1. దాదాపు అదే కాలమందు రాజైన హేరోదు సంఘపువారిలో కొందరిని బాధపెట్టుటకు బలాత్కారముగా పట్టుకొని

1. In that time Herod the king layed(streched forth his) hands on(to vex) certain of the congregation, to vex them.

2. యోహాను సహోదరుడైన యాకోబును ఖడ్గముతో చంపించెను.

2. And he killed James the brother of John with a(the) sword:

3. ఇది యూదులకు ఇష్టమైన కార్యమని తెలిసికొని పేతురునుకూడ పట్టుకొనెను. ఆ దినములు పులియని రొట్టెల పండుగ దినములు.

3. and because he saw that it pleased the jews, he proceeded further, to take(took) Peter also. Then were the days of unleavened(sweet) bread,

4. అతనిని పట్టుకొని చెరసాలలో వేయించి, పస్కా పండుగైన పిమ్మట ప్రజలయొద్దకు అతని తేవలెనని ఉద్దేశించి, అతనికి కావలియుండుటకు నాలుగు చతుష్టయముల సైని కులకు అతనిని అప్పగించెను.

4. and when he had caught him, he put him in prison, and delivered him to four quaternions of soldiers to be kept, intending after ester to bring him forth to the people.

5. పేతురు చెరసాలలో ఉంచ బడెను, సంఘమయితే అతనికొరకు అత్యాసక్తితో దేవునికి ప్రార్థనచేయుచుండెను.

5. Then was Peter kept in prison. But prayer was made without ceasing of the congregation unto God for him.

6. హేరోదు అతనిని వెలుపలికి తీసికొని రావలెననియుండగా, ఆ రాత్రియే పేతురు రెండు సంకెళ్లతో బంధింపబడి యిద్దరు సైనికుల మధ్య నిద్రించు చుండెను; మరియు కావలివారు తలుపు ఎదుట చెరసాల కాచుకొనుచుండిరి.

6. (And) When Herod would have brought him out unto the people, the same night slept Peter between two soldiers, bound with two chains; And the keepers before the door kept the prison.

7. ఇదిగో ప్రభువు దూత అతనిదగ్గర నిలిచెను; అతడుండిన గదిలో వెలుగు ప్రకాశించెను. దూత పేతురు ప్రక్కను తట్టిత్వరగా లెమ్మని చెప్పి అతని లేపగా సంకెళ్లు అతని చేతులనుండి ఊడిపడెను.

7. And behold the angel of the Lord was there present, and a light shined in the lodge. And he smote Peter on the side, and stirred(waked) him up saying: arise up quickly. And the(his) chains fell off from his hands.

8. అప్పుడు దూత అతనితో నీవు నడుము కట్టుకొని చెప్పులు తొడుగుకొనుమనెను. అతడాలాగు చేసిన తరువాత దూత నీ వస్త్రము పైన వేసికొని నా వెంబడి రమ్మని అతనితో చెప్పెను.

8. And the angel said unto him: gird thyself and bind on thy sandals; And so he did. And he said unto him: cast on thy mantle about thee, and follow me.

9. అతడు వెలుపలికి వచ్చి దూత వెంబడి వెళ్లి, దూతవలన జరిగినది నిజముగా జరిగెనని గ్రహింపక, తనకు దర్శనము కలిగెనని తలంచెను.

9. And he came out and followed him, and wist not, that it was truth which was done by the angel, but thought he had seen a vision.

10. మొదటి కావలిని రెండవ కావలిని దాటి పట్టణమునకు పోవు ఇనుప గవినియొద్దకు వచ్చినప్పుడు దానంతట అదే వారికి తెరచుకొనెను. వారు బయలుదేరి యొక వీధి దాటినవెంటనే దూత అతనిని విడిచిపోయెను.

10. When they were past the first and the second watch, they came unto the iron gate, that leadeth unto the city, which opened to them by his own accord. And they went out and passed thorow one street, and by and by the angel departed from him.

11. పేతురుకు తెలివివచ్చి ప్రభువు తన దూతను పంపి హేరోదు చేతిలోనుండియు, యూదులను ప్రజలు నాకు చేయ నుద్దేశించిన వాటన్నిటినుండియు నన్ను తప్పించి యున్నాడని యిప్పుడు నాకు నిజముగా తెలియునని అనుకొనెను.

11. And when Peter was come to himself, he said: now I know of a surety,(trueth) that the Lord hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me from(out of) the hand of Herod, and from all the waiting for of the people of the jews.

12. ఇట్లు ఆలోచించుకొని అతడు మార్కు అను మారు పేరుగల యోహాను తల్లియైన మరియ యింటికి వచ్చెను; అక్కడ అనే కులుకూడి ప్రార్థనచేయుచుండిరి.

12. And as he considered the thing, he came to the house of Mary the mother of one John, which was called Mark also, where many were gathered together in prayer.

13. అతడు తలవాకిటి తలుపు తట్టుచుండగా, రొదే అను ఒక చిన్నది ఆలకించుటకు వచ్చెను.

13. As Peter knocked at the entry door, a damsel came forth to hearken, named Rhoda.

14. ఆమె పేతురు స్వరము గుర్తుపట్టి, సంతోషముచేత తలుపుతీయక లోపలికి పరుగెతికొని పోయిపేతురు తలుపు దగ్గర నిలుచున్నాడని తెలిపెను.

14. And when she knew Peter's voice, she opened not the entry for gladness, but ran in and told how Peter stood before the entry.

15. అందుకు వారునీవు పిచ్చిదానవనిరి; అయితే తాను చెప్పినదే నిజమని ఆమె దృఢముగా చెప్పినప్పుడు వారు అతని దూత అనిరి.

15. And they said unto her: thou art mad. And she bare them down that it was even so. Then said they: it is his angel.

16. పేతురు ఇంకను తట్టుచున్నందున వారు తలుపు తీసి అతనిని చూచి విభ్రాంతి నొందిరి.

16. Peter continued knocking: When they had opened the door, and saw him, they were astonied.

17. అతడు ఊరకుండుడని వారికి చేసైగచేసి, ప్రభువు తన్ను చెరసాలలోనుండి యేలాగు తీసికొనివచ్చెనో వారికి వివరించి యాకోబుకును సహోదరులకును ఈ సంగతులు తెలియజేయుడని చెప్పి బయలుదేరి వేరొక చోటికి వెళ్ళెను.

17. (And) He beckoned unto them with his(the) hand to hold their peace, and told them by what means the Lord had brought him out of the prison. And (he) said: go shew this(these things) unto James and to the brethren. And he departed and went into another place.

18. తెల్లవారగనే పేతురు ఏమాయెనో అని సైనికులలో కలిగిన గలిబిలి యింతంతకాదు.

18. As soon as it was day there was no little ado among the soldiers, what was become of Peter.

19. హేరోదు అతనికోసరము వెదకినప్పుడు అతడు కనబడనందున కావలి వారిని విమర్శించి వారిని చంప నాజ్ఞాపించెను. అటు తరువాత హేరోదు యూదయ నుండి కైసరయకు వెళ్లి అక్కడ నివసించెను.

19. When Herod had called for him, and found him not, he examined the keepers, and commanded(them) to depart. And he descended from Jewry to Cesarea, and there abode.

20. తూరీయులమీదను సీదోనీయులమీదను అతనికి అత్యా గ్రహము కలిగినందున వారేకమనస్సుతో రాజునొద్దకు వచ్చి అంతఃపురమునకు పైవిచారణకర్తయగు బ్లాస్తును తమ పక్షముగా చేసికొని సమాధాన పడవలెనని వేడుకొనిరి; ఎందుకనగా రాజుయొక్క దేశమునుండి వారి దేశమునకు గ్రాసము వచ్చుచుండెను.

20. Herod was displeased with them of Tyre and Sidon. And they came all at once,(came unto him with one accord) and made intercession unto Blastus the king's chamberlain, and desired peace, because their country was nourished by the king's land.

21. నియమింపబడిన దినమందు హేరోదు రాజవస్త్రములు ధరించుకొని న్యాయపీఠము మీద కూర్చుండి వారి యెదుట ఉపన్యాసముచేయగా

21. (And) Upon a day appointed, the king(Herod) arrayed him in royal apparel, and set him in his seat, and made an oration unto them.

22. జనులుఇది దైవస్వరమేకాని మానవస్వరముకాదని కేకలు వేసిరి.
యెహెఙ్కేలు 28:2

22. And the people gave a shout, saying: It is the voice of a God and not of a man.

23. అతడు దేవుని మహిమపరచనందున వెంటనే ప్రభువు దూత అతని మొత్తెను గనుక పురుగులు పడి ప్రాణము విడిచెను.

23. And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the honour, and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost.

24. దేవుని వాక్యము ప్రబలమై వ్యాపించుచుండెను.

24. (And) The word of God grew and multiplied.

25. బర్నబాయు సౌలును తమ పరిచర్య నెరవేర్చిన తరువాత మార్కు అను మారు పేరుగల యోహానును వెంటబెట్టుకొని యెరూషలేమునుండి తిరిగి వచ్చిరి.

25. And Barnabas and Saul(Paul) returned to Jerusalem, and(when they had) fulfilled their office, and took with them John, which was also called Marcus.
