1. విశ్రాంతిదినమున ఆయన భోజనము చేయుటకు పరిసయ్యుల అధికారులలో ఒకని యింటిలోనికి వెళ్లినప్పుడు, ఆయన ఏమి చేయునో అని వారాయనను కనిపెట్టు చుండిరి.

1. On the Day of Rest Jesus went into the house of one of the leaders of the proud religious lawkeepers to eat. They all watched Jesus to see what He would do.

2. అప్పుడు జలోదర రోగముగల యొకడు ఆయన యెదుట ఉండెను.

2. A man who had very large arms and legs because of a sickness was put before Jesus.

3. యేసు విశ్రాంతిదినమున స్వస్థపరచుట న్యాయమా కాదా?

3. Jesus asked the teachers of the Law and the proud religious lawkeepers, 'Does the Law say it is right to heal on the Day of Rest, or not?'

4. అని ధర్మశాస్త్రోపదేశ కులను పరిసయ్యులను అడుగగా వారూరకుండిరి. అప్పు డాయన వానిని చేరదీసి స్వస్థపరచి పంపివేసి

4. They did not answer. Jesus took hold of the man and healed him and sent him away.

5. మీలో ఎవని గాడిదయైనను ఎద్దయినను గుంటలో పడినయెడల విశ్రాంతిదినమున దానిని పైకి తీయడా? అని వారి నడి గెను.

5. Then Jesus said to the leaders, 'If one of you had a cow or donkey that fell into a hole, would you not go at once and pull it out on the Day of Rest?'

6. ఈ మాటలకు వారు ఉత్తరము చెప్పలేకపోయిరి.

6. And they were not able to answer His questions.

7. పిలువబడినవారు భోజనపంక్తిని అగ్రపీఠములు ఏర్పరచు కొనుట చూచి ఆయన వారితో ఈ ఉపమానము చెప్పెను.

7. Jesus had been watching those who were asked to come to supper. They were all trying to get the important seats. He told them a picture-story, saying,

8. నిన్నెవరైనను పెండ్లివిందుకు పిలిచినప్పుడు అగ్రపీఠము మీద కూర్చుండవద్దు; ఒకవేళ నీకంటె ఘనుడు అతని చేత పిలువబడగా

8. 'When you are asked by someone to a wedding supper, do not take the important seat. Someone more important than you may have been asked to come also.

9. నిన్నును అతనిని పిలిచినవాడు వచ్చి ఇతనికి చోటిమ్మని నీతో చెప్పును, అప్పుడు నీవు సిగ్గు పడి కడపటి చోటున కూర్చుండసాగుదువు.

9. The one who asked both of you to come may say to you, 'The important seat is for this man.' Then you will be ashamed as you take the last place.

10. అయితే నీవు పిలువబడి నప్పుడు, నిన్ను పిలిచినవాడు వచ్చిస్నేహి తుడా, పైచోటికి పొమ్మని నీతో చెప్పులాగున నీవు పోయి కడపటి చోటున కూర్చుండుము; అప్పుడు నీతోకూడ కూర్చుండుము.

10. But when you are asked to come to the table, sit down on the last seat. Then the one who asked you may come and say to you, 'Friend, go to a more important place.' Then you will be shown respect in front of all who are at the table with you.

11. తన్ను తాను హెచ్చించుకొను ప్రతివాడును తగ్గింపబడును; తన్నుతాను తగ్గించుకొనువాడు హెచ్చింపబడునని చెప్పెను.

11. Whoever makes himself look more important than he is will find out how little he is worth. Whoever does not try to honor himself will be made important.'

12. మరియు ఆయన తన్ను పిలిచినవానితో ఇట్లనెను నీవు పగటి విందైనను రాత్రి విందైనను చేయునప్పుడు, నీ స్నేహితులనైనను నీ సహోదరులనైనను నీ బంధువుల నైనను ధనవంతులగు నీ పొరుగువారినైనను పిలువవద్దు; వారు ఒకవేళ నిన్ను మరల పిలుతురు గనుక నీకు ప్రత్యుప కారము కలుగును.

12. Then Jesus said to the man who asked Him to eat in his house, 'When you have a supper, do not ask your friends or your brothers or your family or your rich neighbors. They will ask you to come to their place for a supper. That way you will be paid back for what you have done.

13. అయితే నీవు విందు చేయునప్పుడు బీదలను అంగహీనులను కుంటివాండ్రను గ్రుడ్డివాండ్రను పిలువుము.

13. When you have a supper, ask poor people. Ask those who cannot walk and those who are blind.

14. నీకు ప్రత్యుపకారము చేయుటకు వారి కేమియు లేదు గనుక నీవు ధన్యుడవగుదువు; నీతిమంతుల పునరుత్థానమందు నీవు ప్రత్యుపకారము పొందుదువని చెప్పెను.

14. You will be happy if you do this. They cannot pay you back. You will get your reward when the people who are right with God are raised from the dead.'

15. ఆయనతో కూడ భోజనపంక్తిని కూర్చుండినవారిలో ఒకడు ఈ మాటలు వినిదేవుని రాజ్యములో భోజనము చేయువాడు ధన్యుడని ఆయనతో చెప్పగా

15. When one of those eating at the table with Jesus heard this, he said, 'Everyone is happy who will eat in the holy nation of God.'

16. ఆయన అతనితో నిట్లనెను ఒక మనుష్యుడు గొప్ప విందు చేయించి అనేకులను పిలిచెను.

16. Then Jesus said to the leader of the proud religious law-keepers, 'There was a man who was giving a big supper. He asked many people to come to eat.

17. విందుకాలమందు అతడు ఇప్పుడు సిద్ధమైయున్నది, రండని పిలువబడినవారితో చెప్పుటకు తన దాసుని పంపెను.

17. When it was about time to eat, he sent one of the servants he owned to tell those he had asked, saying, 'Come, everything is ready now.'

18. అయితే వారందరు ఏకమనస్సుతో నెపములు చెప్ప సాగిరి. మొదటివాడు నేనొక పొలము కొనియున్నాను, అవశ్యముగా వెళ్లిదాని చూడవలెను, నన్ను క్షమింపవలెనని నిన్ను వేడుకొనుచున్నాననెను.

18. They all gave different reasons why they could not come. The first said, 'I have bought some land and I must go and see it. Do not expect me to come.'

19. మరియెకడు నేను అయిదు జతల యెడ్లను కొనియున్నాను, వాటిని పరీక్షింప వెళ్లుచున్నాను, నన్ను క్షమింపవలెనని వేడుకొనుచున్నాననెను.

19. Another one said, 'I have bought ten cows to use for working in my fields. I must go and try them out. Do not expect me to come.'

20. మరి యొకడునేనొక స్త్రీని వివాహము చేసికొన్నాను; అందుచేత నేను రాలేననెను.

20. And another one said, 'I have just been married and I cannot come.'

21. అప్పుడా దాసుడు తిరిగి వచ్చి యీ మాటలు తన యజమానునికి తెలియజేయగా, ఆ యింటి యజ మానుడు కోపపడినీవు త్వరగాపట్టణపు వీధులలోనికిని సందులలోనికిని వెళ్లి, బీదలను అంగహీనులను కుంటివారిని గ్రుడ్డివారిని ఇక్కడికి తోడుకొనిరమ్మని ఆ దాసునితో చెప్పెను

21. 'The servant went back to his owner and told him these things. Then his owner became angry. He said to his servant, 'Hurry into the streets and narrow roads of the city and bring poor people here. Bring those whose bodies are diseased. Bring those who cannot walk and those who are blind.'

22. అంతట దాసుడు ప్రభువా, నీ వాజ్ఞాపించినట్టు చేసితినిగాని యింకను చోటున్నదని చెప్పెను.

22. The servant came back and said, 'Sir, what you told me to do has been done. But there are still some empty places.'

23. అందుకు యజమానుడు - నా యిల్లు నిండు నట్లు నీవు రాజమార్గములలోనికిని కంచెలలోనికిని వెళ్లి లోపలికి వచ్చుటకు అక్కడివారిని బలవంతము చేయుము;

23. Then the owner said to his servant, 'Go out along the roads leading away from the city and into the fields. Tell them they must come. Do this so my house will be filled.

24. ఏలయనగా పిలువబడిన ఆ మనుష్యులలో ఒకడును నా విందు రుచిచూడడని మీతో చెప్పుచున్నాననెను.

24. I tell you, not one of those I had asked will eat of my supper.' '

25. బహు జనసమూహములు ఆయనతో కూడ వెళ్లు చున్నప్పుడు ఆయన వారితట్టు తిరిగి

25. Many people followed Jesus. Then He turned around and said to them,

26. ఎవడైనను నా యొద్దకు వచ్చి తన తండ్రిని తల్లిని భార్యను పిల్లలను అన్న దమ్ములను అక్కచెల్లెండ్రను తన ప్రాణమును సహా ద్వేషింపకుంటే వాడు నా శిష్యుడు కానేరడు.
ద్వితీయోపదేశకాండము 33:9

26. 'If any man comes to Me and does not have much more love for Me than for his father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, and even his own life, he cannot be My follower.

27. మరియు ఎవడైనను తన సిలువను మోసికొని నన్ను వెంబడింపని యెడల వాడు నా శిష్యుడు కానేరడు.

27. If he does not carry his cross and follow Me, he cannot be My follower.

28. మీలో ఎవడైనను ఒక గోపురము కట్టింప గోరిన యెడల దానిని కొనసాగించుటకు కావలసినది తన యొద్ద ఉన్నదో లేదో అని కూర్చుండి తగులుబడి మొదట లెక్కచూచుకొనడా?

28. 'If one of you wanted to build a large building, you would sit down first and think of how much money it would take to build it. You would see if you had enough money to finish it,

29. చూచుకొననియెడల అతడు దాని పునాదివేసి, ఒకవేళ దానిని కొనసాగింప లేక పోయినందున

29. or when the base of the building is finished, you might see that you do not have enough money to finish it. Then all who would see it would make fun of you.

30. చూచువారందరు ఈ మనుష్యుడు కట్ట మొదలుపెట్టెను గాని కొన సాగింపలేక పోయెనని అతని చూచి యెగతాళి చేయ సాగుదురు.

30. They would say, 'This man began to build and was not able to finish.'

31. మరియు ఏ రాజైనను మరియొక రాజుతో యుద్ధము చేయబోవునప్పుడు తనమీదికి ఇరువదివేల మందితో వచ్చువానిని పదివేలమందితో ఎదిరింప శక్తి తనకు కలదో లేదో అని కూర్చుండి మొదట ఆలోచింపడా?

31. 'What if a king is going to war with another king? Will he not sit down first and decide if he is able to go with 10,000 men against the other king who is coming with 20,000 men?

32. శక్తి లేనియెడల అతడింకను దూరముగా ఉన్నప్పుడే రాయబారము పంపి సమాధానము చేసికొన చూచును గదా.

32. Or, he will send a soldier to the other king while he is still a long way off. He will ask what can be done to have peace.

33. ఆ ప్రకారమే మీలో తనకు కలిగిన దంతయు విడిచి పెట్టనివాడు నా శిష్యుడు కానేరడు.

33. In the same way, whoever does not give up all that he has, cannot be My follower.

34. ఉప్పు మంచిదేగాని ఉప్పు నిస్సారమైతే దేనివలన దానికి సారము కలుగును?

34. 'Salt is good. But if salt has lost its taste, how can it be made to taste like salt again?

35. అది భూమికైనను ఎరువుకైనను పనికిరాదు గనుక దానిని బయట పారవేయుదురు. వినుటకు చెవులుగలవాడు వినునుగాక అని వారితో చెప్పెను.

35. It is no good for the field or the waste place. Men throw it away. You have ears, then listen!'
