1. ఇశ్రాయేలు వంశస్థులారా, యెహోవా మిమ్మును గూర్చి సెలవిచ్చిన మాట వినుడి.

1. * The LORD said: Listen to me, you people of Israel.

2. యెహోవా సెలవిచ్చుచున్నదేమనగా అన్యజనముల ఆచారముల నభ్యసింపకుడి, ఆకాశమందు అగపడు చిహ్నములకు జనములు భయపడును, అయితే మీరు వాటికి భయపడకుడి.

2. Don't follow the customs of those nations who become frightened when they see something strange happen in the sky.

3. జనముల ఆచారములు వ్యర్థములు, అడవిలో నొకడు చెట్టు నరకునట్లు అది నరకబడును, అది పనివాడు గొడ్డలితో చేసినపని.

3. Their religion is worthless! They chop down a tree, carve the wood into an idol,

4. వెండి బంగారములచేత పనివారు దానిని అలంకరింతురు, అది కదలక యుండునట్లు మేకులు పెట్టి సుత్తెలతో బిగగొట్టి దాని నిలుపుదురు.

4. cover it with silver and gold, and then nail it down so it won't fall over.

5. అవి తాటిచెట్టు వలె తిన్నగా ఉన్నవి, అవి పలుకవు నడువనేరవు గనుక వాటిని మోయవలసివచ్చెను; వాటికి భయపడకుడి అవి హానిచేయ నేరవు మేలుచేయుట వాటివలనకాదు.

5. An idol is no better than a scarecrow. It can't speak, and it has to be carried, because it can't walk. Why worship an idol that can't help or harm you?

6. యెహోవా, నిన్ను పోలినవాడెవడును లేడు, నీవు మహాత్మ్యము గలవాడవు, నీ శౌర్యమునుబట్టి నీ నామము ఘన మైనదాయెను.

6. Our LORD, great and powerful, you alone are God.

7. జనములకు రాజా, నీకు భయపడని వాడెవడు? జనముల జ్ఞానులందరిలోను వారి రాజ్యము లన్నిటిలోను నీవంటివాడెవడును లేడు గనుక నరులు నీకు భయపడుట అనుగుణ్యము.

7. You are King of the nations. Everyone should worship you. No human anywhere on earth is wiser than you.

8. జనులు కేవలము పశుప్రాయులు, అవివేకులు; బొమ్మల పూజవలన వచ్చు జ్ఞానము వ్యర్థము.

8. Idols are worthless, and anyone who worships them is a fool!

9. తర్షీషునుండి రేకులుగా సాగగొట్టబడిన వెండియు ఉపాజునుండి బంగారమును తెత్తురు, అది పని వాని పనియేగదా; పోతపోయువాడు దాని చేసెను, నీల ధూమ్రవర్ణములుగల వస్త్రములు వాటికున్నవి, అవన్నియు నేర్పరులగు పనివారి పనియే.

9. Idols are made by humans. A carver shapes the wood. A metalworker hammers out a covering of gold from Uphaz or of silver from Tarshish. Then the idol is dressed in blue and purple clothes.

10. యెహోవాయే నిజమైన దేవుడు, ఆయనే జీవముగల దేవుడు, సదాకాలము ఆయనే రాజు, ఆయన ఉగ్రతకు భూమి కంపించును, జనములు ఆయన కోపమును సహింపలేవు.

10. You, LORD, are the only true and living God. You will rule for all time. When you are angry the earth shakes, and nations are destroyed.

11. మీరు వారితో ఈలాగు చెప్పవలెను ఆకాశమును భూమిని సృష్టింపని యీ దేవతలు భూమిమీద నుండ కుండను ఆకాశముక్రింద ఉండకుండను నశించును.

11. You told me to say that idols did not create the heavens and the earth, and that you, the LORD, will destroy every idol.

12. ఆయన తన బలముచేత భూమిని సృష్టించెను, తన జ్ఞానముచేత ప్రపంచమును స్థాపించెను, తన ప్రజ్ఞచేత ఆకాశమును విశాలపరచెను.

12. With your wisdom and power you created the earth and spread out the heavens.

13. ఆయన ఆజ్ఞ నియ్యగా జలరాసులు ఆకాశమండలములో పుట్టును, భూమ్యంత భాగములలోనుండి ఆయన ఆవిరి ఎక్క జేయును, వర్షము కలుగునట్లుగా ఆయన మెరుపులు పుట్టించును, తన ధనా గారములలోనుండి గాలిని రావించును.

13. The waters in the heavens roar at your command. You make clouds appear-- you send the winds from your storehouse and make lightning flash in the rain.

14. తెలివిలేని ప్రతి మనుష్యుడు పశుప్రాయుడు, పోతపోయు ప్రతివాడును తాను చేసిన విగ్రహమును బట్టి అవమానము నొందు చున్నాడు; అతడు పోతపోసినది మాయారూపము, అందులో ప్రాణమేమియు లేదు.

14. People who make idols are so stupid! They will be disappointed, because their false gods are not alive.

15. అవి ఆశను చెడగొట్టు మాయాకార్యములు, విమర్శకాలములో అవి నశించి పోవును,

15. Idols are merely a joke, and when the time is right, they will be destroyed.

16. యాకోబునకు స్వాస్థ్యమగువాడు వాటివంటి వాడు కాడు; ఆయన సమస్తమును నిర్మించువాడు, ఇశ్రాయేలు ఆయనకు స్వాస్థ్యముగానున్న గోత్రము; సైన్యములకధిపతియగు యెహోవాయని ఆయనకు పేరు.

16. But you, Israel's God, created all things, and you chose Israel to be your very own. Your name is the LORD All-Powerful.

17. నివాసినీ, ముట్టడివేయబడుచున్న దేశము విడిచి వెళ్లుటకై నీ సామగ్రిని కూర్చుకొనుము.

17. I said to the people of Judah, 'Gather your things; you are surrounded.

18. యెహోవా ఈ మాట సెలవిచ్చుచున్నాడునేను ఈ వేళను ఈ దేశ నివాసులను విసరివేయుచున్నాను, వారు పట్టబడవలెనని వారిని ముట్టడి వేయించుచున్నాను.

18. The LORD said these troubles will lead to your capture, and he will throw you from this land like a rock from a sling.'

19. కటకటా, నేను గాయపడితిని, నా దెబ్బ నొప్పి పెట్టుచున్నది, అయితే ఈ దెబ్బ నాకు తగినదే యనుకొని నేను దాని సహించు దును.

19. The people answered, 'We are wounded and doomed to die. Why did we say we could stand the pain?

20. నా గుడారము చినిగిపోయెను, నా త్రాళ్లన్నియు తెగిపోయెను, నా పిల్లలు నాయొద్దనుండి తొలగిపోయి యున్నారు, వారు లేకపోయిరి, ఇకమీదట నా గుడారమును వేయుటకైనను నా తెరల నెత్తుటకైనను ఎవడును లేడు.

20. Our homes are destroyed; our children are dead. No one is left to help us find shelter.'

21. కాపరులు పశుప్రాయులై యెహోవాయొద్ద విచారణచేయరు గనుక వారే వర్ధిల్లకయున్నారు, వారి మందలన్నియు చెదరిపోవుచున్నవి.

21. But I told them, 'Our leaders were stupid failures, because they refused to listen to the LORD. And so we've been scattered like sheep.

22. ఆలకించుడి, ధ్వని పుట్టుచున్నది, దాని రాక ధ్వని వినబడుచున్నది, యూదా పట్టణములను పాడైన స్థలముగా చేయుటకును, నక్కలకు చోటుగా చేయుటకును ఉత్తరదేశమునుండి వచ్చుచున్న గొప్ప అల్లరి ధ్వని వినబడుచున్నది.

22. Sounds of destruction rumble from the north like distant thunder. Soon our towns will be ruins where jackals live.'

23. యెహోవా, తమ మార్గము నేర్పరచుకొనుట నరులవశములో లేదనియు, మనుష్యులు తమ ప్రవర్తనయందు సన్మార్గమున ప్రవర్తించుట వారి వశములో లేదనియు నేనెరుగుదును.

23. I know, LORD, that we humans are not in control of our own lives.

24. యెహోవా, నీవు నన్ను బొత్తిగా తగ్గింపకుండునట్లు నీ కోపమునుబట్టి నన్ను శిక్షింపక నీ న్యాయవిధిని బట్టి నన్ను శిక్షింపుము.

24. Correct me, as I deserve, but not in your anger, or I will be dead.

25. నిన్నెరుగని అన్యజనులమీదను నీ నామమునుబట్టి ప్రార్థింపని వంశములమీదను నీ ఉగ్రతను కుమ్మరించుము; వారు యాకోబును మింగివేయుచున్నారు, నిర్మూలము చేయవలెనని వారు అతని మింగివేయుచున్నారు, వాని నివాసమును పాడుచేయుచున్నారు.

25. Our enemies refuse to admit that you are God or to worship you. They have wiped out our people and left our nation lying in ruins. So get angry and sweep them away!
