1. యూదారాజైన అహజ్యా కుమారుడైన యోవాషు ఏలుబడిలో ఇరువది మూడవ సంవత్సరమందు యెహూ కుమారుడైన యెహోయాహాజు షోమ్రోనులో ఇశ్రాయేలును ఏలనారంభించి పదునైదు సంవత్సరములు ఏలెను.

1. In the twenty-third year of the reign of Joash son of Ahaziah as king of Judah, Jehoahaz son of Jehu became king of Israel, and he ruled in Samaria for seventeen years.

2. ఇతడు ఇశ్రాయేలువారు పాపముచేయుటకు కారకుడగు నెబాతు కుమారుడైన యరొబాము పాపములను విడువక అనుసరించుచు యెహోవా దృష్టికి చెడుతనము జరిగించెను.

2. Like King Jeroboam before him, he sinned against the LORD and led Israel into sin; he never gave up his evil ways.

3. కాబట్టి యెహోవా కోపము ఇశ్రాయేలువారిమీద రగులుకొనగా ఆయన సిరియా రాజైన హజాయేలు దినములన్నిటను హజాయేలు కుమారు డైన బెన్హదదు దినములన్నిటను ఇశ్రాయేలువారిని వారి కప్పగించెను.

3. So the LORD was angry with Israel, and he allowed King Hazael of Syria and his son Benhadad to defeat Israel time after time.

4. అయితే యెహోయాహాజు యెహోవాను వేడుకొనగా యెహోవా సిరియా రాజుచేత బాధనొందిన ఇశ్రాయేలువారిని కనికరించి అతని మనవి నంగీకరించెను.

4. Then Jehoahaz prayed to the LORD, and the LORD, seeing how harshly the king of Syria was oppressing the Israelites, answered his prayer.

5. కావున యెహోవా ఇశ్రాయేలువారికి ఒక రక్షకుని అను గ్రహింపగా అతనిచేత ఇశ్రాయేలువారు సిరియనుల వశములోనుండి తప్పించుకొని మునుపటివలె స్వస్థాన ములలో కాపురముండిరి.

5. The LORD sent Israel a leader, who freed them from the Syrians, and so the Israelites lived in peace, as before.

6. అయినను ఇశ్రాయేలువారు పాపము చేయుటకు కారకుడగు యరొబాము కుటుంబికులు చేసిన పాపములను వారు విడువక వాటిననుసరించుచు వచ్చిరి. మరియు ఆ దేవతాస్తంభమును షోమ్రోనులో నిలిచియుండెను.

6. But they still did not give up the sins into which King Jeroboam had led Israel, but kept on committing them; and the image of the goddess Asherah remained in Samaria.

7. రౌతులలో ఏబదిమందియు రథములలో పదియు కాల్బలములో పదివేలమందియు మాత్రమే యెహోయాహాజు దగ్గర ఉండిరి; మిగిలినవారిని సిరియా రాజు దుళ్లకొట్టిన ధూళివలె నాశనముచేసి యుండెను.

7. Jehoahaz had no armed forces left except fifty cavalry troops, ten chariots, and ten thousand foot soldiers, because the king of Syria had destroyed the rest, trampling them down like dust.

8. యెహోయాహాజు చేసిన యితర కార్యములనుగూర్చియు, అతడు చేసినదాని నంతటినిగూర్చియు, అతని పరాక్రమ మునుగూర్చియు ఇశ్రాయేలురాజుల వృత్తాంతముల గ్రంథ మందు వ్రాయబడియున్నది.

8. Everything else that Jehoahaz did and all his brave deeds are recorded in The History of the Kings of Israel.

9. యెహోయాహాజు తన పితరులతోకూడ నిద్రించి షోమ్రోనులో పాతిపెట్టబడెను; అతని కుమారుడైన యెహోయాషు అతనికి మారుగా రాజాయెను.

9. He died and was buried in Samaria, and his son Jehoash succeeded him as king.

10. యూదారాజైన యోవాషు ఏలుబడిలో ముప్పది యేడవ సంవత్సరమందు యెహోయాహాజు కుమారుడైన యెహోయాషు షోమ్రోనులో ఇశ్రాయేలును ఏలనారంభించి పదునారు సంవత్సరములు ఏలెను.

10. In the thirty-seventh year of the reign of King Joash of Judah, Jehoash son of Jehoahaz became king of Israel, and he ruled in Samaria for sixteen years.

11. ఇతడును ఇశ్రాయేలువారు పాపము చేయుటకు కారకుడగు నెబాతు కుమారుడైన యరొబాము చేసిన పాపములను విడువక వాటి ననుసరించుచు యెహోవా దృష్టికి చెడుతనము జరిగించెను.

11. He too sinned against the LORD and followed the evil example of King Jeroboam, who had led Israel into sin.

12. యెహోయాషు చేసిన యితర కార్యములను గూర్చియు, అతడు చేసినదాని అంతటినిగూర్చియు, యూదారాజైన అమజ్యాతో యుద్ధము చేయునప్పుడు అతడు కనుపరచిన పరాక్రమమునుగూర్చియు ఇశ్రాయేలు రాజుల వృత్తాంతముల గ్రంథమందు వ్రాయబడి యున్నది.

12. Everything else that Jehoash did, including his bravery in the war against King Amaziah of Judah, is recorded in The History of the Kings of Israel.

13. యెహోయాషు తన పితరులతో కూడ నిద్రిం చిన తరువాత యరొబాము అతని సింహాసనముమీద ఆసీనుడాయెను; యెహోయాషు షోమ్రోనులో ఇశ్రా యేలురాజుల సమాధియందు పాతిపెట్టబడెను.

13. Jehoash died and was buried in the royal tombs in Samaria, and his son Jeroboam II succeeded him as king.

14. అంతట ఎలీషా మరణకరమైన రోగముచేత పీడితుడై యుండగా ఇశ్రాయేలురాజైన యెహోయాషు అతని యొద్దకు వచ్చి అతని చూచి కన్నీరు విడుచుచునా తండ్రీ నా తండ్రీ, ఇశ్రాయేలువారికి రథమును రౌతులును నీవే అని యేడ్చెను.

14. The prophet Elisha was sick with a fatal disease, and as he lay dying, King Jehoash of Israel went to visit him. 'My father, my father!' he exclaimed as he wept. 'You have been the mighty defender of Israel!'

15. అందుకు ఎలీషానీవు వింటిని బాణములను తీసికొమ్మని అతనితో చెప్పగా అతడు వింటిని బాణములను తీసికొనెను.

15. Get a bow and some arrows,' Elisha ordered him. Jehoash got them,

16. నీ చెయ్యి వింటిమీద ఉంచు మని అతడు ఇశ్రాయేలురాజుతో చెప్పగా అతడు తన చెయ్యి వింటిమీద ఉంచినప్పుడు ఎలీషా తన చేతులను రాజు చేతులమీద వేసి

16. and Elisha told him to get ready to shoot. The king did so, and Elisha placed his hands on the king's hands.

17. Then, following the prophet's instructions, the king opened the window that faced toward Syria. 'Shoot the arrow!' Elisha ordered. As soon as the king shot the arrow, the prophet exclaimed, 'You are the LORD's arrow, with which he will win victory over Syria. You will fight the Syrians in Aphek until you defeat them.'

18. బాణములను పట్టుకొమ్మనగా అతడు పట్టు కొనెను. అంతట అతడు ఇశ్రాయేలురాజుతోనేలను కొట్టుమనినప్పుడు అతడు ముమ్మారు కొట్టి మానెను.

18. Then Elisha told the king to take the other arrows and strike the ground with them. The king struck the ground three times, and then stopped.

19. అందు నిమిత్తము దైవజనుడు అతనిమీద కోపగించినీవు అయిదు మారులైన ఆరుమారులైన కొట్టిన యెడల సిరియనులు నాశనమగువరకు నీవు వారిని హతము చేసియుందువు; అయితే ఇప్పుడు ముమ్మారు మాత్రమే సిరియనులను ఓడించెదవని చెప్పెను.

19. This made Elisha angry, and he said to the king, 'You should have struck five or six times, and then you would have won complete victory over the Syrians; but now you will defeat them only three times.'

20. తరువాత ఎలీషా మృతిపొందగా వారు అతనిని సమా ధిలో ఉంచిరి. ఒక సంవత్సరము గడచిన తరువాత మోయాబీయుల సైన్యము దేశముమీదికి వచ్చినప్పుడు

20. Elisha died and was buried. Every year bands of Moabites used to invade the land of Israel.

21. కొందరు ఒక శవమును పాతిపెట్టుచు సైన్యమునకు భయపడి ఆ శవమును ఎలీషాయొక్క సమాధిలో ఉంచగా దింపిన ఆ శవము ఎలీషా శల్యములకు తగిలినప్పుడు అది తిరిగి బ్రతికి కాళ్లు మోపి నిలిచెను.

21. One time during a funeral, one of those bands was seen, and the people threw the corpse into Elisha's tomb and ran off. As soon as the body came into contact with Elisha's bones, the man came back to life and stood up.

22. యెహోయాహాజు దినములన్నియు సిరియారాజైన హజాయేలు ఇశ్రాయేలువారిని బాధపెట్టెను.

22. King Hazael of Syria oppressed the Israelites during all of Jehoahaz' reign,

23. గాని యెహోవా వారిమీద జాలిపడి వారియందు దయయుంచి, అబ్రాహాము ఇస్సాకు యాకోబులతో తాను చేసియున్ననిబంధననుబట్టి వారియందు లక్ష్యము నిలిపి, వారిని నాశము చేయనొల్లక యిప్పటికిని తన సముఖములోనుండి వారిని వెళ్లగొట్టక యుండెను.

23. but the LORD was kind and merciful to them. He would not let them be destroyed, but helped them because of his covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. He has never forgotten his people.

24. సిరియారాజైన హజాయేలు మరణము కాగా అతని కుమారుడైన బెన్హదదు అతనికి మారుగా రాజాయెను.

24. At the death of King Hazael of Syria his son Benhadad became king.

25. అంతట యెహోయాహాజు కుమారుడైన యెహోయాషు హజాయేలు కుమారుడైన బెన్హదదు తన తండ్రియైన యెహోయాహాజు చేతిలోనుండి యుద్ధమందు పట్టుకొనిన పట్టణములను మరల తీసి కొనెను. యెహోయాషు అతని ముమ్మారు జయించి ఇశ్రాయేలు పట్టణములను మరల వశపరచుకొనెను.

25. Then King Jehoash of Israel defeated Benhadad three times and recaptured the cities that had been taken by Benhadad during the reign of Jehoahaz, the father of Jehoash.
