1. హెబ్రోనులో అబ్నేరు చనిపోయెనను సంగతి సౌలు కుమారుడు విని అధైర్యపడెను, ఇశ్రాయేలు వారి కందరికి ఏమియు తోచకయుండెను.

1. When Saul's son heard that Abner was dead in Hebron, his hands fainted and all Israel was troubled.

2. సౌలు కుమారునికి సైన్యాధిపతులుండిరి; వారిలో ఒకని పేరు బయనా, రెండవవానిపేరు రేకాబు; వీరు బెన్యామీనీయులకు చేరిన బెయేరోతీయుడగు రిమ్మోను కుమారులు. బెయే రోతుకూడను బెన్యామీనీయుల దేశములో చేరినదని యెంచబడెను.

2. Now this Saul's son had two men that were become captains over the soldiers, the one called Baanah and the other Rechab, the sons of Remon a Berothite, and of the children of Benjamin: for Beroth was reckoned to pertain to Benjamin.

3. అయితే బెయేరోతీయులు గిత్తయీమునకు పారిపోయి నేటివరకు అక్కడి కాపురస్థులైయున్నారు.

3. And these Berothites fled to Gethaim and sojourned there until the same time.

4. సౌలు కుమారుడగు యోనాతానునకు కుంటివాడగు కుమారుడు ఒకడుండెను. యెజ్రెయేలునుండి సౌలును గురించియు యోనాతానును గురించియు వర్తమానమువచ్చి నప్పుడు వాడు అయిదేండ్లవాడు; వాని దాది వానిని ఎత్తికొని పరుగు పరుగున పారిపోగా వాడు పడి కుంటివాడాయెను. వాని పేరు మెఫీబోషెతు.

4. And Jonathas Saul's son had a son that was lame on his feet: five years old was he when the tidings came of Saul and Jonathas out of Jezrahel. And his nurse took him up and fled away. And as she made haste to flee and was amazed, the child fell and became halt and was called Miphiboseth.

5. రిమ్మోను కుమారులగు రేకాబును బయనాయును మంచి యెండవేళ బయలుదేరి మధ్యాహ్నకాలమున ఇష్బోషెతు మంచముమీద పండుకొనియుండగా అతని యింటికి వచ్చిరి.

5. And these sons of Remon the Berothite, Rechab and Baanah went, and came in the heat of the day to the house of Isboseth, as he slept on a bed at noon.

6. గోధుమలు తెచ్చెదమని వేషము వేసికొని వారు ఇంటిలో చొచ్చి, ఇష్బోషెతు పడకటింట మంచము మీద పరుండియుండగా అతనిని కడుపులో పొడిచి తప్పించుకొనిపోయిరి.

6. And behold they came into the house as though they would have bought wheat, and smote him under the short ribs and fled.

7. వారతని పొడిచి చంపి అతని తలను ఛేదించి దానిని తీసికొని రాత్రి అంతయు మైదాన ములో బడి ప్రయాణమైపోయి హెబ్రోనులోనున్న దావీదునొద్దకు ఇష్బోషెతు తలను తీసికొనివచ్చిచిత్త గించుము;

7. For they came into the house as he slept on his bed in his resting chamber, and smote him and slew him and beheaded him and took his head and gat them away thorow the wild fields all night.

8. నీ ప్రాణము తీయచూచిన సౌలుకుమారుడైన ఇష్బోషెతు తలను మేము తెచ్చియున్నాము; ఈ దినమున యెహోవా మా యేలినవాడవును రాజవునగు నీ పక్షమున సౌలుకును అతని సంతతికిని ప్రతికారము చేసి యున్నాడని చెప్పగా

8. And they brought the head of Isboseth unto David, to Hebron and said to the king: behold there the head of Isboseth Saul's son thine enemy, which sought thy soul. But the LORD hath avenged my lord the king this day of Saul and of his seed.

9. దావీదు బెయేరోతీయుడగు రిమ్మోను కుమారులైన రేకాబుతోను బయనాతోను ఇట్లనెను

9. And David answered Rechab and Baanah his brother, the sons of Remon the Berothite and said unto them: as surely as the LORD liveth which hath delivered my soul out of all adversities:

10. మంచి వర్తమానము తెచ్చితినని తలంచియొకడు వచ్చి సౌలు చచ్చెనని నాకు తెలియజెప్పగా

10. him that told me how that Saul was dead, thinking to have brought me good tidings, I caught and slew in Zikeleg, to give him a reward for his tidings bringing.

11. వాడు తెచ్చిన వర్తమానమునకు బహుమానముగా సిక్లగులో నేను వానిని పట్టుకొని చంపించితిని. కావున దుర్మార్గులైన మీరు ఇష్బోషెతు ఇంటిలో చొరబడి, అతని మంచము మీదనే నిర్దోషియగువానిని చంపినప్పుడు మీచేత అతని ప్రాణదోషము విచారింపక పోవుదునా? లోకములో ఉండకుండ నేను మిమ్మును తీసివేయక మానుదునా?

11. And how much more ought I to deal with wicked men that have slain a righteous person in his own house upon his bed? Now therefore think ye that I will not require his blood of your hands and take you from the earth?

12. సకలమైన ఉపద్రవములలోనుండి నన్ను రక్షించిన యెహోవా జీవముతోడు మాననని చెప్పి, దావీదు తన వారికి ఆజ్ఞ ఇయ్యగా వారు ఆ మనుష్యులను చంపి వారి చేతులను కాళ్లను నరికి వారి శవములను హెబ్రోను కొలనుదగ్గర వ్రేలాడగట్టిరి. తరువాత వారు ఇష్బోషెతు తలను తీసికొనిపోయి హెబ్రోనులో అబ్నేరు సమాధిలో పాతి పెట్టిరి.

12. And David commanded his young men, and they slew them and cut off their hands and their feet and hanged them up by the pole in Hebron. And they took the head of Isboseth and buried it in the sepulchre of Abner in Hebron.
