1. ఇశ్రాయేలురాజును ఏలా కుమారుడునైన హోషేయ యేలుబడిలో మూడవ సంవత్సరమందు యూదారాజును ఆహాజు కుమారుడునైన హిజ్కియా యేలనారంభించెను.

1. Hezekiah began to rule as king over Judah. It was in the third year that Hoshea was king of Israel. He was the son of Elah. Hezekiah was the son of Ahaz.

2. అతడు ఏలనారంభించినప్పుడు ఇరువది యయిదేండ్లవాడై యెరూషలేమునందు ఇరువది తొమ్మిది సంవత్సరములు ఏలెను. అతని తల్లి జెకర్యా కుమార్తె; ఆమెకు అబీ అని పేరు.

2. Hezekiah was 25 years old when he became king. He ruled in Jerusalem for 29 years. His mother's name was Abijah. She was the daughter of Zechariah.

3. Hezekiah did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, just as King David had done.

4. Hezekiah removed the high places. He smashed the sacred stones. He cut down the poles that were used to worship the goddess Asherah. He broke into pieces the bronze snake Moses had made. Up to that time the people of Israel had been burning incense to it. They called it Nehushtan.

5. Hezekiah trusted in the Lord, the God of Israel. There was no one like him among all of the kings of Judah. There was no king like him either before him or after him.

6. Hezekiah remained true to the Lord. He didn't stop following him. He obeyed the commands the Lord had given Moses.

7. The Lord was with Hezekiah. He was successful in everything he did. He refused to remain under the control of the king of Assyria. He didn't serve him.

8. He won the war against the Philistines. He won battles at their lookout towers. He won battles at their cities that had high walls around them. He won battles against the Philistines all the way to Gaza and its territory.

9. Shalmaneser marched to Samaria and surrounded it. It was in the fourth year of King Hezekiah. That was the seventh year of Hoshea, the king of Israel. He was the son of Elah. Shalmaneser was king of Assyria.

10. మూడు సంవత్సరములు పూర్తియైన తరువాత అష్షూరీయులు దాని పట్టుకొనిరి. హిజ్కియా యేలుబడిలో ఆరవ సంవత్సరమందు, ఇశ్రాయేలురాజైన హోషేయ యేలు బడిలో తొమ్మిదవ సంవత్సరమందు షోమ్రోను పట్టణము పట్టబడెను.

10. At the end of three years the army of Assyria took Samaria. So it was captured in the sixth year of Hezekiah. That was the ninth year of Hoshea, the king of Israel.

11. తమ దేవుడైన యెహోవా సెలవిచ్చిన మాట విననివారై ఆయన నిబంధనకును ఆయన సేవకుడైన మోషే ఆజ్ఞాపించిన దానంతటికిని లోబడక అతిక్రమించి యుండిరి.

11. The king of Assyria took the people of Israel away from their own land. He sent them off to Assyria. He settled some of them in Halah. He settled others in Gozan on the Habor River. And he settled still others in the towns of the Medes.

12. అష్షూరు రాజు ఇశ్రాయేలు వారిని అష్షూరు దేశములోనికి తీసికొని పోయి గోజాను నది దగ్గరనున్న హాలహు హాబోరు అను పట్టణములలోను మాదీయుల పట్టణములలోను వారిని ఉంచెను.

12. Those things happened because the Israelites hadn't obeyed the Lord their God. They had broken the covenant he had made with them. They had refused to do everything Moses, the servant of the Lord, had commanded. They hadn't paid any attention to those commands. They hadn't obeyed them.

13. రాజైన హిజ్కియా యేలుబడిలో పదునాలుగవ సంవ త్సరమందు అష్షూరురాజైన సన్హెరీబు యూదా దేశ మందున్న ప్రాకారములుగల పట్టణములన్నిటి మీదికి వచ్చి వాటిని పట్టుకొనగా

13. Sennacherib attacked and captured all of the cities of Judah that had high walls around them. It was in the 14th year of the rule of Hezekiah. Sennacherib was king of Assyria.

14. యూదారాజైన హిజ్కియా లాకీషు పట్టణమందున్న అష్షూరు రాజునొద్దకు దూతలను పంపినావలన తప్పు వచ్చినది;నాయొద్దనుండి తిరిగి నీవు వెళ్లిపోయినయెడల నామీద నీవు మోపినదానిని నేను భరించుదునని వర్తమానముచేయగా, అష్షూరురాజు యూదా రాజైన హిజ్కియాకు ఆరు వందల మణుగుల వెండియు అరువది మణుగుల బంగారమును జుల్మానాగా నియ మించెను.

14. Hezekiah, the king of Judah, sent a message to the king of Assyria at Lachish. It said, 'I have done what is wrong. Pull your troops back from me. Then I'll pay you anything you ask me to.' The king of Assyria forced Hezekiah, the king of Judah, to give him 11 tons of silver. Hezekiah also had to give him a ton of gold.

15. కావున హిజ్కియా యెహోవా మందిర మందును రాజనగరునందున్న పదార్థములలో కనబడిన వెండియంతయు అతనికిచ్చెను.

15. So Hezekiah gave him all of the silver that was in the Lord's temple. He also gave him all of the silver that was among the treasures in the royal palace.

16. Hezekiah, the king of Judah, had covered the doors and doorposts of the Lord's temple with gold. But now he had to strip it off. He had to give it to the king of Assyria.

17. The king of Assyria sent his highest commander from Lachish to King Hezekiah at Jerusalem. He also sent his chief officer and his field commander along with a large army. All of them came up to Jerusalem. They stopped at the channel that brings water from the Upper Pool. It was on the road to the Washerman's Field.

18. హిల్కీయా కుమారుడును గృహనిర్వాహకుడునైన ఎల్యా కీమును, శాస్త్రియగు షెబ్నాయును, రాజ్యపుదస్తావేజుల మీద నున్న ఆసాపు కుమారుడైన యోవాహును వారి యొద్దకు పోయిరి.

18. They called for King Hezekiah. Eliakim, Shebna and Joah went out to them. Eliakim, the son of Hilkiah, was in charge of the palace. Shebna was the secretary. Joah, the son of Asaph, kept the records.

19. అప్పుడు రబ్షాకే వారితో ఇట్లనెనుఈ మాట హిజ్కియాతో తెలియజెప్పుడుమహా రాజైన అష్షూరురాజు సెలవిచ్చినదేమనగానీవు ఈలాగు చెప్పవలెను. నీవు నమ్ముకొను ఈ ఆశ్రయాస్పదము ఏపాటి ప్రయోజనకారి?

19. The field commander said to them, 'Give Hezekiah this message. Tell him, ' 'Sennacherib is the great king of Assyria. He says, 'Why are you putting your faith in what your king says?

20. యుద్ధ విషయములో నీ యోచనయు నీ బలమును వట్టి మాటలే. ఎవని నమ్ముకొని నామీద తిరుగుబాటు చేయుచున్నావు?

20. You say you have a military plan. You say you have a strong army. But your words don't mean anything. Who are you depending on? Why don't you want to stay under my control?

21. నలిగిన రెల్లువంటి యీ ఐగుప్తును నీవు నమ్ముకొనుచున్నావు గదా ఒకడు దానిమీద ఆనుకొన్నయెడల అది వానిచేతికి గుచ్చు కొని దూసి పోవును. ఐగుప్తురాజైన ఫరో అతని నమ్ముకొను వారి కందరికిని అట్టివాడే.

21. ' ' 'You are depending on Egypt. Why are you doing that? Egypt is nothing but a broken papyrus stem. Try leaning on it. It will only cut your hand. Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, is just like that to everyone who depends on him.

22. మా దేవుడైన యెహోవాను మేము నమ్ముకొనుచున్నామని మీరు నాతో చెప్పెద రేమో సరే. - యెరూషలేమందున్న యీ బలిపీఠమునొద్ద మాత్రమే మీరు నమస్కారము చేయవలెనని యూదా వారికిని యెరూషలేమువారికిని ఆజ్ఞ ఇచ్చి హిజ్కియా యెవని ఉన్నతస్థలములను బలిపీఠములను పడగొట్టెనో ఆయనేగదా యెహోవా?

22. ' ' 'Suppose you say to me, 'We are depending on the Lord our God.' Didn't Hezekiah remove your god's high places and altars? Didn't Hezekiah say to the people of Judah and Jerusalem, 'You must worship at the altar in Jerusalem'?

23. కావున చిత్తగించి అష్షూరు రాజైన నా యేలినవానితో పందెము వేయుము; రెండువేల గుఱ్ఱములమీద రౌతులను ఎక్కించుటకు నీకు శక్తియున్న యెడల నేను వాటిని నీకిచ్చెదను.

23. ' ' 'Come on. Make a deal with my master, the king of Assyria. I'll give you 2,000 horses. But only if you can put riders on them!

24. అట్లయితే నా యజ మానుని సేవకులలో అత్యల్పుడైన అధిపతియగు ఒకనిని నీవేలాగు ఎదిరింతువు? రథములను రౌతులను పంపునని ఐగుప్తురాజును నీవు ఆశ్రయించుకొంటివే.

24. You are depending on Egypt for chariots and horsemen. You can't drive away even the least important officer among my master's officials.

25. యెహోవా సెలవు నొందకయే ఈ దేశమును పాడుచేయుటకు నేను వచ్చితినా? లేదు; ఆ దేశముమీదికి పోయి దాని పాడు చేయుమని యెహోవా నాకు ఆజ్ఞ ఇచ్చెను అనెను.

25. ' ' 'Besides, do you think I've come without receiving a message from the Lord? Have I come to attack and destroy this place without a message from him? The Lord himself told me to march out against your country. He told me to destroy it.' ' '

26. హిల్కీయా కుమారుడైన ఎల్యాకీము షెబ్నాయు యోవాహు అనువారుచిత్తగించుము, నీ దాసులమైన మాకు సిరియా భాష తెలియును గనుక దానితో మాట లాడుము; ప్రాకారముమీద నున్న ప్రజల వినికిడిలో యూదుల భాషతో మాటలాడకుమని రబ్షాకేతో అనగా

26. Then Shebna, Joah and Eliakim, the son of Hilkiah, spoke to the field commander. They said, 'Please speak to us in the Aramaic language. We understand it. Don't speak to us in Hebrew. If you do, the people who are on the wall will be able to understand you.'

27. రబ్షాకే ఈ మాటలు చెప్పుటకై నా యజమానుడు నీ యజమానుని యొద్దకును నీయొద్దకును నన్ను పంపెనా? తమమలమును తినునట్లును తమ మూత్రమును త్రాగునట్లును మీతోకూడ ప్రాకారముమీద కూర్చున్నవారియొద్దకును నన్ను పంపెనుగదా అని చెప్పి

27. But the commander replied, 'My master sent me to say these things. Are these words only for your master and you to hear? Aren't they also for the men who are sitting on the wall? They are going to suffer just like you. They'll have to eat their own waste. They'll have to drink their own urine.'

28. గొప్పశబ్దముతో యూదాభాషతో ఇట్లనెనుమహారాజైన అష్షూరురాజు సెలవిచ్చిన మాటలు వినుడి. రాజు సెలవిచ్చినదేమనగా

28. Then the commander stood up and spoke in the Hebrew language. He called out, 'Pay attention to what the great king of Assyria is telling you.

29. హిజ్కియాచేత మోసపోకుడి; నా చేతిలోనుండి మిమ్మును విడిపింప శక్తి వానికి చాలదు.

29. He says, 'Don't let Hezekiah trick you. He can't save you from my powerful hand.

30. యెహోవాను బట్టి మిమ్మును నమ్మించియెహోవా మనలను విడిపించును, ఈ పట్టణము అష్షూరురాజు చేతిలో చిక్కకపోవునని హిజ్కియా చెప్పుచున్నాడే.

30. Don't let Hezekiah talk you into trusting in the Lord. Don't believe him when he says, 'You can be sure that the Lord will save us. This city will not be handed over to the king of Assyria.' '

31. హిజ్కియా చెప్పిన మాట మీరంగీకరింపవద్దు; అష్షూరురాజు సెలవిచ్చినదేమ నగానాతో సంధిచేసికొని నాయొద్దకు మీరు బయటికి వచ్చినయెడల మీలో ప్రతిమనిషి తన ద్రాక్షచెట్టుఫలమును తన అంజూరపుచెట్టు ఫలమును తినుచు తన బావి నీళ్లు త్రాగుచు ఉండును.

31. 'Don't listen to Hezekiah. The king of Assyria says, 'Make a peace treaty with me. Come over to my side. Then every one of you will eat fruit from your own vine and fig tree. Every one of you will drink water from your own well.

32. అటుపిమ్మట మీరుచావక బ్రదుకునట్లుగా మేము వచ్చి మీ దేశమువంటి దేశమునకు, అనగా గోధుమలును ద్రాక్షారసమును గల దేశమునకును, ఆహారమును ద్రాక్షచెట్లును గల దేశమున కును, ఒలీవతైలమును తేనెయునుగల దేశమునకును మిమ్మును తీసికొని పోవుదును, అచ్చట మీరు సుఖముగా నుందురు. కావునయెహోవా మిమ్మును విడిపించునని చెప్పి హిజ్కియా మీకు బోధించు మాటలను వినవద్దు.

32. You will do that until I come back. Then I'll take you to a land that is just like yours. It's a land that has a lot of grain and fresh wine. It has plenty of bread and vineyards. It has olive trees and honey. So choose life! Don't choose death!' 'Don't pay any attention to Hezekiah. He's telling you a lie when he says, 'The Lord will save us.'

33. ఆయా జనముల దేవతలలో ఏదైనను తన దేశమును అష్షూరురాజు చేతిలోనుండి విడిపించెనా?

33. Has the god of any nation ever saved his land from the powerful hand of the king of Assyria?

34. హమాతు దేవతలు ఏమా యెను? అర్పాదు దేవతలు ఏమాయెను? సెపర్వయీము దేవతలు ఏమాయెను? హేన ఇవ్వా అనువారి దేవతలు ఏమాయెను? (షోమ్రోను దేశపు) దేవత మా చేతిలోనుండి షోమ్రోనును విడిపించెనా?

34. Where are the gods of Hamath and Arpad? Where are the gods of Sepharvaim, Hena and Ivvah? Have they saved Samaria from my power?

35. యెహోవా మా చేతిలోనుండి యెరూషలేమును విడిపించుననుటకు ఆయా దేశముల దేవతలలో ఏదైనను తన దేశమును మా చేతిలోనుండి విడిపించినది కలదా అని చెప్పెను.

35. 'Which one of all of the gods of those countries has been able to save his land from me? So how can the Lord save Jerusalem from my power?'

36. అయితే అతనికి ప్రత్యుత్తరమియ్యవద్దని రాజు సెలవిచ్చి యుండుటచేత జనులు ఎంతమాత్రమును ప్రత్యుత్తరమియ్యక ఊరకుండిరి.

36. But the people remained silent. They didn't say anything. That's because King Hezekiah had commanded, 'Don't answer him.'

37. గృహ నిర్వాహకుడును హిల్కీయా కుమారుడు నైన ఎల్యాకీ మును, శాస్త్రియగు షెబ్నాయును, రాజ్యపు దస్తావేజులమీదనున్న ఆసాపు కుమారుడైన యోవాహును, బట్టలు చింపుకొని హిజ్కియాయొద్దకు వచ్చి, రబ్షాకే పలికిన మాటలన్నియు తెలియజెప్పిరి.

37. Then Eliakim, the son of Hilkiah, went to Hezekiah. Eliakim was in charge of the palace. The secretary Shebna went with him. So did Joah, the son of Asaph. Joah kept the records. All of them went to Hezekiah with their clothes torn. They told him what the field commander had said.
