1. అంతట యెహోవా సమూయేలుతో ఈలాగు సెల విచ్చెనుఇశ్రాయేలీయులమీద రాజుగా ఉండకుండ నేను విసర్జించిన సౌలునుగూర్చి నీ వెంతకాలము దుఃఖిం తువు? నీ కొమ్మును తైలముతో నింపుము, బేత్లెహేమీయుడైన యెష్షయియొద్దకు నిన్ను పంపుచున్నాను, అతని కుమారులలో ఒకని నేను రాజుగా నియమించుదును.

1. And the Lord said to Samuel, How long will you go on sorrowing for Saul, seeing that I have put him from his place as king over Israel? Take oil in your vessel and go; I will send you to Jesse, the Beth-lehemite: for I have got a king for myself among his sons.

2. సమూయేలునేనెట్లు వెళ్లుదును? నేను వెళ్లిన సంగతి సౌలు వినినయెడల అతడు నన్ను చంపుననగా యెహోవానీవు ఒక పెయ్యను తీసికొనిపోయి యెహోవాకు బలిపశువును వధించుటకై వచ్చితినని చెప్పి

2. And Samuel said, How is it possible for me to go? If Saul gets news of it he will put me to death. And the Lord said, Take a young cow with you and say, I have come to make an offering to the Lord.

3. యెష్షయిని బల్యర్పణమునకు పిలువుము; అప్పుడు నీవు చేయవలసిన దానిని నీకు తెలియజేతును; ఎవనిపేరు నేను నీకు చెప్పుదునో అతనిని నీవు అభిషేకింపవలెనని సెలవియ్యగా

3. And send for Jesse to be present at the offering, and I will make clear to you what you are to do: and you are to put the holy oil on him whose name I give you.

4. సమూయేలు యెహోవా ఇచ్చిన సెలవుచొప్పున బేత్లె హేమునకు వెళ్లెను. ఆ ఊరి పెద్దలు అతని రాకకు భయపడిసమాధానముగా వచ్చుచున్నావా అని అడుగగా

4. And Samuel did as the Lord said and came to Beth-lehem. And the responsible men of the town came out to him in fear and said, Do you come in peace?

5. అతడుసమాధానముగానే వచ్చితిని; మీరు శుద్ధులై నాతోకూడ బలికి రండని చెప్పి, యెష్షయిని అతని కుమారులను శుద్ధి చేసి బలి అర్పించెను.

5. And he said, In peace: I have come to make an offering to the Lord: make yourselves clean and come with me to make the offering. And he made Jesse and his sons clean, and sent for them to be present at the offering.

6. Now when they came, looking at Eliab, he said, Clearly the man of the Lord's selection is before him.

7. But the Lord said to Samuel, Do not take note of his face or how tall he is, because I will not have him: for the Lord's view is not man's; man takes note of the outer form, but the Lord sees the heart.

8. యెష్షయి అబీనాదాబును పిలిచి సమూయేలు ఎదుటికి అతని రప్పింపగా అతడుయెహోవా ఇతని కోరుకొన లేదనెను.

8. Then Jesse sent for Abinadab and made him come before Samuel. And he said, The Lord has not taken this one.

9. అప్పుడు యెష్షయి షమ్మాను పిలువగా అతడుయెహోవా ఇతనిని కోరుకొనలేదనెను.

9. Then Jesse made Shammah come before him. And he said, The Lord has not taken this one.

10. యెష్షయి తన యేడుగురు కుమారులను సమూయేలు ఎదుటికి పిలువగా సమూయేలుయెహోవా వీరిని కోరుకొనలేదని చెప్పి

10. And Jesse made his seven sons come before Samuel. And Samuel said to Jesse, The Lord has not taken any of these.

11. నీ కుమారులందరు ఇక్కడనున్నారా అని యెష్షయిని అడుగగా అతడుఇంకను కడసారివాడున్నాడు. అయితే వాడు గొఱ్ఱెలను కాయుచున్నాడని చెప్పెను. అందుకు సమూయేలునీవు వాని పిలువనంపించుము, అతడిక్కడికి వచ్చువరకు మనము కూర్చుందమని యెష్షయితో చెప్పగా

11. Then Samuel said to Jesse, Are all your children here? And he said, There is still the youngest, and he is looking after the sheep. And Samuel said to Jesse, Send and make him come here: for we will not take our seats till he is here.

12. అతడు వాని పిలువనంపించి లోపలికి తోడుకొనివచ్చెను. అతడు ఎఱ్ఱనివాడును చక్కని నేత్రములు గలవాడును చూచుటకు సుందరమైనవాడునై యుండెను. అతడు రాగానేనేను కోరుకొన్నవాడు ఇతడే, నీవు లేచి వానిని అభిషేకించుమని యెహోవా సెలవియ్యగా

12. So he sent and made him come in. Now he had red hair and beautiful eyes and pleasing looks. And the Lord said, Come, put the oil on him, for this is he.

13. సమూయేలు తైలపు కొమ్మును తీసి వాని సహోదరుల యెదుట వానికి అభిషేకము చేసెను. నాటనుండి యెహోవా ఆత్మ దావీదుమీదికి బలముగా వచ్చెను. తరువాత సమూ యేలు లేచి రామాకు వెళ్లిపోయెను.

13. Then Samuel took the bottle of oil, and put the oil on him there among his brothers: and from that day the spirit of the Lord came on David with power. So Samuel went back to Ramah.

14. యెహోవా ఆత్మ సౌలును విడిచిపోయి యెహోవా యొద్దనుండి దురాత్మయొకటి వచ్చి అతని వెరపింపగా

14. Now the spirit of the Lord had gone from Saul, and an evil spirit from the Lord was troubling him.

15. సౌలు సేవకులుదేవునియొద్దనుండి వచ్చిన దురాత్మయొకటి నిన్ను వెరపించియున్నది;

15. And Saul's servants said to him, See now, an evil spirit from God is troubling you.

16. మా యేలినవాడవైన నీవు ఆజ్ఞ ఇమ్ము, నీ దాసులమైన మేము సిద్ధముగా నున్నాము. సితారా చమత్కారముగా వాయింపగల యొకని విచా రించుటకై మాకు సెలవిమ్ము దేవుని యొద్దనుండి దురాత్మ వచ్చి నిన్ను పట్టినప్పుడెల్ల అతడు సితారా చేతపట్టుకొని వాయించుటచేత నీవు బాగుపడుదువని అతనితో ననిరి

16. Now give orders to your servants who are here before you to go in search of a man who is an expert player on a corded instrument: and it will be that when the evil spirit from God is on you, he will make music for you on his instrument, and you will get well.

17. సౌలుబాగుగా వాయింపగల యొకని విచారించి నా యొద్దకు తీసికొని రండని తన సేవకులకు సెలవియ్యగా వారిలో ఒకడు

17. And Saul said to his servants, Then get me a man who is an expert player, and make him come to me.

18. చిత్తగించుము, బేత్లెహేమీయుడైన యెష్షయియొక్క కుమారులలో ఒకని చూచితిని, అతడు చమత్కారముగా వాయింపగలడు, అతడు బహు శూరు డును యుద్ధశాలియు మాట నేర్పరియు రూపసియునై యున్నాడు, మరియు యెహోవా వానికి తోడుగా నున్నాడనగా

18. Then one of the servants in answer said, I have seen a son of Jesse, the Beth-lehemite, who is expert at playing, and a strong man and a man of war; and he is wise in his words, and pleasing in looks, and the Lord is with him.

19. నున్నాడనగా సౌలుయెష్షయియొద్దకు దూతలను పంపి, గొఱ్ఱెలయొద్ద నున్న నీ కుమారుడైన దావీదును నాయొద్దకు పంపు మనెను.

19. So Saul sent his servants to Jesse and said, Send me your son David who is with the sheep.

20. అప్పుడు యెష్షయి ఒక గార్దభముమీద రొట్టెలను ద్రాక్షారసపు తిత్తిని ఒక మేకపిల్లను వేయించి తన కుమారుడైన దావీదుచేత సౌలునొద్దకు పంపెను.

20. And Jesse took five cakes of bread and a skin of wine and a young goat and sent them to Saul by David.

21. దావీదు సౌలు దగ్గరకువచ్చి అతనియెదుట నిలువబడగా అతనియందు సౌలునకు బహు ఇష్టము పుట్టెను, అతడు సౌలు ఆయుధములను మోయువాడాయెను.

21. And David came to Saul, waiting before him: and he became very dear to Saul, who made him his servant, giving him the care of his arms.

22. అంతట సౌలుదావీదు నా అను గ్రహము పొందెను గనుక అతడు నా సముఖమందు సేవచేయుటకు ఒప్పుకొనుమని యెష్ష యికి వర్తమానము పంపెను.

22. And Saul sent to Jesse saying, Let David be with me, for he is pleasing to me.

23. దేవునియొద్దనుండి దురాత్మ వచ్చి సౌలును పట్టినప్పుడెల్ల దావీదు సితారా చేతపట్టుకొని వాయింపగా దురాత్మ అతనిని విడిచిపోయెను, అతడు సేదదీరి బాగాయెను.

23. And whenever the evil spirit from God came on Saul, David took his instrument and made music: so new life came to Saul, and he got well, and the evil spirit went away from him.
