1. హెబ్రోనులో అబ్నేరు చనిపోయెనను సంగతి సౌలు కుమారుడు విని అధైర్యపడెను, ఇశ్రాయేలు వారి కందరికి ఏమియు తోచకయుండెను.

1. And Ishbosheth the son of Saul heard that Abner the son of Ner had died in Hebron; and his hands were paralyzed, and all the men of Israel grew faint.

2. సౌలు కుమారునికి సైన్యాధిపతులుండిరి; వారిలో ఒకని పేరు బయనా, రెండవవానిపేరు రేకాబు; వీరు బెన్యామీనీయులకు చేరిన బెయేరోతీయుడగు రిమ్మోను కుమారులు. బెయే రోతుకూడను బెన్యామీనీయుల దేశములో చేరినదని యెంచబడెను.

2. And Ishbosheth the son of Saul had two men that were captains of bands: the name of the one [was] Baanah, and the name of the other Rechab, sons of Rimmon the Berothite of the children of Benjamin; for Beeroth was reckoned to the children of Benjamin.

3. అయితే బెయేరోతీయులు గిత్తయీమునకు పారిపోయి నేటివరకు అక్కడి కాపురస్థులైయున్నారు.

3. And the Berothites ran away to Gittaim, and were sojourners there until this day.

4. సౌలు కుమారుడగు యోనాతానునకు కుంటివాడగు కుమారుడు ఒకడుండెను. యెజ్రెయేలునుండి సౌలును గురించియు యోనాతానును గురించియు వర్తమానమువచ్చి నప్పుడు వాడు అయిదేండ్లవాడు; వాని దాది వానిని ఎత్తికొని పరుగు పరుగున పారిపోగా వాడు పడి కుంటివాడాయెను. వాని పేరు మెఫీబోషెతు.

4. And Jonathan, Saul's son, [had] a son lame of his feet, five years old, and he was [in the way] when the news of Saul and Jonathan his son came from Jezreel, and his nurse took him up, and fled. And it came to pass as he made haste and retreated, that he fell, and was crippled. And his name [was] Mephibosheth.

5. రిమ్మోను కుమారులగు రేకాబును బయనాయును మంచి యెండవేళ బయలుదేరి మధ్యాహ్నకాలమున ఇష్బోషెతు మంచముమీద పండుకొనియుండగా అతని యింటికి వచ్చిరి.

5. And Rechab and Baanah, the sons of Rimmon the Berothite set out, and they came in the heat of the day into the house of Ishbosheth; and he was sleeping on a bed at noon.

6. గోధుమలు తెచ్చెదమని వేషము వేసికొని వారు ఇంటిలో చొచ్చి, ఇష్బోషెతు పడకటింట మంచము మీద పరుండియుండగా అతనిని కడుపులో పొడిచి తప్పించుకొనిపోయిరి.

6. And behold, the porter of the house winnowed wheat, and he slumbered and slept. And the brothers Rechab and Baanah went secretly into the house.

7. వారతని పొడిచి చంపి అతని తలను ఛేదించి దానిని తీసికొని రాత్రి అంతయు మైదాన ములో బడి ప్రయాణమైపోయి హెబ్రోనులోనున్న దావీదునొద్దకు ఇష్బోషెతు తలను తీసికొనివచ్చిచిత్త గించుము;

7. And Ishbosheth was sleeping on his bed in his chamber. And they struck him, and killed him, and took off his head. And they took his head, and went all the night by the western road.

8. నీ ప్రాణము తీయచూచిన సౌలుకుమారుడైన ఇష్బోషెతు తలను మేము తెచ్చియున్నాము; ఈ దినమున యెహోవా మా యేలినవాడవును రాజవునగు నీ పక్షమున సౌలుకును అతని సంతతికిని ప్రతికారము చేసి యున్నాడని చెప్పగా

8. And they brought the head of Ishbosheth to David at Hebron, and they said to the king, Behold the head of Ishbosheth the son of Saul your enemy, who sought your life; and the Lord has executed vengeance on His enemies for my lord the king, as [it is] this day: even on Saul your enemy, and on his seed.

9. దావీదు బెయేరోతీయుడగు రిమ్మోను కుమారులైన రేకాబుతోను బయనాతోను ఇట్లనెను

9. And David answered Rechab and Baanah his brother, the sons of Rimmon the Berothite, and said to them, [As] the Lord lives, who has redeemed my soul out of all affliction;

10. మంచి వర్తమానము తెచ్చితినని తలంచియొకడు వచ్చి సౌలు చచ్చెనని నాకు తెలియజెప్పగా

10. he that reported to me that Saul was dead, even he was as one bringing glad tidings before me. But I seized him and killed him in Ziklag, to whom I ought, [as he thought], to have given a reward or his tidings.

11. వాడు తెచ్చిన వర్తమానమునకు బహుమానముగా సిక్లగులో నేను వానిని పట్టుకొని చంపించితిని. కావున దుర్మార్గులైన మీరు ఇష్బోషెతు ఇంటిలో చొరబడి, అతని మంచము మీదనే నిర్దోషియగువానిని చంపినప్పుడు మీచేత అతని ప్రాణదోషము విచారింపక పోవుదునా? లోకములో ఉండకుండ నేను మిమ్మును తీసివేయక మానుదునా?

11. And now evil men have slain a righteous men in his house, [and] on his bed. Now then, I will require his blood from your hand, and I will destroy you from off the earth.

12. సకలమైన ఉపద్రవములలోనుండి నన్ను రక్షించిన యెహోవా జీవముతోడు మాననని చెప్పి, దావీదు తన వారికి ఆజ్ఞ ఇయ్యగా వారు ఆ మనుష్యులను చంపి వారి చేతులను కాళ్లను నరికి వారి శవములను హెబ్రోను కొలనుదగ్గర వ్రేలాడగట్టిరి. తరువాత వారు ఇష్బోషెతు తలను తీసికొనిపోయి హెబ్రోనులో అబ్నేరు సమాధిలో పాతి పెట్టిరి.

12. And David commanded his young men, and they killed them, and cut off their hands and their feet; and they hung them up at the fountain in Hebron. And they buried the head of Ishbosheth in the tomb of Abner the son of Ner.
