1. మూడవ దినమందు ఎస్తేరు రాజభూషణములు ధరించుకొని, రాజునగరుయొక్క ఆవరణములో రాజు సన్నిధికి వెళ్లి నిలిచెను. రాజనగరు ద్వారమునకు ఎదురుగానున్న రాజావరణములో తన రాజాసనముమీద రాజు కూర్చుని యుండెను.

1. (a) On the third day, when she had finished praying, she took off her suppliant's mourning attire and dressed herself in her full splendour. Radiant as she then appeared, she invoked God who watches over all people and saves them. With her, she took two ladies-in-waiting. With a delicate air she leaned on one, while the other accompanied her carrying her train. (b) Rosy with the full flush of her beauty, her face radiated joy and love: but her heart shrank with fear. (c) Having passed through door after door, she found herself in the presence of the king. He was sitting on his royal throne, dressed in all his robes of state, glittering with gold and precious stones -- a formidable sight. (d) He looked up, afire with majesty and, blazing with anger, saw her. The queen sank to the floor. As she fainted, the colour drained from her face and her head fell against the lady-in-waiting beside her. (e) But God changed the king's heart, inducing a milder spirit. He sprang from his throne in alarm and took her in his arms until she recovered, comforting her with soothing words. (f) 'What is the matter, Esther?' he said. 'I am your brother. Take heart, you are not going to die; our order applies only to ordinary people. Come to me.' (g) And raising his golden sceptre he laid it on Esther's neck, embraced her and said, 'Speak to me.'

2. రాణియైన ఎస్తేరు ఆవరణములో నిలువబడి యుండుట రాజు చూడగా ఆమెయందు అతనికి దయ పుట్టెను. రాజు తన చేతిలోనుండు బంగారపు దండమును ఎస్తేరుతట్టు చాపగా ఎస్తేరు దగ్గరకు వచ్చి దండము యొక్క కొన ముట్టెను.

2. (a) 'Sire,' she said, 'to me you looked like one of God's angels, and my heart was moved with fear of your majesty. For you are a figure of wonder, my lord, and your face is full of graciousness.' (b) But as she spoke she fell down in a faint. The king grew more agitated, and his courtiers all set about reviving her.

3. రాజురాణియైన ఎస్తేరూ, నీకేమి కావలెను? నీ మనవి యేమిటి? రాజ్యములో సగము మట్టుకు నీకను గ్రహించెదనని ఆమెతో చెప్పగా

3. 'What is the matter, Queen Esther?' the king said. 'Tell me what you want; even if it is half my kingdom, I grant it you.'

4. ఎస్తేరు రాజునకు యుక్తముగా తోచినయెడల నేను రాజుకొరకు సిద్ధము చేయించిన విందునకు రాజవైన తామును హామానును నేడు రావలెనని కోరుచున్నానని ప్రత్యుత్తరమిచ్చెను.

4. 'Would it please the king,' Esther replied, 'to come with Haman today to the banquet I have prepared for him?'

5. ఎస్తేరు మాటప్రకారముగా జరుగునట్లు హామాను చేయ వలయునని త్వరపెట్టుమని రాజు సెలవియ్యగా రాజును హామానును ఎస్తేరు చేయించిన విందునకు వచ్చిరి.

5. The king said, 'Tell Haman to come at once, so that Esther may have her wish.'

6. రాజు ద్రాక్షారసపు విందుకు కూర్చుండి ఎస్తేరును చూచి నీ కోరిక యేమిటి? అది నీకనుగ్రహింపబడును, నీ మనవి యేమిటి? అది రాజ్యములో సగముమట్టుకైనను చేయబడునని చెప్పగా

6. So the king and Haman came to the banquet that Esther had prepared and, during the banquet, the king again said to Esther, 'Tell me your request; I grant it to you. Tell me what you want; even if it is half my kingdom, it is yours for the asking.'

7. ఎస్తేరు ఈలాగు ప్రత్యుత్తరమిచ్చెను రాజవైన తమ దృష్టికి నా యెడల దయకలిగి నా మనవి చొప్పునను నా కోరికచొప్పునను జరిగించుట రాజవైన తమకు అనుకూలమైతే

7. 'What do I want, what is my request?' Esther replied.

8. రాజవైన తామును హామానును మీ నిమిత్తము నేను చేయింపబోవు విందునకు రావలెను. రాజవైన తాము చెప్పినట్లు రేపటి దినమున నేను చేయుదును; ఇదే నా మనవియు నా కోరికయు ననెను.

8. 'If I have found favour in the king's eyes, and if it is his pleasure to grant what I ask and to agree to my request, let the king and Haman come to the banquet I intend to give them tomorrow, and then I shall do as the king says.'

9. ఆ దినమందు హామాను సంతోషించి మనోల్లాసముగలవాడై బయలువెళ్లి, రాజుగుమ్మముననుండు మొర్దెకై తన్ను చూచియు అతడు లేచి నిలువకయు కదలకయు ఉన్నం దున మొర్దెకై మీద బహుగా కోపగించెను.

9. Haman left full of joy and high spirits that day; but when he saw Mordecai at the Chancellery, neither standing up nor stirring at his approach, he felt a gust of anger.

10. అయితే హామాను కోపము అణచుకొని తన యింటికిపోయి తనస్నేహితులను తన భార్యయైన జెరెషును పిలిపించి

10. He restrained himself, however. Returning home, he sent for his friends and Zeresh his wife

11. తనకు కలిగిన గొప్ప ఐశ్వర్యమును గూర్చియు, చాలామంది పిల్లలు తనకుండుటను గూర్చియు, రాజు తన్ను ఘనపరచి రాజు క్రిందనుండు అధిపతులమీదను సేవకులమీదను తన్ను ఏలాగున పెద్దగా చేసెనో దానిని గూర్చియు వారితో మాటలాడెను.

11. and held forth to them about his dazzling wealth, his many children, how the king had raised him to a position of honour and promoted him over the heads of the king's officers-of-state and ministers.

12. మరియు అతడు రాణియైన ఎస్తేరు తాను చేయించిన విందునకు రాజును నన్ను తప్ప మరి యెవనిని పిలిపించలేదు, రేపటి దినమున కూడ రాజుతో కలిసి విందునకు రమ్మని నాకు సెలవైనదని తెలియజేసెను.

12. 'What is more,' he added, 'Queen Esther has just invited me and the king -- no one else except me -- to a banquet she was giving, and better still she has invited me and the king again tomorrow.

13. అయితే యూదుడైన మొర్దెకై రాజుగుమ్మమున కూర్చునియుండుట నేను చూచునంత కాలము ఆ పదవి అంతటివలన నాకు ప్రయోజనమేమియు లేదని అతడు చెప్పగా

13. But what do I care about all this when all the while I see Mordecai the Jew sitting there at the Chancellery?'

14. అతని భార్యయైన జెరెషును అతని స్నేహితులందరును ఏబది మూరల ఎత్తుగల యొక ఉరికొయ్య చేయించుము; దాని మీద మొర్దెకై ఉరి తీయింపబడునట్లు రేపు నీవు రాజుతో మనవి చేయుము; తరువాత నీవు సంతోషముగా రాజుతో కూడ విందునకు పోదువు అని అతనితో చెప్పిరి. ఈ సంగతి హామానునకు యుక్తముగా కనబడినందున అతడు ఉరికొయ్య యొకటి సిద్ధము చేయించెను.

14. 'Have a fifty-cubit gallows run up,' said Zeresh his wife and all his friends, 'and in the morning ask the king to have Mordecai hanged on it. Then you can go with the king to the banquet, without a care in the world!' Delighted with this advice, Haman had the gallows erected.
