1. తరువాత సొలొమోను ఐగుప్తురాజైన ఫరో కుమార్తెను పెండ్లిచేసికొని అతనికి అల్లుడాయెను. తన నగరును యెహోవా మందిరమును యెరూషలేము చుట్టు ప్రాకార మును కట్టించుట ముగించిన తరువాత ఫరోకుమార్తెను దావీదు పురమునకు రప్పించెను.

1. Solomon arranged a marriage contract with Pharaoh, king of Egypt. He married Pharaoh's daughter and brought her to the City of David until he had completed building his royal palace and GOD's Temple and the wall around Jerusalem.

2. ఆ దినముల వరకు యెహోవా నామమున కట్టింపబడిన మందిరము లేకపోగా జనులు ఉన్నత స్థలములయందు మాత్రము బలులను అర్పించుచు వచ్చిరి.

2. Meanwhile, the people were worshiping at local shrines because at that time no temple had yet been built to the Name of GOD.

3. తన తండ్రియైన దావీదు నియమించిన కట్టడలను అనుసరించుచు సొలొమోను యెహోవాయందు ప్రేమయుంచెను గాని యున్నత స్థలములయందు అతడు బలులను మాత్రము అర్పించుచు ధూపము వేయుచు నుండెను.

3. Solomon loved GOD and continued to live in the God-honoring ways of David his father, except that he also worshiped at the local shrines, offering sacrifices and burning incense.

4. గిబియోను ముఖ్యమైన ఉన్నతస్థలమై యుండెను గనుక బలుల నర్పించుటకై రాజు అక్కడికి పోయి ఆ బలిపీఠముమీద వెయ్యి దహనబలులను అర్పించెను.

4. The king went to Gibeon, the most prestigious of the local shrines, to worship. He sacrificed a thousand Whole-Burnt-Offerings on that altar.

5. గిబియోనులో యెహోవా రాత్రివేళ స్వప్నమందు సొలొ మోనునకు ప్రత్యక్షమైనేను నీకు దేని నిచ్చుట నీకిష్టమోదాని నడుగుమని దేవుడు అతనితో సెలవియ్యగా

5. That night, there in Gibeon, GOD appeared to Solomon in a dream: God said, 'What can I give you? Ask.'

6. సొలొమోను ఈలాగు మనవి చేసెనునీ దాసుడును నా తండ్రియునైన దావీదు నీ దృష్టికి అనుకూలముగా సత్య మును నీతిని అనుసరించి యథార్థమైన మనసు గలవాడై ప్రవర్తించెను గనుక నీవు అతనియెడల పరిపూర్ణ కటాక్షమగు పరచి, యీ దినముననున్నట్లుగా అతని సింహా సనముమీద అతని కుమారుని కూర్చుండబెట్టి అతనియందుమహాకృపను చూపియున్నావు.

6. Solomon said, 'You were extravagantly generous in love with David my father, and he lived faithfully in your presence, his relationships were just and his heart right. And you have persisted in this great and generous love by giving him--and this very day!--a son to sit on his throne.

7. నా దేవా యెహోవా, నీవు నా తండ్రియైన దావీదునకు బదులుగా నీ దాసుడనైన నన్ను రాజుగా నియమించి యున్నావు; అయితే నేను బాలుడను, కార్యములు జరుపుటకు నాకు బుద్ధి చాలదు;

7. 'And now here I am: GOD, my God, you have made me, your servant, ruler of the kingdom in place of David my father. I'm too young for this, a mere child! I don't know the ropes, hardly know the 'ins' and 'outs' of this job.

8. నీ దాసుడనైన నేను నీవు కోరుకొనిన జనుల మధ్య ఉన్నాను; వారు విస్తరించియున్నందున వారిని లెక్క పెట్టుటయు వారి విశాలదేశమును తనకీ చేయుటయు అసాధ్యము.

8. And here I am, set down in the middle of the people you've chosen, a great people--far too many to ever count.

9. ఇంత గొప్పదైన నీ జనమునకు న్యాయము తీర్చగలవాడు ఎవ్వడు? కాబట్టి నేను మంచి చెడ్డలు వివేచించి నీ జనులకు న్యాయము తీర్చునట్లు నీ దాసుడనైన నాకు వివేకముగల హృదయము దయ చేయుము.

9. 'Here's what I want: Give me a God-listening heart so I can lead your people well, discerning the difference between good and evil. For who on their own is capable of leading your glorious people?'

10. సొలొమోను చేసిన యీ మనవి ప్రభువునకు అనుకూలమాయెను గనుక

10. God, the Master, was delighted with Solomon's response.

11. దేవుడు అతనికి ఈలాగు సెల విచ్చెనుదీర్ఘాయువునైనను ఐశ్వర్యమునైనను నీ శత్రువుల ప్రాణమునైనను అడుగక, న్యాయములను గ్రహించు టకు వివేకము అనుగ్రహించుమని నీవు అడిగితివి.

11. And God said to him, 'Because you have asked for this and haven't grasped after a long life, or riches, or the doom of your enemies, but you have asked for the ability to lead and govern well,

12. నీవు ఈలాగున అడిగినందున నీ మనవి ఆలకించుచున్నాను; బుద్ధి వివేకములు గల హృదయము నీకిచ్చుచున్నాను; పూర్వికులలో నీవంటివాడు ఒకడును లేడు, ఇకమీదట నీవంటివాడొకడును ఉండడు.

12. I'll give you what you've asked for--I'm giving you a wise and mature heart. There's never been one like you before; and there'll be no one after.

13. మరియు నీవు ఐశ్వర్య మును ఘనతను ఇమ్మని అడుగక పోయినను నేను వాటిని కూడ నీకిచ్చుచున్నాను; అందువలన నీ దినములన్నిటను రాజులలో నీవంటివాడొకడైనను నుండడు.

13. As a bonus, I'm giving you both the wealth and glory you didn't ask for--there's not a king anywhere who will come up to your mark.

14. మరియు నీ తండ్రియైన దావీదు నా మార్గములలో నడచి నా కట్టడలను నేను నియమించిన ధర్మమంతటిని గైకొనినట్లు నీవు నడచి వాటిని గైకొనిన యెడల నిన్ను దీర్ఘాయుష్మంతునిగా చేసెదను అనెను.

14. And if you stay on course, keeping your eye on the life-map and the God-signs as your father David did, I'll also give you a long life.'

15. అంతలో సొలొమోను మేలుకొని అది స్వప్నమని తెలిసికొనెను. పిమ్మట అతడు యెరూషలేమునకు వచ్చి యెహోవా నిబంధనగల మందసము ఎదుట నిలువబడి దహనబలులను సమాధానబలులను అర్పించి తన సేవకులందరికిని విందు చేయించెను.

15. Solomon woke up--what a dream! He returned to Jerusalem, took his place before the Chest of the Covenant of God, and worshiped by sacrificing Whole-Burnt-Offerings and Peace-Offerings. Then he laid out a banquet for everyone in his service.

16. తరువాత వేశ్యలైన యిద్దరు స్త్రీలు రాజునొద్దకు వచ్చి అతని ముందర నిలిచిరి.

16. The very next thing, two prostitutes showed up before the king.

17. వారిలో ఒకతె యిట్లు మనవి చేసెనునా యేలినవాడా చిత్తగించుము, నేనును ఈ స్త్రీయును ఒక యింటిలో నివసించుచున్నాము; దానితో కూడ ఇంటిలో ఉండి నేనొక పిల్లను కంటిని.

17. The one woman said, 'My master, this woman and I live in the same house. While we were living together, I had a baby.

18. నేను కనిన మూడవ దినమున ఇదియు పిల్లను కనెను; మేమిద్దర మును కూడనున్నాము, మేమిద్దరము తప్ప ఇంటిలో మరి యెవరును లేరు.

18. Three days after I gave birth, this woman also had a baby. We were alone--there wasn't anyone else in the house except for the two of us.

19. అయితే రాత్రియందు ఇది పడకలో తన పిల్లమీద పడగా అది చచ్చెను.

19. The infant son of this woman died one night when she rolled over on him in her sleep.

20. కాబట్టి మధ్య రాత్రి యిది లేచి నీ దాసినైన నేను నిద్రించుచుండగా వచ్చి, నా ప్రక్కలోనుండి నా బిడ్డను తీసికొని తన కౌగిటిలో పెట్టుకొని, చచ్చిన తన పిల్లను నా కౌగిటిలో ఉంచెను.

20. She got up in the middle of the night and took my son--I was sound asleep, mind you!--and put him at her breast and put her dead son at my breast.

21. ఉదయమున నేను లేచి నా పిల్లకు పాలియ్య చూడగా అది చచ్చినదాయెను; తరువాత ఉదయమున నేను పిల్లను నిదానించి చూచినప్పుడు వాడు నా కడుపున పుట్టినవాడు కాడని నేను తెలిసికొంటిని.

21. When I got up in the morning to nurse my son, here was this dead baby! But when I looked at him in the morning light, I saw immediately that he wasn't my baby.'

22. అంతలో రెండవ స్త్రీ అది కాదు;బ్రదికియున్నది నా బిడ్డ చచ్చినది దాని బిడ్డ అని చెప్పగా ఆమెకాదు, చచ్చినదే నీ బిడ్డ బ్రతికియున్నది నా బిడ్డ అనెను. ఈ ప్రకారముగా వారు రాజుసముఖమున మనవిచేయగా

22. 'Not so!' said the other woman. 'The living one's mine; the dead one's yours.' The first woman countered, 'No! Your son's the dead one; mine's the living one.' They went back and forth this way in front of the king.

23. రాజు బ్రదికియున్నది నా బిడ్డ చచ్చినది నీ బిడ్డ అని యొక తెయు, రెండవది ఆలాగు కాదు చచ్చినది నీ బిడ్డ బ్రదికియున్నది నా బిడ్డ అని చెప్పుచున్నది;

23. The king said, 'What are we to do? This woman says, 'The living son is mine and the dead one is yours,' and this woman says, 'No, the dead one's yours and the living one's mine.''

24. గనుక కత్తి తెమ్మని ఆజ్ఞ ఇచ్చెను. వారు ఒక కత్తి రాజసన్నిధికి తేగా

24. After a moment the king said, 'Bring me a sword.' They brought the sword to the king.

25. రాజు రెండు భాగములుగా బ్రదికియుండు బిడ్డను చేసి సగము దీనికిని సగము దానికిని చెరిసగము ఇయ్యవలసినదని ఆజ్ఞ ఇచ్చెను.

25. Then he said, 'Cut the living baby in two--give half to one and half to the other.'

26. అంతట బ్రదికియున్న బిడ్డయొక్క తల్లి తన బిడ్డ విషయమై పేగులు తరుగుకొని పోయినదై, రాజునొద్దనా యేలిన వాడా, బిడ్డను ఎంతమాత్రము చంపక దానికే యిప్పించుమని మనవిచేయగా, ఆ రెండవ స్త్రీ అది నాదైనను దానిదైనను కాకుండ చెరిసగము చేయుమనెను.

26. The real mother of the living baby was overcome with emotion for her son and said, 'Oh no, master! Give her the whole baby alive; don't kill him!' But the other one said, 'If I can't have him, you can't have him--cut away!'

27. అందుకు రాజుబ్రదికియున్న బిడ్డను ఎంతమాత్రము చంపక మొదటిదాని కియ్యుడి, దాని తల్లి అదే అని తీర్పు తీర్చెను.

27. The king gave his decision: 'Give the living baby to the first woman. Nobody is going to kill this baby. She is the real mother.'

28. అంతట ఇశ్రాయేలీయులందరును రాజు తీర్చిన తీర్పునుగూర్చి విని న్యాయము విచారించుటయందు రాజు దైవజ్ఞానము నొందినవాడని గ్రహించి అతనికి భయపడిరి.

28. The word got around--everyone in Israel heard of the king's judgment. They were all in awe of the king, realizing that it was God's wisdom that enabled him to judge truly.
