1. తరువాత అతనికి బదులుగా అతని కుమారుడైన యెహోషాపాతు రాజై ఇశ్రాయేలు తన మీదికి రాకుండతన రాజ్యమును బలపరచుకొనెను.

1. His son Jehoshaphat replaced him as king and solidified his rule over Israel.

2. అతడు యూదా దేశములోని ప్రాకార పురములన్నిటియందును సైన్యములను ఉంచి, యూదా దేశమందును తన తండ్రియైన ఆసా పట్టుకొనిన ఎఫ్రాయిము పట్టణములయందును కావలి బలములను ఉంచెను.

2. He placed troops in all of Judah's fortified cities and posted garrisons throughout the land of Judah and in the cities of Ephraim that his father Asa had seized.

3. యెహోవా అతనికి సహాయుడై యుండగా యెహోషాపాతు తన తండ్రియైన దావీదు ప్రారంభదినములలో నడచిన మార్గమందు నడచుచు

3. The LORD was with Jehoshaphat because he followed in his ancestor David's footsteps at the beginning of his reign. He did not seek the Baals,

4. బయలు దేవతను ఆశ్రయింపక తన తండ్రి దేవుని ఆశ్ర యించుచు, ఇశ్రాయేలువారి చర్యలను వెంబడింపక ఆయన ఆజ్ఞలననుసరించి నడిచెను.

4. but instead sought the God of his ancestors and obeyed his commands, unlike the Israelites.

5. కాబట్టి యెహోవా అతనిచేత రాజ్యమును స్థిరపరచెను, యూదావారందరును యెహోషాపాతునకు పన్ను ఇచ్చుచుండిరి, అతనికి ఐశ్వ ర్యమును ఘనతయు మెండుగా కలిగెను.

5. The LORD made his kingdom secure; all Judah brought tribute to Jehoshaphat, and he became very wealthy and greatly respected.

6. యెహోవా మార్గములయందు నడుచుకొనుటకు అతడు తన మనస్సును దృఢపరచుకొనినవాడై ఉన్నత స్థలములను దేవతాస్తంభములను యూదాలోనుండి తీసివేసెను.

6. He was committed to following the LORD; he even removed the high places and Asherah poles from Judah.

7. తన యేలుబడియందు మూడవ సంవత్సరమున యూదా పట్టణములలో జనులకు ధర్మశాస్త్రమును బోధించుటకై అతడు పెద్దలైన బెన్హయీలును ఓబద్యాను జెకర్యాను నెతనేలును మీకాయాను

7. In the third year of his reign he sent his officials Ben-Hail, Obadiah, Zechariah, Nethanel, and Micaiah to teach in the cities of Judah.

8. షెమయా నెతన్యా జెబద్యా అశాహేలు షెమిరామోతు యెహోనాతాను అదోనీయా టోబీయా టోబదోనీయా అను లేవీయులను, యాజకులైన ఎలీషామాను యెహోరామును బంపెను.

8. They were accompanied by the Levites Shemaiah, Nethaniah, Zebadiah, Asahel, Shemiramoth, Jehonathan, Adonijah, Tobijah, and Tob-Adonijah, and by the priests Elishama and Jehoram.

9. వారు యెహోవా ధర్మశాస్త్రగ్రంథమును చేత పుచ్చుకొని యూదావారిమధ్య ప్రకటనచేయుచు, యూదా పట్టణములన్నిటను సంచరించుచు జనులకు బోధించిరి.

9. They taught throughout Judah, taking with them the scroll of the law of the LORD. They traveled to all the cities of Judah and taught the people.

10. యూదా దేశము చుట్టు ఉండు దేశముల రాజ్యములన్నిటి మీదికియెహోవా భయము వచ్చినందున వారు యెహోషా పాతుతో యుద్ధము చేయకుండిరి.

10. The LORD put fear into all the kingdoms surrounding Judah; they did not make war with Jehoshaphat.

11. ఫిలిష్తీయులలో కొందరు యెహోషాపాతునకు పన్నును కానుకలను ఇచ్చుచు వచ్చిరి; అరబీయులును అతనికి ఏడు వేల ఏడు వందల గొఱ్ఱె పొట్టేళ్లను ఏడు వేల ఏడు వందల మేక పోతులను తెచ్చుచు వచ్చిరి.

11. Some of the Philistines brought Jehoshaphat tribute, including a load of silver. The Arabs brought him 7,700 rams and 7,700 goats from their flocks.

12. యెహోషాపాతు అంతకంతకు గొప్పవాడై యూదా దేశమునందు కోటలను సామగ్రిని నిలువచేయు పట్టణములను కట్టించెను.

12. Jehoshaphat's power kept increasing. He built fortresses and storage cities throughout Judah.

13. యూదాదేశపు పట్టణములలో అతనికి బహు ధనము సమకూర్చబడెను. అతని క్రింది పరా క్రమశాలులు యెరూషలేములో కూడియుండిరి.

13. He had many supplies stored in the cities of Judah and an army of skilled warriors stationed in Jerusalem.

14. వీరి పితరుల వంశములచొప్పున వీరి సంఖ్య యెంతనగా, యూదాలో సహస్రాధిపతులైన వారికి ప్రధానుడగు అద్నాయొద్ద మూడు లక్షలమంది పరాక్రమశాలులుండిరి.

14. These were their divisions by families: There were a thousand officers from Judah. Adnah the commander led 300,000 skilled warriors,

15. రెండవవాడగు యెహోహానాను అను అధిపతియొద్ద రెండు లక్షల ఎనుబదివేలమంది యుండిరి.

15. Jehochanan the commander led 280,000,

16. మూడవవాడు జిఖ్రీ కుమారుడై యెహోవాకు తన్నుతాను మనఃపూర్వకముగా సమర్పించుకొనిన అమస్యా; అతనియొద్ద రెండు లక్షలమంది పరాక్రమశాలులుండిరి.

16. and Amasiah son of Zikri, who volunteered to serve the LORD, led 200,000 skilled warriors.

17. బెన్యామీనీయులలో ఎల్యాదా అను పరాక్రమశాలి యొకడుండెను; వీనియొద్ద వింటిని కేడెమును పట్టుకొనువారు రెండు లక్షలమంది యుండిరి.

17. From Benjamin, Eliada, a skilled warrior, led 200,000 men who were equipped with bows and shields,

18. రెండవవాడు యెహోజాబాదు; వీనియొద్ద లక్షయెనుబదివేలమంది యుద్ధసన్నద్ధులుండిరి.

18. and Jehozabad led 180,000 trained warriors.

19. రాజు యూదాయందంతటనుండు ప్రాకారపురములలో ఉంచినవారు గాక వీరు రాజుయొక్క పరివారములో చేరినవారై యుండిరి.

19. These were the ones who served the king, besides those whom the king placed in the fortified cities throughout Judah.
