1. హిజ్కియా రాజుయొక్క పదునాలుగవ సంవత్సర మున అష్షూరురాజైన సన్హెరీబు యూదా దేశములోని ప్రాకారముగల పట్టణములన్నిటిమీదికి వచ్చి వాటిని పట్టుకొనెను.

1. Sennacherib attacked and captured all of the cities of Judah that had high walls around them. It was in the 14th year of the rule of Hezekiah. Sennacherib was king of Assyria.

2. అంతట అష్షూరు రాజు రబ్షాకేను లాకీషు పట్టణమునుండి యెరూషలేమునందున్న రాజైనహిజ్కియా మీదికి బహు గొప్ప సేనతో పంపెను. వారు చాకి రేవు మార్గమందున్న మెరకకొలను కాలువయొద్ద ప్రవేశింపగా

2. He sent his field commander from Lachish to King Hezekiah at Jerusalem. He sent him along with a large army. The commander stopped at the channel that brings water from the Upper Pool. It was on the road to the Washerman's Field.

3. హిల్కీయా కూమారుడును రాజు గృహనిర్వాహ కుడును నైన ఎల్యాకీమును శాస్త్రియగు షెబ్నాయును, రాజ్యపు దస్తావేజులమీదనున్న ఆసాపు కుమారుడగు యోవాహును వారియొద్దకు పోయిరి.

3. Eliakim, Shebna and Joah went out to him. Eliakim, the son of Hilkiah, was in charge of the palace. Shebna was the secretary. Joah, the son of Asaph, kept the records.

4. అప్పుడు రబ్షాకే వారితో ఇట్లనెనుఈ మాట హిజ్కియాతో తెలియ జెప్పుడిమహారాజైన అష్షూరురాజు సెలవిచ్చినదేమనగా నీవీలాగు చెప్పవలెను. నీవు నమ్ముకొను ఈ ఆశ్రయాస్పదుడు ఏపాటి ప్రయోజనకారి?

4. The field commander said to them, 'Give Hezekiah this message. Tell him, ' 'Sennacherib is the great king of Assyria. He says, 'Why are you putting your faith in what your king says?

5. యుద్ధవిషయములో నీ యోచనయు నీ బలమును వట్టిమాటలే. ఎవని నమ్ముకొని నామీద తిరుగుబాటు చేయుచున్నావు?

5. You say you have a military plan. You say you have a strong army. But your words don't mean anything. Who are you depending on? Why don't you want to stay under my control?

6. నలిగిన రెల్లువంటి యీ ఐగుప్తును నీవు నమ్ముకొనుచున్నావు గదా; ఒకడు దానిమీద ఆనుకొన్నయెడల అది వాని చేతికి గుచ్చుకొని దూసిపోవును. ఐగుప్తురాజైన ఫరో అతని నమ్ముకొనువారికందరికి అట్టివాడే.

6. ' ' 'You are depending on Egypt. Why are you doing that? Egypt is nothing but a broken papyrus stem. Try leaning on it. It will only cut your hand. Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, is just like that to everyone who depends on him.

7. మా దేవుడైన యెహోవాను మేము నమ్ముకొనుచున్నామని మీరు నాతో చెప్పెదరేమో సరే; యెరూషలేమందున్న యీ బలిపీఠము నొద్ద మాత్రమే మీరు నమస్కారము చేయవలెనని యూదావారికిని యెరూషలేమువారికిని ఆజ్ఞ ఇచ్చి, హిజ్కియా యెవని ఉన్నత స్థలములను బలిపీఠములను పడగొట్టెనో ఆయనేగదా యెహోవా.

7. ' ' 'Suppose you say to me, 'We are depending on the Lord our God.' Didn't Hezekiah remove your god's high places and altars? Didn't Hezekiah say to the people of Judah and Jerusalem, 'You must worship at the altar in Jerusalem'?

8. కావున చిత్తగించి అష్షూరు రాజైన నా యేలినవానితో పందెము వేయుము; రెండు వేల గుఱ్ఱములమీద రౌతులను ఎక్కించుటకు నీకు శక్తి యున్నయెడల నేను వాటిని నీకిచ్చెదను.

8. ' ' 'Come on. Make a deal with my master, the king of Assyria. I'll give you 2,000 horses. But only if you can put riders on them!

9. లేనియెడల నా యజమానుని సేవకులలో అత్యల్పుడైన అధిపతియగు ఒకని నీవేలాగు ఎదిరింతువు? రథములను రౌతులను పంపునని ఐగుప్తురాజును నీవు ఆశ్రయించు కొంటివే.

9. You are depending on Egypt for chariots and horsemen. You can't drive away even the least important officer among my master's officials.

10. యెహోవా సెలవు నొందకయే యీ దేశమును పాడుచేయుటకు నేను వచ్చితినా? లేదు ఆ దేశముమీదికి పోయి దాని పాడుచేయుమని యెహోవా నాకు ఆజ్ఞ ఇచ్చెను అని చెప్పెను.

10. ' ' 'Besides, do you think I've come without being sent by the Lord? Have I come to attack and destroy this land without receiving a message from him? The Lord himself told me to march out against your country. He told me to destroy it.' ' '

11. ఎల్యాకీము షెబ్నా యోవాహు అను వారుచిత్తగించుము నీ దాసులమైన మాకు సిరియా భాష తెలియును గనుక దానితో మాట లాడుము, ప్రాకారముమీదనున్న ప్రజల వినికిడిలో యూదుల భాషతో మాటలాడకుమని రబ్షాకేతో అనగా

11. Then Eliakim, Shebna and Joah spoke to the field commander. They said, 'Please speak to us in the Aramaic language. We understand it. Don't speak to us in Hebrew. If you do, the people who are on the wall will be able to understand you.'

12. రబ్షాకేఈ మాటలు చెప్పుటకై నా యజమానుడు నీ యజమానునియొద్దకును నీయొద్దకును నన్ను పంపెనా? తమ మలమును తినునట్లును తమ మూత్రమును త్రాగునట్లును మీతోకూడ ప్రాకారముమీద ఉన్న వారియొద్దకును నన్ను పంపెను గదా అని చెప్పి

12. But the commander replied, 'My master sent me to say these things. Are these words only for your master and you to hear? Aren't they also for the men who are sitting on the wall? They are going to suffer just like you. They'll have to eat their own waste. They'll have to drink their own urine.'

13. గొప్ప శబ్దముతో యూదాభాషతో ఇట్లనెనుమహారాజైన అష్షూరురాజు సెలవిచ్చిన మాటలు వినుడి. రాజు సెల విచ్చునదేమనగా

13. Then the commander stood up and spoke in the Hebrew language. He called out, 'Pay attention to what the great king of Assyria is telling you.

14. హిజ్కియాచేత మోసపోకుడి; మిమ్మును విడిపింప శక్తి వానికి చాలదు.

14. He says, 'Don't let Hezekiah trick you. He can't save you!

15. యెహోవాను బట్టి మిమ్మును నమ్మించియెహోవా మనలను విడిపించును; ఈ పట్టణము అష్షూరు రాజు చేతిలో చిక్కక పోవునని హిజ్కియా చెప్పుచున్నాడే.

15. Don't let Hezekiah talk you into trusting in the Lord. Don't believe him when he says, 'You can be sure that the Lord will save us. This city will not be handed over to the king of Assyria.' '

16. హిజ్కియా చెప్పిన మాట మీరంగీకరింపవలదు; అష్షూరురాజు సెలవిచ్చున దేమనగా నాతో సంధి చేసికొని నాయొద్దకు మీరు బయటికి వచ్చినయెడల మీలో ప్రతి మనిషి తన ద్రాక్ష చెట్టు ఫలమును తన అంజూరపు చెట్టు ఫలమును తినుచు తన బావి నీళ్లు త్రాగుచు నుండును.

16. 'Don't listen to Hezekiah. The king of Assyria says, 'Make a peace treaty with me. Come over to my side. Then every one of you will eat fruit from your own vine and fig tree. Every one of you will drink water from your own well.

17. అటుపిమ్మట మీరు చావక బ్రదుకునట్లుగా నేను వచ్చి మీ దేశమువంటి దేశమునకు, అనగా గోధుమలును ద్రాక్షారసమును గల దేశమునకును ఆహారమును ద్రాక్షచెట్లునుగల దేశమునకును మిమ్మును తీసికొని పోదును; యెహోవా మిమ్మును విడిపించునని చెప్పి హిజ్కియా మిమ్మును మోసపుచ్చు చున్నాడు.

17. You will do that until I come back. Then I'll take you to a land that is just like yours. It's a land that has a lot of grain and fresh wine. It has plenty of bread and vineyards.

18. ఆయా జనముల దేవతలలో ఏదైనను తన దేశమును అష్షూరు రాజు చేతిలోనుండి విడిపించెనా? హమాతు దేవతలేమాయెను?

18. 'Don't let Hezekiah fool you. He's telling you a lie when he says, 'The Lord will save us.' Has the god of any nation ever saved his land from the powerful hand of the king of Assyria?

19. అర్పాదు దేవతలేమాయెను? సెపర్వయీము దేవతలేమాయెను? షోమ్రోను దేశపు దేవత నా చేతిలోనుండి షోమ్రోనును విడిపించెనా?

19. Where are the gods of Hamath and Arpad? Where are the gods of Sepharvaim? Have they saved Samaria from my power?

20. యెహోవా నా చేతిలో నుండి యెరూషలేమును విడిపించుననుటకు ఈ దేశముల దేవతలలో ఏదైనను తన దేశమును నా చేతిలోనుండి విడిపించినది కలదా? అని చెప్పెను.

20. Which one of all of the gods of those countries has been able to save his land from me? So how can the Lord save Jerusalem from my power?' '

21. అయితే అతనికి ప్రత్యుత్తర మియ్యవద్దని రాజు సెలవిచ్చి యుండుటచేత వారెంతమాత్రమును ప్రత్యుత్తరమియ్యక ఊరకొనిరి.

21. But the people remained silent. They didn't say anything. That's because King Hezekiah had commanded, 'Don't answer him.'

22. గృహనిర్వాహకుడును హిల్కీయా కుమారుడునైన ఎల్యాకీమును, శాస్త్రియగు షెబ్నాయును, రాజ్యపు దస్తావేజులమీదనున్న ఆసాపు కుమారుడగు యోవాహును బట్టలు చింపుకొని హిజ్కియాయొద్దకు వచ్చి రబ్షాకే పలికిన మాటలన్నియు తెలియజెప్పిరి.

22. Then Eliakim, the son of Hilkiah, went to Hezekiah. Eliakim was in charge of the palace. The secretary Shebna went with him. So did Joah, the son of Asaph. Joah kept the records. All of them went to Hezekiah with their clothes torn. They told him what the field commander had said.
