1. రెహబామునకు పట్టాభిషేకము చేయుటకు ఇశ్రా యేలీయులందరును షెకెమునకు రాగా రెహబాము షెకె మునకు పోయెను.

1. And Rehoboam went to Siche: for all Israel were come to Sichem, to make him king.

2. నెబాతు కుమారుడైన యరొబాము రాజైన సొలొమోను నొద్దనుండి పారి పోయి ఐగుప్తులో నివాసము చేయుచుండెను; యరొబాము ఇంక ఐగుప్తు లోనేయుండి ఆ సమాచారము వినెను.

2. And when Ieroboam the sonne of Nabat whiche was yet in Egypt, heard of it: for he fled to Egypt from the presence of king Solomon, and dwelt in Egypt.

3. జనులు అతని పిలువనంపగా యరొబామును ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల సమాజ మంతయును వచ్చి రెహబాముతో నీలాగు మనవి చేసిరి.

3. So they sent, and called him: and Ieroboam and all the congregation of Is-Israel came, & spake vnto Rehoboam, saying:

4. నీ తండ్రి బరువైన కాడిని మామీద ఉంచెను; నీ తండ్రి నియమించిన కఠినమైన దాస్యమును మామీద అతడు ఉంచిన బరువైన కాడిని నీవు చులకన చేసినయెడల మేము నీకు సేవచేయుదుము.

4. Thy father made our yocke greeuous, nowe therfore make thou the greenous seruice of thy father and his sore yocke whiche he put vpon vs, lighter, and we will serue thee.

5. అందుకు రాజుమీరు వెళ్లి మూడు దినములైన తరువాత నాయొద్దకు తిరిగి రండని సెలవియ్యగా జనులు వెళ్లిపోయిరి.

5. And he sayde vnto them: Depart yet for the space of three dayes, and then come againe to me. And the people departed.

6. అప్పుడు రాజైన రెహబాము తన తండ్రియైన సొలొమోను బ్రదికియున్నప్పుడు అతని సముఖమందు సేవచేసిన పెద్దలతో ఆలోచన చేసిఈ జనులకు ఏమి ప్రత్యుత్తరమిచ్చెదనని వారి నడుగగా

6. And king Rehoboam toke counsel with the olde men that stoode before Solomon his father, while he yet lyued, and sayd: What counsel geue ye, that I may haue matter to aunswere this people?

7. వారుఈ దినముననే నీవు ఈ జనులకు దాసుడవై వారికి సేవచేసి మృదువైన మాటలతో వారికి ప్రత్యుత్తర మిచ్చినయెడల వారు సదాకాలము నీకు దాసులగుదురనిరి.

7. And they sayd vnto him: If thou be a seruaunt vnto this people this day, and folowe their mindes, and aunswere them, & speake kinde wordes to them, they will be thy seruauntes for euer.

8. అయితే అతడు పెద్దలు తనతో చెప్పిన ఆలోచనను నిర్లక్ష్యపెట్టి, తనతో కూడ పెరిగిన ¸యౌవనులను పిలిచి ఆలోచన నడిగి, వారికీలాగు ప్రశ్నవేసెను

8. But he forsoke the counsell that the old men had geuen him, and called vnto his counsel young men, that were growe vp with him and wayted on him,

9. మామీద నీ తండ్రి యుంచిన కాడిని చులకన చేయుడని నాతో చెప్పుకొనిన యీ జనులకు ప్రత్యుత్తరమిచ్చుటకు ఏ ఆలోచన మీరు చెప్పుదురు?

9. And he sayde vnto them: What counsell geue ye, that we may aunswere this people? for they haue communed with me, saying: Make the yocke whiche thy father did put vpon vs, lighter.

10. అప్పుడు అతనితో కూడ ఎదిగిన ఆ ¸యౌవనస్థులు ఈ ఆలోచన చెప్పిరినీ తండ్రి మా కాడిని బరువైనదిగా చేసెను గాని నీవు దానిని చులకనగా చేయవలెనని నీతో చెప్పుకొనిన యీ జనులకు ఈలాగు ఆజ్ఞ ఇమ్మునా తండ్రి నడుముకంటె నా చిటికెన వ్రేలు పెద్దదిగా ఉండును.

10. And ye young men that were growen vp with him, spake vnto him, saying: Thus shalt thou speake vnto this people that haue sayd vnto thee, thy father made our yocke heauy, but make thou it vs lighter: Euen thus shalt thou say vnto them, My litle finger shalbe wayghtier then my father was in the loynes.

11. నా తండ్రి మీమీద బరువైన కాడిని పెట్టెను సరే, నేను ఆ కాడిని ఇంక బరువుగా చేయుదును; నా తండ్రి చబుకులతో మిమ్మును శిక్షించెనుసరే, నేను కొరడాలతో మిమ్మును శిక్షించుదును.

11. And nowe where as my father did lade you & put a greeuous yocke vpon you, I will make it heauier: My father hath chastised you with roddes, but I will correct you with scourges.

12. మూడవ దినమందు నాయొద్దకు రండని రాజు నిర్ణయము చేసియున్నట్లు యరొబామును జనులందరును మూడవ దినమున రెహబాము నొద్దకు వచ్చిరి.

12. And so Ieroboam and all the people came to Rehoboam the thirde day, as the king had appoynted, saying, Come to me againe the thirde day.

13. అప్పుడు రాజు పెద్దలు చెప్పిన ఆలోచనను నిర్లక్ష్యపెట్టి ¸యౌవనులు చెప్పిన ఆలోచనచొప్పున వారికి కఠినముగా ప్రత్యుత్తరమిచ్చి యిట్లు ఆజ్ఞాపించెను

13. And the king aunswered the people churlishly, and left the old mens counsel that they gaue him:

14. నా తండ్రి మీ కాడిని బరువుగా చేసెను గాని నేను మీ కాడిని మరి బరువుగా చేయుదును, నా తండ్రి చబుకులతో మిమ్మును శిక్షించెను గాని నేను కొరడాలతో మిమ్మును శిక్షించుదును.

14. And spake to them after the counsel of the young men, saying: My father made your yocke greeuous, and I will make it greeuouser: My father also chastised you with roddes, but I will chastise you with scourges.

15. జనులు చేసిన మనవిని రాజు ఈ ప్రకారము అంగీకరింపక పోయెను. షిలోనీయుడైన అహీయాద్వారా నెబాతు కుమారుడైన యరొబాముతో తాను పలికించిన మాట నెరవేర్చవలెనని యెహోవా ఈలాగున జరిగించెను.

15. And the king hearkened not vnto the people: for it was the ordinaunce of God, that he might perfourme his saying, whiche the Lord spake by Ahia the Silonite vnto Ieroboam the sonne of Nabat.

16. కాబట్టి ఇశ్రాయేలువారందరును రాజు తమ విన్నపమును వినలేదని తెలిసికొని రాజుకీలాగు ప్రత్యుత్తరమిచ్చిరిదావీదులో మాకు భాగమేది? యెష్షయి కుమారునియందు మాకు స్వాస్థ్యము లేదు; ఇశ్రాయేలువారలారా, మీమీ గుడారములకు పోవుడి; దావీదు సంతతివారలారా, మీ వారిని మీరే చూచుకొనుడి అని చెప్పి ఇశ్రాయేలువారు తమ గుడారములకు వెళ్లిపోయిరి.

16. And so when all Israel sawe that the king regarded them not, the people aunswered the king with these wordes, saying: What portion haue we in Dauid? we haue no inheritaunce in the sonne of Isai: To your tentes O Israel, nowe see to thyne owne house Dauid. And so Israel departed vnto their tentes.

17. అయితే యూదా పట్ణణములలోనున్న ఇశ్రాయేలువారిని రెహబాము ఏలెను.

17. Howebeit, ouer the children of Israel which dwelt in the cities of Iuda, dyd Rehoboam raigne still.

18. తరువాత రాజైన రెహబాము వెట్టిపని వారిమీద అధికారి యైన అదోరామును పంపగా ఇశ్రాయేలువారందరును రాళ్లతో అతని కొట్టినందున అతడు మరణమాయెను, కాబట్టి రాజైన రెహబాము యెరూషలేమునకు పారిపోవలెనని తన రథముమీద త్వరగా ఎక్కెను.

18. The king Rehoboam sent Aduram the receauer of the tribute, and all they of Israel stoned him to death: But king Rehoboam made speede to get him vp to his charet, and to flee to Hierusalem.

19. ఈ ప్రకారము ఇశ్రాయేలువారు నేటివరకు జరుగుచున్నట్లు దావీదు సంతతివారిమీద తిరుగుబాటు చేసిరి.

19. And they of Israel rebelled against the house of Dauid, vnto this day.

20. మరియు యరొబాము తిరిగి వచ్చెనని ఇశ్రాయేలు వారందరు విని, సమా జముగా కూడి, అతని పిలువనంపించి ఇశ్రాయేలువారందరి మీద రాజుగా అతనికి పట్టాభిషేకము చేసిరి; యూదా గోత్రీయులు తప్ప దావీదు సంతతివారిని వెంబడించినవా రెవరును లేకపోయిరి.

20. And when al Israel heard that Ieroboam was come againe, they sent, and called him vnto the multitude, and made him king ouer al Israel: and there was no tribe that folowed the house of Dauid, but Iuda onely.

21. రెహబాము యెరూషలేమునకు వచ్చిన తరువాత ఇశ్రా యేలువారితో యుద్ధముచేసి, రాజ్యము సొలొమోను కుమారుడైన రెహబాము అను తనకు మరల వచ్చునట్లు చేయుటకై యూదావారందరిలో నుండియు బెన్యామీను గోత్రీయులలోనుండియు యుద్ధ ప్రవీణులైన లక్షయెనుబది వేలమందిని పోగు చేసెను.

21. And when Rehoboam was come to Hierusalem, he gathered all the house of Iuda, with the tribe of Beniamin, an hundred and fourescore thousande of chosen men which were good warriours, to fight against the house of Israel, and to bring the kingdome againe to Rehoboam the sonne of Solomon.

22. అంతట దేవుని వాక్కు దైవజనుడగు షెమయాకు ప్రత్యక్షమై యీలాగు సెలవిచ్చెను

22. And the worde of God came vnto Semaia the man of God, saying:

23. నీవు సొలొమోను కుమారుడును యూదా రాజునైన రెహబాముతోను యూదావారందరితోను బెన్యామీనీయులందరితోను శేషించినవారందరితోను ఇట్లనుము

23. Speake vnto Rehoboam the sonne of Solomon king of Iuda, & vnto all the house of Iuda and Beniamin, & to the remnaunt of the people, saying:

24. యెహోవా సెలవిచ్చునదేమనగాజరిగినది నావలననే జరిగెను; మీరు ఇశ్రాయేలువారగు మీ సహో దరులతో యుద్ధము చేయుటకు వెళ్లక, అందరును మీ యిండ్లకు తిరిగి పోవుడి. కాబట్టి వారు యెహోవా మాటకు లోబడి దానినిబట్టి యుద్ధమునకు పోక నిలిచిరి.

24. Thus sayeth the Lorde, Ye shall not go vp, nor yet fight against your brethren the children of Israel: returne euery man to his house, for this thing is my doyng. They hearkened therfore to the worde of the Lorde, and returned to depart, according to the word of the Lord.

25. తరువాత యరొబాము ఎఫ్రాయిము మన్యమందు షెకెమను పట్టణము కట్టించి అచ్చట కాపురముండి అచ్చట నుండి బయలుదేరి పెనూయేలును కట్టించెను.

25. Then Ieroboam buylt Sichem in mount Ephraim, and dwelt therin: and went from thence, and buylt Penuel.

26. ఈ జనులు యెరూషలేమునందున్న యెహోవా మందిరమందు బలులు అర్పించుటకు ఎక్కి పోవుచుండినయెడల ఈ జనుల హృదయము యూదారాజైన రెహబాము అను తమ యజమానుని తట్టు తిరుగును; అప్పుడు వారు నన్ను చంపి యూదా రాజైన రెహబామునొద్ద మరల చేరుదురు; రాజ్యము మరల దావీదు సంతతివారిదగును అని

26. And Ieroboam thought in his heart: nowe shall the kingdome returne to the house of Dauid.

27. యరొ బాము తన హృదయమందు తలంచి

27. For if this people go vp and do sacrifice in the house of the Lorde at Hierusalem, then shall the heart of this people turne againe vnto their lorde Rehoboam king of Iuda, and so shal they kill me, and go againe to Rehoboam king of Iuda.

28. ఆలోచనచేసి రెండు బంగారపు దూడలు చేయించి, జనులను పిలిచియెరూషలేమునకు పోవుట మీకు బహు కష్టము;

28. Wherupon the king toke counsel, and made two calues of golde, and sayd vnto them, It is muche for you to go vp to Hierusalem: Behold O Israel, these are thy goddes, which brought thee out of the lande of Egypt.

29. ఇశ్రా యేలువారలారా, ఐగుప్తు దేశములోనుండి మిమ్మును రప్పిం చిన మీ దేవుడు ఇవే అని చెప్పి, ఒకటి బేతేలునందును, ఒకటి దానునందును ఉంచెను.

29. And he set the one in Bethel, and the other set he in Dan.

30. దానువరకు ఈ రెంటిలో ఒకదానిని జనులు పూజించుటవలన రాజు చేసిన కార్యము పాపమునకు కారణమాయెను.

30. And this thing turned to sinne: for the people went (because of the one) as farre as Dan.

31. మరియు అతడు ఉన్నత స్థలములను కట్టించి మందిరముగా ఏర్పరచి, లేవీయులు కాని సాధారణమైనవారిలో కొందరిని యాజకులుగా నియ మించెను.

31. And he made an house of hill aulters, and made priestes of the lowest of the people, which were not of the sonnes of Leui.

32. మరియు యరొబాము యూదాదేశమందు జరుగు ఉత్సవమువంటి ఉత్సవమును ఎనిమిదవ మాసము పదునైదవ దినమందు జరుప నిర్ణయించి, బలిపీఠముమీద బలులు అర్పించుచు వచ్చెను. ఈ ప్రకారము బేతేలునందును తాను చేయించిన దూడలకు బలులు అర్పించు చుండెను. మరియు తాను చేయించిన యున్నతమైన స్థలమునకు యాజకులను బేతేలునందుంచెను.

32. And Ieroboam made a feast the fyfteene day of the eyght moneth, lyke vnto the feast that is in Iuda, and offered on the aulter: And so did he in Bethel, to offer vnto the calues that he had made: And he put in Bethel the priestes of the hill aulters which he had made.

33. ఈ ప్రకా రము అతడు యోచించినదానినిబట్టి యెనిమిదవ మాసము పదునైదవ దినమందు బేతేలులో తాను చేయించిన బలి పీఠముమీద బలులు అర్పించుచు వచ్చెను; మరియు ఇశ్రా యేలువారికి ఒక ఉత్సవమును నిర్ణయించి ధూపము వేయు టకై తానే బలిపీఠము ఎక్కెను.

33. And he went vp to the aulter to burne incense whiche he had made in Bethel the fyfteene day of the eyght moneth, euen in the moneth whiche he had imagined of his owne hearte: and made a solemne feast vnto the children of Israel, and offered vpon the aulter, and burnt incense.
