1. యోషీయా యేలనారంభించినప్పుడు ఎనిమిదేండ్ల వాడై యెరూషలేమునందు ముప్పదియొక సంవత్సరములు ఏలెను, అతని తల్లి బొస్కతు ఊరి వాడగు అదాయాకు కుమార్తెయైన యెదీదా.

1. Eight years old, was Josiah when he began to reign, and, thirty-one years, reigned he in Jerusalem, and, this mother's name, was Jedidah daughter of Adaiah, of Bozkath.

2. అతడు యెహోవా దృష్టికి యథార్థముగా నడుచుచు, కుడి యెడమలకు తిరుగక తన పితరుడగు దావీదు చూపిన ప్రవర్తనకు సరిగా ప్రవర్తించెను.

2. And he did that which was right in the eyes of Yahweh, and walked in all the way of David his father, and turned not aside, to the right hand or to the left.

3. రాజైన యోషీయా యేలుబడిలో పదునెనిమిదవ సంవత్సరమందు, మెషుల్లామునకు పుట్టిన అజల్యా కుమారు డును శాస్త్రియునైన షాఫానును యెహోవా మందిరమునకు పొమ్మని చెప్పి రాజు అతనితో ఈలాగు సెల విచ్చెను.

3. And it came to pass, in the eighteenth year of King Josiah, that the king sent Shaphan son of Azaliah son of Meshullam, the scribe, to the house of Yahweh, saying

4. నీవు ప్రధాన యాజకుడైన హిల్కీయా యొద్దకు పోయి, ద్వారపాలకులు జనుల యొద్ద వసూలు చేసి యెహోవా మందిరములో ఉంచిన రొక్కపు మొత్తము చూడుమని అతనితో చెప్పుము.

4. Go up unto Hilkiah, the high priest, that he pour out the silver that hath been brought into the house of Yahweh, which the keepers of the entrance-hall have gathered from the people,

5. యెహోవా మందిరపు పనికి అధికారులై పని జరిగించువారిచేతికి ఆ ద్రవ్యమును అప్పగించిన తరువాతయెహోవా మందిర మందలి శిథిలమైన స్థలములను బాగుచేయుటకై యెహోవా మందిరపు పనిచేయు కూలివారికి వారు దాని నియ్యవలెననియు

5. that they may give it into the hand of the doers of the work, who have oversight of the house of Yahweh, that they may give it to the doers of the work, who are in the house of Yahweh, to repair the breaches of the house;

6. వడ్లవారికిని శిల్పకారులకును కాసెపని వారికిని మందిరమును బాగుచేయుటకై మ్రానులనేమి చెక్కిన రాళ్లనేమి కొనుటకును ఇయ్యవలెననియు తెలియ జెప్పుము.

6. to the carpenters, and to the builders, and to the masons, and to buy timber, and hewn stones, for repairing the house.

7. ఆ అధికారులు నమ్మకస్థులని వారి చేతికి అప్ప గించిన ద్రవ్యమునుగూర్చి వారియొద్ద లెక్క పుచ్చుకొన కుండిరి.

7. Howbeit there used to be no reckoning made with them, as to the silver that was given into their hand, because, with faithfulness, were they dealing.

8. అంతట ప్రధానయాజకుడైన హిల్కీయాయెహోవా మందిరమందు ధర్మశాస్త్రగ్రంథము నాకు దొరికెనని షాఫాను అను శాస్త్రితో చెప్పి ఆ గ్రంథ మును షాఫానునకు అప్పగించెను. అతడు దానిని చదివి

8. Then said Hilkiah the high priest, unto Shaphan the scribe The book of the law, have I found, in the house of Yahweh. So Hilkiah delivered the book unto Shaphan, and he read it.

9. రాజునొద్దకు తిరిగి వచ్చి మీ సేవకులు మందిరమందు దొరికిన ద్రవ్యమును సమకూర్చి యెహోవా మందిరపు పనివిషయములో అధికారులై పని జరిగించువారిచేతికి అప్పగించిరని వర్తమానము తెలిపి

9. Then came Shaphan the scribe unto the king, and brought the king word again, and said Thy servants have poured out the silver that was found in the house, and have delivered it unto the hand of the doers of the work, who have oversight of the house of Yahweh.

10. యాజకుడైన హిల్కీయా నాకు ఒక గ్రంథము అప్పగించెనని రాజుతో చెప్పి ఆగ్రంథమును రాజు సముఖమందు చదివెను.

10. Then Shaphan the scribe told the king, saying A book, hath Hilkiah the priest delivered unto me. And Shaphan read it before the king.

11. రాజు ధర్మశాస్త్రము గల ఆ గ్రంథపుమాటలు వినినప్పుడు తన బట్టలు చింపుకొనెను.

11. And it came to pass, when the king heard the words of the book of the law, that he rent his clothes.

12. తరువాత రాజు యాజకుడైన హిల్కీయాను, షాఫాను కుమారుడైన అహీకామును, మీకాయా కుమారుడైన అక్బోరును, షాఫాను అను శాస్త్రిని, అశాయా అను రాజసేవకులలో ఒకనిని పిలిచి ఆజ్ఞాపించినదేమనగా

12. And the king commanded Hilkiah the priest, and Ahikam son of Shaphan, and Achbor son of Micaiah, and Shaphan the scribe, and Asaiah the king's servant, saying:

13. మీరు పోయి దొరికిన యీ గ్రంథపు మాటలను గూర్చి నా విషయములోను జనుల విషయములోను యూదావారందరి విషయములోను యెహోవాయొద్ద విచారణచేయుడి; మన పితరులు తమ విషయములో వ్రాయబడియున్న దానంతటి ప్రకారము చేయక యీ గ్రంథపు మాటలను విననివారైరి గనుక యెహోవా కోపాగ్ని మనమీద ఇంత అధికముగా మండుచున్నది.

13. Go ye enquire of Yahweh, for me and for the people, and for all Judah, concerning the words of this book which hath been found, for, great, is the wrath of Yahweh, in that it hath fired up against us, because our fathers have not hearkened unto the words of this book, to do according to all which is written concerning us.

14. కాబట్టి యాజకుడైన హిల్కీయాయును, అహికామును, అక్బోరును, షాఫానును, అశాయా యును ప్రవక్త్రియగు హుల్దాయొద్దకు వచ్చిరి. ఈమె వస్త్ర శాలకు అధికారియగు హర్హషుకు పుట్టిన తిక్వాకు కుమారుడైన షల్లూమునకు భార్యయై యెరూషలేములో రెండవ భాగమందు కాపురస్థురాలై యుండెను. ఈమెయొద్దకు వారు వచ్చి మాటలాడగా

14. So Hilkiah the priest, and Ahikam, and Achbor, and Shaphan, and Asaiah, went unto Huldah the prophetess, wife of Shallum son of Tikvah, son of Harhas keeper of the vestments, she having her dwelling in Jerusalem, in the new city, and they spake unto her.

15. ఈమె వారితో ఇట్లనెనుమిమ్మును నాయొద్దకు పంపిన వానితో ఈ మాట తెలియ జెప్పుడి

15. And she said unto them, Thus, saith Yahweh, God of Israel, Say ye unto the man who hath sent you unto me:

16. యెహోవా సెలవిచ్చునదేమనగాయూదా రాజు చదివించిన గ్రంథములో వ్రాయబడియున్న కీడంతటిని ఏదియు విడిచిపెట్టకుండ నేను ఈ స్థలముమీదికిని దాని కాపురస్థులమీదికిని రప్పింతును.

16. Thus, saith Yahweh, Behold me! about to bring calamity upon this place, and upon the inhabitants thereof, all the words of the book, which, the king of Judah, hath read:

17. ఈ జనులు నన్ను విడిచి యితరదేవతలకు ధూపము వేయుచు, తమ సకల కార్యములచేత నాకు కోపము పుట్టించి యున్నారు గనుక నా కోపము ఆరిపోకుండ ఈ స్థలముమీద రగులుకొను చున్నది.

17. Because they have forsaken me, and burned incense unto other gods, that they might provoke me to anger, with all the workmanship of their hands; and so my wrath shall fire up against this place, and shall not be quenched:

18. యెహోవాయొద్ద విచారణ చేయుటకై మిమ్మును పంపిన యూదారాజునకు ఈ మాట తెలియపరచుడి

18. But, unto the king of Judah, who hath sent you to enquire of Yahweh, thus, shall ye say unto him, Thus, saith Yahweh, God of Israel, As touching the words which thou hast heard:

19. ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల దేవుడైన యెహోవా సెలవిచ్చున దేమనగాఈ స్థలము పాడగుననియు, దాని కాపురస్థులు దూషణాస్పదులగుదురనియు, నేను చెప్పిన మాటలను నీవు ఆలకించి, మెత్తని మనస్సుకలిగి యెహోవా సన్నిధిని దీనత్వము ధరించి, నీ బట్టలు చింపుకొని నా సన్నిధిని కన్నీళ్లు రాల్చితివి గనుక నీవు చేయు మనవిని నేను అంగీ కరించియున్నాను.

19. Because, tender, was thy heart, and thou didst humble thyself before Yahweh when thou heardest what I had spoken against this place and against the inhabitants thereof that they should become a desolation and a curse, and didst rend thy clothes, and weep before me, therefore also, I, have hearkened declareth Yahweh.

20. నేను నిన్ను నీ పితరులయొద్ద చేర్చు దును; నీవు నెమ్మది నొందినవాడవై సమాధికి చేర్చబడుదువు. నేను ఈ స్థలముమీదికి రప్పింపబోవు కీడును నీవు నీ కన్నులతో చూడనే చూడవు; ఇదే యెహోవా వాక్కు. అంతట వారు ఈ వర్తమానమును రాజు నొద్దకు తెచ్చిరి.

20. For this cause, behold me! about to gather thee unto thy fathers, and thou shalt be gathered unto thy graves, in peace, and so thine eyes shall not look upon all the misfortune which I am about to bring upon this place. And they brought the king word again.
