1. నరహత్య చేసిన పట్టణమా, నీకు శ్రమ; అది ఎడ తెగక యెర పట్టుకొనుచు మోసముతోను బలాత్కారముతోను నిండియున్నది.

1. It will be very bad for that city of murderers. Nineveh is a city full of lies. It is filled with things taken from other countries. It is filled with plenty of people that it hunted and killed.

2. సారధియొక్క చబుకు ధ్వనియు చక్రములధ్వనియు గుఱ్ఱముల త్రొక్కుడు ధ్వనియు వడిగా పరుగెత్తు రథములధ్వనియు వినబడు చున్నవి.

2. You can hear the sounds of whips and the noise of wheels. You can hear horses galloping and chariots bouncing along!

3. రౌతులు వడిగా పరుగెత్తుచున్నారు, ఖడ్గములు తళతళలాడుచున్నవి, ఈటెలు మెరయుచున్నవి, చాలమంది హతమవుచున్నారు; చచ్చిన వారు కుప్పలు కుప్పలుగా పడియున్నారు; పీనుగులకు లెక్కయే లేదు, పీనుగులు కాలికి తగిలి జనులు తొట్రిల్లుచున్నారు.

3. Soldiers on horses are attacking, their swords are shining, their spears are gleaming! There are many dead people. Dead bodies are piled up� too many bodies to count. People are tripping over the dead bodies.

4. చక్కనిదానవై వేశ్యవై చిల్లంగి తనమందు జ్ఞానముగల దానవై జారత్వముచేసి జనాంగములమీద చిల్లంగితనము జరిగించి సంసారములను అమ్మివే సినదానా,

4. All this happened because of Nineveh. Nineveh is like a prostitute who could never get enough. She wanted more and more. She sold herself to many nations, and she used her magic to make them her slaves.

5. నీవు చేసిన అధిక జారత్వమునుబట్టి సైన్యములకు అధిపతియగు యెహోవా వాక్కు ఇదేనేను నీకు విరోధినైయున్నాను, నీ చెంగులు నీ ముఖముమీది కెత్తి జనములకు నీ మానమును రాజ్యములకు నీ యవమానమును నేను బయలుపరతును.

5. The Lord All-Powerful says, 'I am against you Nineveh. I will pull your dress up over your face. I will let the nations see your naked body. The kingdoms will see your shame.

6. పదిమంది యెదుట నీమీద మాలిన్యమువేసి నిన్ను అవమాన పరచెదను.

6. I will throw dirty things on you and treat you in a hateful way. People will look at you and laugh.

7. అప్పుడు నిన్ను చూచు వారందరు నీయొద్ద నుండి పారిపోయి నీనెవె పాడైపోయెనే, దానికొరకు అంగలార్చువారెవరు? నిన్ను ఓదార్చు వారిని ఎక్కడ నుండి పిలుచుకొని వచ్చెదము అందురు.

7. Everyone who sees you will be shocked. They will say, 'Nineveh is destroyed. Who will cry for her?' I know I cannot find anyone to comfort you, Nineveh.'

8. సముద్రమే తనకు ఆపుగాను సముద్రమే తనకు ప్రాకారముగాను చేసికొని, బహు జనములచేత చుట్టబడి నైలునది దగ్గర నుండిన నో అమోను పట్టణముకంటె నీవు విశేషమైన దానవా?

8. Nineveh, are you better than Thebes on the Nile River? Thebes also had water all around her to protect herself from enemies. She used that water like a wall too.

9. కూషీయులును ఐగుప్తీయులును దాని శూరులైరి, వారు విస్తార జనముగా నుండిరి, పూతువారును లూబీయులును నీకు సహాయులై యుండిరి.

9. Ethiopia and Egypt made Thebes strong. Libya and the Sudan supported her,

10. అయినను అది చెరపట్టబడి కొనిపోబడెను, రాజమార్గముల మొగల యందు శత్రువులు దానిలోని చిన్న పిల్లలను బండలకు వేసి కొట్టి చంపిరి, దాని ఘనులమీద చీట్లువేసి దాని ప్రధానుల నందరిని సంకెళ్లతో బంధించిరి.

10. but Thebes was defeated. Her people were taken away as prisoners to a foreign country. Soldiers beat her small children to death at every street corner. They threw lots to see who got to keep the important people as slaves. They put chains on all the important men of Thebes.

11. నీవును మత్తురాలవై దాగుకొందువు, శత్రువు వచ్చుట చూచి ఆశ్రయదుర్గము వెదకుదువు.

11. So, Nineveh, you will also fall like a drunk. You will try to hide. You will look for a safe place away from the enemy.

12. అయితే నీ కోటలన్నియు అకాలపు పండ్లు గల అంజూరపు చెట్లవలె ఉన్నవి; ఒకడు వాటిని కదిలింపగానే పండ్లు తినవచ్చినవానినోట పడును;

12. But, Nineveh, all your strong places will be like fig trees. When new figs become ripe, people come and shake the tree. The figs fall into their mouths. They eat them, and the figs are gone.

13. నీ జనులు స్త్రీలవంటివారైరి, నీ శత్రువులు చొచ్చునట్లు నీ దేశపు గవునుల యడ్డకఱ్ఱలు తీయబడియున్నవి, అగ్ని నీ అడ్డగడియలను కాల్చుచున్నది.

13. Nineveh, your people are all like women�and the enemy soldiers are ready to take them. The gates of your land are open wide for your enemies to come in. Fire has destroyed the wooden bars across the gates.

14. ముట్టడివేయు కాలమునకు నీళ్లు చేదుకొనుము, నీ కోటలను బలపరచుము, జిగట మంటిలోనికి దిగి యిటుకల బురదను త్రొక్కుము, ఆవములను సిద్ధపరచుము.

14. Get water and store it inside your city, because the enemy soldiers will surround your city. Make your defenses strong! Get clay to make more bricks and mix the mortar. Get the molds for making bricks.

15. అచ్చటనే అగ్ని నిన్ను కాల్చివేయును, ఖడ్గము నిన్ను నాశనముచేయును, గొంగళిపురుగు తినివేయురీతిగా అది నిన్ను తినివేయును, నీవు సంఖ్యకు గొంగళిపురుగులంత విస్తారముగాను మిడుత లంత విస్తారముగాను ఉండుము.

15. You can do all these things, but the fire will still destroy you completely. And the sword will kill you. Your land will look like a swarm of grasshoppers came and ate everything. Nineveh, you grew and grew. You became like a swarm of grasshoppers. You were like a swarm of locusts.

16. నీ వర్తకులు లెక్కకు ఆకాశ నక్షత్రములకంటె ఎక్కువగానున్నను గొంగళి పురుగు వచ్చి అంతయు నాకివేసి యెగిరిపోయెను.

16. You have many traders who go places and buy things. They are as many as the stars in the sky. They are like locusts that come and eat until everything is gone and then leave.

17. నీవు ఏర్పరచిన శూరులు మిడుతలంత విస్తారముగా నున్నారు, నీ సైనికులు చలికాలమందు కంచెలలో దిగిన గొంగళి పురుగులవలె నున్నారు. ఎండకాయగా అవి యెగిరి పోవును, అవి ఎక్కడ వాలినది ఎవరికిని తెలియదు.

17. And your government officials are also like locusts that settle on a stone wall on a cold day. But when the sun comes up, the rocks become warm, and the locusts all fly away. And no one knows where.

18. అష్షూరు రాజా, నీ కాపరులు నిద్రపోయిరి, నీ ప్రధా నులు పండుకొనిరి, నీ జనులు పర్వతములమీద చెదరి పోయిరి, వారిని సమకూర్చువాడొకడును లేడు.

18. King of Assyria, your shepherds fell asleep. These powerful men are sleeping. And now your sheep have wandered away on the mountains. There is no one to bring them back.

19. నీకు తగిలిన దెబ్బ బహు చెడ్డది, నీ గాయమునకు చికిత్స ఎవడును చేయజాలడు, జనులందరు ఎడతెగక నీచేత హింసనొందిరి, నిన్నుగూర్చిన వార్త విను వారందరు నీ విషయమై చప్పట్లు కొట్టుదురు.

19. Nineveh, you have been hurt badly, and nothing can heal your wound. Everyone who hears the news of your destruction claps their hands. They are all happy, because they all felt the pain you caused again and again.
