1. అమజ్యా యేలనారంభించినప్పుడు ఇరువది యయి దేండ్లవాడై యిరువది తొమ్మిది సంవత్సరములు యెరూష లేములో ఏలెను; అతని తల్లి యెరూషలేము కాపురస్థురాలు, ఆమె పేరు యెహో యద్దాను.

1. Amaziah was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned twenty-nine years in Jerusalem. His mother, named Jehoaddan, was from Jerusalem.

2. అతడు యెహోవా దృష్టికి యథార్థముగా ప్రవర్తించెనుగాని పూర్ణహృదయముతో ఆయనను అనుసరింపలేదు.

2. He did what was pleasing in the sight of the LORD, though not wholeheartedly.

3. రాజ్యము తనకు స్థిర మైనప్పుడు అతడు రాజైన తన తండ్రిని చంపిన రాజసేవకు లను చంపించెను.

3. After he had strengthened his hold on the kingdom, he slew those of his servants who had killed the king, his father;

4. అయితేతండ్రులు పిల్లలకొరకును పిల్లలు తండ్రులకొరకును చావకూడదు, ప్రతి మనిషి తన పాపముకొరకు తానే చావవలెనని మోషే గ్రంథ మందలి ధర్మశాస్త్రమునందు వ్రాయబడియున్న యెహోవా ఆజ్ఞనుబట్టి అతడు వారి పిల్లలను చంపక మానెను.

4. but he did not put their children to death, for he acted according to what is written in the law, in the Book of Moses, as the LORD commanded: 'Fathers shall not be put to death for their children, nor children for their fathers; but only for his own guilt shall a man be put to death.'

5. అమజ్యా యూదావారినందరిని సమకూర్చి యూదా దేశమంతటను బెన్యామీనీయుల దేశమంతటను వారివారి పితరుల యిండ్లనుబట్టి సహస్రాధిపతులను శతాధిపతులను నియమించెను. అతడు ఇరువది సంవత్సరములు మొదలుకొని అంతకు పై ప్రాయముగల వారిని లెక్కింపగా, ఈటెను డాళ్లను పట్టుకొని యుద్ధమునకు పోదగినట్టి యోధులు మూడులక్షలమంది కనబడిరి.

5. Amaziah mustered Judah and placed them, out of all Judah and Benjamin according to their ancestral houses, under leaders of thousands and of hundreds. When he had counted those of twenty years and over, he found them to be three hundred thousand picked men fit for war, capable of handling lance and shield.

6. మరియు అతడు ఇశ్రాయేలువారిలోనుండి లక్షమంది పరాక్రమశాలులను రెండువందల మణుగుల వెండికి కుదిర్చెను.

6. He also hired a hundred thousand valiant warriors from Israel for a hundred talents of silver.

7. దైవజనుడైన యొకడు అతనియొద్దకు వచ్చిరాజా, ఇశ్రాయేలువారి సైన్యమును నీతోకూడ తీసికొనిపోవద్దు, యెహోవా ఇశ్రాయేలువారగు ఎఫ్రాయిమీయులలో ఎవరికిని తోడుగా ఉండడు.

7. But a man of God came to him and said: 'O king, let not the army of Israel go with you, for the LORD is not with Israel, with any Ephraimite.

8. ఆలాగు పోవలెనని నీకున్నయెడల పొమ్ము, యుద్ధము బలముగా చేసినను దేవుడు నీ శత్రువు ఎదుట నిన్ను కూల్చును; నిలువబెట్టుటయు పడవేయుటయు దేవునివశమేగదా అని ప్రకటింపగా

8. Instead, go on your own, strongly prepared for the conflict; otherwise the LORD will defeat you in the face of the enemy. It is God who has the power to reinforce or to defeat.'

9. అమజ్యా దైవజనుని చూచిఇశ్రాయేలువారి సైన్యమునకు నేనిచ్చిన రెండువందల మణుగుల వెండికి ఏమి చేసెదమని అడిగి నందుకుదీనికంటె మరి యధికముగా యెహోవా నీకు ఇయ్యగలడని ఆ దైవజనుడు ప్రత్యుత్తరమిచ్చెను.

9. Amaziah answered the man of God, 'But what is to be done about the hundred talents that I paid for the troops of Israel?' The man of God replied, 'The LORD can give you much more than that.'

10. అప్పుడు అమజ్యా ఎఫ్రాయిములోనుండి తనయొద్దకు వచ్చిన సైన్యమును వేరుపరచిమీ యిండ్లకు తిరిగి వెళ్లుడని వారికి సెలవిచ్చెను; అందుకు వారి కోపము యూదా వారి మీద బహుగా రగులుకొనెను, వారు ఉగ్రులై తమ యిండ్లకు తిరిగి పోయిరి.

10. Amaziah then disbanded the troops that had come to him from Ephraim, and sent them home. They, however, became furiously angry with Judah, and returned home blazing with resentment.

11. అంతట అమజ్యా ధైర్యము తెచ్చుకొని తన జనులతో కూడ బయలుదేరి ఉప్పుపల్లపు స్థలమునకు పోయి శేయీరువారిలో పదివేలమందిని హతము చేసెను.

11. Amaziah now assumed command of his army. They proceeded to the Valley of Salt, and there they killed ten thousand men of Seir.

12. ప్రాణముతోనున్న మరి పదివేలమందిని యూదావారు చెరపట్టుకొని, వారిని ఒక పేటుమీదికి తీసికొనిపోయి ఆ పేటుమీదనుండి వారిని పడవేయగా వారు తుత్తునియలైపోయిరి.

12. The Judahites also brought back another ten thousand alive, whom they led to the summit of the Rock and then cast down, so that they were all crushed.

13. అయితే తనతోకూడ యుద్ధమునకు రావద్దని అమజ్యా తిరిగి పంపివేసిన సైనికులు షోమ్రోను మొదలుకొని బేత్‌హోరోనువరకు ఉన్న యూదాపట్టణములమీద పడివారిలో మూడు వేలమందిని హతముచేసి విస్తార మైన కొల్లసొమ్ము పట్టుకొని పోయిరి.

13. Meanwhile, the mercenaries whom Amaziah had dismissed from battle service with him raided the cities of Judah from Samaria to Beth-horon. They killed three thousand of the inhabitants and took away much booty.

14. అమజ్యా ఎదోమీయులను ఓడించి తిరిగి వచ్చిన తరువాత అతడు శేయీరువారి దేవతలను తీసికొనివచ్చి తనకు దేవతలుగా నిలిపి వాటికి నమస్కరించి ధూపము వేసెను.

14. When Amaziah returned from his conquest of the Edomites he brought back with him the gods of the people of Seir, which he set up as his own gods; he bowed down before them and offered sacrifice to them.

15. అందుకొరకు యెహోవా కోపము అమజ్యా మీద రగులుకొనెను. ఆయన అతనియొద్దకు ప్రవక్తను ఒకని పంపగా అతడునీ చేతిలోనుండి తమ జనులను విడిపింప శక్తిలేని దేవతలయొద్ద నీవెందుకు విచారణ చేయుదువని అమజ్యాతో ననెను.

15. Then the anger of the LORD blazed out against Amaziah, and he sent a prophet to him who said: 'Why have you had recourse to this people's gods that could not save their own people from your hand?'

16. అతడు అమజ్యాతో మాటలాడుచుండగా రాజు అతని చూచినీవు రాజుయొక్క ఆలోచనకర్తలలో ఒకడవైతివా? ఊరకొనుము;నేను నిన్ను చంపనేల అని చెప్పగా ఆ ప్రవక్తనీవు ఈలాగున చేసి నా ఆలోచనను అంగీకరింపకపోవుట చూచి దేవుడు నిన్ను నశింపజేయనుద్దేశించి యున్నాడని నాకు తెలియునని చెప్పి యూరకొనెను.

16. While he was still speaking, however, the king said to him: 'Have you been made the king's counselor? Be silent! Why should it be necessary to kill you?' Therefore the prophet desisted. 'I know, however,' he said, 'that God has let you take counsel to your own destruction, because you have done this thing and have refused to hear my counsel.'

17. అప్పుడు యూదారాజైన అమజ్యా ఆలోచనచేసికొనిరమ్ము మనము ఒకరి ముఖమును ఒకరము చూచుకొంద మని యెహూకు పుట్టిన యెహోయాహాజు కుమారుడును ఇశ్రాయేలు రాజునైన యెహోయాషునొద్దకు వర్తమానము పంపెను.

17. Having taken counsel, King Amaziah of Judah sent messengers to Joash, son of Jehoahaz, son of Jehu, the king of Israel, saying, 'Come, let us meet each other face to face.'

18. కాగా ఇశ్రాయేలురాజైన యెహోయాషు యూదారాజైన అమజ్యాకు ఈలాగు తిరుగ వర్తమానము పంపెనునీ కుమార్తెను నా కుమారునికిమ్మని లెబానోనులో నున్న ముండ్లచెట్టు లెబానోనులోనున్న దేవదారువృక్ష మునకు వర్తమానము పంపగా లెబానోనులో సంచరించు ఒక దుష్టమృగము ఆ ముండ్లచెట్టును త్రొక్కివేసెను.

18. King Joash of Israel sent this reply to King Amaziah of Judah: 'The thistle of the Lebanon sent a message to the cedar of the Lebanon, saying, 'Give your daughter to my son for his wife.' But the wild beasts of the Lebanon passed by and trampled the thistle down.

19. నేను ఎదోమీయులను ఓడించితిని గదా యని నీవను కొనుచున్నావు; నీ హృదయము నీవు గర్వించి ప్రగల్భము లాడునట్లు చేయుచున్నది; యింటియొద్ద నిలిచి యుండుము; నీవు నా జోలికి వచ్చి కీడు తెచ్చుకొనుట యెందుకు? నీవును నీతోకూడ యూదావారును అపజయ మొందుట యెందుకు?

19. You are thinking, 'See, I have beaten Edom!', and thus ambition makes you proud. Remain at home. Why involve yourself, and Judah with you, in misfortune and failure?'

20. జనులు ఎదోమీయుల దేవతల యొద్ద విచారణ చేయుచు వచ్చిరి గనుక వారి శత్రువుల చేతికి వారు అప్పగింపబడునట్లు దేవుని ప్రేరణవలన అమజ్యా ఆ వర్తమానమును అంగీకరింపక పోయెను.

20. But Amaziah would not listen, for God had determined to hand them over because they had had recourse to the gods of Edom.

21. ఇశ్రా యేలు రాజైన యెహోయాషు బయలుదేరగా యూదా దేశమునకు చేరిన బేత్షెమెషులో అతడును యూదా రాజైన అమజ్యాయును ఒకరి ముఖము ఒకరు చూచు కొనిరి.

21. Therefore King Joash of Israel advanced and he and King Amaziah met in battle at Beth-shemesh of Judah.

22. యూదావారు ఇశ్రాయేలువారియెదుట నిలువ లేక ఓడిపోగా ప్రతివాడును తన తన గుడారమునకు పారిపోయెను.

22. There Judah was defeated by Israel, and all the Judean soldiers fled homeward.

23. అప్పుడు ఇశ్రాయేలురాజైన యెహో యాషు యెహోయాహాజునకు పుట్టిన యోవాషు కుమారు డును యూదారాజునైన అమజ్యాను బేత్షెమెషులో పట్టుకొని యెరూషలేమునకు తీసికొని వచ్చి, యెరూషలేము ప్రాకారమును ఎఫ్రాయిము గుమ్మము మొదలుకొని మూలగుమ్మమువరకు నాలుగువందల మూరల పొడుగున పడ గొట్టెను.

23. King Joash of Israel captured Amaziah, king of Judah, son of Joash, son of Jehoahaz, at Beth-shemesh and brought him to Jerusalem. Then he tore down the wall of Jerusalem from the Ephraim Gate to the Corner Gate, a distance of four hundred cubits.

24. అతడు దేవుని మందిరములో ఓబేదెదోము నొద్దనున్న వెండియంతయు బంగారమంతయు ఉపకర ణములన్నియు రాజు నగరునందున్న సొమ్మును కుదవపెట్ట బడినవారిని తీసికొని షోమ్రోనునకు తిరిగి వెళ్లెను.

24. He took away all the gold and silver and all the vessels he found in the house of God with Obed-edom, together with the treasures of the palace, and hostages as well. Then he returned to Samaria.

25. ఇశ్రాయేలు రాజును యెహోయాహాజు కుమారుడు నైన యెహోయాషు మరణమైన తరువాత యూదా రాజును యోవాషు కుమారుడునైన అమజ్యా పదునయిదు సంవత్సరములు బ్రదికెను.

25. Amaziah, son of Joash, king of Judah, survived Joash, son of Jehoahaz, king of Israel, by fifteen years.

26. అమజ్యా చేసిన యితర కార్యములు యూదా ఇశ్రాయేలురాజుల గ్రంథమందు వ్రాయబడియున్నవి.

26. The rest of the acts of Amaziah, first and last, can be found written, as is well known, in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.

27. అమజ్యా యెహోవాను అనుస రించుట మానివేసిన తరువాత జనులు యెరూషలేములో అతనిమీద కుట్రచేయగా అతడు లాకీషునకు పారి పోయెను.

27. Now from the time that Amaziah ceased to follow the LORD, a conspiracy was formed against him in Jerusalem; hence he fled to Lachish. But they pursued him to Lachish and put him to death there.

28. అయితే వారు అతని వెనుక లాకీషునకు మను ష్యులను పంపి అతని అక్కడ చంపి, గుఱ్ఱములమీద అతని శవము ఎక్కించి తీసికొనివచ్చి యూదాపట్టణమందు అతని తండ్రులయొద్ద అతని పాతిపెట్టిరి.

28. They brought him back on horses and buried him with his ancestors in the City of Judah.
