1. యెహోవా ఈలాగు సెలవిచ్చుచున్నాడు ఈ పట్టణములో నిలిచియున్నవారు ఖడ్గముచేతనైనను క్షామము చేతనైనను తెగులుచేతనైనను చత్తురు గాని కల్దీయులయొద్దకు బయలు వెళ్లువారు బ్రదుకుదురు, దోపుడుసొమ్ముదక్కించు కొనునట్లు తమ ప్రాణము దక్కించుకొని వారు బ్రదుకుదురు.

1. Some of the royal officials heard what Jeremiah was saying. They were Shephatiah son of Mattan, Gedaliah son of Pashhur, Jehucal son of Shelemiah, and Pashhur son of Malkijah. Jeremiah was telling all the people this message:

2. యెహోవా ఈలాగు సెలవిచ్చుచున్నాడు ఈ పట్టణము నిశ్చయముగా బబులోనురాజు దండుచేతికి అప్పగింపబడును, అతడు దాని పట్టుకొనును అని యిర్మీయా ప్రజల కందరికి ప్రకటింపగా

2. This is what the Lord says: 'Everyone who stays in Jerusalem will die by a sword, or hunger, or terrible sickness. But everyone who surrenders to the army of Babylon will live and escape with their lives.'

3. మత్తాను కుమారుడైన షెఫట్య యును పషూరు కుమారుడైన గెదల్యాయును షెలెమ్యా కుమారుడైన యూకలును మల్కీయా కుమారుడైన పషూరును వినిరి గనుక ఆ ప్రధానులు రాజుతో మనవి చేసిన దేమనగా ఈ మనుష్యుడు ఈ ప్రజలకు నష్టము కోరువాడేగాని క్షేమము కోరువాడుకాడు.

3. And this is what the Lord says: 'This city of Jerusalem will surely be given to the army of the king of Babylon. He will capture this city.''

4. ఇతడు ఇట్టి సమాచారము వారికి ప్రకటన చేయుటవలన ఈ పట్టణ ములో నిలిచియున్న యోధుల చేతులను ప్రజలందరి చేతులను బలహీనము చేయుచున్నాడు; చిత్తగించి వానికి మరణశిక్ష విధింపుము.

4. Then the royal officials who heard what Jeremiah was telling the people went to King Zedekiah. They said to the king, 'Jeremiah should be put to death. He is discouraging the soldiers who are still in the city and everyone else by what he is saying. He is not looking for peace; he is just trying to cause trouble.'

5. అందుకు రాజైన సిద్కియా అతడు మీవశమున ఉన్నాడు, రాజు మీకు అడ్డము రాజాలడనగా

5. So King Zedekiah said to the officials, 'Jeremiah is in your control. I cannot do anything to stop you.'

6. వారు యిర్మీయాను పట్టుకొని కారా గృహములోనున్న రాజకుమారుడగు మల్కీయా గోతి లోనికి దింపిరి. అందులోనికి యిర్మీయాను త్రాళ్లతో దింపినప్పుడు ఆ గోతిలో నీళ్లు లేవు, బురదమాత్రమే యుండెను, ఆ బురదలో యిర్మీయా దిగబడెను.

6. So the officials took Jeremiah and put him into Malkijah's cistern. (Malkijah was the king's son.) The cistern was in the Temple yard where the king's guard stayed. They used ropes to lower Jeremiah into the cistern. The cistern didn't have any water in it, only mud. And Jeremiah sank down into the mud.

7. రాజు బెన్యామీను ద్వారమున కూర్చునియుండగా రాజు ఇంటి లోని కూషీయుడగు ఎబెద్మెలెకను షండుడు,

7. But a man named Ebed Melech heard that the officials had put Jeremiah into the cistern. Ebed Melech was from Ethiopia, and he was a eunuch in the king's palace. King Zedekiah was sitting at the Benjamin Gate, so Ebed Melech left the king's palace and went to talk to the king at the gate.

8. వారు యిర్మీ యాను గోతిలో వేసిరను సంగతి విని, రాజు నగరులో నుండి బయలువెళ్లి రాజుతో ఈలాగు మనవి చేసెను

8. Ebed Melech said, 'My lord and king, these officials have done evil. They have treated Jeremiah the prophet badly. They have thrown him into a cistern and left him there to die.'

9. రాజా, నా యేలినవాడా, ఆ గోతిలో వేయబడిన యిర్మీయా అను ప్రవక్తయెడల ఈ మనుష్యులు చేసినది యావత్తును అన్యాయము; అతడున్న చోటను అతడు అకలిచేత చచ్చును, పట్టణములోనైనను ఇంకను రొట్టె లేమియు లేవు.

10. అందుకు రాజునీవు ఇక్కడనుండి ముప్పదిమంది మనుష్యులను వెంటబెట్టుకొనిపోయి, ప్రవక్త యైన యిర్మీయా చావకమునుపు ఆ గోతిలోనుండి అతని తీయించుమని కూషీయుడగు ఎబెద్మెలెకునకు సెలవియ్యగా

10. Then King Zedekiah gave a command to Ebed Melech, the Ethiopian. This was the command: 'Ebed Melech, take three men from the palace with you, and go get Jeremiah out of the cistern before he dies.'

11. ఎబెద్మెలెకు ఆ మనుష్యులను వెంటబెట్టు కొని రాజనగరులో ఖజానా క్రింది గదిలోనికి వచ్చి,

11. So Ebed Melech took the men with him. But first he went to a room under the storeroom in the king's palace. He took some old rags and worn-out clothes from that room. Then he let the rags down with some ropes to Jeremiah in the cistern.

12. అచ్చటనుండి పాతవైన చింకిబట్టలను చిరిగి చీరాకులైన గుడ్డపాతలను తీసికొని పోయి, ఆ గోతిలోనున్న యిర్మీయా పట్టుకొనునట్లుగా త్రాళ్లచేత వాటినిదింపిపాతవై చిరిగి చీరాకులైన యీ బట్టలను త్రాళ్లమీద నీ చంకలక్రింద పెట్టుకొనుమని అతనితో చెప్పెను.

12. Ebed Melech, the Ethiopian, said to Jeremiah, 'Put these old rags and worn-out clothes under your arms. When we pull you out, these rags will pad your underarms. Then the ropes will not hurt you.' So Jeremiah did as Ebed Melech said.

13. యిర్మీయా ఆలాగు చేయగా వారు యిర్మీయాను త్రాళ్లతో చేదుకొని ఆ గోతిలోనుండి వెలుపలికి తీసిరి; అప్పుడు యిర్మీయా బందీగృహశాలలో నివసించెను.

13. The men pulled Jeremiah up with the ropes and lifted him out of the cistern. And Jeremiah stayed under guard in the Temple yard.

14. తరువాత రాజైన సిద్కియా యెహోవా మందిరములో నున్న మూడవ ద్వారములోనికి ప్రవక్తయైన యిర్మీయాను పిలువనంపించి అతనితో ఇట్లనెనునేను ఒకమాట నిన్నడుగుచున్నాను, నీవు ఏ సంగతిని నాకు మరుగు చేయక దాని చెప్పుమనగా

14. Then King Zedekiah sent someone to get Jeremiah the prophet. He had Jeremiah brought to the third entrance to the Temple of the Lord. Then the king said, 'Jeremiah, I am going to ask you something. Don't hide anything from me, but tell me everything honestly.'

15. యిర్మీయా నేను ఆ సంగతి నీకు తెలియజెప్పినయెడల నిశ్చయముగా నీవు నాకు మరణ శిక్ష విధింతువు, నేను నీకు ఆలోచన చెప్పినను నీవు నా మాట వినవు.

15. Jeremiah said to Zedekiah, 'If I give you an answer, you will probably kill me. And even if I give you advice, you will not listen to me.'

16. కావున రాజైన సిద్కియా జీవాత్మను మన కనుగ్రహించు యెహోవాతోడు నేను నీకు మరణము విధింపను, నీ ప్రాణము తీయ జూచుచున్న యీ మనుష్యుల చేతికి నిన్ను అప్పగింపను అని యిర్మీయాతో రహస్యముగా ప్రమాణము చేసెను.

16. But King Zedekiah secretly swore an oath to Jeremiah. Zedekiah said, 'The Lord gives us breath and life. As surely as the Lord lives, I will not kill you, Jeremiah. And I promise not to give you to the officials who want to kill you.'

17. అప్పుడు యిర్మీయా సిద్కియాతో ఇట్లనెనుదేవుడు, ఇశ్రాయేలు దేవుడును సైన్యములకధిపతియునైన యెహోవా ఈలాగు సెలవిచ్చు చున్నాడునీవు బబులోనురాజు అధిపతులయొద్దకు వెళ్లిన యెడల నీవు బ్రదికెదవు, ఈ పట్టణము అగ్నిచేత కాల్చబడదు, నీవును నీ యింటివారును బ్రదుకుదురు.

17. Then Jeremiah said to King Zedekiah, 'The Lord God All-Powerful is the God of Israel. This is what he says, 'If you surrender to the officials of the king of Babylon, your life will be saved, and Jerusalem will not be burned down. And you and your family will live.

18. అయితే నీవు బబులోను అధిపతుల యొద్దకు వెళ్లనియెడల ఈ పట్టణము కల్దీయుల చేతికి అప్పగింపబడును, వారు అగ్ని చేత దాని కాల్చివేసెదరు, మరియు నీవు వారి చేతిలో నుండి తప్పించుకొనజాలవు.

18. But if you refuse to surrender, Jerusalem will be given to the Babylonian army. They will burn Jerusalem down, and you will not escape from them.''

19. అందుకు రాజైన సిద్కియా యిర్మీయాతో ఇట్లనెనుకల్దీయుల పక్షముగా ఉండు యూదులకు భయపడుచున్నాను; ఒకవేళ కల్దీయులు నన్ను వారి చేతికి అప్పగించినయెడల వారు నన్ను అపహసించెదరు.

19. But King Zedekiah said to Jeremiah, 'But I am afraid of the men of Judah who have already gone over to the side of the Babylonian army. I am afraid that the soldiers will give me to the men of Judah, and they will treat me badly and hurt me.'

20. అందుకు యిర్మీయావారు నిన్నప్పగింపరు, నీవు బ్రదికి బాగుగానుండునట్లు నేను నీతో చెప్పుచున్న సంగతినిగూర్చి యెహోవా సెలవిచ్చు మాటను చిత్తగించి ఆలకించుము.

20. But Jeremiah answered, 'The soldiers will not give you to the men of Judah. King Zedekiah, obey the Lord by doing what I tell you. Then things will go well for you, and your life will be saved.

21. నీవు ఒకవేళ బయలు వెళ్లక పోయినయెడల యెహోవా ఈ మాట నాకు తెలియజేసెను.

21. But if you refuse to surrender to the army of Babylon, the Lord has shown me what will happen. This is what the Lord has told me:

22. యూదా రాజు నగరులో శేషించియున్న స్త్రీలందరు బబులోను అధిపతులయొద్దకు కొనిపోబడెదరు, ఆలాగు జరుగగా ఆ స్త్రీలు నిన్ను చూచినీ ప్రియస్నేహితులు నిన్ను మోసపుచ్చి నీ పైని విజయము పొందియున్నారు, నీ పాదములు బురదలో దిగబడియుండగా వారు వెనుకతీసిరని యందురు.

22. All the women who are left in the house of the king of Judah will be brought out. They will be brought to the important officials of the king of Babylon. Your women will make fun of you with a song. This is what they will say: 'Your friends were stronger than you, and they led you the wrong way. You trusted them, but now your feet are stuck in the mud, and your friends have left you.'

23. నీ భార్యలందరును నీ పిల్లలును కల్దీయులయొద్దకు కొనిపోబడుదురు, నీవు వారి చేతిలోనుండి తప్పించుకొనజాలక బబులోను రాజుచేత పట్టబడెదవు గనుక ఈ పట్టణమును అగ్నిచేత కాల్చుటకు నీవే కారణమగుదువు.

23. All your wives and children will be brought out. They will be given to the Babylonian army. You yourself will not escape from the army of Babylon. You will be captured by the king of Babylon, and Jerusalem will be burned down.'

24. అందుకు సిద్కియా యిర్మీయాతో ఇట్లనెనునీవు మరణశిక్ష నొంద కుండునట్లు ఈ సంగతులను ఎవనికిని తెలియనియ్యకుము.

24. Then Zedekiah said to Jeremiah, 'Don't tell anyone that I have been talking to you. If you do, you might die.

25. నేను నీతో మాటలాడిన సంగతి అధిపతులు వినినయెడల వారు నీయొద్దకు వచ్చి మేము నిన్ను చంపకుండునట్లు రాజుతో నీవు చెప్పిన సంగతిని రాజు నీతో చెప్పిన సంగతిని మరుగుచేయక మాకిప్పుడే తెలియజెప్పుమనగా

25. If the officials find out that I talked to you, they will come to you and say, 'Jeremiah, tell us what you said to King Zedekiah and what he said to you. Be honest with us, and tell us everything, or we will kill you.'

26. నీవు యోనాతాను ఇంటిలో నేను చనిపోకుండ అక్కడికి నన్ను తిరిగి వెళ్లనంపవద్దని రాజు ఎదుట నేను మనవి చేసికొనబోతినని వారితో చెప్పుమని రాజు యిర్మీయాతో అనెను.

26. If they say this to you, tell them, 'I was begging the king not to send me back to the cell in the dungeon under Jonathan's house. If I were to go back there, I would die.''

27. అంతట అధిపతులందరు యిర్మీయాయొద్దకు వచ్చి యడుగగా అతడు రాజు సెలవిచ్చిన మాటల ప్రకార ముగా వారికుత్తరమిచ్చి ఆ సంగతి వారికి తెలియజేయనందున వారు అతనితో మాటలాడుట మానిరి.

27. It happened that the royal officials of the king did come to Jeremiah to question him. So Jeremiah told them everything the king had ordered him to say. Then they left Jeremiah alone. No one had heard what Jeremiah and the king had talked about.

28. యెరూష లేము పట్టబడువరకు యిర్మీయా బందీగృహశాలలో ఉండెను.

28. So Jeremiah stayed under guard in the Temple yard until the day Jerusalem was captured.
