1. యోవాషు ఏలనారంభించినప్పుడు ఏడు సంవత్స రముల యీడుగలవాడై యెరూషలేములో నలువది ఏండ్లు ఏలెను; అతని తల్లి బెయేర్షెబా కాపురస్థురాలైన జిబ్యా.

1. Joash was seven years old when he became king. And he ruled forty years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Zibiah of Beersheba.

2. యాజకుడైన యెహోయాదా బ్రదికిన దినములన్నియు యోవాషు యెహోవా దృష్టికి యథార్థముగా ప్రవర్తించెను.

2. Joash did what was right in the eyes of the Lord all the days of Jehoiada the religious leader.

3. యెహోయాదా అతనికి యిద్దరు భార్యలను పెండ్లి చేసెను; అతడు కుమారులను కుమార్తెలను కనెను.

3. Jehoiada took two wives for him, and he became the father of sons and daughters.

4. అంతట యెహోవా మందిరమును బాగుచేయవలెనని యోవాషునకు తాత్పర్యము పుట్టెను గనుక

4. After this Joash decided to do the work that was needed on the Lord's house.

5. He gathered the religious leaders and Levites, and said to them, 'Go out to the cities of Judah. And gather money from all Israel to pay for the work needed to be done on the house of your God from year to year. Be quick about it.' But the Levites did not hurry.

6. రాజు ప్రధానయాజకుడగు యెహోయాదాను పిలిచిఆ దుర్మార్గురాలైన అతల్యాకుమారులు దేవుని మందిర మును పాడుచేసి, యెహోవా మందిర సంబంధమైన ప్రతిష్ఠోపకరణముల నన్నిటిని బయలుదేవతపూజకు ఉప యోగించిరి.

6. So the king called for Jehoiada the head religious leader, and said to him, 'Why have you not made the Levites bring in from Judah and Jerusalem the tax set by Moses the Lord's servant? All the people of Israel were to pay taxes for the tent of the Law.'

7. సాక్ష్యపు గుడారమును బాగుచేయుటకైయూదాలో నుండియు యెరూషలేములోనుండియు ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల సమాజకులచేత యెహోవా సేవకుడైన మోషే నిర్ణయించిన కానుకను లేవీయులతో నీ వెందుకు చెప్పి తెప్పించలేదని యడిగెను.

7. For the sons of that sinful woman Athaliah had broken into the house of God. They even used the holy things of the Lord's house for the false gods of Baal.

8. కాబట్టి రాజు ఆజ్ఞ చొప్పున వారు ఒక పెట్టెను చేయించి యెహోవా మందిరద్వారము బయట ఉంచిరి.

8. So the king had them make a box and set it outside by the gate of the Lord's house.

9. మరియు దేవుని సేవకుడైన మోషే అరణ్యమందు ఇశ్రాయేలీయులకు నిర్ణ యించిన కానుకను యెహోవాయొద్దకు జనులు తేవలెనని యూదాలోను యెరూషలేములోను వారు చాటించిరి.

9. And they made it known in Judah and Jerusalem that the tax set by God's servant Moses on Israel in the desert must be brought to the Lord.

10. కాగా అధిపతులందరును జనులందరును సంతోషముగా కానుకలను తీసికొని వచ్చి చాలినంతమట్టుకు పెట్టెలో వేసిరి.

10. Then all the leaders and all the people were filled with joy. They brought in their taxes and put the money into the box until they had finished.

11. లేవీయులు ఆ పెట్టెను రాజు విమర్శించు స్థలము నకు తెచ్చుచు వచ్చిరి; అందులో ద్రవ్యము విస్తారముగా నున్నట్టు కనబడినప్పుడెల్ల, రాజుయొక్క ప్రధాన మంత్రియు ప్రధాన యాజకుడు నియమించిన పై విచా రణకర్తయు వచ్చి, పెట్టెలోనున్న ద్రవ్యమును తీసి యథా స్థానమందు దానిని ఉంచుచు వచ్చిరి; వారీచొప్పున పలు మారు చేయుటచేత విస్తారమైన ద్రవ్యము సమకూర్చబడెను.

11. The Levites would bring the box in to the king's helper. And when they saw that there was much money, the king's writer and the head religious leader's helper would come and empty the box. They would take out the money and return the box to its place. They did this each day, and gathered much money.

12. అప్పుడు రాజును యెహోయాదాయును యెహోవా మందిరపు పనిచేయువారికి దానినిచ్చి, యెహోవా మందిరమును బాగుచేయుటకై కాసెవారిని వడ్లవారిని, యెహోవా మందిరమును బలపరచుటకు ఇనుపపని యిత్తడిపని చేయువారిని కూలికి కుదిర్చిరి.

12. The king and Jehoiada gave it to those who watched over the work being done on the Lord's house. They paid those who worked with stone and wood and iron and brass, for the work done on the Lord's house.

13. ఈలాగున పనివారు పని జరిగించి సంపూర్తి చేసిరి. వారు దేవుని మందిరమును దాని యథాస్థితికి తెచ్చి దాని బలపరచిరి.

13. So the workmen worked hard doing what needed to be done. The house of God was like new again, just as it was planned. They made it strong.

14. అది సిద్ధమైన తరువాత మిగిలిన ద్రవ్యమును రాజునొద్దకును యెహోయాదా యొద్దకును తీసికొనిరాగా వారు దాని చేత యెహోవా మందిరపు సేవయందు ఉపయోగపడు నట్లును, దహనబలుల నర్పించుటయందు ఉపయోగపడు నట్లును, ఉపకరణములను గరిటెలను వెండి బంగారముల ఉపకరణములను చేయించిరి. యెహోయాదాయున్న యన్నిదినములు యెహోవా మందిరములో దహనబలులు నిత్యమును అర్పింపబడెను.

14. When they had finished, they brought the rest of the money to the king and Jehoiada. From it were made the objects used in the Lord's house. These things were made for the worship and the burnt gifts. Then dishes and pots of gold and silver were made. And they gave burnt gifts in the house of the Lord all the time, all the days of Jehoiada.

15. యెహోయాదా దినములు గడచిన వృద్ధుడై చని పోయెను; అతడు చనిపోయినప్పుడు నూట ముప్పది ఏండ్ల వాడు.

15. When Jehoiada had lived a long time, he died. He died when he was 130 years old.

16. They buried him in the city of David among the kings, because he had done well in Israel, and to God and His house.

17. యెహోయాదాచని పోయిన తరువాత యూదా అధిపతులు వచ్చి రాజునకు నమస్కరింపగా రాజు వారి మాటకు సమ్మతించెను.

17. But after the death of Jehoiada, the leaders of Judah came and bowed down in front of the king. And the king listened to them.

18. జనులు తమ పితరుల దేవుడైన యెహోవా మందిరమును విడచి, దేవతాస్తంభములకును విగ్రహములకును పూజచేసిరి; వారు, చేసిన యీ యప రాధము నిమిత్తము యూదావారిమీదికిని యెరూషలేము కాపురస్థులమీదికిని కోపము వచ్చెను.

18. They left the house of the Lord the God of their fathers, and worshiped the false gods of Asherah and the objects made to look like them. So anger came upon Judah and Jerusalem because of their sin.

19. తన వైపునకు వారిని మళ్లించుటకై యెహోవా వారియొద్దకు ప్రవక్త లను పంపగా ఆ ప్రవక్తలు వారిమీద సాక్ష్యము పలికిరిగాని వారు చెవియొగ్గక యుండిరి.

19. Yet God sent men who speak for God to bring them back to the Lord. These men of God spoke against them, but they would not listen.

20. అప్పుడు దేవుని ఆత్మ యాజకుడగు యెహోయాదా కుమారుడైన జెకర్యామీదికి రాగా అతడు జనులయెదుట నిలువబడిమీరెందుకు యెహోవా ఆజ్ఞలను మీరుచున్నారు? మీరు వర్ధిల్లరు; మీరు యెహోవాను విసర్జించితిరి గనుక ఆయన మిమ్మును విసర్జించియున్నాడని దేవుడు సెలవిచ్చుచున్నాడు అనెను.

20. Then the Spirit of God came upon Zechariah the son of Jehoiada the religious leader. He stood where he could be seen by the people and said to them, 'God says, 'Why do you sin against the Laws of the Lord, and bring trouble on yourselves? Because you have left the Lord, He has left you.' '

21. So they made plans against him. At the king's word, they killed Zechariah with stones in the open space of the Lord's house.

22. ఈ ప్రకారము రాజైన యోవాషు జెకర్యా తండ్రియైన యెహోయాదా తనకు చేసిన ఉప కారమును మరచినవాడై అతని కుమారుని చంపించెను; అతడు చనిపోవునప్పుడుయెహోవా దీని దృష్టించి దీనిని విచారణలోనికి తెచ్చునుగాక యనెను.

22. So Joash the king did not remember the kindness his father Jehoiada had shown him, but he killed his son. And when Zechariah was dying, he said, 'May the Lord see and punish!'

23. ఆ సంవత్సరాంతమందు సిరియా సైన్యము యోవాషు మీదికి వచ్చెను; వారు యూదాదేశముమీదికిని యెరూష లేముమీదికిని వచ్చి, శేషములేకుండ జనుల అధిపతులనందరిని హతముచేసి, తాము పట్టుకొనిన కొల్లసొమ్మంతయు దమస్కు రాజునొద్దకు పంపిరి.

23. At the end of the year the army of the Syrians came up against Joash. They came to Judah and Jerusalem, and destroyed all the leaders of the people. And they sent all they had taken in battle to the king of Damascus.

24. సిరియనులు చిన్నదండుతో వచ్చినను యూదావారు తమ పితరుల దేవుడైన యెహోవాను విసర్జించినందుకై యెహోవా వారి చేతికి అతివిస్తార మైన ఆ సైన్యమును అప్పగింపగా యోవాషుకు శిక్ష కలిగెను.

24. The army of the Syrians came with a small number of men. But the Lord let them win against a very large army. Because the people of Judah and Jerusalem had turned away from the Lord, the God of their fathers. So the Syrians were used to punish Joash.

25. వారు యోవాషును విడచిపోయినప్పుడు అతడు మిక్కిలి రోగియై యుండెను. అప్పుడు యాజకుడైన యెహోయాదా కుమారుల ప్రాణహత్యదోషము నిమిత్తము అతని సేవకులు అతనిమీద కుట్రచేసి, అతడు పడకమీద ఉండగా అతని చంపిరి. అతడు చనిపోయిన తరు వాత జనులు దావీదు పట్టణమందు అతని పాతి పెట్టిరి గాని రాజుల సమాధులలో అతని పాతిపెట్టలేదు.

25. When they had left Joash, leaving him very sick, his own servants made plans against him because of the blood of the son of Jehoiada the religious leader. And they killed him on his bed. So he died, and they buried him in the city of David. But they did not bury him in the graves of the kings.

26. అతనిమీద కుట్రచేసినవారు అమ్మోనీయురాలైన షిమాతు కుమారుడగు జాబాదు, మోయాబురాలైన షిమీతు కుమారుడగు యెహోజాబాదు అనువారు.

26. The men who made plans against Joash were Zabad the son of Shimeath the Ammonitess, and Jehozabad the son of Shimrith the Moabitess.

27. అతని కుమారులను గూర్చియు, అతనిమీద చెప్పబడిన అనేకమైన దేవోక్తులను గూర్చియు, అతడు దేవుని మందిరమును బాగుచేయు టను గూర్చియు రాజుల సటీక గ్రంథములో వ్రాయబడి యున్నది. అతనికి బదులుగా అతని కుమారుడైన అమజ్యా రాజాయెను.

27. Now the story of his sons, and the words spoken by wise men against him, and the work done on the house of God, are written in the Book of the Kings. His son Amaziah became king in his place.
