1. విశ్రాంతిదినమున ఆయన భోజనము చేయుటకు పరిసయ్యుల అధికారులలో ఒకని యింటిలోనికి వెళ్లినప్పుడు, ఆయన ఏమి చేయునో అని వారాయనను కనిపెట్టు చుండిరి.

1. And it chanced that he went into the house of one of the chief pharisees to eat bread, on a Sabbath day: and they watched him.

2. అప్పుడు జలోదర రోగముగల యొకడు ఆయన యెదుట ఉండెను.

2. And behold there was a man before him, which had the dropsy.

3. యేసు విశ్రాంతిదినమున స్వస్థపరచుట న్యాయమా కాదా?

3. And Jesus answered and spake unto the lawyers(scribes) and pharisees, saying: is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath day?

4. అని ధర్మశాస్త్రోపదేశ కులను పరిసయ్యులను అడుగగా వారూరకుండిరి. అప్పు డాయన వానిని చేరదీసి స్వస్థపరచి పంపివేసి

4. And they held their peace. (And) He took the man(him) and healed him, and let him go:

5. మీలో ఎవని గాడిదయైనను ఎద్దయినను గుంటలో పడినయెడల విశ్రాంతిదినమున దానిని పైకి తీయడా? అని వారి నడి గెను.

5. And answered them saying: which of you shall have an ass, or an ox, fallen into a pit, and will not straightway pull him out on the Sabbath day?

6. ఈ మాటలకు వారు ఉత్తరము చెప్పలేకపోయిరి.

6. And they could not answer him again to that.

7. పిలువబడినవారు భోజనపంక్తిని అగ్రపీఠములు ఏర్పరచు కొనుట చూచి ఆయన వారితో ఈ ఉపమానము చెప్పెను.

7. He put forth(told) a similitude to the guests, when he marked how they pressed to the highest rooms,(chose the hyest seats) and said unto them:

8. నిన్నెవరైనను పెండ్లివిందుకు పిలిచినప్పుడు అగ్రపీఠము మీద కూర్చుండవద్దు; ఒకవేళ నీకంటె ఘనుడు అతని చేత పిలువబడగా

8. When thou art bidden to a wedding of any man, sit not down in the highest room, lest a more honorable man than thou be bidden of him,

9. నిన్నును అతనిని పిలిచినవాడు వచ్చి ఇతనికి చోటిమ్మని నీతో చెప్పును, అప్పుడు నీవు సిగ్గు పడి కడపటి చోటున కూర్చుండసాగుదువు.

9. and he that bade both him and thee, come and say to thee: give this man room. And thou then begin with shame to take the lowest room.

10. అయితే నీవు పిలువబడి నప్పుడు, నిన్ను పిలిచినవాడు వచ్చిస్నేహి తుడా, పైచోటికి పొమ్మని నీతో చెప్పులాగున నీవు పోయి కడపటి చోటున కూర్చుండుము; అప్పుడు నీతోకూడ కూర్చుండుము.

10. But rather when thou art bidden, go and sit in the lowest room, that when he that bade thee cometh, he may say unto thee: friend sit up higher. Then shalt thou have praise(worship) in the presence of them that sit at meat with thee.(at the table)

11. తన్ను తాను హెచ్చించుకొను ప్రతివాడును తగ్గింపబడును; తన్నుతాను తగ్గించుకొనువాడు హెచ్చింపబడునని చెప్పెను.

11. For whosoever exalteth himself, shall be brought low. And he that humbleth himself, shall be exalted.

12. మరియు ఆయన తన్ను పిలిచినవానితో ఇట్లనెను నీవు పగటి విందైనను రాత్రి విందైనను చేయునప్పుడు, నీ స్నేహితులనైనను నీ సహోదరులనైనను నీ బంధువుల నైనను ధనవంతులగు నీ పొరుగువారినైనను పిలువవద్దు; వారు ఒకవేళ నిన్ను మరల పిలుతురు గనుక నీకు ప్రత్యుప కారము కలుగును.

12. Then said he also to him that had desired to him to dinner: When thou makest a dinner, or a supper: call not thy friends, nor thy brethren, neither thy kinsmen, nor yet rich neighbours: lest they bid thee again, and make thee recompense.(and a recompense be made thee.)

13. అయితే నీవు విందు చేయునప్పుడు బీదలను అంగహీనులను కుంటివాండ్రను గ్రుడ్డివాండ్రను పిలువుము.

13. But when thou makest a feast, call the poor, the maimed,(cripple) the lame, and the blind,

14. నీకు ప్రత్యుపకారము చేయుటకు వారి కేమియు లేదు గనుక నీవు ధన్యుడవగుదువు; నీతిమంతుల పునరుత్థానమందు నీవు ప్రత్యుపకారము పొందుదువని చెప్పెను.

14. and thou shalt be happy:(blessed) For they cannot recompense thee. But thou shalt be recompensed at the resurrection of the just men.(righteous)

15. ఆయనతో కూడ భోజనపంక్తిని కూర్చుండినవారిలో ఒకడు ఈ మాటలు వినిదేవుని రాజ్యములో భోజనము చేయువాడు ధన్యుడని ఆయనతో చెప్పగా

15. When one of them that sat at meat also heard that, he said unto him: happy(Blessed) is he that eateth bread in the kingdom of God.

16. ఆయన అతనితో నిట్లనెను ఒక మనుష్యుడు గొప్ప విందు చేయించి అనేకులను పిలిచెను.

16. Then said he to him: A certain man ordained(made) a great supper, and bade many,(called many thereto)

17. విందుకాలమందు అతడు ఇప్పుడు సిద్ధమైయున్నది, రండని పిలువబడినవారితో చెప్పుటకు తన దాసుని పంపెను.

17. and sent his servant at supper time, to say to them that were bidden, come: for all things are now ready.

18. అయితే వారందరు ఏకమనస్సుతో నెపములు చెప్ప సాగిరి. మొదటివాడు నేనొక పొలము కొనియున్నాను, అవశ్యముగా వెళ్లిదాని చూడవలెను, నన్ను క్షమింపవలెనని నిన్ను వేడుకొనుచున్నాననెను.

18. And they all at once began to make excuse. The first said unto him: I have bought a farm, and I must needs go and see it, I pray thee have me excused.

19. మరియెకడు నేను అయిదు జతల యెడ్లను కొనియున్నాను, వాటిని పరీక్షింప వెళ్లుచున్నాను, నన్ను క్షమింపవలెనని వేడుకొనుచున్నాననెను.

19. And another said: I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I must go to prove them, I pray thee have me excused.

20. మరి యొకడునేనొక స్త్రీని వివాహము చేసికొన్నాను; అందుచేత నేను రాలేననెను.

20. The third said: I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.

21. అప్పుడా దాసుడు తిరిగి వచ్చి యీ మాటలు తన యజమానునికి తెలియజేయగా, ఆ యింటి యజ మానుడు కోపపడినీవు త్వరగాపట్టణపు వీధులలోనికిని సందులలోనికిని వెళ్లి, బీదలను అంగహీనులను కుంటివారిని గ్రుడ్డివారిని ఇక్కడికి తోడుకొనిరమ్మని ఆ దాసునితో చెప్పెను

21. And the servant went again, and brought his master word thereof. Then was the good man of the house displeased, and said to his servant: Go out quickly into the streets and quarters of the city, and bring in hither the poor, and the maimed,(cripple) and the halt,(lame) and the blind.

22. అంతట దాసుడు ప్రభువా, నీ వాజ్ఞాపించినట్టు చేసితినిగాని యింకను చోటున్నదని చెప్పెను.

22. And the servant said: lord it is done as thou commandedst, and yet there is room.

23. అందుకు యజమానుడు - నా యిల్లు నిండు నట్లు నీవు రాజమార్గములలోనికిని కంచెలలోనికిని వెళ్లి లోపలికి వచ్చుటకు అక్కడివారిని బలవంతము చేయుము;

23. And the lord said to the servant: Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.

24. ఏలయనగా పిలువబడిన ఆ మనుష్యులలో ఒకడును నా విందు రుచిచూడడని మీతో చెప్పుచున్నాననెను.

24. For I say unto you, that none of those men which were bidden, shall taste of my supper.

25. బహు జనసమూహములు ఆయనతో కూడ వెళ్లు చున్నప్పుడు ఆయన వారితట్టు తిరిగి

25. There went a great company(much people) with him, and he turned and said unto them:

26. ఎవడైనను నా యొద్దకు వచ్చి తన తండ్రిని తల్లిని భార్యను పిల్లలను అన్న దమ్ములను అక్కచెల్లెండ్రను తన ప్రాణమును సహా ద్వేషింపకుంటే వాడు నా శిష్యుడు కానేరడు.
ద్వితీయోపదేశకాండము 33:9

26. If a man come to me, and hate not his father and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, moreover and his own life, he cannot be my disciple.

27. మరియు ఎవడైనను తన సిలువను మోసికొని నన్ను వెంబడింపని యెడల వాడు నా శిష్యుడు కానేరడు.

27. And whosoever bear not his cross, and come after(followeth) me cannot be my disciple.

28. మీలో ఎవడైనను ఒక గోపురము కట్టింప గోరిన యెడల దానిని కొనసాగించుటకు కావలసినది తన యొద్ద ఉన్నదో లేదో అని కూర్చుండి తగులుబడి మొదట లెక్కచూచుకొనడా?

28. Which of you is he that is disposed to build a tower, and sitteth not down before(first) and counteth the cost: Whether he have sufficient to perform it?

29. చూచుకొననియెడల అతడు దాని పునాదివేసి, ఒకవేళ దానిని కొనసాగింప లేక పోయినందున

29. lest after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to perform it, all that behold it, begin to mock him(laugh him to scorn)

30. చూచువారందరు ఈ మనుష్యుడు కట్ట మొదలుపెట్టెను గాని కొన సాగింపలేక పోయెనని అతని చూచి యెగతాళి చేయ సాగుదురు.

30. saying: This man began to build, and was not able to make an end.(perform it)

31. మరియు ఏ రాజైనను మరియొక రాజుతో యుద్ధము చేయబోవునప్పుడు తనమీదికి ఇరువదివేల మందితో వచ్చువానిని పదివేలమందితో ఎదిరింప శక్తి తనకు కలదో లేదో అని కూర్చుండి మొదట ఆలోచింపడా?

31. (Or) What king goeth to make battle against another king, and sitteth not down first, and casteth in his mind, whether he be able with ten thousand to meet him that cometh against him with twenty thousand,

32. శక్తి లేనియెడల అతడింకను దూరముగా ఉన్నప్పుడే రాయబారము పంపి సమాధానము చేసికొన చూచును గదా.

32. or else while the other is yet a great way off, he will send ambassadors, and desire peace.

33. ఆ ప్రకారమే మీలో తనకు కలిగిన దంతయు విడిచి పెట్టనివాడు నా శిష్యుడు కానేరడు.

33. So likewise, none of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, can be my disciple.

34. ఉప్పు మంచిదేగాని ఉప్పు నిస్సారమైతే దేనివలన దానికి సారము కలుగును?

34. Salt is good, but if salt be corrupt,(have lost her saltiness)(unsavory) what shall be seasoned therewith?(withall)

35. అది భూమికైనను ఎరువుకైనను పనికిరాదు గనుక దానిని బయట పారవేయుదురు. వినుటకు చెవులుగలవాడు వినునుగాక అని వారితో చెప్పెను.

35. It is neither good for the land, nor yet for the dunghill, (but) men cast it out at the doors.(but shall be cast away) He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
