1. సమ్సోను తిమ్నాతునకు వెళ్లి తిమ్నాతులో ఫిలిష్తీ యుల కుమార్తెలలో ఒకతెను చూచెను.

1. Samson went down to Thamnath, and saw a woman in Thamnath of the daughters of the Philistines,

2. అతడు తిరిగి వచ్చి తిమ్నాతులో ఫిలిష్తీయుల కుమార్తెలలో ఒకతెను చూచితిని, మీరు ఆమెను నాకిచ్చి పెండ్లి చేయవలెనని తన తలిదండ్రులతో అనగా

2. and came up and told his father and his mother, and said: I have seen a woman in Thamnath of the daughters of the Philistines. And now give her me to wife.

3. వారునీ స్వజనుల కుమార్తెల లోనేగాని నా జనులలోనేగాని స్త్రీ లేదను కొని, సున్నతి పొందని ఫిలిష్తీయులలోనుండి కన్యను తెచ్చుకొనుటకు వెళ్లు చున్నావా? అని అతని నడిగిరి. అందుకు సమ్సోనుఆమె నాకిష్టమైనది గనుక ఆమెను నాకొరకు తెప్పించుమని తన తండ్రితో చెప్పెను.

3. Then his father and mother said unto him, is there never a woman of the daughters of thy brethren, among all my people: but that thou must go and fetch a wife of the uncircumcised Philistines? And Samson said unto his father, give me this woman for she pleaseth me well.

4. అయితే ఫిలిష్తీయులకేమైన చేయు టకై యెహోవాచేత అతడు రేపబడెనన్న మాట అతని తలిదండ్రులు తెలిసికొనలేదు. ఆ కాలమున ఫిలిష్తీ యులు ఇశ్రాయేలీయులను ఏలుచుండిరి.

4. But his father and mother wist(knew) not that it was the LORD's doing, and that he sought an occasion of the Philistines, which at that time reigned over Israel.

5. అప్పుడు సమ్సోను తన తలిదండ్రులతోకూడ తిమ్నాతు నకుపోయి, తిమ్నాతు ద్రాక్షతోటలవరకు వచ్చినప్పుడు, కొదమసింహము అతని యెదుటికి బొబ్బరించుచువచ్చెను.

5. Then went Samson and his father and his mother down to Thamnath. And when they came to the vineyards of Thamnath: behold a young lion roared upon him.

6. యెహోవా ఆత్మ అతనిని ప్రేరేపింపగా అతనిచేతిలో ఏమియు లేకపోయినను, ఒకడు మేకపిల్లను చీల్చునట్లు అతడు దానిని చీల్చెను. అతడు తాను చేసినది తన తండ్రితోనైనను తల్లితో నైనను చెప్పలేదు.

6. And the spirit of the LORD came upon him. And he tare him, as a man would rent a Kid, and yet had nothing in his hand. Nevertheless he told not his father and mother what he had done.

7. And he went down and talked with the woman, which seemed well favoured in the sight of Samson.

8. కొంతకాలమైన తరువాత అతడు ఆమెను తీసికొని వచ్చుటకు తిరిగి వెళ్లుచుండగా, ఆ సింహపు కళేబరమును చూచుటకై ఆ వైపు తిరిగినప్పుడు, సింహపుకళేబరములో తేనెటీగల గుంపును తేనెయు కన బడగా

8. And within a short space after, as he went thither again to take her to wife, he turned out of the way, to see the carcase of the Lion. And behold there was a swarm of bees in the carcase of the Lion and honey.

9. అతడు ఆ తేనె చేత నుంచుకొని తినుచు వెళ్లుచు తన తలిదండ్రులయొద్దకు వచ్చి వారికి కొంత నియ్యగా వారును తినిరి. అయితే తాను సింహపు కళేబరములో నుండి ఆ తేనెను తీసిన సంగతి వారికి తెలియజేయలేదు.

9. And he took of the honey in his hands and went eating, and came to his father and mother, and gave them also. And they did eat. But he told not them, that he had taken the honey out of the carcase of the Lion.

10. అంతట అతని తండ్రి ఆ స్త్రీని చూడబోయినప్పుడు సమ్సోను విందుచేసెను. అచ్చటి పెండ్లికుమారులు అట్లు చేయుట మర్యాద.

10. And when his father was come unto the woman, Samson made there a feast, for so used the young men to do.

11. వారు అతని చూచినప్పుడు అతని యొద్ద నుండుటకు ముప్పది మంది స్నేహితులను తోడుకొని వచ్చిరి.

11. And when her friends saw him, they brought thirty companions to bear fellowship.

12. అప్పుడు సమ్సోనుమీకిష్టమైనయెడల నేను మీ యెదుట ఒక విప్పుడు కథను వేసెదను; మీరు ఈ విందు జరుగు ఏడు దినములలోగా దాని భావమును నాకు తెలిపిన యెడల నేను ముప్పది సన్నపు నారబట్టలను ముప్పది దుస్తులను మీ కిచ్చెదను.

12. And Samson said unto them: I will put forth a riddle unto you. And if you can declare it within seven days of the feast and find it out, I will give you thirty shirts and thirty changes of garments:

13. మీరు దాని నాకు తెలుపలేక పోయినయెడల మీరు ముప్పది సన్నపు నారబట్టలను ముప్పది దుస్తులను నాకియ్యవలెనని వారితో చెప్పగా వారుమేము ఒప్పుకొందుము, నీ విప్పుడు కథను వేయుమని అతనితో చెప్పిరి.

13. But and if you can not declare it me, then shall ye give me thirty shirts and thirty changes of garments. And they answered him, put forth thy riddle and let us hear it.

14. కాగా అతడు బలమైనదానిలోనుండి తీపి వచ్చెను, తిను దానిలోనుండి తిండి వచ్చెను అనెను. మూడు దినములలోగా వారు ఆ విప్పుడు కథ భావమును చెప్పలేకపోయిరి.

14. And he said unto them: Out of the eater came meat: and out of the strong came sweetness. And they could not in three days expound the riddle.

15. ఏడవ దినమున వారు సమ్సోను భార్యతో ఇట్ల నిరినీ పెనిమిటి ఆ విప్పుడు కథభావమును మాకు తెలుపునట్లు అతని లాలనచేయుము, లేనియెడల మేము అగ్ని వేసి నిన్ను నీ తండ్రి యింటివారిని కాల్చివేసెదము; మా ఆస్తిని స్వాధీన పరచుకొనుటకే మమ్మును పిలిచితిరా? అనిరి.

15. And when the seventh day was come, they said unto Samson's wife; Flatter with thine husband, that he may declare us thy riddle, or else we will burn thee and thy father's house with fire: have ye called us to make us beggars or not?

16. కాబట్టి సమ్సోను భార్య అతని పాదములయొద్ద పడి యేడ్చుచునీవు నన్ను ద్వేషించితివి గాని ప్రేమింపలేదు. నీవు నా జనులకు ఒక విప్పుడు కథను వేసితివి, దాని నాకు తెలుప వైతివి అనగా అతడునేను నా తలిదండ్రులకైనను దాని తెలుపలేదు, నీకు తెలుపుదునా? అనినప్పుడు ఆమె వారి విందు దినములు ఏడింటను అతనియొద్ద ఏడ్చు చువచ్చెను.

16. Then Samson's wife wept unto him and said, it can not be but that thou hatest me and lovest me not: for thou hast put forth a riddle unto the children of my folk and wilt not tell me what it meaneth. And he said: Behold, I have not told it my father, nor my mother, and should I tell it thee?

17. ఏడవదినమున ఆమె అతని తొందర పెట్టినందున అతడు ఆమెకు దాని తెలియజేయగా ఆమె తన జనులకు ఆ విప్పుడు కథను తెలిపెను.

17. And she wept unto him seven days, while the feast lasted. And the seventh day he told her, because she lay so sore upon him. And she told it the children of her folk.

18. ఏడవదినమున సూర్యుడు అస ్తమింపకమునుపు ఆ ఊరివారు తేనెకంటె తీపియైనదేది?సింహముకంటె బలమైనదేది? అని అతనితో అనగా అతడునా దూడతో దున్నకపోయినయెడల నా విప్పుడు కథను విప్పలేకయుందురని వారితో చెప్పెను.

18. And the men of the city said unto him the seventh day before the son went down; What is sweeter than honey, and what is stronger than a Lion. Then said he unto them: If ye had not ploughed with my calf, ye had not found out my riddle.

19. యెహోవా ఆత్మ అతనిమీదికి మరల రాగా అతడు అష్కెలోనుకు పోయి వారిలో ముప్పదిమందిని చంపి వారి సొమ్మును దోచుకొని తన విప్పుడు కథ భావమును చెప్పినవారికి బట్టలనిచ్చెను.

19. Then the spirit of the LORD came upon him. And he went down to Askalon, and slew thirty men of them and spoiled them, and gave their garments unto them which expounded the riddle. And he was wroth and went up to his father's house.

20. అతడు కోపించి తన తండ్రి యింటికి వెళ్లగా అతని భార్య అతడు స్నేహితునిగా భావించుకొనిన అతని చెలికాని కియ్యబడెను.

20. But Samson's wife was given to one of his companions that bare him company.
