1. రాజైన యరొబాము ఏలుబడిలో పదునెనిమిదవ సంవత్సరమందు అబీయా యూదావారిమీద ఏలనారం భించెను.

1. In the eighteenth year of King Jeroboam, Abijah began to reign over Judah.

2. అతడు మూడు సంవత్సరములు యెరూష లేమునందు ఏలెను; అతని తల్లిపేరు మీకాయా, ఆమె గిబియా ఊరివాడైన ఊరియేలు కుమార్తె.

2. He reigned three years in Jerusalem. And the name of his mother was Michaiah the daughter of Uriel, from Gibeah. And there was war between Abijah and Jeroboam.

3. అబీయాకును యరొబామునకును యుద్ధము కలుగగా అబీయా నాలుగు లక్షలమంది పరాక్రమ శాలుల సైన్యము ఏర్పరచుకొని యుద్ధమునకు సిద్ధముచేసెను; యరొబామును ఎనిమిది లక్షలమంది పరాక్రమశాలులను ఏర్పరచుకొని అతనికి ఎదురుగా వారిని యుద్ధమునకు వ్యూహపరచెను.

3. And Abijah joined the battle with an army of mighty men of war, four hundred thousand chosen men. And Jeroboam had set the battle in order with him, with eight hundred thousand chosen men, mighty men of valor.

4. అప్పుడు అబీయా ఎఫ్రాయిము మన్యమందుండు సెమరాయిము కొండమీద నిలిచి ప్రకటించినదేమనగాయరొబామా, ఇశ్రాయేలువారలారా, మీరందరును నాకు చెవియొగ్గుడి.

4. And Abijah stood up on Mount Zemaraim in the hills of Ephraim, and said, Hear me, Jeroboam and all Israel.

5. ఇశ్రాయేలు రాజ్యమును ఎల్లప్పుడును ఏలునట్లుగా ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల దేవుడైన యెహోవా దావీదుతోను అతని సంతతివారితోను భంగము కాజాలని నిబంధన చేసి దానిని వారికిచ్చెనని మీరు తెలిసికొందురు గదా.

5. Do you not know that Jehovah the God of Israel has given the kingdom to David over Israel forever, to him and to his sons, a covenant of salt?

6. అయినను దావీదు కుమారుడైన సొలొమోనుకు దాసుడును నెబాతు కుమారుడునగు యరొబాము పనికి మాలిన దుష్టులతో కలిసి లేచి తన యజమానునిమీద తిరుగుబాటు చేసెను.

6. And Jeroboam the son of Nebat, the servant of Solomon, the son of David has risen up and rebelled against his lord.

7. సొలొమోను కుమారుడైన రెహబాము ఇంకను బాల్యదశలోనుండి ధైర్యము లేనివాడై వారిని ఎదిరించుటకు తగిన శక్తిలేకున్నప్పుడు వారు అతనితో యుద్ధము చేయుటకు సిద్ధమైరి.

7. And vain men gathered to him, sons of worthlessness, and they made themselves strong against Rehoboam the son of Solomon; and Rehoboam was a youth and tender of heart, and could not be strong against them.

8. ఇప్పుడు దావీదు సంతతి వారి వశముననున్న యెహోవా రాజ్యముతో మీరు యుద్ధముచేయ తెగించెదమని తలంచుచున్నారు. మీరు గొప్ప సైన్యముగా ఉన్నారు; యరొబాము మీకు దేవతలుగా చేయించిన బంగారు దూడలును మీయొద్ద ఉన్నవి.

8. And now you think to be strong against the kingdom of Jehovah in the hand of the sons of David. And you are a great host; yea, with you are calves of gold that Jeroboam has made as gods to you.

9. మీరు అహరోను సంతతివారైన యెహోవా యాజకులను, లేవీయులను త్రోసివేసి, అన్యదేశముల జనులు చేయునట్లు మీకొరకు యాజకులను నియమించు కొంటిరిగదా? ఒక కోడెతోను ఏడు గొఱ్ఱె పొట్టేళ్లతోను తన్ను ప్రతిష్ఠించుటకైవచ్చు ప్రతివాడు, దైవములు కాని వాటికి యాజకుడగుచున్నాడు.

9. Have you not thrown out the priests of Jehovah, the sons of Aaron, and the Levites, and have made priests to yourselves like the peoples of the lands? Whoever comes to consecrate himself with a bull, a son of the herd, and seven rams, even he becomes a priest to no gods.

10. అయితే యెహోవా మాకు దేవుడైయున్నాడు; మేము ఆయనను విసర్జించిన వారము కాము; అహరోను సంతతివారు యెహోవాకు సేవచేయు యాజకులై యున్నారు; లేవీయులు చేయవలసిన పనులను లేవీయులే చేయుచున్నారు.

10. As for us, Jehovah is our God, and we have not forsaken Him; yea, priests are serving Jehovah, the sons of Aaron and the Levites, in the work,

11. వారు ఉదయాస్తమయములయందు యెహోవాకు దహనబలులు అర్పించుచు, సుగంధద్రవ్యములతో ధూపము వేయుచు, పవిత్రమైన బల్లమీద సన్నిధిరొట్టెలు ఉంచుచు, బంగారు దీపస్తంభమును ప్రమిదెలను ప్రతి సాయంత్రము ముట్టించుచు వచ్చుచున్నారు; మేము మా దేవుడైన యెహోవా యేర్పరచిన విధినిబట్టి సమస్తము జరిగించుచున్నాము గాని మీరు ఆయనను విసర్జించిన వారైతిరి.

11. and are offering to Jehovah burnt offerings morning by morning, and evening by evening, and sweet incense, and the Bread of Arrangement on the pure table, and the golden lampstand and its lamps, to burn evening by evening. For we are keeping the charge of Jehovah our God. And surely you have forsaken Him.

12. ఆలోచించుడి, దేవుడే మాకు తోడై మాకు అధిపతిగానున్నాడు, మీ మీద ఆర్భాటము చేయుటకై బూరలు పట్టుకొని ఊదునట్టి ఆయన యాజకులు మా పక్షమున ఉన్నారు; ఇశ్రాయేలువారలారా, మీ పితరుల దేవుడైన యెహోవాతో యుద్ధముచేయకుడి, చేసినను మీరు జయమొందరు.

12. And, behold, God is with us at our head, and His priests, and the trumpets, the signal to sound for battle against you. O sons of Israel, do not fight with Jehovah, the God of your fathers, for you shall not prosper.

13. యరొబాము వారి వెనుకటి భాగమందు మాటు గాండ్రను కొందరిని ఉంచి, సైన్యము యూదావారికి ముందును మాటుగాండ్ర వారికి వెనుకను ఉండునట్లు చేసెను.

13. But Jeroboam had made the ambush circle to come in behind them, and they were before Judah, and the ambush was behind them.

14. యూదావారు తిరిగి చూచి యోధులు తమకు ముందును వెనుకను ఉన్నట్టు తెలిసికొని యెహోవాకు ప్రార్థన చేసిరి, యాజకులును బూరలు ఊదిరి.

14. And Judah turned. And, behold, the battle was against them before and behind. And they cried to Jehovah, and the priests were blowing with trumpets.

15. అప్పుడు యూదావారు ఆర్భటించిరి; యూదావారు ఆర్భటించి నప్పుడు యరొబామును ఇశ్రాయేలువారందరును అబీయా యెదుటను యూదావారి యెదుటను నిలువలేకుండునట్లు దేవుడు వారిని మొత్తినందున

15. And the men of Judah shouted. And it was, at the shouting of the men of Judah, God struck Jeroboam and all Israel before Abijah and Judah.

16. ఇశ్రాయేలువారు యూదా వారి యెదుటనుండి పారిపోయిరి. దేవుడు వారిని యూదా వారిచేతికి అప్పగించినందున

16. And the sons of Israel fled from the face of Judah, and God gave them into their hand.

17. అబీయాయును అతని జనులును వారిని ఘోరముగా సంహరించిరి. ఇశ్రా యేలు వారిలో అయిదు లక్షలమంది పరాక్రమశాలులు హతులైరి.

17. And Abijah and his people struck them with a great blow, and five hundred thousand chosen men of Israel fell slain.

18. ఈ ప్రకారము ఇశ్రాయేలువారు ఆ కాలమందు తగ్గింపబడిరి గాని యూదావారు తమ పితరుల దేవుడైన యెహోవాను ఆశ్రయించిన హేతువుచేత జయ మొందిరి.

18. And the sons of Israel were humbled at that time, and the sons of Judah were strong. For they leaned on Jehovah the God of their fathers.

19. అబీయా యరొబామును తరిమి, బేతేలును దాని గ్రామములను యెషానాను దాని గ్రామములను ఎఫ్రోనును దాని గ్రామములను పట్టుకొనెను.

19. And Abijah pursued Jeroboam and captured cities from him: Bethel and its villages, and Jeshanah and its villages, and Ephrain and its villages.

20. అబీయా బ్రదికిన కాలమున యరొబాము మరల బలము పొందలేదు, యెహోవా అతని మొత్తినందుచేత అతడు మరణ మొందెను.

20. And Jeroboam did not regain power any more in Abijah's days. And Jehovah struck him, and he died.

21. అబీయా వృద్ధినొందెను, అతడు పదునాలుగు మంది భార్యలను వివా హము చేసికొని యిరువది యిద్దరు కుమారులను పదునారుగురు కుమార్తెలను కనెను.

21. And Abijah became mighty, and he took fourteen wives to himself. And he fathered twenty two sons and sixteen daughters.

22. అబీయా చేసిన యితర కార్యములను గూర్చియు, అతని చర్యను గూర్చియు, అతని కాలమున జరిగిన సంగతులను గూర్చియు ప్రవక్తయైన ఇద్దో రచించిన సటీక గ్రంథమునందు వ్రాయబడియున్నది.

22. And the rest of the acts of Abijah, and his ways, and his words, are written in the inquiry of the prophet Iddo.
