1. తరువాత సాతాను ఇశ్రాయేలునకు విరోధముగా లేచి, ఇశ్రాయేలీయులను లెక్కించుటకు దావీదును ప్రేరేపింపగా

1. And Satan stoode vp against Israel, and prouoked Dauid to nomber Israel.

2. దావీదు యోవాబునకును జనులయొక్క అధి పతులకునుమీరు వెళ్లి బెయేర్షెబా మొదలుకొని దాను వరకు ఉండు ఇశ్రాయేలీయులను ఎంచి, వారి సంఖ్య నాకు తెలియుటకై నాయొద్దకు దాని తీసికొని రండని ఆజ్ఞ ఇచ్చెను.

2. Therefore Dauid said to Ioab, and to the rulers of the people, Go, and nomber Israel from Beer-sheba euen to Dan, and bring it to me, that I may knowe the nomber of them.

3. అందుకు యోవాబురాజా నా యేలిన వాడా, యెహోవా తన జనులను ఇప్పుడున్నవారికంటె నూరంతలు ఎక్కువమందిని చేయునుగాక;వారందరు నా యేలినవాని దాసులుకారా? నా యేలినవానికి ఈ విచారణ యేల? ఇది జరుగవలసిన హేతువేమి? జరిగినయెడల ఇశ్రాయేలీయులకు శిక్ష కలుగును అని మనవిచేసెను.

3. And Ioab answered, The Lord increase his people an hundreth times so many as they be, O my lord the King: are they not all my lords seruats? wherefore doeth my lord require this thing? why should he be a cause of trespasse to Israel?

4. అయినను యోవాబు మాట చెల్లక రాజు మాటయే చెల్లెను గనుక యోవాబు ఇశ్రాయేలు దేశమందంతట సంచరించి తిరిగి యెరూషలేమునకు వచ్చి జనుల సంఖ్య వెరసి దావీదునకు అప్పగించెను.

4. Neuerthelesse the Kings word preuailed against Ioab. And Ioab departed and went thorowe all Israel, and returned to Ierusalem.

5. ఇశ్రాయేలీయులందరిలో కత్తి దూయువారు పదకొండు లక్షల మందియు యూదా వారిలో కత్తి దూయువారు నాలుగు లక్షల డెబ్బదివేల మందియు సంఖ్యకు వచ్చిరి.

5. And Ioab gaue the nomber and summe of the people vnto Dauid: and all Israel were eleuen hundreth thousande men that drewe sword: and Iudah was foure hundreth and seuentie thousande men that drewe sword.

6. రాజు మాట యోవాబునకు అసహ్యముగా ఉండెను గనుక అతడు లేవి బెన్యామీను గోత్ర సంబంధులను ఆ సంఖ్యలో చేర్చలేదు.

6. But the Leuites and Beniamin counted he not among them: for the Kings worde was abominable to Ioab.

7. ఈ కార్యము దేవుని దృష్టికి ప్రతికూలమగుటచేత ఆయన ఇశ్రాయేలీయులను బాధపెట్టెను.

7. And God was displeased with this thing: therefore he smote Israel.

8. దావీదునేను ఈ కార్యముచేసి అధిక పాపము తెచ్చుకొంటిని, నేను మిక్కిలి అవివేకముగా ప్రవర్తించితిని, ఇప్పుడు నీ దాసుని దోషము పరిహరించుమని దేవునితో మొఱ్ఱపెట్టగా

8. Then Dauid saide vnto God, I haue sinned greatly, because I haue done this thing: but now, I beseech thee, remooue the iniquitie of thy seruant: for I haue done very foolishly.

9. యెహోవా దావీదునకు దర్శకుడగు గాదుతో ఈలాగు సెలవిచ్చెనునీవు వెళ్లి దావీ దుతో ఇట్లనుము.

9. And the Lord spake vnto Gad Dauids Seer, saying,

10. యెహోవా సెలవిచ్చునదేమనగామూడు విషయములు నేను నీయెదుట నుంచుచున్నాను, వాటిలో ఒకదానిని నీవు కోరుకొనినయెడల దాని నీకు చేయుదును.

10. Goe and tell Dauid, saying, Thus saith the Lord, I offer thee three thinges: choose thee one of them, that I may doe it vnto thee.

11. కావున గాదు దావీదు నొద్దకు వచ్చి యిట్లనెను

11. So Gad came to Dauid, and sayde vnto him, Thus saith the Lord, Take to thee

12. మూడేండ్ల పాటు కరవు కలుగుట, మూడు నెలలపాటు నీ శత్రువులు కత్తిదూసి నిన్ను తరుమగా నీవు వారియెదుట నిలువ లేక నశించిపోవుట, మూడు దినములపాటు దేశమందు యెహోవా కత్తి, అనగా తెగులు నిలుచుటచేత యెహోవా దూత ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల దేశమందంతట నాశనము కలుగజేయుట, అను వీటిలో ఒకదానిని నీవు కోరుకొనుమని యెహోవా సెలవిచ్చుచున్నాడు; కావున నన్ను పంపిన వానికి నేను ఏమి ప్రత్యుత్తరమియ్యవలెనో దాని యోచించుము.

12. Either three yeeres famine, or three moneths to be destroyed before thine aduersaries, and the sworde of thine enemies to take thee, or els the sworde of the Lord and pestilence in the lande three dayes, that the Angel of the Lord may destroy throughout all the coastes of Israel: nowe therefore aduise thee, what word I shall bring againe to him that sent me.

13. అందుకు దావీదునేను మిక్కిలి యిరుకులో చిక్కియున్నాను; యెహోవా మహా కృపగలవాడు, నేను మనుష్యులచేతిలో పడక ఆయన చేతిలోనే పడుదును గాక అని గాదుతో అనెను.

13. And Dauid said vnto Gad, I am in a wonderfull strait. let me nowe fall into the hande of the Lord: for his mercies are exceeding great, and let me not fall into the hande of man.

14. కావున యెహోవా ఇశ్రాయేలీయులమీదికి తెగులు పంపగా ఇశ్రాయేలీయులలో డెబ్బదివేలమంది చచ్చిరి.

14. So the Lord sent a pestilence in Israel, and there fell of Israel seuentie thousande men.

15. యెరూషలే మును నాశనము చేయుటకై దేవుడు ఒక దూతను పంపెను; అతడు నాశనము చేయబోవుచుండగా యెహోవా చూచి ఆ చేటు విషయమై సంతాపమొంది నాశనముచేయు దూతతోచాలును, ఇప్పుడు నీ చెయ్యి ఆపుమని సెల వియ్యగా ఆ దూత యెబూసీయుడైన ఒర్నాను కళ్లమునొద్ద నిలిచెను.

15. And God sent the Angel into Ierusalem to destroy it. And as he was destroying, the Lord behelde, and repented of the euill and sayde to the Angel that destroyed, It is nowe ynough, let thine hande cease. Then the Angel of the Lord stoode by the thresshing floore of Ornan the Iebusite.

16. దావీదు కన్నులెత్తి చూడగా, భూమ్యా కాశముల మధ్యను నిలుచుచు, వరదీసిన కత్తిచేత పట్టుకొని దానిని యెరూషలేముమీద చాపిన యెహోవా దూత కనబడెను. అప్పుడు దావీదును పెద్దలును గోనె పట్టలు కప్పుకొనినవారై సాష్టాంగపడగా

16. And Dauid lift vp his eyes, and sawe the Angel of the Lord stande betweene the earth and the heauen with his sworde drawen in his hand, and stretched out towarde Ierusalem. Then Dauid and the Elders of Israel, which were clothed in sacke, fell vpon their faces.

17. దావీదుజనులను ఎంచుమని ఆజ్ఞ ఇచ్చినవాడను నేనేగదా? పాపము చేసి చెడుతనము జరిగించినవాడను నేనేగదా? గొఱ్ఱెలవంటివారగు వీరేమి చేసిరి? నా దేవుడవైన యెహోవా, బాధపెట్టు నీ చెయ్యి నీ జనులమీద నుండ కుండ నామీదను నా తండ్రి యింటివారిమీదను ఉండ నిమ్మని దేవునితో మనవిచేసెను.

17. And Dauid said vnto God, Is it not I that commanded to nomber the people? It is euen I that haue sinned and haue committed euil, but these sheepe what haue they done? O Lord my God, I beseech thee, let thine hande be on me and on my fathers house, and not on thy people for their destruction.

18. యెబూసీయుడైన ఒర్నాను కళ్లమునందు యెహోవాకు ఒక బలిపీఠమును కట్టించుటకై దావీదు అచ్చటికి వెళ్లవలెనని దావీదునకు ఆజ్ఞ నిమ్మని యెహోవా దూత గాదునకు సెలవియ్యగా

18. Then the Angel of the Lord commanded Gad to say to Dauid, that Dauid should goe vp, and set vp an altar vnto the Lord in the thresshing floore of Ornan the Iebusite.

19. యెహోవా నామమున గాదు పలికిన మాట ప్రకారము దావీదు వెళ్లెను.

19. So Dauid went vp according to the saying of Gad, which he had spoken in the Name of the Lord.

20. ఒర్నాను అప్పుడు గోధుమలను నూర్చు చుండెను; అతడు వెనుకకు తిరిగి దూతను చూచినప్పుడు, అతడును అతనితో కూడనున్న అతని నలుగురు కుమారు లును దాగుకొనిరి.

20. And Ornan turned about, and sawe the Angel, and his foure sonnes, that were with him, hid them selues, and Ornan thresshed wheat.

21. దావీదు ఒర్నానునొద్దకు వచ్చినప్పుడు ఒర్నాను దావీదును చూచి, కళ్లములోనుండి వెలుపలికి వచ్చి, తల నేల మట్టునకు వంచి దావీదుకు నమస్కారము చేసెను.

21. And as Dauid came to Ornan, Ornan looked and sawe Dauid, and went out of the thresshing floore, and bowed himselfe to Dauid with his face to the grounde.

22. ఈ తెగులు జనులను విడిచిపోవునట్లుగా ఈ కళ్లపు ప్రదేశమందు నేను యెహోవాకు ఒక బలిపీఠమును కట్టించుటకై దాని నాకు తగిన క్రయమునకిమ్మని దావీదు ఒర్నానుతో అనగా

22. And Dauid saide to Ornan, Giue me the place of thy thresshing floore, that I may builde an altar therein vnto the Lord: giue it me for sufficient money, that the plague may be stayed from the people.

23. ఒర్నానురాజైన నా యేలినవాడు దాని తీసికొని తన దృష్టికి అనుకూలమైనట్టు చేయును గాక; ఇదిగో దహనబలులకు ఎద్దులు కట్టెలకై నురిపిడి సామగ్రి నైవేద్యమునకు గోధుమ పిండి; ఇదియంతయు నేనిచ్చెదనని దావీదుతో అనెను.

23. Then Ornan saide vnto Dauid, Take it to thee, and let my lord the King do that which seemeth him good: loe, I giue thee bullockes for burnt offrings, and thresshing instruments for wood, and wheat for meate offring, I giue it all.

24. రాజైన దావీదు అట్లు కాదు, నేను నీ సొత్తును ఊరక తీసికొని యెహోవాకు దహనబలులను అర్పించను, న్యాయమైన క్రయధనమిచ్చి దాని తీసికొందునని ఒర్నానుతో చెప్పి

24. And King Dauid saide to Ornan, Not so: but I will bye it for sufficient money: for I wil not take that which is thine for the Lord, nor offer burnt offrings without cost.

25. ఆ భూమికి ఆరువందల తులముల బంగారమును అతని కిచ్చెను.

25. So Dauid gaue to Ornan for that place sixe hundreth shekels of golde by weight.

26. పిమ్మటదావీదు యెహోవాకు అచ్చట ఒక బలిపీఠమును కట్టించి. దహనబలులను సమాధాన బలులను అర్పించి యెహోవాకు మొఱ్ఱపెట్టగా ఆయన ఆకాశములోనుండి దహనబలిపీఠము మీదికి అగ్నివలన అతనికి ప్రత్యుత్తరమిచ్చెను.

26. And Dauid built there an altar vnto the Lord, and offred burnt offrings, and peace offrings, and called vpon the Lord, and he answered him by fire from heauen vpon the altar of burnt offring.

27. యెహోవా దూతకు ఆజ్ఞాపింపగా అతడు తన కత్తిని మరల వరలో వేసెను.

27. And when the Lord had spoken to the Angel, he put vp his sworde againe into his sheath.

28. యెబూసీయుడైన ఒర్నాను కళ్లమందు యెహోవా తనకు ప్రత్యుత్తరమిచ్చెనని దావీదు తెలిసికొని అచ్చటనే బలి అర్పించెను

28. At that time when Dauid sawe that the Lord had heard him in the thresshing floore of Ornan the Iebusite, then he sacrificed there.

29. మోషే అరణ్యమందు చేయించిన యెహోవా నివాసపు గుడారమును దహనబలిపీఠమును ఆ కాలమందు గిబియోనులోని ఉన్నత స్థలమందుండెను.

29. (But the Tabernacle of the Lord which Moses had made in the wildernesse, and the altar of burnt offring were at that season in the hie place at Gibeon.

30. దావీదు యెహోవాదూత పట్టుకొనిన కత్తికి భయపడినవాడై దేవునియొద్ద విచారించుటకు ఆ స్థలమునకు వెళ్ల లేకుండెను.

30. And Dauid could not go before it to aske counsel at God: for he was afraide of the sworde of the Angel of the Lord.)
