1. యెహోవా మోషేకు ఈలాగున సెలవిచ్చెను

1. And Jehovah speaketh unto Moses, saying,

2. నేను ఇశ్రాయేలీయులకు ఇచ్చుచున్న కనానుదేశమును సంచరించి చూచుటకు నీవు మనుష్యులను పంపుము. వారి పితరుల గోత్రములలో ఒక్కొక్క దాని నుండి ఒక్కొక్క మనుష్యుని మీరు పంపవలెను; వారిలో ప్రతివాడు ప్రధానుడై యుండవలెను.

2. 'Send for thee men, and they spy the land of Canaan, which I am giving to the sons of Israel; one man, one man for the tribe of his fathers ye do send, every one a prince among them.'

3. మోషే యెహోవా మాట విని, పారాను అరణ్యమునుండి వారిని పంపెను. వారందరు ఇశ్రాయేలీయులలో ముఖ్యులు.

3. And Moses sendeth them from the wilderness of Paran by the command of Jehovah; all of them [are] men, heads of the sons of Israel they are,

4. వారి పేళ్లు ఏవనగారూబేను గోత్ర మునకు

4. and these their names: For the tribe of Reuben, Shammua son of Zaccur.

5. జక్కూరు కుమారుడైన షమ్మూయ; షిమ్యోను గోత్రమునకు హోరీ కుమారుడైన షాపాతు;

5. For the tribe of Simeon, Shaphat son of Hori.

6. యూదా గోత్రమునకు యెఫున్నె కుమారు డైన కాలేబు;

6. For the tribe of Judah, Caleb son of Jephunneh.

7. ఇశ్శాఖారు గోత్రమునకు యోసేపు కుమారుడైన ఇగాలు;

7. For the tribe of Issachar, Igal son of Joseph.

8. ఎఫ్రాయిము గోత్రమునకు నూను కుమారుడైన హోషేయ;

8. For the tribe of Ephraim, Oshea, son of Nun.

9. బెన్యామీను గోత్రమునకు రాఫు కుమారుడైన పల్తీ;

9. For the tribe of Benjamin, Palti son of Raphu.

10. జెబూలూను గోత్రమునకు సోరీ కుమారుడైన గదీయేలు;

10. For the tribe of Zebulun, Gaddiel son of Sodi.

11. యోసేపు గోత్రమునకు, అనగా మనష్షే గోత్రమునకు సూసీ కుమారుడైన గదీ;

11. For the tribe of Joseph, (for the tribe of Manasseh,) Gaddi son of Susi.

12. దాను గోత్రమునకు గెమలి కుమారుడైన అమీ్మయేలు;

12. For the tribe of Dan, Ammiel son of Gemalli.

13. ఆషేరు గోత్రమునకు మిఖాయేలు కుమారుడైన సెతూరు;

13. For the tribe of Asher, Sethur son of Michael.

14. నఫ్తాలి గోత్రమునకు వాపెసీ కుమారుడైన నహబీ;

14. For the tribe of Naphtali, Nahbi son of Vopshi.

15. గాదు గోత్రమునకు మాకీ కుమారుడైన గెయువేలు అనునవి.

15. For the tribe of Gad, Geuel son of Machi.

16. దేశమును సంచరించి చూచుటకు మోషే పంపిన మనుష్యుల పేళ్లు ఇవి. మోషే నూను కుమారుడైన హోషేయకు యెహోషువ అను పేరు పెట్టెను.

16. These [are] the names of the men whom Moses hath sent to spy the land; and Moses calleth Hoshea son of Nun, Jehoshua.

17. మోషే కనానుదేశమును సంచరించి చూచుటకు వారిని పంపి నప్పుడు వారితో ఇట్లనెనుమీరు ధైర్యము తెచ్చుకొని దాని దక్షిణదిక్కున ప్రవేశించి ఆ కొండ యెక్కి ఆ దేశము ఎట్టిదో

17. And Moses sendeth them to spy the land of Canaan, and saith unto them, 'Go ye up this [way] into the south, and ye have gone up the mountain,

18. దానిలో నివసించు జనము బలముగలదో బలములేనిదో, కొంచెమైనదో విస్తారమైనదో

18. and have seen the land what it [is], and the people which is dwelling on it, whether it [is] strong or feeble; whether it [is] few or many;

19. వారు నివసించు భూమి యెట్టిదో అది మంచిదో చెడ్డదో, వారు నివసించు పట్టణములు ఎట్టివో, వారు గుడారము లలో నివసించుదురో, కోటలలో నివసించుదురో, ఆ భూమి సారమైనదో నిస్సారమైనదో,

19. and what the land [is] in which it is dwelling, whether it [is] good or bad; and what [are] the cities in which it is dwelling, whether in camps or in fortresses;

20. దానిలో చెట్లు న్నవో లేవో కనిపెట్టవలెను. మరియు మీరు ఆ దేశపు పండ్లలో కొన్ని తీసికొనిరండని చెప్పెను. అది ద్రాక్షల ప్రథమ పక్వకాలము

20. And what the land [is], whether it [is] fat or lean; whether there is wood in it or not; and ye have strengthened yourselves, and have taken of the fruit of the land;' and the days [are] days of the first-fruits of grapes.

21. కాబట్టి వారు వెళ్లి సీను అరణ్యము మొదలుకొని హమాతుకు పోవు మార్గముగా రెహోబువరకు దేశసంచారముచేసి చూచిరి.

21. And they go up and spy the land, from the wilderness of Zin unto Rehob at the going in to Hamath;

22. వారు దక్షిణదిక్కున ప్రయాణముచేసి హెబ్రోనుకు వచ్చిరి. అక్కడ అనాకీయులు అహీమాను షేషయి తల్మయి అను వారుండిరి. ఆ హెబ్రోను ఐగుప్తులోని సోయనుకంటె ఏడేండ్లు ముందుగా కట్టబడెను.

22. and they go up by the south, and come in unto Hebron, and there [are] Ahiman, Sheshai, and Talmai, children of Anak (and Hebron was built seven years before Zoan in Egypt),

23. వారు ఎష్కోలు లోయలోనికి వచ్చి అక్కడ ఒక్క గెలగల ద్రాక్షచెట్టు యొక్క కొమ్మనుకోసి దండెతో ఇద్దరు మోసిరి. మరియు వారు కొన్ని దానిమ్మపండ్లను కొన్ని అంజూ రపు పండ్లను తెచ్చిరి.

23. and they come in unto the brook of Eshcol, and cut down thence a branch and one cluster of grapes, and they bear it on a staff by two, also [some] of the pomegranates, and of the figs.

24. ఇశ్రాయేలీయులు అక్కడకోసిన ద్రాక్ష గెలనుబట్టి ఆ స్థలమునకు ఎష్కోలు లోయ అను పేరు పెట్టబడెను.

24. That place hath [one] called Brook of Eshcol, because of the cluster which the sons of Israel cut from thence.

25. వారు నలుబది దినములు ఆ దేశమును సంచరించి చూచి తిరిగి వచ్చిరి.

25. And they turn back from spying the land at the end of forty days.

26. అట్లు వారు వెళ్లి పారాను అరణ్యమందలి కాదేషులోనున్న మోషే అహ రోనులయొద్దకును ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల సర్వసమాజమునొద్ద కును వచ్చి, వారికిని ఆ సర్వ సమాజమునకును సమాచారము తెలియచెప్పి ఆ దేశపు పండ్లను వారికి చూపించిరి.

26. And they go and come in unto Moses, and unto Aaron, and unto all the company of the sons of Israel, unto the wilderness of Paran, to Kadesh; and they bring them and all the company back word, and shew them the fruit of the land.

27. వారు అతనికి తెలియపరచినదేమనగానీవు మమ్మును పంపిన దేశమునకు వెళ్లితివిు; అది పాలు తేనెలు ప్రవ హించు దేశమే; దాని పండ్లు ఇవి.

27. And they recount to him, and say, 'We came in unto the land whither thou hast sent us, and also it [is] flowing with milk and honey -- and this [is] its fruit;

28. అయితే ఆ దేశ ములో నివసించు జనులు బలవంతులు; వారి పట్టణములు ప్రాకారముగలవి అవి మిక్కిలి గొప్పవి; మరియు అక్కడ అనాకీయులను చూచితివిు.

28. only, surely the people which is dwelling in the land [is] strong; and the cities are fenced, very great; and also children of Anak we have seen there.

29. అమాలేకీయులు దక్షిణదేశ ములో నివసించుచున్నారు; హిత్తీయులు యెబూసీయులు అమోరీయులు కొండ దేశములో నివసించుచున్నారు; కనానీయులు సముద్రమునొద్దను యొర్దాను నదీప్రాంత ములలోను నివసించుచున్నారని చెప్పిరి.

29. Amalek is dwelling in the land of the south, and the Hittite, and the Jebusite, and the Amorite is dwelling in the hill country, and the Canaanite is dwelling by the sea, and by the side of the Jordan.'

30. కాలేబు మోషే యెదుట జనులను నిమ్మళ పరచిమనము నిశ్చయముగా వెళ్లుదుము; దాని స్వాధీనపరచుకొందుము; దాని జయించుటకు మన శక్తి చాలుననెను.

30. And Caleb stilleth the people concerning Moses, and saith, 'Let us certainly go up -- and we have possessed it; for we are thoroughly able for it.'

31. అయితే అతనితో కూడ పోయిన ఆ మనుష్యులుఆ జనులు మనకంటె బల వంతులు; మనము వారి మీదికి పోజాలమనిరి.

31. And the men who have gone up with him said, 'We are not able to go up against the people, for it [is] stronger than we;'

32. మరియు వారు తాము సంచరించి చూచిన దేశమునుగూర్చి ఇశ్రాయేలీయులతో చెడ్డ సమాచారము చెప్పిమేము సంచరించి చూచిన దేశము తన నివాసులను భక్షించు దేశము; దానిలో మాకు కనబడిన జనులందరు ఉన్నత దేహులు.

32. and they bring out an evil account of the land which they have spied unto the sons of Israel, saying, 'The land into which we passed over to spy it, is a land eating up its inhabitants; and all the people whom we saw in its midst [are] men of stature;

33. అక్కడ నెఫీలీయుల సంబంధులైన అనాకు వంశపు నెఫీలీ యులను చూచితివిు; మా దృష్ఠికి మేము మిడతలవలె ఉంటిమి, వారి దృష్ఠికిని అట్లే ఉంటిమనిరి.

33. and there we saw the Nephilim, sons of Anak, of the Nephilim; and we are in our own eyes as grasshoppers; and so we were in their eyes.'
