయులును దావీదు సేవకులలో పన్నిద్దరు మందియును లేచి మధ్య నిలిచిరి.

15. So they got up and paired off, twelve for Binyamin and Ish-Boshet the son of Sha'ul, and twelve of David's servants.

16. ఒక్కొక్కడు తన దగ్గరనున్న వాని తల పట్టుకొని వాని ప్రక్కను కత్తిపొడవగా అందరు తటాలున పడిరి. అందువలన హెల్కత్హన్సూరీమని ఆ స్థలమునకు పేరు పెట్టబడెను. అది గిబియోనునకు సమీపము.

16. Each one grabbed his partner by the head and drove his sword into his side, so that they fell down together. For this reason that place was named Helkat-Hatzurim [[field of blades]]; it is in Giv'on.

17. తరువాత ఆ దినమున ఘోరయుద్ధము జరుగగా అబ్నేరును ఇశ్రాయేలువారును దావీదు సేవకుల యెదుట నిలువలేక పారిపోయిరి.

17. The battle that day was very fierce; Avner and the men of Isra'el were beaten by David's servants.

18. సెరూయా ముగ్గురు కుమారులగు యోవాబును అబీషై యును అశాహేలును అచ్చట నుండిరి. అశాహేలు అడవిలేడియంత తేలికగా పరుగెత్తగలవాడు గనుక

18. The three sons of Tz'ruyah were there, Yo'av, Avishai and 'Asah'el. 'Asah'el was as fleet-footed as a gazelle in an open field.

19. అతడు కుడితట్టయినను ఎడమతట్టయినను తిరుగక అబ్నేరును తరుముచుండగా

19. 'Asah'el chased Avner, going straight for him, veering neither right nor left.

20. అబ్నేరు వెనుకకు తిరిగినీవు అశా హేలువా అని అతనిని నడుగగా అతడు నేను అశా హేలునే యనెను.

20. Avner looked behind him and asked, 'Is that you, 'Asah'el?' 'Yes, it is,' he answered.

21. Avner said to him, 'Turn off to your right or your left, catch one of the young men and take his armor.' But 'Asah'el wouldn't turn aside and kept following him.

22. అబ్నేరునన్ను తరుముట మాని తొలగిపొమ్ము, నేను నిన్ను నేలకు కొట్టి చంపినయెడల నీ సహోదరుడగు యోవాబు ముందు నేనెట్లు తలనెత్తుకొనగల ననెను.

22. Avner said again to 'Asah'el, 'Turn aside and stop following me! Why should I kill you? If I did, how could I look your brother Yo'av in the eye?'

23. అతడునేను తొలగననగా, అబ్నేరు ఈటె మడమతో అతని కడుపులో పొడిచినందున యీటె అతని వెనుకకు వచ్చెను కనుక అతడు అచ్చటనే పడి చచ్చెను. అశాహేలు పడి చచ్చిన స్థలమునకు వచ్చినవారందరు నిలువబడిరి గాని

23. But he still refused to turn aside; so Avner stabbed him in the groin with the back end of the spear, so that the shaft protruded behind him. He fell down and died on the spot. Everyone who came to the place where 'Asah'el lay dead stopped there.

24. యోవాబును అబీషైయును అబ్నేరును తరుముచు గిబియోనను అరణ్యమార్గములోని గీహ యెదుటి అమ్మాయను కొండకు వచ్చిరి; అంతలో సూర్యుడు అస్త మించెను.

24. Yo'av and Avishai continued in pursuit of Avner; the sun went down when they arrived at Amah Hill, across from Giach along the Giv'on Desert road.

25. బెన్యామీనీయులు అబ్నేరుతో గుంపుగా కూడుకొని, ఒక కొండమీద నిలువగా

25. The people of Binyamin gathered themselves together into a phalanx behind Avner and stood on top of a hill.

26. అబ్నేరు కేకవేసికత్తి చిరకాలము భక్షించునా? అది తుదకు ద్వేషమునకే హేతువగునని నీ వెరుగుదువుగదా; తమ సహోదరులను తరుమవద్దని నీ వెంతవరకు జనులకు ఆజ్ఞ ఇయ్యక యుందు వని యోవాబుతో అనెను.

26. Then Avner called out to Yo'av, 'Must the sword go on devouring forever? Don't you know that in the end it can produce only bitterness? How long will it be, then, before you tell the people to quit pursuing their brothers?'

27. అందుకు యోవాబుదేవుని జీవముతోడు జగడమునకు నీవు వారిని పిలువక యుండినయెడల జనులందరు తమ సహోదరులను తరుమక ఉదయముననే తిరిగి పోయియుందురని చెప్పి

27. Yo'av said, 'As God lives, if you hadn't said something, there is no doubt that the people would have kept following their brothers all night long.'

28. బాకా ఊదగా జనులందరు నిలిచి, ఇశ్రాయేలువారిని తరుముటయు వారితో యుద్ధము చేయుటయు మానిరి.

28. Then Yo'av sounded the [shofar], and with that the people halted. They stopped pursuing Isra'el, and they stopped fighting.

29. అబ్నేరును అతనివారును ఆ రాత్రి అంత మైదానము గుండ ప్రయాణము చేసి యొర్దానునది దాటి బిత్రోను మార్గమున మహనయీమునకు వచ్చిరి.

29. Avner and his men went through the 'Aravah all that night; they crossed the Yarden, went through all of Bitron and arrived at Machanayim.

30. యోవాబు అబ్నేరును తరుముట మాని తిరిగి వచ్చి జనులను సమకూర్చి లెక్కచూడగా దావీదు సేవకులలో అశాహేలు గాక పందొమ్మండుగురు లేకపోయిరి.

30. Yo'av returned from following Avner. When he brought the troops together for review, nineteen of David's servants were missing, along with 'Asah'el.

31. అయితే దావీదు సేవకులు బెన్యామీనీయులలోను అబ్నేరు జనులలోను మూడువందల అరువది మందిని హతము చేసిరి.

31. But David's servants had killed 360 of Avner's men of Binyamin.

32. జనులు అశాహేలును ఎత్తికొనిపోయి బేత్లెహేములోనున్న అతని తండ్రి సమాధియందు పాతిపెట్టిరి. తరువాత యోవాబును అతనివారును రాత్రి అంతయు నడిచి తెల్లవారు సమయమున హెబ్రోనునకు వచ్చిరి.

32. They took 'Asah'el and buried him in his father's tomb in Beit-Lechem. Then Yo'av and his men marched all night, so that they reached Hevron at daybreak.
