1. తరువాత సొలొమోను ఐగుప్తురాజైన ఫరో కుమార్తెను పెండ్లిచేసికొని అతనికి అల్లుడాయెను. తన నగరును యెహోవా మందిరమును యెరూషలేము చుట్టు ప్రాకార మును కట్టించుట ముగించిన తరువాత ఫరోకుమార్తెను దావీదు పురమునకు రప్పించెను.

1. Solomon made a peace treaty with Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, by marrying his daughter. Solomon brought her to the City of David. This was when Solomon was still building his palace, the Temple of the Lord, and the wall around Jerusalem.

2. ఆ దినముల వరకు యెహోవా నామమున కట్టింపబడిన మందిరము లేకపోగా జనులు ఉన్నత స్థలములయందు మాత్రము బలులను అర్పించుచు వచ్చిరి.

2. The Temple had not yet been finished, so people were still making animal sacrifices on altars at the high places.

3. తన తండ్రియైన దావీదు నియమించిన కట్టడలను అనుసరించుచు సొలొమోను యెహోవాయందు ప్రేమయుంచెను గాని యున్నత స్థలములయందు అతడు బలులను మాత్రము అర్పించుచు ధూపము వేయుచు నుండెను.

3. Solomon showed that he loved the Lord by obeying everything his father David told him to do, except that Solomon continued to go to the high places to offer sacrifices and to burn incense.

4. గిబియోను ముఖ్యమైన ఉన్నతస్థలమై యుండెను గనుక బలుల నర్పించుటకై రాజు అక్కడికి పోయి ఆ బలిపీఠముమీద వెయ్యి దహనబలులను అర్పించెను.

4. King Solomon went to Gibeon to offer a sacrifice because that was the most important high place. He offered a thousand burnt offerings on that altar.

5. గిబియోనులో యెహోవా రాత్రివేళ స్వప్నమందు సొలొ మోనునకు ప్రత్యక్షమైనేను నీకు దేని నిచ్చుట నీకిష్టమోదాని నడుగుమని దేవుడు అతనితో సెలవియ్యగా

5. While Solomon was at Gibeon, the Lord came to him at night in a dream. God said, 'Solomon, ask me what you want me to give you.'

6. సొలొమోను ఈలాగు మనవి చేసెనునీ దాసుడును నా తండ్రియునైన దావీదు నీ దృష్టికి అనుకూలముగా సత్య మును నీతిని అనుసరించి యథార్థమైన మనసు గలవాడై ప్రవర్తించెను గనుక నీవు అతనియెడల పరిపూర్ణ కటాక్షమగు పరచి, యీ దినముననున్నట్లుగా అతని సింహా సనముమీద అతని కుమారుని కూర్చుండబెట్టి అతనియందుమహాకృపను చూపియున్నావు.

6. Solomon answered, 'You were very kind and loyal to my father David. He was your servant and followed you. He was good and lived right. And you showed the greatest kindness to him when you allowed his son to rule on his throne after him.

7. నా దేవా యెహోవా, నీవు నా తండ్రియైన దావీదునకు బదులుగా నీ దాసుడనైన నన్ను రాజుగా నియమించి యున్నావు; అయితే నేను బాలుడను, కార్యములు జరుపుటకు నాకు బుద్ధి చాలదు;

7. Lord my God, you have made me the king in my father's place, but I am like a small child. I don't have the wisdom I need to do what I must do.

8. నీ దాసుడనైన నేను నీవు కోరుకొనిన జనుల మధ్య ఉన్నాను; వారు విస్తరించియున్నందున వారిని లెక్క పెట్టుటయు వారి విశాలదేశమును తనకీ చేయుటయు అసాధ్యము.

8. I am your servant here among your chosen people. There are so many that they cannot be counted.

9. ఇంత గొప్పదైన నీ జనమునకు న్యాయము తీర్చగలవాడు ఎవ్వడు? కాబట్టి నేను మంచి చెడ్డలు వివేచించి నీ జనులకు న్యాయము తీర్చునట్లు నీ దాసుడనైన నాకు వివేకముగల హృదయము దయ చేయుము.

9. So I ask you to give me the wisdom to rule and judge them well and to help me know the difference between right and wrong. Without such great wisdom, it would be impossible to rule this great nation.'

10. సొలొమోను చేసిన యీ మనవి ప్రభువునకు అనుకూలమాయెను గనుక

10. The Lord was happy that Solomon asked for wisdom.

11. దేవుడు అతనికి ఈలాగు సెల విచ్చెనుదీర్ఘాయువునైనను ఐశ్వర్యమునైనను నీ శత్రువుల ప్రాణమునైనను అడుగక, న్యాయములను గ్రహించు టకు వివేకము అనుగ్రహించుమని నీవు అడిగితివి.

11. So God said to him, 'You did not ask for long life and riches for yourself. You did not ask for the death of your enemies. You asked for the wisdom to listen and make the right decisions.

12. నీవు ఈలాగున అడిగినందున నీ మనవి ఆలకించుచున్నాను; బుద్ధి వివేకములు గల హృదయము నీకిచ్చుచున్నాను; పూర్వికులలో నీవంటివాడు ఒకడును లేడు, ఇకమీదట నీవంటివాడొకడును ఉండడు.

12. So I will give you what you asked for. I will make you wise and intelligent. I will make you wiser than anyone who ever lived or ever will live.

13. మరియు నీవు ఐశ్వర్య మును ఘనతను ఇమ్మని అడుగక పోయినను నేను వాటిని కూడ నీకిచ్చుచున్నాను; అందువలన నీ దినములన్నిటను రాజులలో నీవంటివాడొకడైనను నుండడు.

13. And I will also give you what you did not ask for. You will have riches and honor all your life. There will be no other king in the world as great as you.

14. మరియు నీ తండ్రియైన దావీదు నా మార్గములలో నడచి నా కట్టడలను నేను నియమించిన ధర్మమంతటిని గైకొనినట్లు నీవు నడచి వాటిని గైకొనిన యెడల నిన్ను దీర్ఘాయుష్మంతునిగా చేసెదను అనెను.

14. And I will give you a long life if you follow me and obey my laws and commands as your father David did.'

15. అంతలో సొలొమోను మేలుకొని అది స్వప్నమని తెలిసికొనెను. పిమ్మట అతడు యెరూషలేమునకు వచ్చి యెహోవా నిబంధనగల మందసము ఎదుట నిలువబడి దహనబలులను సమాధానబలులను అర్పించి తన సేవకులందరికిని విందు చేయించెను.

15. Solomon woke up and knew that God had spoken to him in the dream. Then Solomon went to Jerusalem and stood before the Box of the Lord's Agreement. He offered a burnt offering and fellowship offerings to the Lord and then gave a party for all of his officials.

16. తరువాత వేశ్యలైన యిద్దరు స్త్రీలు రాజునొద్దకు వచ్చి అతని ముందర నిలిచిరి.

16. One day two prostitutes came to Solomon and stood before the king.

17. వారిలో ఒకతె యిట్లు మనవి చేసెనునా యేలినవాడా చిత్తగించుము, నేనును ఈ స్త్రీయును ఒక యింటిలో నివసించుచున్నాము; దానితో కూడ ఇంటిలో ఉండి నేనొక పిల్లను కంటిని.

17. One of the women said, 'Sir, this woman and I live in the same house. We were both pregnant and ready to give birth to our babies. I had my baby while she was there with me.

18. నేను కనిన మూడవ దినమున ఇదియు పిల్లను కనెను; మేమిద్దర మును కూడనున్నాము, మేమిద్దరము తప్ప ఇంటిలో మరి యెవరును లేరు.

18. Three days later she also gave birth to her baby. There was no one else in the house with us, just the two of us.

19. అయితే రాత్రియందు ఇది పడకలో తన పిల్లమీద పడగా అది చచ్చెను.

19. One night while this woman was asleep with her baby, the baby died.

20. కాబట్టి మధ్య రాత్రి యిది లేచి నీ దాసినైన నేను నిద్రించుచుండగా వచ్చి, నా ప్రక్కలోనుండి నా బిడ్డను తీసికొని తన కౌగిటిలో పెట్టుకొని, చచ్చిన తన పిల్లను నా కౌగిటిలో ఉంచెను.

20. That night while I was asleep, she took my son from my bed and carried him to her bed. Then she put the dead baby in my bed.

21. ఉదయమున నేను లేచి నా పిల్లకు పాలియ్య చూడగా అది చచ్చినదాయెను; తరువాత ఉదయమున నేను పిల్లను నిదానించి చూచినప్పుడు వాడు నా కడుపున పుట్టినవాడు కాడని నేను తెలిసికొంటిని.

21. In the morning I woke up and was about to feed the baby when I saw he was dead. When I looked at him more closely, I saw that he was not my baby.'

22. అంతలో రెండవ స్త్రీ అది కాదు;బ్రదికియున్నది నా బిడ్డ చచ్చినది దాని బిడ్డ అని చెప్పగా ఆమెకాదు, చచ్చినదే నీ బిడ్డ బ్రతికియున్నది నా బిడ్డ అనెను. ఈ ప్రకారముగా వారు రాజుసముఖమున మనవిచేయగా

22. But the other woman said, 'No! The dead baby is yours, and the one still alive is mine!' But the first woman said, 'No, you are wrong! The dead baby is yours! The one that is still alive is mine.' So the two women argued in front of the king.

23. రాజు బ్రదికియున్నది నా బిడ్డ చచ్చినది నీ బిడ్డ అని యొక తెయు, రెండవది ఆలాగు కాదు చచ్చినది నీ బిడ్డ బ్రదికియున్నది నా బిడ్డ అని చెప్పుచున్నది;

23. Then King Solomon said, 'Each of you says that the living baby is your own and that the dead baby belongs to the other woman.'

24. గనుక కత్తి తెమ్మని ఆజ్ఞ ఇచ్చెను. వారు ఒక కత్తి రాజసన్నిధికి తేగా

24. Then King Solomon sent his servant to get a sword.

25. రాజు రెండు భాగములుగా బ్రదికియుండు బిడ్డను చేసి సగము దీనికిని సగము దానికిని చెరిసగము ఇయ్యవలసినదని ఆజ్ఞ ఇచ్చెను.

25. He told the servant, 'Cut the living baby in two and give one half of the baby to each woman.'

26. అంతట బ్రదికియున్న బిడ్డయొక్క తల్లి తన బిడ్డ విషయమై పేగులు తరుగుకొని పోయినదై, రాజునొద్దనా యేలిన వాడా, బిడ్డను ఎంతమాత్రము చంపక దానికే యిప్పించుమని మనవిచేయగా, ఆ రెండవ స్త్రీ అది నాదైనను దానిదైనను కాకుండ చెరిసగము చేయుమనెను.

26. The second woman said, 'Yes, cut him in two. Then neither of us will have him.' But the first woman, the real mother, loved her son and said to the king, 'Please, sir, don't kill the baby! Give him to her.'

27. అందుకు రాజుబ్రదికియున్న బిడ్డను ఎంతమాత్రము చంపక మొదటిదాని కియ్యుడి, దాని తల్లి అదే అని తీర్పు తీర్చెను.

27. Then King Solomon said, 'Stop, don't kill the baby. Give him to this woman. She is the real mother.'

28. అంతట ఇశ్రాయేలీయులందరును రాజు తీర్చిన తీర్పునుగూర్చి విని న్యాయము విచారించుటయందు రాజు దైవజ్ఞానము నొందినవాడని గ్రహించి అతనికి భయపడిరి.

28. The people of Israel respected the king when they heard about this decision. They saw he had the wisdom of God to make the right decisions.
