1. Paul and Silas traveled through the cities of Amphipolis and Apollonia. They came to the city of Thessalonica, where there was a Jewish synagogue.

2. గనుక పౌలు తన వాడుక చొప్పున సమాజపు వారియొద్దకు వెళ్లిక్రీస్తు శ్రమపడి మృతులలోనుండి లేచుట ఆవశ్యకమనియు,

2. Paul went into the synagogue to see the Jews as he always did. The next three weeks, on each Sabbath day, he discussed the Scriptures with them.

3. నేను మీకు ప్రచురముచేయు యేసే క్రీస్తయియున్నాడనియు లేఖనములలోనుండి దృష్టాంతములనెత్తి విప్పి చెప్పుచు, వారితో మూడువిశ్రాంతి దినములు తర్కించుచుండెను.

3. He explained the Scriptures to show them that the Christ had to die and then rise from death. He said, 'This Jesus that I am telling you about is the Christ.'

4. వారిలో కొందరును, భక్తిపరులగు గ్రీసుదేశస్థులలో చాలమందియు, ఘనతగల స్త్రీలలో అనేకులును ఒప్పుకొని పౌలుతోను సీలతోను కలిసికొనిరి.

4. Some of the Jews there believed Paul and Silas and decided to join them. Also, a large number of Greeks who were worshipers of the true God and many important women joined them.

5. అయితే యూదులు మత్సరపడి, పనిపాటులు లేక తిరుగుకొందరు దుష్టులను వెంటబెట్టు కొని గుంపుకూర్చి పట్టణమెల్ల అల్లరిచేయుచు, యాసోను ఇంటిమీదపడి వారిని జనుల సభయెదుటికి తీసికొని వచ్చుటకు యత్నముచేసిరి.

5. But the Jews who did not believe became jealous, so they got some bad men from around the city center to make trouble. They formed a mob and caused a riot in the city. They went to Jason's house, looking for Paul and Silas. They wanted to bring them out before the people.

6. అయితే వారు కనబడనందున యాసోనును కొందరు సహోదరులను ఆ పట్టణపు అధికారులయొద్దకు ఈడ్చుకొనిపోయి భూలోకమును తలక్రిందుచేసిన వీరు ఇక్కడికి కూడ వచ్చి యున్నారు; యాసోను వీరిని చేర్చుకొనియున్నాడు.

6. When they did not find them, they dragged Jason and some of the other believers to the city leaders. The people shouted, 'These men have made trouble everywhere in the world, and now they have come here too!

7. వీరందరు యేసు అను వేరొక రాజున్నాడని చెప్పి, కైసరు చట్టములకు విరోధముగా నడుచుకొనువారు అని కేకలువేసిరి.

7. Jason is keeping them in his house. They all do things against the laws of Caesar. They say there is another king called Jesus.'

8. ఈ మాటలు వినుచున్న జనసమూహమును పట్టణపు అధికారులను కలవరపరచిరి.

8. When the city leaders and the other people heard this, they became very upset.

9. వారు యాసోనునొద్దను మిగిలినవారియొద్దను జామీను తీసికొని వారిని విడుదల చేసిరి.

9. They made Jason and the other believers deposit money to guarantee that there would be no more trouble. Then they let them go.

10. వెంటనే సహోదరులు రాత్రివేళ పౌలును సీలను బెరయకు పంపించిరి. వారు వచ్చి యూదుల సమాజ మందిరములో ప్రవేశించిరి.

10. That same night the believers sent Paul and Silas to another city named Berea. When they arrived there, they went to the Jewish synagogue.

11. వీరు థెస్సలొనీకలో ఉన్న వారికంటె ఘనులైయుండిరి గనుక ఆసక్తితో వాక్యమును అంగీకరించి, పౌలును సీలయును చెప్పిన సంగతులు ఆలాగున్నవో లేవో అని ప్రతిదినమును లేఖనములు పరిశోధించుచు వచ్చిరి.

11. The people in Berea were more open-minded than those in Thessalonica. They were so glad to hear the message Paul told them. They studied the Scriptures every day to make sure that what they heard was really true.

12. అందుచేత వారిలో అనేకులును, ఘనతగల గ్రీసుదేశస్థులైన స్త్రీలలోను పురుషులలోను చాలమందియు విశ్వసించిరి.

12. The result was that many of them believed, including many important Greek women and men.

13. అయితే బెరయలోకూడ పౌలు దేవుని వాక్యము ప్రచురించుచున్నాడని థెస్సలొనీకలో ఉండు యూదులు తెలిసికొని అక్కడికిని వచ్చి జనసమూహములను రేపి కలవరపరచిరి.

13. But when the Jews in Thessalonica learned that Paul was telling people God's message in Berea, they came there too. They upset the people and made trouble.

14. వెంటనే సహోదరులు పౌలును సముద్రమువరకు వెళ్లుమని పంపిరి; అయితే సీలయు తిమోతియు అక్కడనే నిలిచిపోయిరి.

14. So the believers immediately sent Paul away to the coast, but Silas and Timothy stayed in Berea.

15. పౌలును సాగనంప వెళ్లినవారు అతనిని ఏథెన్సు పట్టణము వరకు తోడుకొని వచ్చి, సీలయు తిమోతియు సాధ్యమైనంత శీఘ్రముగా అతనియొద్దకు రావలెనని ఆజ్ఞపొంది బయలుదేరి పోయిరి.

15. Those who went with Paul took him to the city of Athens. They returned with a message for Silas and Timothy to come and join him as soon as they could.

16. పౌలు ఏథెన్సులో వారికొరకు కనిపెట్టుకొని యుండగా, ఆ పట్టణము విగ్రహములతో నిండియుండుట చూచినందున అతని ఆత్మ పరితాపము పట్టలేకపోయెను.

16. While Paul was waiting for Silas and Timothy in Athens, he was upset because he saw that the city was full of idols.

17. కాబట్టి సమాజమందిరములలో యూదులతోను, భక్తిపరులైన వారితోను ప్రతిదినమున సంతవీధిలో తన్ను కలిసికొను వారితోను తర్కించుచు వచ్చెను.

17. In the synagogue he talked with the Jews and with the Greeks who were worshipers of the true God. He also went to the public square every day and talked with everyone who came by.

18. ఎపికూరీయులలోను స్తోయికులలోను ఉన్న కొందరు జ్ఞానులు అతనితో వాదించిరి. కొందరు ఈ వదరుబోతు చెప్పునది ఏమిటని చెప్పుకొనిరి. అతడు యేసునుగూర్చియు పునురుత్థానమును గూర్చియు ప్రకటించెను గనుక మరికొందరు వీడు అన్య దేవతలను ప్రచురించుచున్నాడని చెప్పుకొనిరి.

18. Some of the Epicurean and some of the Stoic philosophers argued with him. Some of them said, 'This man doesn't really know what he is talking about. What is he trying to say?' Paul was telling them the Good News about Jesus and the resurrection. So they said, 'He seems to be telling us about some other gods.'

19. అంతట వారు అతని వెంటబెట్టుకొని అరేయొపగు అను సభ యొద్దకు తీసికొనిపోయినీవు చేయుచున్న యీ నూతన బోధ యెట్టిదో మేము తెలిసికొనవచ్చునా?

19. They took Paul to a meeting of the Areopagus council. They said, 'Please explain to us this new idea that you have been teaching.

20. కొన్ని క్రొత్త సంగతులు మా చెవులకు వినిపించుచున్నావు గనుక వీటి భావమేమో మేము తెలిసికొన గోరుచున్నామని చెప్పిరి.

20. The things you are saying are new to us. We have never heard this teaching before, and we want to know what it means.'

21. ఏథెన్సువారందరును అక్కడ నివసించు పరదేశులును ఏదోయొక క్రొత్త సంగతి చెప్పుట యందును వినుటయందును మాత్రమే తమ కాలము గడుపు చుండువారు.

21. (The people of Athens and the foreigners who lived there spent all their time either telling or listening to all the latest ideas.)

22. పౌలు అరేయొపగు మధ్య నిలిచిచెప్పిన దేమనగా ఏథెన్సువారలారా, మీరు సమస్త విషయములలో అతి దేవతాభక్తిగలవారై యున్నట్టు నాకు కనబడు చున్నది.

22. Then Paul stood up before the meeting of the Areopagus council and said, 'Men of Athens, everything I see here tells me you are very religious.

23. నేను సంచరించుచు మీ దేవతా ప్రతిమలను చూచుచుండగా ఒక బలిపీఠము నాకు కనబడెను. దాని మీదతెలియబడని దేవునికి అని వ్రాయబడియున్నది. కాబట్టి మీరు తెలియక దేనియందు భక్తికలిగియున్నారో దానినే నేను మీకు ప్రచురపరచుచున్నాను.

23. I was going through your city and I saw the things you worship. I found an altar that had these words written on it: 'to an unknown god.' You worship a god that you don't know. This is the God I want to tell you about.

24. He is the God who made the whole world and everything in it. He is the Lord of the land and the sky. He does not live in temples built by human hands.

25. He is the one who gives people life, breath, and everything else they need. He does not need any help from them. He has everything he needs.

26. God began by making one man, and from him he made all the different people who live everywhere in the world. He decided exactly when and where they would live.

27. God wanted people to look for him, and perhaps in searching all around for him, they would find him. But he is not far from any of us.

28. మనమాయనయందు బ్రదుకుచున్నాము, చలించు చున్నాము, ఉనికి కలిగియున్నాము. అటువలెమన మాయన సంతానమని మీ కవీశ్వరులలో కొందరును చెప్పుచున్నారు.

28. It is through him that we are able to live, to do what we do, and to be who we are. As your own poets have said, 'We all come from him.'

29. కాబట్టి మనము దేవుని సంతానమైయుండి, మనుష్యుల చమత్కార కల్పనలవలన మల్చబడిన బంగారమునైనను వెండినైనను రాతినైనను దేవత్వము పోలి యున్నదని తలంపకూడదు.

29. That's right. We all come from God. So you must not think that he is like something people imagine or make. He is not made of gold, silver, or stone.

30. ఆ అజ్ఞానకాలములను దేవుడు చూచి చూడనట్టుగా ఉండెను; ఇప్పుడైతే అంతటను అందరును మారుమనస్సు పొందవలెనని మనుష్యులకు ఆజ్ఞాపించుచున్నాడు.

30. In the past people did not understand God, and he overlooked this. But now he is telling everyone in the world to change and turn to him.

31. ఎందుకనగా తాను నియమించిన మనుష్యునిచేత నీతి ననుసరించి భూలోకమునకు తీర్పుతీర్చ బోయెడి యొక దినమును నిర్ణయించి యున్నాడు. మృతులలోనుండి ఆయనను లేపినందున దీని నమ్ముటకు అందరికిని ఆధారము కలుగజేసియున్నాడు.

31. He has decided on a day when he will judge all the people in the world in a way that is fair. To do this he will use a man he chose long ago. And he has proved to everyone that this is the man to do it. He proved it by raising him from death!'

32. మృతుల పునరుత్థానమునుగూర్చి వారు వినినప్పుడు కొందరు అపహాస్యముచేసిరి; మరికొందరుదీనిగూర్చి నీవు చెప్పునది ఇంకొకసారి విందుమని చెప్పిరి.

32. When the people heard about Jesus being raised from death, some of them laughed. But others said, 'We will hear more about this from you later.'

33. ఆలాగుండగా పౌలు వారి మధ్యనుండి వెళ్లిపోయెను.

33. So Paul left the council meeting.

34. అయితే కొందరు మనుష్యులు అతని హత్తుకొని విశ్వసించిరి. వారిలో అరేయొపగీతుడైన దియొనూసియు, దమరి అను ఒక స్త్రీయు, వీరితోకూడ మరికొందరునుండిరి.

34. But some of the people joined with Paul and became believers. Among these were Dionysius, a member of the Areopagus council, a woman named Damaris, and some others.
