1. ఇశ్రాయేలీయులకును కనానీయులకును జరిగినయుద్ధము లన్నిటిని చూడనివారందరిని శోధించి

1. Now, these, are the nations which Yahweh left, that he might, by them, put Israel to the proof, all who had not known any of the wars of Canaan;

2. ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల తరతరములవారికి, అనగా పూర్వము ఆ యుద్ధములను ఏ మాత్రమును చూడనివారికి యుద్ధముచేయ నేర్పునట్లు యెహోవా ఉండనిచ్చిన జనములు ఇవి.

2. that the generations of the sons of Israel might certainly get to know, by being taught to make war, such, at least, as aforetime knew nothing thereof:

3. ఫిలిష్తీయుల అయిదుగురు సర్దారుల జనులును, కనానీయులందరును, సీదోనీయులును, బయల్హెర్మోను మొదలుకొని హమాతునకు పోవు మార్గమువరకు లెబానోను కొండలో నివసించు హివ్వీయులును,

3. five lords of the Philistines, and all the Canaanites, and the Zidonians, and the Hivites dwelling in Mount Lebanon, from Mount Baal-hermon as far as the entering in of Hamath.

4. యెహోవా మోషేద్వారా తమ తండ్రుల కిచ్చిన ఆజ్ఞలను వారు అనుసరింతురో లేదో తెలిసికొను నట్లు ఇశ్రాయేలీయులను పరిశోధించుటకై ఆ జనములను ఉండనిచ్చెను.

4. So then these were left , that, by them, he might put Israel to the proof, to know whether they would hearken unto the commandments of Yahweh which he commanded their fathers by the hand of Moses.

5. కాబట్టి ఇశ్రాయేలీయులు, కనానీయులు హిత్తీయులు అమోరీయులు

5. And thus, the sons of Israel, dwelt in the midst of the Canaanites, the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites;

6. పెరిజ్జీ యులు హివ్వీయులు ఎబూసీయులను జనులమధ్య నివసించుచు వారి కుమార్తె లను పెండ్లిచేసికొనుచు, వారి కుమారులకు తమ కుమార్తెల నిచ్చుచు, వారి దేవతలను పూజించుచు వచ్చిరి

6. and took their daughters to be their wives, their own daughters moreover, gave they unto their sons, and they served their gods.

7. అట్లు ఇశ్రాయేలీయులు యెహోవా సన్నిధిని దోషులై, తమ దేవుడైన యెహోవాను మరచి బయలుదేవతలను దేవతా స్తంభములను పూజించిరి.

7. Thus did the sons of Israel the thing that was wicked in the sight of Yahweh, and forgat Yahweh their God, and served the Baals and the Asherahs.

8. అందునుగూర్చి యెహోవా కోపము ఇశ్రాయేలీయులమీద మండగా ఆయన అరా మ్నహరాయిముయొక్క రాజైన కూషన్రిషాతాయిము చేతులకు దాసులగుటకై వారిని అమ్మివేసెను. ఇశ్రాయేలీ యులు ఎనిమిది సంవత్సరములు కూషన్రిషాతాయిమునకు దాసులుగానుండిరి

8. Then kindled the anger of Yahweh upon Israel, and he sold them into the hand of Chushan-rishathaim, king of Mesopotamia, and the sons of Israel served Chushan-rishathaim, eight years.

9. ఇశ్రాయేలీయులు యెహోవాకు మొఱ్ఱపెట్టగా యెహోవా కాలేబు తమ్ముడైన కనజు యొక్క కుమారుడగు ఒత్నీయేలును రక్షకునిగా ఇశ్రా యేలీయులకొరకు నియమించి వారిని రక్షించెను.

9. And the sons of Israel made outcry unto Yahweh, so Yahweh raised up a saviour unto the sons of Israel, who saved them, even Othniel son of Kenaz, Caleb's younger brother.

10. యెహోవా ఆత్మ అతని మీదికి వచ్చెను గనుక అతడు ఇశ్రాయేలీయులకు న్యాయాధిపతియై యుద్ధమునకు బయలుదేరగా యెహోవా అరామ్నహరాయిము రాజైన కూషన్రిషాతాయిమును అతని చేతికప్పగించెను, ఆతడు కూషన్రిషాతాయిమును జయించెను.

10. And the Spirit of Yahweh came upon him, and he judged Israel, and went out to war, and Yahweh delivered into his hand, Chushan-rishathaim, king of Syria, and his hand prevailed over Chushan-rishathaim.

11. అప్పుడు నలువది సంవత్సరములు దేశము నెమ్మదిపొందెను. అటుతరువాత కనజు కుమారుడైన ఒత్నీయేలు మృతినొందెను.

11. And the land had rest forty years, and Othniel son of Kenaz, died.

12. ఇశ్రాయేలీయులు మరల యెహోవా దృష్టికి దోషు లైరి గనుక వారు యెహోవా దృష్టికి దోషులైనందున యెహోవా ఇశ్రాయేలీయులతో యుద్ధముచేయుటకు మోయాబు రాజైన ఎగ్లోనును బలపరచెను.

12. And the sons of Israel again did the thing that was wicked, in the sight of Yahweh, and Yahweh emboldened Eglon, king of Moab, against Israel, because they did the thing that was wicked in the sight of Yahweh;

13. అతడు అమ్మోనీయులను అమాలేకీయులను సమకూర్చుకొనిపోయి ఇశ్రాయేలీయులను ఓడగొట్టి ఖర్జూరచెట్ల పట్టణమును స్వాధీనపరచుకొనెను.

13. and he gathered unto him, the sons of Ammon, and Amalek, and came and smote Israel, and took possession of the city of palm-trees.

14. ఇశ్రాయేలీయులు పదునెనిమిది సంవత్సరములు మోయాబు రాజునకు దాసులైరి.

14. So the sons of Israel served Eglon king of Moab, eighteen years.

15. ఇశ్రా యేలీయులు యెహోవాకు మొఱ్ఱ పెట్టగా బెన్యామీ నీయుడైన గెరా కుమారుడగు ఏహూదను రక్షకుని వారి కొరకు యెహోవా నియమించెను. అతడు ఎడమచేతి పని వాడు. అతనిచేతను ఇశ్రాయేలీయులు మోయాబు రాజైన ఎగ్లోనుకు కప్పము పంపగా

15. And the sons of Israel made outcry unto Yahweh, and Yahweh raised up unto them a saviour, Ehud son of Gera, a Benjamite, a man left-handed, and the sons of Israel sent, by his hand, a present, unto Eglon king of Moab.

16. ఏహూదు మూరెడు పొడవుగల రెండంచుల కత్తిని చేయించుకొని, తన వస్త్ర ములో తన కుడి తొడమీద

16. So Ehud made himself a sword which had two edges, a cubit in length, and girded it under his raiment, upon his right thigh.

17. దానిని కట్టుకొని, ఆ కప్పము మోయాబురాజైన ఎగ్లో నుకు తెచ్చెను. ఆ ఎగ్లోను బహు స్థూలకాయుడు.

17. So he offered the present unto Eglon, king of Moab, now, Eglon, was an exceedingly fat man.

18. ఏహూదు ఆ కప్పము తెచ్చి యిచ్చిన తరువాత కప్పము మోసిన జనులను వెళ్లనంపి

18. And so it was, when he had made an end of offering the present, that he sent away the people who had been bearing the present;

19. గిల్గాలు దగ్గర నున్న పెసీలీమునొద్దనుండి తిరిగి వచ్చిరాజా, రహస్యమైన మాట ఒకటి నేను నీతో చెప్పవలె ననగా అతడుతనయొద్ద నిలిచినవారందరు వెలుపలికి పోవు వరకు ఊరకొమ్మని చెప్పెను.

19. but, he himself, turned back from the images that were by Gilgal, and said, A secret word, have I, unto thee, O king! And he said Silence! Thereupon went out from his presence all who had been standing near him.

20. ఏహూదు అతని దగ్గ రకు వచ్చినప్పుడు అతడు ఒక్కడే చల్లని మేడ గదిలో కూర్చుండియుండెను. ఏహూదునీతో నేను చెప్ప వలసిన దేవునిమాట ఒకటి యున్నదని చెప్పగా అతడు తన పీఠముమీదనుండి లేచెను.

20. And, Ehud, came in unto him, he, having been sitting in a summer parlour, which he had for himself, alone, and Ehud said, A divine word, have I, unto thee. So he arose from off his seat.

21. అప్పుడు ఏహూదు తన యెడమచేతిని చాపి తన కుడి తొడమీదనుండి ఆ కత్తి తీసి కడుపుమీద అతని పొడిచెను.

21. And Ehud put forth his left hand, and took the sword from off his right thigh, and thrust it into his body;

22. పడియును కత్తివెంబడి దూరగా క్రొవ్వుకత్తిపైని కప్పుకొనినందున అతని కడుపు నుండి కత్తిని తీయలేకపోయెను, అది వెనుకనుండి బయటికి వచ్చి యుండెను.

22. and, the handle also, went in after the blade, and the flesh closed upon the blade, for he withdrew not the sword out of his body, and he came out into the ante-chamber.

23. అప్పుడు ఏహూదు పంచపాళిలోనికి బయలువెళ్లి తన వెనుకను ఆ మేడగది తలుపువేసి గడియ పెట్టెను.

23. And, when Ehud came out into the porch, he closed the doors of the parlour upon him, and bolted them.

24. అతడు బయలువెళ్లిన తరువాత ఆ రాజు దాసులు లోపలికివచ్చి చూడగా ఆ మేడగది తలుపులు గడియలు వేసియుండెను గనుక వారు అతడు చల్లని గదిలో శంకానివర్తికి పోయియున్నాడనుకొని

24. When, he, had come out, his servants, went in, and looked, and lo! the doors of the parlour were bolted, so they said, Surely he covereth his feet, in the summer chamber.

25. తాము సిగ్గువింతలు పడువరకు కనిపెట్టినను అతడు ఆ గది తలుపు లను తీయకపోగా వారు తాళపు చెవిని తెచ్చి తలుపులు తీసి చూచినప్పుడు వారి యజమానుడు చనిపోయి నేలను పడియుండెను.

25. But, though they tarried a long time, yet lo! he opened not the doors of the parlour, so they took the key, and opened them , when lo! their lord, fallen to the ground dead.

26. వారు తడవు చేయు చుండగా ఏహూదు తప్పించుకొని పెసీలీమును దాటి శెయీరాకు పారి పోయెను.

26. But, Ehud, escaped while they delayed, yea, he, passed the images, and escaped into Seirah.

27. అతడు వచ్చి ఎఫ్రాయిమీయుల కొండలో బూరను ఊదగా ఇశ్రాయేలీయులు మన్యప్రదేశమునుండి దిగి అతని యొద్దకు వచ్చిరి.

27. And so it was, when he came, that he blew with a horn, throughout the hill country of Ephraim, and the sons of Israel came down with him, out of the hill country, he, being before them.

28. అతడు వారికి ముందుగా సాగి వారితోనా వెంబడి త్వరగా రండి; మీ శత్రువు లైన మోయాబీయులను యెహోవా మీ చేతి కప్పగించు చున్నాడనెను. కాబట్టి వారు అతని వెంబడిని దిగివచ్చి మోయాబు నెదుటి యొర్దాను రేవులను పట్టుకొని యెవనిని దాటనియ్యలేదు.

28. And he said unto them Come down after me, for Yahweh hath delivered your enemies, the Moabites, into your hand. So they came down after him, and captured the fords of the Jordan, towards Moab, and suffered not a man to pass over.

29. ఆ కాలమున వారు మోయాబీయు లలో బలముగల శూరులైన పరాక్రమ శాలులను పదివేల మందిని చంపిరి; ఒకడును తప్పించుకొనలేదు. ఆ దిన మున మోయాబీయులు ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల చేతిక్రింద అణపబడగా దేశము ఎనుబది సంవత్సరములు నిమ్మళముగా ఉండెను.

29. And they smote of Moab, at that time, about ten thousand men, every one a mighty man, and every one a man of valour, and, there escaped not a man.

30. అతనితరువాత అనాతు కుమారుడైన షవ్గురు న్యాయాధి పతిగా ఉండెను. అతడు ఫిలిష్తీయులలో ఆరువందల మందిని మునుకోల కఱ్ఱతో హతముచేసెను;

30. And Moab was subdued on that day, under the hand of Israel. And the land had rest eighty years, and Ehud judged them until his death.

31. అతడును ఇశ్రాయేలీయులను రక్షించెను.

31. And, after him, was Shamgar, son of Anath, who smote of the Philistines, six hundred men, with an ox-goad, and, he also, saved Israel.
