1. రెండు దినములైన పిమ్మట పస్కాపండుగ, అనగా పులియని రొట్టెలపండుగ వచ్చెను. అప్పుడు ప్రధాన యాజకులును శాస్త్రులును మాయోపాయముచేత ఆయన నేలాగు పట్టుకొని చంపుదుమా యని ఆలోచించుకొను చుండిరి గాని

1. It was now only two days before the Passover and the Festival of Unleavened Bread. The leading priests and teachers of the law were trying to find a way to arrest Jesus without the people seeing it. Then they could kill him.

2. ప్రజలలో అల్లరి కలుగు నేమో అని పండుగలో వద్దని చెప్పుకొనిరి.

2. They said, 'But we cannot arrest Jesus during the festival. We don't want the people to be angry and cause a riot.'

3. ఆయన బేతనియలో కుష్ఠరోగియైన సీమోను ఇంట భోజనమునకు కూర్చుండియున్నప్పుడు ఒక స్త్రీ మిక్కిలి విలువగల అచ్చ జటామాంసి అత్తరుబుడ్డి తీసికొని వచ్చి, ఆ అత్తరుబుడ్డి పగులగొట్టి ఆ అత్తరు ఆయన తలమీద పోసెను.

3. Jesus was in Bethany at the house of Simon the leper. While he was eating there, a woman came to him. She had an alabaster jar filled with expensive perfume made of pure nard. She opened the jar and poured the perfume on Jesus' head.

4. అయితే కొందరు కోపపడి ఈ అత్తరు ఈలాగు నష్టపరచనేల?

4. Some of the followers there saw this. They were upset and complained to each other. They said, 'Why waste that perfume?

5. ఈ అత్తరు మున్నూరు దేనారముల కంటె ఎక్కువ వెలకమ్మి, బీదలకియ్యవచ్చునని చెప్పి ఆమెనుగూర్చి సణుగుకొనిరి.

5. It was worth a full year's pay. It could have been sold and the money given to those who are poor.' And they told the woman what a bad thing she had done.

6. అందుకు యేసు ఇట్లనెను ఈమె జోలికిపోకుడి; ఈమెను ఎందుకు తొందరపెట్టుచున్నారు? ఈమె నాయెడల మంచి కార్యము చేసెను.

6. Jesus said, 'Leave her alone. Why are you giving her such trouble? She did a very good thing for me.

7. బీదలు ఎల్లప్పుడును మీతోనే యున్నారు, మీకిష్టమైనప్పుడెల్ల వారికి మేలు చేయ వచ్చును; నేను ఎల్లప్పుడును మీతో నుండను.

7. You will always have the poor with you, and you can help them any time you want. But you will not always have me.

8. ఈమె తన శక్తికొలదిచేసి, నా భూస్థాపన నిమిత్తము నా శరీరమును ముందుగా అభిషేకించెను.

8. This woman did the only thing she could do for me. She poured perfume on my body before I die to prepare it for burial.

9. సర్వలోకములో ఎక్కడ ఈ సువార్త ప్రకటింపబడునో అక్కడ ఈమె చేసినదియు జ్ఞాపకార్థముగా ప్రశంసింపబడునని మీతో నిశ్చయముగా చెప్పుచున్నాననెను.

9. The Good News will be told to people all over the world. And I can assure you that everywhere the Good News is told, the story of what this woman did will also be told, and people will remember her.'

10. పండ్రెండుమందిలో నొకడగు ఇస్కరియోతు యూదా, ప్రధానయాజకుల చేతికి ఆయనను అప్పగింప వలెనని వారియొద్దకు పోగా

10. Then Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve apostles, went to talk to the leading priests about handing Jesus over to them.

11. వారు విని, సంతోషించి వానికి ద్రవ్యమిత్తుమని వాగ్దానము చేసిరి గనుక వాడు ఆయనను అప్పగించుటకు తగిన సమయము కనిపెట్టు చుండెను.

11. They were very happy about this, and they promised to pay him. So he waited for the best time to hand Jesus over to them.

12. పులియని రొట్టెల పండుగలో మొదటి దినమున వారు పస్కాపశువును వధించునప్పుడు, ఆయన శిష్యులునీవు పస్కాను భుజించుటకు మేమెక్కడికి వెళ్లి సిద్ధపరచవలెనని కోరుచున్నావని ఆయన నడుగగా,

12. It was now the first day of the Festival of Unleavened Bread �the day the lambs were killed for the Passover. Jesus' followers came to him and said, 'We will go and prepare everything for you to eat the Passover meal. Where do you want us to have the meal?'

13. ఆయన మీరు పట్టణములోనికి వెళ్లుడి; అక్కడ నీళ్లకుండ మోయుచున్న యొక మనుష్యుడు మీకెదురుపడును;

13. Jesus sent two of his followers into the city. He said to them, 'Go into the city. You will see a man carrying a jar of water. He will come to you. Follow him.

14. వాని వెంటబోయి వాడు ఎక్కడ ప్రవేశించునో ఆ యింటి యజమానుని చూచి నేను నా శిష్యులతో కూడ పస్కాను భుజించుటకు నా విడిది గది యెక్కడనని బోధకుడడుగు చున్నాడని చెప్పుడి.

14. He will go into a house. Tell the owner of the house, 'The Teacher asks that you show us the room where he and his followers can eat the Passover meal.'

15. అతడు సామగ్రితో సిద్ధపరచబడిన గొప్ప మేడగది మీకు చూపించును; అక్కడ మనకొరకు సిద్ధపరచు డని చెప్పి తన శిష్యులలో ఇద్దరిని పంపెను.

15. The owner will show you a large room upstairs that is ready for us. Prepare the meal for us there.'

16. శిష్యులు వెళ్లి పట్టణములోనికి వచ్చి ఆయన వారితో చెప్పినట్టు కనుగొని పస్కాను సిద్ధపరచిరి.

16. So the followers left and went into the city. Everything happened the way Jesus said. So the followers prepared the Passover meal.

17. సాయంకాలమైనప్పుడు ఆయన తన పండ్రెండుమంది శిష్యులతో కూడ వచ్చెను.

17. In the evening, Jesus went to that house with the twelve apostles.

18. వారు కూర్చుండి భోజనము చేయుచుండగా యేసుమీలో ఒకడు, అనగా నాతో భుజించుచున్నవాడు నన్ను అప్పగించునని నిశ్చయముగా మీతో చెప్పుచున్నానని వారితో చెప్పగా

18. While they were all at the table eating, he said, 'Believe me when I say that one of you will hand me over to my enemies�one of you eating with me now.'

19. వారు దుఃఖపడినేనా అని యొకని తరువాత ఒకడు ఆయన నడుగసాగిరి.

19. The followers were very sad to hear this. Each one said to Jesus, 'Surely I am not the one!'

20. అందుకాయన పండ్రెండు మందిలో ఒకడే, అనగా నాతోకూడ పాత్రలో (చెయ్యి) ముంచు వాడే.

20. Jesus answered, 'It is one of you twelve�one who is dipping his bread in the same bowl with me.

21. నిజముగా మనుష్యకుమారుడు ఆయననుగూర్చి వ్రాయబడినట్టు పోవుచున్నాడు; అయితే ఎవనిచేత మనుష్యకుమారుడు అప్పగింపబడుచున్నాడో, ఆ మను ష్యునికి శ్రమ; ఆ మనుష్యుడు పుట్టియుండనియెడల వానికి మేలనెను.

21. The Son of Man will suffer what the Scriptures say will happen to him. But it will be very bad for the one who hands over the Son of Man to be killed. It would be better for him if he had never been born.'

22. వారు భోజనము చేయుచుండగా, ఆయన యొక రొట్టెను పట్టుకొని, ఆశీర్వదించి విరిచి, వారికిచ్చిమీరు తీసికొనుడి; ఇది నా శరీరమనెను.

22. While they were eating, Jesus took some bread and thanked God for it. He broke off some pieces, gave them to his followers and said, 'Take and eat this bread. It is my body.'

23. పిమ్మట ఆయన గిన్నెపట్టుకొని కృతజ్ఞతాస్తుతులు చెల్లించి దాని వారికిచ్చెను; వారందరు దానిలోనిది త్రాగిరి.

23. Then he took a cup of wine, thanked God for it, and gave it to them. They all drank from the cup.

24. అప్పుడాయన ఇది నిబంధనవిషయమై అనేకుల కొరకు చిందింపబడు చున్న నా రక్తము.

24. Then he said, 'This wine is my blood, which will be poured out for many to begin the new agreement from God to his people.

25. నేను దేవుని రాజ్యములో ద్రాక్షారసము క్రొత్తదిగా త్రాగుదినమువరకు ఇకను దానిని త్రాగనని మీతో నిశ్చయముగా చెప్పుచున్నాననెను.

25. I want you to know, I will not drink this wine again until that day when I drink it in God's kingdom and the wine is new.'

26. అంతట వారు కీర్తన పాడి ఒలీవలకొండకు వెళ్లిరి.

26. They all sang a song and then went out to the Mount of Olives.

27. అప్పుడు యేసు వారిని చూచిమీరందరు అభ్యంతర పడెదరు; గొఱ్ఱెల కాపరిని కొట్టుదును; గొఱ్ఱెలు చెదరిపోవును అని వ్రాయబడియున్నది గదా.

27. Then Jesus told the followers, 'You will all lose your faith. The Scriptures say, 'I will kill the shepherd, and the sheep will run away.'

28. అయితే నేను లేచిన తరువాత మీకంటె ముందుగా గలిలయలోనికి వెళ్లెదననెను.

28. But after I am killed, I will rise from death. Then I will go to Galilee. I will be there before you come.'

29. అందుకు పేతురు అందరు అభ్యంతరపడినను నేను అభ్యంతరపడనని ఆయనతో చెప్పగా

29. Peter said, 'All the other followers may lose their faith. But my faith will never be shaken.'

30. యేసు అతని చూచినేటి రాత్రి కోడి రెండుమారులు కూయకమునుపే నీవు నన్ను ఎరుగనని ముమ్మారు చెప్పెదవని నీతో నిశ్చయముగా చెప్పుచున్నా ననెను.

30. Jesus answered, 'The truth is, tonight you will say you don't know me. You will say it three times before the rooster crows twice.'

31. అతడు మరి ఖండితముగానేను నీతో కూడ చావవలసి వచ్చినను నిన్ను ఎరుగనని చెప్పనే చెప్పననెను. అట్లు వారందరుననిరి.

31. But Peter strongly protested, 'I will never say I don't know you! I will even die with you!' And all the other followers said the same thing.

32. Jesus and his followers went to a place named Gethsemane. He said to them, 'Sit here while I pray.'

33. But he told Peter, James, and John to come with him. He began to be very distressed and troubled,

34. అప్పుడాయననా ప్రాణము మరణమగు నంతగా దుఃఖములో మునిగియున్నది; మీరిక్కడ ఉండి మెలకువగా నుండుడని వారితో చెప్పి

34. and he said to them, 'My heart is so heavy with grief, I feel as if I am dying. Wait here and stay awake.'

35. కొంతదూరము సాగిపోయి నేలమీద పడి, సాధ్యమైతే ఆ గడియ తనయొద్దనుండి తొలగిపోవలెనని ప్రార్థించుచు

35. Jesus went on a little farther away from them, fell to the ground, and prayed. He asked that, if possible, he would not have this time of suffering.

36. నాయనా తండ్రీ, నీకు సమస్తము సాధ్యము; ఈ గిన్నె నాయొద్దనుండి తొలగించుము; అయినను నా యిష్ట ప్రకారము కాదు నీ చిత్తప్రకారమే కానిమ్ము అనెను.

36. He said, 'Abba, Father! You can do all things. Don't make me drink from this cup. But do what you want, not what I want.'

37. మరల ఆయన వచ్చి వారు నిద్రించుచుండుట చూచి సీమోనూ, నీవు నిద్రించుచున్నావా? ఒక్క గడియయైనను మేలుకొనియుండలేవా?

37. Then he went back to his followers and found them sleeping. He said to Peter, 'Simon, why are you sleeping? Could you not stay awake with me for one hour?

38. మీరు శోధనలో ప్రవేశించకుండునట్లు మెలకువగా నుండి ప్రార్థన చేయుడి; ఆత్మ సిద్ధమే గాని శరీరము బలహీనమని పేతురుతో చెప్పి

38. Stay awake and pray for strength against temptation. Your spirit wants to do what is right, but your body is weak.'

39. తిరిగి పోయి, యింతకుముందు పలికిన మాటలనే పలుకుచు ప్రార్థించెను.

39. Again Jesus went away and prayed the same thing.

40. ఆయన తిరిగివచ్చి చూడగా, వారు నిద్రించుచుండిరి; ఏలయనగా వారి కన్నులు భారముగా ఉండెను, ఆయనకేమి ఉత్తరమియ్యవలెనో వారికి తోచ లేదు.

40. Then he went back to the followers and again found them sleeping. They could not stay awake. They did not know what they should say to him.

41. ఆయన మూడవ సారి వచ్చిమీరిక నిద్రపోయి అలసట తీర్చుకొనుడి. ఇక చాలును, గడియ వచ్చినది; ఇదిగో మనుష్యకుమారుడు పాపులచేతికి అప్పగింపబడు చున్నాడు;

41. After Jesus prayed a third time, he went back to his followers. He said to them, 'Are you still sleeping and resting? That's enough! The time has come for the Son of Man to be handed over to the control of sinful men.

42. లెండి వెళ్లుదము; ఇదిగో నన్ను అప్పగించు వాడు సమీపించియున్నాడని చెప్పెను.

42. Stand up! We must go. Here comes the man who is handing me over to them.'

43. వెంటనే, ఆయన ఇంకను మాటలాడుచుండగా పండ్రెండుమంది శిష్యులలో ఒకడైన ఇస్కరియోతు యూదా వచ్చెను. వానితోకూడ బహుజనులు కత్తులు గుదియలు పట్టుకొని, ప్రధానయాజకులయొద్దనుండియు శాస్త్రులయొద్దనుండియు పెద్దలయొద్దనుండియు వచ్చిరి.

43. While Jesus was still speaking, Judas, one of the twelve apostles, came there. He had a big crowd of people with him, all carrying swords and clubs. They had been sent from the leading priests, the teachers of the law, and the older Jewish leaders.

44. ఆయనను అప్పగించువాడు నేనెవరిని ముద్దుపెట్టు కొందునో ఆయనే (యేసు); ఆయనను పట్టుకొని భద్రముగా కొనిపోవుడని వారికి గురుతు చెప్పియుండెను.

44. Judas planned to do something to show them which one was Jesus. He said, 'The one I kiss will be Jesus. Arrest him and guard him while you lead him away.'

45. వాడు వచ్చి వెంటనే ఆయన యొద్దకు పోయి బోధకుడా అని చెప్పి, ఆయనను ముద్దుపెట్టుకొనగా

45. So Judas went over to Jesus and said, 'Teacher!' Then he kissed him.

46. వారు ఆయనమీద పడి ఆయనను పట్టుకొనిరి.

46. The men grabbed Jesus and arrested him.

47. దగ్గర నిలిచి యున్నవారిలో ఒకడు కత్తిదూసి ప్రధానయాజకుని దాసుని కొట్టి వాని చెవి తెగనరికెను.

47. One of the followers standing near Jesus grabbed his sword and pulled it out. He swung it at the servant of the high priest and cut off his ear.

48. అందుకు యేసు మీరు బందిపోటు దొంగమీదికి వచ్చినట్టు కత్తులతోను గుదియలతోను నన్ను పట్టుకొన వచ్చితిరా?

48. Then Jesus said, 'Why do you come to get me with swords and clubs as if I were a criminal?

49. నేను ప్రతిదినము దేవాలయములో మీయొద్ద ఉండి బోధించు చుండగా, మీరు నన్ను పట్టుకొనలేదు, అయితే లేఖనములు నెరవేరునట్లు (ఈలాగు జరుగుచున్నదని చెప్పెను).

49. Every day I was with you teaching in the Temple area. You did not arrest me there. But all these things have happened to show the full meaning of what the Scriptures said.'

50. అప్పుడు వారందరు ఆయనను విడిచి పారిపోయిరి.

50. Then all of Jesus' followers left him and ran away.

51. తన దిగంబర శరీరముమీద నారబట్ట వేసికొనియున్న యొక పడుచువాడు ఆయన వెంట వెళ్లుచుండగా, వారతనిని పట్టుకొనిరి.

51. One of those following Jesus was a young man wearing only a linen cloth. When the people tried to grab him,

52. అతడు నారబట్ట విడిచి, దిగంబరుడై పారిపోయెను.

52. he left the cloth in their hands and ran away naked.

53. వారు యేసును ప్రధాన యాజకుని యొద్దకు తీసికొని పోయిరి. ప్రధానయాజకులు పెద్దలు శాస్త్రులు అందరును అతనితోకూడవచ్చిరి.

53. Those who arrested Jesus led him to the house of the high priest. All the leading priests, the older Jewish leaders, and the teachers of the law were gathered there.

54. పేతురు ప్రధానయాజకుని యింటిముంగిటివరకు దూరమునుండి ఆయన వెంటపోయి బంట్రౌతులతోకూడ కూర్చుండి, మంటయొద్ద చలి కాచు కొనుచుండెను.

54. Peter followed Jesus but stayed back at a distance. He followed him to the yard of the high priest's house. He went into the yard and sat there with the guards, warming himself by their fire.

55. ప్రధానయాజకులును మహాసభవారందరును యేసును చంపింపవలెనని ఆయనమీద సాక్ష్యము వెదకిరిగాని, యేమియు వారికి దొరకలేదు.

55. The leading priests and the whole high council tried to find something that Jesus had done wrong so they could kill him. But the council could find no proof that would allow them to kill Jesus.

56. అనేకులు ఆయనమీద అబద్ధసాక్ష్యము పలికినను వారి సాక్ష్యములు ఒకదానికి ఒకటి సరిపడలేదు.

56. Many people came and told lies against Jesus, but they all said different things. None of them agreed.

57. అప్పుడు కొందరు లేచి చేతిపనియైన ఈ దేవాలయమును పడగొట్టి, మూడు దిన ములలో చేతిపనికాని మరియొక దేవాలయమును నేను కట్టుదునని వీడు చెప్పుచుండగా వింటిమని

57. Then some others stood up and told more lies against Jesus. They said,

58. ఆయనమీద అబద్ధసాక్ష్యము చెప్పిరి

58. We heard this man say, 'I will destroy this Temple built by human hands. And three days later, I will build another Temple not made by human hands.''

59. గాని ఆలాగైనను వీరి సాక్ష్యమును సరిపడలేదు.

59. But also what these people said did not agree.

60. ప్రధానయాజకుడు వారి మధ్యను లేచి నిలిచి ఉత్తరమేమియు చెప్పవా? వీరు నీ మీద పలుకు చున్న సాక్ష్యమేమని యేసు నడిగెను.
యెషయా 53:7

60. Then the high priest stood up before everyone and said to Jesus, 'These people said things against you. Do you have something to say about their charges? Are they telling the truth?'

61. అయితే ఆయన ఉత్తరమేమియు చెప్పక ఊరకుండెను. తిరిగి ప్రధాన యాజకుడుపరమాత్ముని కుమారుడవైన క్రీస్తువు నీవేనా? అని ఆయన నడుగగా

61. But Jesus said nothing to answer him. The high priest asked Jesus another question: 'Are you the Christ, the Son of the blessed God?'

62. యేసుఅవును నేనే; మీరు మనుష్యకుమారుడు సర్వశక్తిమంతుని కుడిపార్శ్వమున కూర్చుండుటయు, ఆకాశమేఘారూఢుడై వచ్చుటయు చూచెదరని చెప్పెను.

62. Jesus answered, 'Yes, I am the Son of God. And in the future you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right side of God All-Powerful. And you will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven.'

63. ప్రధానయాజకుడు తన వస్త్రములు చింపుకొని మనకు ఇక సాక్షులతో పని యేమి?

63. When the high priest heard this, he tore his clothes in anger. He said, 'We don't need any more witnesses!

64. ఈ దేవదూషణ మీరు విన్నారు కారా; మీకేమి తోచుచున్నదని అడుగగా వారందరుమరణమునకు పాత్రుడని ఆయనమీద నేరస్థాపనచేసిరి.

64. You all heard these insults to God. What do you think?' Everyone agreed that Jesus was guilty and must be killed.

65. కొందరు ఆయనమీద ఉమ్మివేసి ఆయన ముఖమునకు ముసుకువేసి, ఆయనను గుద్దుచుప్రవచింపుమని ఆయనతో చెప్పసాగిరి. బంట్రౌతులును ఆయనను అరచేతులతో కొట్టి పట్టుకొనిరి.

65. Some of the people there spit at him. They covered his eyes and hit him with their fists. They said, 'Be a prophet and tell us who hit you!' Then the guards led Jesus away and beat him.

66. పేతురు ముంగిటి క్రిందిభాగములో ఉండగా ప్రధాన యాజకుని పనికత్తెలలో ఒకతె వచ్చి

66. While Peter was still in the yard, a servant girl of the high priest came there.

67. పేతురు చలి కాచుకొనుచుండుట చూచెను; అతనిని నిదానించి చూచి నీవును నజరేయుడగు ఆ యేసుతో కూడ ఉండినవాడవు కావా? అనెను.

67. She saw him warming himself by the fire. She looked closely at him and said, 'You were with Jesus, that man from Nazareth.'

68. అందుకతడు ఆయన ఎవడో నేనెరు గను; నీవు చెప్పినది నాకు బోధపడలేదని చెప్పి నడవ లోనికి వెళ్లెను; అంతట కోడి కూసెను.

68. But Peter said this was not true. 'That makes no sense,' he said. 'I don't know what you are talking about!' Then he left and went to the entrance of the yard, and a rooster crowed.

69. ఆ పనికత్తె అతనిని చూచివీడు వారిలో ఒకడని దగ్గర నిలిచియున్న వారితో మరల చెప్పసాగెను.

69. When the servant girl saw him there, she began saying again to the people standing around, 'This man is one of them.'

70. అతడు మరలనేను కాననెను. కొంతసేపైన తరువాత దగ్గర నిలిచియున్నవారు మరల పేతురును చూచినిజముగా నీవు వారిలో ఒకడవు; నీవు గలిలయుడవు గదా అనిరి.

70. Again Peter said it was not true. A short time later, the people standing there said, 'We know you are one of them, because you are from Galilee.'

71. అందుకతడు మీరు చెప్పుచున్న మనుష్యుని నేనెరుగనని చెప్పి, శపించుకొనుటకును ఒట్టు బెట్టుకొనుటకును మొదలు పెట్టెను.

71. Then Peter began to curse. He said, 'I swear to God, I don't know this man you are talking about!'

72. వెంటనే రెండవమారు కోడికూసెను గనుకకోడి రెండు మారులు కూయకమునుపు నీవు నన్ను ఎరుగనని ముమ్మారు చెప్పెదవని యేసు తనతో చెప్పిన మాట పేతురు జ్ఞాపకమునకు తెచ్చుకొని తలపోయుచు ఏడ్చెను.

72. As soon as Peter said this, the rooster crowed the second time. Then he remembered what Jesus had told him: 'Before the rooster crows twice, you will say three times that you don't know me.' Then Peter began to cry.
