1. అహాబు కుమారుడైన యెహోరాము యూదా రాజైన యెహోషాపాతు ఏలుబడిలో పదునెనిమిదవ సంవత్సరమందు షోమ్రోనులో ఇశ్రాయేలువారికి రాజై పండ్రెండు సంవత్సరములు ఏలెను.

1. Now, Jehoram son of Ahab, began to reign over Israel, in Samaria, in the eighteenth year of Jehoshaphat, king of Judah, and he reigned twelve years.

2. ఇతడు తన తలి దండ్రులు చేసిన ప్రకారము చేయక, తన తండ్రి నిలిపిన బయలుదేవతా స్తంభమును తీసివేసెను గాని యెహోవా దృష్టికి చెడుతనము చేయుట మానకుండెను

2. And he did the thing that was wicked in the eyes of Yahweh, only, not like his father, nor like his mother, but he put away the pillars of Baal which, his father, had made;

3. ఇశ్రాయేలు వారు పాపము చేయుటకు కారకుడగు నెబాతు కుమారుడైన యరొబాము చేసిన పాపములను విడువక చేయుచునే వచ్చెను.

3. nevertheless, unto the sins of Jeroboam son of Nebat which he caused Israel to commit, he did cleave, he turned not away therefrom

4. మోయాబు రాజైన మేషా అనేకమైన మందలుగల వాడై లక్ష గొఱ్ఱెపిల్లలను బొచ్చుగల లక్ష గొఱ్ఱెపొట్టేళ్లను ఇశ్రాయేలురాజునకు పన్నుగా ఇచ్చుచుండువాడు.

4. Now, Mesha king of Moab, was a sheep-master, and used to render to the king of Israel, the wool of hundred thousand fat sheep, and of a hundred thousand rams.

5. అయితే అహాబు మరణమైన తరువాత మోయాబురాజు ఇశ్రాయేలురాజుమీద తిరుగుబాటు చేయగా

5. And it came to pass, when Ahab died, that the king of Moab revolted against the king of Israel.

6. యెహో రాము షోమ్రోనులోనుండి బయలుదేరి ఇశ్రాయేలువారినందరిని సమకూర్చెను.

6. So King Jehoram went forth, on that day, out of Samaria, and numbered all Israel.

7. యూదారాజైన యెహోషా పాతునకు వర్తమానము పంపిమోయా బురాజు నామీద తిరుగుబాటు చేసియున్నాడు; నీవు వచ్చి నాతోకూడ మోయాబీయులతో యుద్ధము చేసెదవా అని యడుగగా అతడునేను నీవాడనైయున్నాను, నా జనులు నీ జనులే, నా గుఱ్ఱములు నీ గుఱ్ఱములే; నేను బయలుదేరి వచ్చెదనని ప్రత్యుత్తరమిచ్చెను.

7. And he departed, and sent unto Jehoshaphat king of Judah, saying The king of Moab, hath revolted against me, wilt thou go with me against Moab to battle? And he said I will go up, I am as thou art, my people are as thy people, my horses as thy horses.

8. మనము ఏ మార్గమున పోవుదమని యెహోషాపాతు అడుగగా అతడుఎదోము అరణ్య మార్గమున పోవుదుమని చెప్పెను.

8. And he said Which way, then, shall we go up? And he said The way of the wilderness of Edom.

9. ఇశ్రాయేలురాజును యూదారాజును ఎదోమురాజును బయలుదేరి యేడు దిన ములు చుట్టు తిరిగిన తరువాత, వారితో కూడనున్న దండువారికిని పశువులకును నీళ్లు లేకపోయెను.

9. Then departed the king of Israel, and the king of Judah, and the king of Edom, and went round, a journey of seven days, and there was no water for the host, nor for the cattle that went with them.

10. ఇశ్రా యేలురాజుకటకటా ముగ్గురు రాజులమైన మనలను మోయాబీయులచేతికి అప్పగింపవలెనని యెహోవా మనలను పిలిచెననగా

10. Then said the king of Israel Alas! for Yahweh hath called these three kings, to deliver them into the hand of Moab.

11. యెహోషా పాతు అతనిద్వారా మనము యెహోవాయొద్ద విచారణచేయుటకు యెహోవా ప్రవక్తలలో ఒకడైనను ఇచ్చట లేడా అని యడిగెను. అంతట ఇశ్రాయేలురాజు సేవకులలో ఒకడుఏలీయా చేతులమీద నీళ్లుపోయుచు వచ్చిన1షాపాతు కుమారుడైన ఎలీషా ఇక్కడ ఉన్నాడని చెప్పగా

11. So Jehoshaphat said Is there not, here, a prophet of Yahweh, that we may enquire of Yahweh, from him? Then answered one of the servants of the king of Israel, and said, Here, is Elisha son of Shaphat, who poured water on the hands of Elijah.

12. యహోషాపాతు యెహోవా ఆజ్ఞ యితని ద్వారామనకు దొరుకుననెను. ఇశ్రాయేలురాజును యెహోషాపాతును ఎదోమురాజును అతని యొద్దకుపోగా

12. Then said Jehoshaphat, The word of Yahweh, is with him. So the king of Israel, and Jehoshaphat, and the king of Edom, went down unto him.

13. ఎలీషా ఇశ్రాయేలురాజును చూచినాతో నీకు నిమిత్తమేమి? నీ తలిదండ్రులుంచుకొనిన ప్రవక్తలయొద్దకు పొమ్మని చెప్పెను. ఆలాగనవద్దు, మోయాబీయులచేతికి అప్పగింపవలెనని యెహోవా, రాజులమైన మా ముగ్గురిని పిలిచెనని ఇశ్రాయేలురాజు అతనితో అనినప్పుడు

13. And Elisha said unto the king of Israel What have I and thou in common? get thee unto the prophets of thy father, and unto the prophets of thy mother. But the king of Israel said to him Nay! for Yahweh hath called together these three kings, to deliver them into the hand of Moab.

14. ఎలీషా ఇట్లనెనుఎవని సన్నిధిని నేను నిలువబడియున్నానో, ఇశ్రాయేలు దేవుడైన ఆ యెహోవా జీవముతోడు యూదారాజైన యెహోషా పాతును నేను గౌరవము చేయనియెడల నిన్ను చూచుటకైనను లక్ష్యపెట్టుటకైనను ఒప్పకపోదును.

14. Then said Elisha By the life of Yahweh of hosts, before whom I stand, were it not that, the countenance of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, I would lift up, I would neither look at thee, nor see thee.

15. నాయొద్దకు వీణ వాయించగల యొకనిని తీసి కొనిరమ్ము. వాద్యకు డొకడు వచ్చి వాయించుచుండగా యెహోవా హస్తము అతనిమీదికి వచ్చెను గనుక అతడు ఈ మాట ప్రకటన చేసెను.

15. But, now, bring me one that can touch the strings. For it used to be, when the player touched the strings, then would, the hand of Yahweh, be upon him.

16. యెహోవా సెలవిచ్చినదేమనగాఈ లోయలో చాలా గోతులను త్రవ్వించుడి;

16. Then said he, Thus, saith Yahweh, Make, in this torrent-bed, pits, pits!

17. యెహోవా సెలవిచ్చునదేమనగాగాలియే గాని వర్షమే గాని రాక పోయినను, మీరును మీ మందలును మీ పశువులును త్రాగుటకు ఈ లోయ నీళ్లతో నిండును.

17. For, thus, saith Yahweh Ye shall not see wind, and ye shall not see rain, yet, that torrent-bed, shall be filled with water, And ye shall drink, ye, and your cattle, and your beasts;

18. ఇది యెహోవా దృష్టికి అల్పమే, ఆయన మోయాబీయులను మీచేతికి అప్పగించును.

18. And, this being a small thing in the eyes of Yahweh, he will deliver Moab into your hand;

19. మీరు ప్రాకారములుగల ప్రతి పట్టణమును రమ్యమైన ప్రతి పట్టణమును కొల్లబెట్టి, మంచి చెట్లనెల్ల నరికి, నీళ్ల బావులన్నిటిని పూడ్చి, సమస్తమైన మంచి భూములను రాళ్లతో నెరిపివేయుదురు అనెను.

19. And ye shall smite every strong city, and every choice city, and, every goodly tree, shall ye fell, and, all fountains water, shall ye close up, and, every goodly heritage, shall ye mar with stones.

20. ఉదయ నైవేద్యము అర్పించు సమయమందు నీళ్లు ఎదోము మార్గమున రాగా దేశము నీళ్లతో నిండెను.

20. And it came to pass, in the morning, when the offering ascended, that lo! waters, were coming in from the way of Edom, and the land was filled with the water.

21. తమతో యుద్ధము చేయుటకు రాజులు వచ్చియున్నారని మోయాబీయులు విని, అల్పులనేమి ఘనులనేమి ఆయుధములు ధరించుకొనగల వారినందరిని సమకూర్చు కొని దేశపు సరిహద్దునందు నిలిచిరి.

21. Now, all Moab, had heard that the kings had come up to fight against them, so they came together, from all who could gird on a girdle and upwards, and took their stand at the border.

22. ఉదయమందు వీరు లేచినప్పుడు సూర్యుడు నీళ్లమీద ప్రకాశింపగా, అవతలి నీళ్లు మోయాబీయులకు రక్తమువలె కనబడెను

22. And, when they rose early in the morning, the sun, shone forth upon the waters, and so the Moabites beheld over against them, the waters, red as blood.

23. గనుక వారు అది రక్తము సుమా; రాజులు ఒకరినొకరు హతము చేసికొని నిజముగా హతులైరి; మోయాబీయులారా, దోపుడు సొమ్ము పట్టుకొందము రండని చెప్పుకొనిరి.

23. They said therefore Blood, this! Destroyed! The kings have destroyed each other! Yea they have smitten every man his neighbour, Now, then, to the spoil, O Moab!

24. వారు ఇశ్రాయేలువారి దండుదగ్గరకు రాగా ఇశ్రాయేలీయులు లేచి వారిని హతము చేయుచుండిరి గనుక మోయాబీయులు వారియెదుట నిలువలేక పారిపోయిరి; ఇశ్రా యేలీయులు వారి దేశములో చొరబడి మోయాబీయులను హతము చేసిరి.

24. And, when they came into the camp of Israel, Israel arose and smote Moab, and they fled from before them, so they entered thereinto, yea still farther entered Moab;

25. మరియు వారు పట్టణములను పడ గొట్టి, సమస్తమైన మంచి భూభాగములమీదను తలయొక రాయి వేసి నింపి, నీళ్ల బావులన్నిటిని పూడ్చి, మంచి చెట్లన్నిటిని నరికివేసిరి. కీర్హరెశెతు పట్టణమును మాత్రము వారు విడిచిపెట్టిరి గనుక దాని ప్రాకారము నిలిచి యుండెను గాని వడిసెలలు విసరువారు దాని చుట్టుకొని రాళ్లు విసరుచు వచ్చిరి.

25. And, the cities, they pulled down, and, on every goodly heritage, they cast every man his stone, and filled it, and, all fountains of waters, they closed up, and, every goodly tree, they felled, and, though they left the stones thereof in Kir-haraseth, yet the slingers surrounded and smote it.

26. మోయాబురాజు యుద్ధము బహు కఠినముగా జరుగుట చూచి కత్తిదూయు ఏడువందల మందిని ఏర్పరచుకొని, ఎదోమురాజునొద్దకు తీసికొని పోవు టకు యత్నించెను గాని అది వారివలన కాకపోయెను.

26. And, when the king of Moab saw that, the battle, prevailed against him, he took with him seven hundred men that drew swords, to break through against the king of Edom, but they could not.

27. అప్పుడతడు తనకు మారుగా ఏలవలసిన తన జ్యేష్ఠ కుమారుని తీసికొని, పట్టణపు ప్రాకారముమీద దహన బలిగా అర్పిం పగా ఇశ్రాయేలు వారిమీదికి కోపము బహుగా వచ్చెను గనుక వారు అతనిని విడిచి తమ దేశమునకు మరలిపోయిరి.

27. So he took his firstborn son who was to have reigned in his stead, and offered him up as an ascending-sacrifice upon the wall. And so it came to pass that there was great indignation against Israel. And they brake up from against him, and returned to their own land.
