1. తరువాత అతనికి బదులుగా అతని కుమారుడైన యెహోషాపాతు రాజై ఇశ్రాయేలు తన మీదికి రాకుండతన రాజ్యమును బలపరచుకొనెను.

1. Asa's son Jehoshaphat was the next king; he started out by working on his defense system against Israel.

2. అతడు యూదా దేశములోని ప్రాకార పురములన్నిటియందును సైన్యములను ఉంచి, యూదా దేశమందును తన తండ్రియైన ఆసా పట్టుకొనిన ఎఫ్రాయిము పట్టణములయందును కావలి బలములను ఉంచెను.

2. He put troops in all the fortress cities of Judah and deployed garrisons throughout Judah and in the towns of Ephraim that his father Asa had captured.

3. యెహోవా అతనికి సహాయుడై యుండగా యెహోషాపాతు తన తండ్రియైన దావీదు ప్రారంభదినములలో నడచిన మార్గమందు నడచుచు

3. GOD was on Jehoshaphat's side because he stuck to the ways of his father Asa's early years. He didn't fool around with the popular Baal religion--

4. బయలు దేవతను ఆశ్రయింపక తన తండ్రి దేవుని ఆశ్ర యించుచు, ఇశ్రాయేలువారి చర్యలను వెంబడింపక ఆయన ఆజ్ఞలననుసరించి నడిచెను.

4. he was a seeker and follower of the God of his father and was obedient to him; he wasn't like Israel.

5. కాబట్టి యెహోవా అతనిచేత రాజ్యమును స్థిరపరచెను, యూదావారందరును యెహోషాపాతునకు పన్ను ఇచ్చుచుండిరి, అతనికి ఐశ్వ ర్యమును ఘనతయు మెండుగా కలిగెను.

5. And GOD secured the kingdom under his rule, gave him a firm grip on it. And everyone in Judah showed their appreciation by bringing gifts. Jehoshaphat ended up very rich and much honored.

6. యెహోవా మార్గములయందు నడుచుకొనుటకు అతడు తన మనస్సును దృఢపరచుకొనినవాడై ఉన్నత స్థలములను దేవతాస్తంభములను యూదాలోనుండి తీసివేసెను.

6. He was single-minded in following GOD; and he got rid of the local sex-and-religion shrines.

7. తన యేలుబడియందు మూడవ సంవత్సరమున యూదా పట్టణములలో జనులకు ధర్మశాస్త్రమును బోధించుటకై అతడు పెద్దలైన బెన్హయీలును ఓబద్యాను జెకర్యాను నెతనేలును మీకాయాను

7. In the third year of his reign he sent his officials--excellent men, every one of them--Ben-Hail, Obadiah, Zechariah, Nethanel, and Micaiah on a teaching mission to the cities of Judah.

8. షెమయా నెతన్యా జెబద్యా అశాహేలు షెమిరామోతు యెహోనాతాను అదోనీయా టోబీయా టోబదోనీయా అను లేవీయులను, యాజకులైన ఎలీషామాను యెహోరామును బంపెను.

8. They were accompanied by Levites--Shemaiah, Nethaniah, Zebadiah, Asahel, Shemiramoth, Jehonathan, Adonijah, Tobijah, and Tob-Adonijah; the priests Elishama and Jehoram were also in the company.

9. వారు యెహోవా ధర్మశాస్త్రగ్రంథమును చేత పుచ్చుకొని యూదావారిమధ్య ప్రకటనచేయుచు, యూదా పట్టణములన్నిటను సంచరించుచు జనులకు బోధించిరి.

9. They made a circuit of the towns of Judah, teaching the people and using the Book of The Revelation of GOD as their text.

10. యూదా దేశము చుట్టు ఉండు దేశముల రాజ్యములన్నిటి మీదికియెహోవా భయము వచ్చినందున వారు యెహోషా పాతుతో యుద్ధము చేయకుండిరి.

10. There was a strong sense of the fear of GOD in all the kingdoms around Judah--they didn't dare go to war against Jehoshaphat.

11. ఫిలిష్తీయులలో కొందరు యెహోషాపాతునకు పన్నును కానుకలను ఇచ్చుచు వచ్చిరి; అరబీయులును అతనికి ఏడు వేల ఏడు వందల గొఱ్ఱె పొట్టేళ్లను ఏడు వేల ఏడు వందల మేక పోతులను తెచ్చుచు వచ్చిరి.

11. Some Philistines even brought gifts and a load of silver to Jehoshaphat, and the desert bedouin brought flocks--7,700 rams and 7,700 goats.

12. యెహోషాపాతు అంతకంతకు గొప్పవాడై యూదా దేశమునందు కోటలను సామగ్రిని నిలువచేయు పట్టణములను కట్టించెను.

12. So Jehoshaphat became stronger by the day, and constructed more and more forts and store-cities--an age of prosperity for Judah!

13. యూదాదేశపు పట్టణములలో అతనికి బహు ధనము సమకూర్చబడెను. అతని క్రింది పరా క్రమశాలులు యెరూషలేములో కూడియుండిరి.

13. He also had excellent fighting men stationed in Jerusalem.

14. వీరి పితరుల వంశములచొప్పున వీరి సంఖ్య యెంతనగా, యూదాలో సహస్రాధిపతులైన వారికి ప్రధానుడగు అద్నాయొద్ద మూడు లక్షలమంది పరాక్రమశాలులుండిరి.

14. The captains of the military units of Judah, classified according to families, were: Captain Adnah with 300,000 soldiers;

15. రెండవవాడగు యెహోహానాను అను అధిపతియొద్ద రెండు లక్షల ఎనుబదివేలమంది యుండిరి.

15. his associate Captain Jehohanan with 280,000;

16. మూడవవాడు జిఖ్రీ కుమారుడై యెహోవాకు తన్నుతాను మనఃపూర్వకముగా సమర్పించుకొనిన అమస్యా; అతనియొద్ద రెండు లక్షలమంది పరాక్రమశాలులుండిరి.

16. his associate Amasiah son of Zicri, a volunteer for GOD, with 200,000.

17. బెన్యామీనీయులలో ఎల్యాదా అను పరాక్రమశాలి యొకడుండెను; వీనియొద్ద వింటిని కేడెమును పట్టుకొనువారు రెండు లక్షలమంది యుండిరి.

17. Officer Eliada represented Benjamin with 200,000 fully equipped with bow and shield;

18. రెండవవాడు యెహోజాబాదు; వీనియొద్ద లక్షయెనుబదివేలమంది యుద్ధసన్నద్ధులుండిరి.

18. and his associate was Jehozabad with 180,000 armed and ready for battle.

19. రాజు యూదాయందంతటనుండు ప్రాకారపురములలో ఉంచినవారు గాక వీరు రాజుయొక్క పరివారములో చేరినవారై యుండిరి.

19. These were under the direct command of the king; in addition there were the troops assigned to the fortress cities spread all over Judah.
