1. ఇశ్రాయేలీయులకును కనానీయులకును జరిగినయుద్ధము లన్నిటిని చూడనివారందరిని శోధించి

1. And these [are] the nations which Jehovah left, to try Israel by them, all who have not known all the wars of Canaan;

2. ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల తరతరములవారికి, అనగా పూర్వము ఆ యుద్ధములను ఏ మాత్రమును చూడనివారికి యుద్ధముచేయ నేర్పునట్లు యెహోవా ఉండనిచ్చిన జనములు ఇవి.

2. (only for the sake of the generations of the sons of Israel's knowing, to teach them war, only those who formerly have not known them) --

3. ఫిలిష్తీయుల అయిదుగురు సర్దారుల జనులును, కనానీయులందరును, సీదోనీయులును, బయల్హెర్మోను మొదలుకొని హమాతునకు పోవు మార్గమువరకు లెబానోను కొండలో నివసించు హివ్వీయులును,

3. five princes of the Philistines, and all the Canaanite, and the Zidonian, and the Hivite inhabiting mount Lebanon, from mount Baal-Hermon unto the entering in of Hamath;

4. యెహోవా మోషేద్వారా తమ తండ్రుల కిచ్చిన ఆజ్ఞలను వారు అనుసరింతురో లేదో తెలిసికొను నట్లు ఇశ్రాయేలీయులను పరిశోధించుటకై ఆ జనములను ఉండనిచ్చెను.

4. and they are to prove Israel by them, to know whether they obey the commands of Jehovah that He commanded their fathers by the hand of Moses.

5. కాబట్టి ఇశ్రాయేలీయులు, కనానీయులు హిత్తీయులు అమోరీయులు

5. And the sons of Israel have dwelt in the midst of the Canaanite, the Hittite, and the Amorite, and the Perizzite, and the Hivite, and the Jebusite,

6. పెరిజ్జీ యులు హివ్వీయులు ఎబూసీయులను జనులమధ్య నివసించుచు వారి కుమార్తె లను పెండ్లిచేసికొనుచు, వారి కుమారులకు తమ కుమార్తెల నిచ్చుచు, వారి దేవతలను పూజించుచు వచ్చిరి

6. and take their daughters to them for wives, and their daughters have given to their sons, and they serve their gods;

7. అట్లు ఇశ్రాయేలీయులు యెహోవా సన్నిధిని దోషులై, తమ దేవుడైన యెహోవాను మరచి బయలుదేవతలను దేవతా స్తంభములను పూజించిరి.

7. and the sons of Israel do the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah, and forget Jehovah their God, and serve the Baalim and the shrines.

8. అందునుగూర్చి యెహోవా కోపము ఇశ్రాయేలీయులమీద మండగా ఆయన అరా మ్నహరాయిముయొక్క రాజైన కూషన్రిషాతాయిము చేతులకు దాసులగుటకై వారిని అమ్మివేసెను. ఇశ్రాయేలీ యులు ఎనిమిది సంవత్సరములు కూషన్రిషాతాయిమునకు దాసులుగానుండిరి

8. And the anger of Jehovah burneth against Israel, and He selleth them into the hand of Chushan-Rishathaim king of Aram-Naharaim, and the sons of Israel serve Chushan-Rishathaim eight years;

9. ఇశ్రాయేలీయులు యెహోవాకు మొఱ్ఱపెట్టగా యెహోవా కాలేబు తమ్ముడైన కనజు యొక్క కుమారుడగు ఒత్నీయేలును రక్షకునిగా ఇశ్రా యేలీయులకొరకు నియమించి వారిని రక్షించెను.

9. and the sons of Israel cry unto Jehovah, and Jehovah raiseth a saviour to the sons of Israel, and he saveth them -- Othniel son of Kenaz, Caleb's younger brother;

10. యెహోవా ఆత్మ అతని మీదికి వచ్చెను గనుక అతడు ఇశ్రాయేలీయులకు న్యాయాధిపతియై యుద్ధమునకు బయలుదేరగా యెహోవా అరామ్నహరాయిము రాజైన కూషన్రిషాతాయిమును అతని చేతికప్పగించెను, ఆతడు కూషన్రిషాతాయిమును జయించెను.

10. and the Spirit of Jehovah is upon him, and he judgeth Israel, and goeth out to battle, and Jehovah giveth unto his hand Chushan-Rishathaim king of Aram, and strong is his hand against Chushan-Rishathaim;

11. అప్పుడు నలువది సంవత్సరములు దేశము నెమ్మదిపొందెను. అటుతరువాత కనజు కుమారుడైన ఒత్నీయేలు మృతినొందెను.

11. and the land resteth forty years. And Othniel son of Kenaz dieth,

12. ఇశ్రాయేలీయులు మరల యెహోవా దృష్టికి దోషు లైరి గనుక వారు యెహోవా దృష్టికి దోషులైనందున యెహోవా ఇశ్రాయేలీయులతో యుద్ధముచేయుటకు మోయాబు రాజైన ఎగ్లోనును బలపరచెను.

12. and the sons of Israel add to do the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah; and Jehovah strengtheneth Eglon king of Moab against Israel, because that they have done the evil thing in the eyes of Jehovah;

13. అతడు అమ్మోనీయులను అమాలేకీయులను సమకూర్చుకొనిపోయి ఇశ్రాయేలీయులను ఓడగొట్టి ఖర్జూరచెట్ల పట్టణమును స్వాధీనపరచుకొనెను.

13. and he gathereth unto him the Bene-Ammon and Amalek, and goeth and smiteth Israel, and they possess the city of palms;

14. ఇశ్రాయేలీయులు పదునెనిమిది సంవత్సరములు మోయాబు రాజునకు దాసులైరి.

14. and the sons of Israel serve Eglon king of Moab eighteen years.

15. ఇశ్రా యేలీయులు యెహోవాకు మొఱ్ఱ పెట్టగా బెన్యామీ నీయుడైన గెరా కుమారుడగు ఏహూదను రక్షకుని వారి కొరకు యెహోవా నియమించెను. అతడు ఎడమచేతి పని వాడు. అతనిచేతను ఇశ్రాయేలీయులు మోయాబు రాజైన ఎగ్లోనుకు కప్పము పంపగా

15. And the sons of Israel cry unto Jehovah, and Jehovah raiseth to them a saviour, Ehud son of Gera, a Benjamite (a man -- shut of his right hand), and the sons of Israel send by his hand a present to Eglon king of Moab;

16. ఏహూదు మూరెడు పొడవుగల రెండంచుల కత్తిని చేయించుకొని, తన వస్త్ర ములో తన కుడి తొడమీద

16. and Ehud maketh for himself a sword, and it hath two mouths (a cubit [is] its length), and he girdeth it under his long robe on his right thigh;

17. దానిని కట్టుకొని, ఆ కప్పము మోయాబురాజైన ఎగ్లో నుకు తెచ్చెను. ఆ ఎగ్లోను బహు స్థూలకాయుడు.

17. and he bringeth near the present to Eglon king of Moab, and Eglon [is] a very fat man.

18. ఏహూదు ఆ కప్పము తెచ్చి యిచ్చిన తరువాత కప్పము మోసిన జనులను వెళ్లనంపి

18. And it cometh to pass, when he hath finished to bring near the present, that he sendeth away the people bearing the present,

19. గిల్గాలు దగ్గర నున్న పెసీలీమునొద్దనుండి తిరిగి వచ్చిరాజా, రహస్యమైన మాట ఒకటి నేను నీతో చెప్పవలె ననగా అతడుతనయొద్ద నిలిచినవారందరు వెలుపలికి పోవు వరకు ఊరకొమ్మని చెప్పెను.

19. and he himself hath turned back from the graven images which [are] at Gilgal, and saith, 'A secret word I have unto thee, O king;' and he saith, 'Hush!' and go out from him do all those standing by him.

20. ఏహూదు అతని దగ్గ రకు వచ్చినప్పుడు అతడు ఒక్కడే చల్లని మేడ గదిలో కూర్చుండియుండెను. ఏహూదునీతో నేను చెప్ప వలసిన దేవునిమాట ఒకటి యున్నదని చెప్పగా అతడు తన పీఠముమీదనుండి లేచెను.

20. And Ehud hath come unto him, and he is sitting in the upper chamber of the wall which he hath for himself, and Ehud saith, 'A word of God I have unto thee;' and he riseth from off the throne;

21. అప్పుడు ఏహూదు తన యెడమచేతిని చాపి తన కుడి తొడమీదనుండి ఆ కత్తి తీసి కడుపుమీద అతని పొడిచెను.

21. and Ehud putteth forth his left hand, and taketh the sword from off his right thigh, and striketh it into his belly;

22. పడియును కత్తివెంబడి దూరగా క్రొవ్వుకత్తిపైని కప్పుకొనినందున అతని కడుపు నుండి కత్తిని తీయలేకపోయెను, అది వెనుకనుండి బయటికి వచ్చి యుండెను.

22. and the haft also goeth in after the blade, and the fat shutteth on the blade, that he hath not drawn the sword out of his belly, and it goeth out at the fundament.

23. అప్పుడు ఏహూదు పంచపాళిలోనికి బయలువెళ్లి తన వెనుకను ఆ మేడగది తలుపువేసి గడియ పెట్టెను.

23. And Ehud goeth out at the porch, and shutteth the doors of the upper chamber upon him, and hath bolted [it];

24. అతడు బయలువెళ్లిన తరువాత ఆ రాజు దాసులు లోపలికివచ్చి చూడగా ఆ మేడగది తలుపులు గడియలు వేసియుండెను గనుక వారు అతడు చల్లని గదిలో శంకానివర్తికి పోయియున్నాడనుకొని

24. and he hath gone out, and his servants have come in, and look, and lo, the doors of the upper chamber are bolted, and they say, 'He is only covering his feet in the inner chamber of the wall.'

25. తాము సిగ్గువింతలు పడువరకు కనిపెట్టినను అతడు ఆ గది తలుపు లను తీయకపోగా వారు తాళపు చెవిని తెచ్చి తలుపులు తీసి చూచినప్పుడు వారి యజమానుడు చనిపోయి నేలను పడియుండెను.

25. And they stay till confounded, and lo, he is not opening the doors of the upper chamber, and they take the key, and open, and lo, their lord is fallen to the earth -- dead.

26. వారు తడవు చేయు చుండగా ఏహూదు తప్పించుకొని పెసీలీమును దాటి శెయీరాకు పారి పోయెను.

26. And Ehud escaped during their tarrying, and hath passed by the images, and is escaped to Seirath.

27. అతడు వచ్చి ఎఫ్రాయిమీయుల కొండలో బూరను ఊదగా ఇశ్రాయేలీయులు మన్యప్రదేశమునుండి దిగి అతని యొద్దకు వచ్చిరి.

27. And it cometh to pass, in his coming in, that he bloweth with a trumpet in the hill-country of Ephraim, and go down with him do the sons of Israel from the hill-country, and he before them;

28. అతడు వారికి ముందుగా సాగి వారితోనా వెంబడి త్వరగా రండి; మీ శత్రువు లైన మోయాబీయులను యెహోవా మీ చేతి కప్పగించు చున్నాడనెను. కాబట్టి వారు అతని వెంబడిని దిగివచ్చి మోయాబు నెదుటి యొర్దాను రేవులను పట్టుకొని యెవనిని దాటనియ్యలేదు.

28. and he saith unto them, 'Pursue after me, for Jehovah hath given your enemies, the Moabites, into your hand;' and they go down after him, and capture the passages of the Jordan towards Moab, and have not permitted a man to pass over.

29. ఆ కాలమున వారు మోయాబీయు లలో బలముగల శూరులైన పరాక్రమ శాలులను పదివేల మందిని చంపిరి; ఒకడును తప్పించుకొనలేదు. ఆ దిన మున మోయాబీయులు ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల చేతిక్రింద అణపబడగా దేశము ఎనుబది సంవత్సరములు నిమ్మళముగా ఉండెను.

29. And they smite Moab at that time, about ten thousand men, all robust, and every one a man of valour, and not a man hath escaped,

30. అతనితరువాత అనాతు కుమారుడైన షవ్గురు న్యాయాధి పతిగా ఉండెను. అతడు ఫిలిష్తీయులలో ఆరువందల మందిని మునుకోల కఱ్ఱతో హతముచేసెను;

30. and Moab is humbled in that day under the hand of Israel; and the land resteth eighty years.

31. అతడును ఇశ్రాయేలీయులను రక్షించెను.

31. And after him hath been Shamgar son of Anath, and he smiteth the Philistines -- six hundred men -- with an ox-goad, and he saveth -- he also -- Israel.
