1. మీ కొరకును, లవొదికయ వారి కొరకును, శరీర రీతిగా నా ముఖము చూడనివారందరికొరకును

1. FOR I want you to know how great is my solicitude for you [how severe an inward struggle I am engaged in for you] and for those [believers] at Laodicea, and for all who [like yourselves] have never seen my face and known me personally.

2. నేను ఎంతగా పోరాడుచున్నానో మీరు తెలిసికొనగోరు చున్నాను. వారు ప్రేమయందు అతుకబడి, సంపూర్ణ గ్రహింపుయొక్క సకలైశ్వర్యము కలిగినవారై, దేవుని మర్మమైయున్న క్రీస్తును, స్పష్టముగా తెలిసికొన్నవారై, తమ హృదయములలో ఆదరణపొందవలెనని వారందరి కొరకు పోరాడుచున్నాను.

2. [For my concern is] that their hearts may be braced (comforted, cheered, and encouraged) as they are knit together in love, that they may come to have all the abounding wealth and blessings of assured conviction of understanding, and that they may become progressively more intimately acquainted with and may know more definitely and accurately and thoroughly that mystic secret of God, [which is] Christ (the Anointed One).

3. బుద్ధి జ్ఞానముల సర్వ సంపదలు ఆయనయందే గుప్తములైయున్నవి.

3. In Him all the treasures of [divine] wisdom (comprehensive insight into the ways and purposes of God) and [all the riches of spiritual] knowledge and enlightenment are stored up and lie hidden.

4. ఎవడైనను చక్కని మాటలచేత మిమ్మును మోసపరచకుండునట్లు ఈ సంగతిని చెప్పుచున్నాను.

4. I say this in order that no one may mislead and delude you by plausible and persuasive and attractive arguments and beguiling speech.

5. నేను శరీరవిషయములో దూరముగా ఉన్నను ఆత్మవిషయములో మీతోకూడ ఉండి, మీ యోగ్యమైన ప్రవర్తనను క్రీస్తునందలి మీ స్థిరవిశ్వాసమును చూచి ఆనందించుచున్నాను.

5. For though I am away from you in body, yet I am with you in spirit, delighted at the sight of your [standing shoulder to shoulder in such] orderly array and the firmness and the solid front and steadfastness of your faith in Christ [that leaning of the entire human personality on Him in absolute trust and confidence in His power, wisdom, and goodness].

6. కావున మీరు ప్రభువైన క్రీస్తుయేసును అంగీకరించిన విధముగా ఆయనయందు వేరుపారినవారై, యింటివలె కట్టబడుచు,

6. As you have therefore received Christ, [even] Jesus the Lord, [so] walk (regulate your lives and conduct yourselves) in union with and conformity to Him.

7. మీరు నేర్చుకొనిన ప్రకారముగా విశ్వాసమందు స్థిరపరచబడుచు, కృతజ్ఞతాస్తుతులు చెల్లించుటయందు విస్తరించుచు, ఆయనయందుండి నడుచుకొనుడి.

7. Have the roots [of your being] firmly and deeply planted [in Him, fixed and founded in Him], being continually built up in Him, becoming increasingly more confirmed and established in the faith, just as you were taught, and abounding and overflowing in it with thanksgiving.

8. ఆయనను అనుసరింపక మనుష్యుల పారంపర్యాచార మును, అనగా ఈ లోకసంబంధమైన మూలపాఠములను అనుసరించి మోసకరమైన నిరర్థక తత్వ జ్ఞానముచేత మిమ్మును చెరపట్టుకొని పోవువాడెవడైన ఉండునేమో అని జాగ్రత్తగా ఉండుడి.

8. See to it that no one carries you off as spoil or makes you yourselves captive by his so-called philosophy and intellectualism and vain deceit (idle fancies and plain nonsense), following human tradition (men's ideas of the material rather than the spiritual world), just crude notions following the rudimentary and elemental teachings of the universe and disregarding [the teachings of] Christ (the Messiah).

9. ఏలయనగా దేవత్వముయొక్క సర్వపరిపూర్ణత శరీరముగా క్రీస్తునందు నివసించు చున్నది;

9. For in Him the whole fullness of Deity (the Godhead) continues to dwell in bodily form [giving complete expression of the divine nature].

10. మరియు ఆయనయందు మీరును సంపూర్ణులై యున్నారు; ఆయన సమస్త ప్రధానులకును అధికారులకును శిరస్సై యున్నాడు;

10. And you are in Him, made full and having come to fullness of life [in Christ you too are filled with the Godhead--Father, Son and Holy Spirit--and reach full spiritual stature]. And He is the Head of all rule and authority [of every angelic principality and power].

11. మీరును, క్రీస్తు సున్నతియందు, శరీరేచ్ఛలతో కూడిన స్వభావమును విసర్జించి ఆయనయందు చేతులతో చేయబడని సున్నతి పొందితిరి.

11. In Him also you were circumcised with a circumcision not made with hands, but in a [spiritual] circumcision [performed by] Christ by stripping off the body of the flesh (the whole corrupt, carnal nature with its passions and lusts).

12. మీరు బాప్తిస్మ మందు ఆయనతో కూడ పాతిపెట్టబడినవారై ఆయనను మృతులలోనుండి లేపిన దేవుని ప్రభావమందు విశ్వసించుట ద్వారా ఆయనతోకూడ లేచితిరి.

12. [Thus you were circumcised when] you were buried with Him in [your] baptism, in which you were also raised with Him [to a new life] through [your] faith in the working of God [as displayed] when He raised Him up from the dead.

13. మరియు అపరాధముల వలనను, శరీరమందు సున్నతిపొందక యుండుటవలనను, మీరు మృతులై యుండగా,

13. And you who were dead in trespasses and in the uncircumcision of your flesh (your sensuality, your sinful carnal nature), [God] brought to life together with [Christ], having [freely] forgiven us all our transgressions,

14. దేవుడు వ్రాతరూపకమైన ఆజ్ఞలవలన మనమీద ఋణముగాను మనకు విరోధముగాను నుండిన పత్రమును మేకులతో సిలువకు కొట్టి, దానిమీది చేవ్రాతను తుడిచివేసి, మనకు అడ్డములేకుండ దానిని ఎత్తి వేసి మన అపరాధములనన్నిటిని క్షమించి,

14. Having cancelled and blotted out and wiped away the handwriting of the note (bond) with its legal decrees and demands which was in force and stood against us (hostile to us). This [note with its regulations, decrees, and demands] He set aside and cleared completely out of our way by nailing it to [His] cross.

15. ఆయనతోకూడ మిమ్మును జీవింపచేసెను;ఆయన ప్రధానులను అధికారులను నిరాయుధులనుగాచేసి, సిలువచేత జయోత్సవముతో వారిని పట్టి తెచ్చి బాహాటముగా వేడుకకు కనుపరచెను.

15. [God] disarmed the principalities and powers that were ranged against us and made a bold display and public example of them, in triumphing over them in Him and in it [the cross].

16. కాబట్టి అన్నపానముల విషయములోనైనను, పండుగ అమావాస్య విశ్రాంతిదినము అనువాటి విషయములోనైనను, మీకు తీర్పు తీర్చ నెవనికిని అవకాశమియ్యకుడి.

16. Therefore let no one sit in judgment on you in matters of food and drink, or with regard to a feast day or a New Moon or a Sabbath.

17. ఇవి రాబోవువాటి ఛాయయేగాని నిజ స్వరూపము క్రీస్తులో ఉన్నది

17. Such [things] are only the shadow of things that are to come, and they have only a symbolic value. But the reality (the substance, the solid fact of what is foreshadowed, the body of it) belongs to Christ.

18. అతి వినయాసక్తుడై దేవదూతా రాధనయందు ఇచ్ఛకలిగి, తాను చూచినవాటినిగూర్చి గొప్పగా చెప్పుకొనుచు, తన శరీరసంబంధమైన మనస్సువలన ఊరక ఉప్పొంగుచు,

18. Let no one defraud you by acting as an umpire and declaring you unworthy and disqualifying you for the prize, insisting on self-abasement and worship of angels, taking his stand on visions [he claims] he has seen, vainly puffed up by his sensuous notions and inflated by his unspiritual thoughts and fleshly conceit,

19. శిరస్సును హత్తుకొనని వాడెవడును మీ బహుమానమును అపహరింపనియ్యకుడి; ఆ శిరస్సుమూలముగా సర్వశరీరము కీళ్లచేతను నరముల చేతను పోషింపబడి అతుకబడినదై, దేవునివలన కలుగు వృద్ధితో అభివృద్ధి పొందుచున్నది.

19. And not holding fast to the Head, from Whom the entire body, supplied and knit together by means of its joints and ligaments, grows with a growth that is from God.

20. మీరు క్రీస్తుతోకూడ లోకముయొక్క మూలపాఠ ముల విషయమై మృతిపొందినవారైతే లోకములో బ్రదుకు చున్నట్టుగా

20. If then you have died with Christ to material ways of looking at things and have escaped from the world's crude and elemental notions and teachings of externalism, why do you live as if you still belong to the world? [Why do you submit to rules and regulations?--such as]

21. మనుష్యుల ఆజ్ఞలను పద్ధతులను అనుసరించిచేత పట్టుకొనవద్దు, రుచిచూడవద్దు, ముట్టవద్దు అను విధు లకు మీరు లోబడనేల?

21. Do not handle [this], Do not taste [that], Do not even touch [them],

22. అవన్నియు వాడుకొనుటచేత నశించిపోవును.

22. Referring to things all of which perish with being used. To do this is to follow human precepts and doctrines. [Isa. 29:13.]

23. అట్టివి స్వేచ్ఛారాధన విషయములోను వినయ విషయములోను, దేహశిక్ష విషయములోను జ్ఞాన రూపకమైనవనియెంచబడుచున్నవేగాని, శరీరేచ్ఛానిగ్రహ విషయములో ఏమాత్రమును ఎన్నిక చేయదగినవి కావు.

23. Such [practices] have indeed the outward appearance [that popularly passes] for wisdom, in promoting self-imposed rigor of devotion and delight in self-humiliation and severity of discipline of the body, but they are of no value in checking the indulgence of the flesh (the lower nature). [Instead, they do not honor God but serve only to indulge the flesh.]
