1. దావీదు నోబులో యాజకుడైన అహీమెలెకు నొద్దకు వచ్చెను; అయితే అహీమెలెకు దావీదు రాకకు భయపడినీవు ఒంటరిగా వచ్చితివేమని అతని నడుగగా

1. Then David came to Nob, to Ahimelech the priest: and Ahimelech was full of fear at meeting David, and said to him, Why are you by yourself, having no man with you?

2. దావీదురాజు నాకు ఒక పని నిర్ణయించినేను నీ కాజ్ఞాపించి పంపినపని యేదో అదెవనితోనైనను చెప్పవద్దనెను; నేను నా పనివారిని ఒకానొక చోటికి వెళ్ల నిర్ణయించితిని;

2. And David said to Ahimelech the priest, The king has given me orders and has said to me, Say nothing to anyone about the business on which I am sending you and the orders I have given you: and a certain place has been fixed to which the young men are to go.

3. నీయొద్ద ఏమి యున్నది? అయిదు రొట్టెలుగాని మరేమియుగాని యుండిన యెడల అది నా కిమ్మని యాజకుడైన అహీమెలెకుతో అనగా

3. So now, if you have here five cakes of bread, give them into my hand, or whatever you have.

4. యాజకుడుసాధారణమైన రొట్టె నాయొద్ద లేదు; పనివారు స్త్రీలకు ఎడముగా నున్నవారైతే ప్రతిష్ఠితమైన రొట్టెలు కలవని దావీదుతో అనెను.

4. And the priest, answering David, said, I have no common bread here but there is holy bread; if only the young men have kept themselves from women.

5. అందుకు దావీదునిజముగా నేను బయలుదేరి వచ్చినప్పటినుండి ఈ మూడు దినములు స్త్రీలు మాకు దూరముగానే యున్నారు; పని వారిబట్టలు పవిత్రములే; ఒకవేళ మేముచేయుకార్యము అపవిత్రమైనయెడల నేమి? రాజాజ్ఞనుబట్టి అది పవిత్రముగా ఎంచతగును అని యాజకునితో అనెను.

5. And David in answer said to the priest, Certainly women have been kept from us; and as has been done before when I have gone out the arms of the young men were made holy, even though it was a common journey; how much more today will their arms be made holy.

6. అంతట యెహోవా సన్నిధినుండి తీసివేయబడిన సన్నిధి రొట్టెలు తప్ప అక్కడ వేరు రొట్టెలు లేకపోగా, వెచ్చనిరొట్టెలు వేయు దినమందు తీసివేయబడిన ప్రతిష్ఠితమైన రొట్టెలను యాజకుడు అతని కిచ్చెను.

6. So the priest gave him the holy bread: there was no other, only the holy bread which had been taken from before the Lord, so that new bread might be put in its place on the day when it was taken away.

7. ఆ దినమున సౌలుయొక్క సేవకులలో ఒకడు అక్కడ యెహోవా సన్నిధిని ఉండెను; అతని పేరు దోయేగు, అతడు ఎదోమీయుడు. అతడు సౌలు పసుల కాపరులకు పెద్ద

7. Now a certain man of the servants of Saul was there that day, kept back before the Lord; his name was Doeg, an Edomite, the strongest of Saul's runners.

8. రాజు పని వేగిరముగా జరుగవలెనని యెరిగి నా ఖడ్గమునైనను ఆయుధములనైనను నేను తేలేదు. ఇక్కడ నీయొద్ద ఖడ్గమైనను ఈటెయైనను ఉన్నదా అని దావీదు అహీమెలెకు నడుగగా

8. And David said to Ahimelech, Have you no sword or spear with you here? for I have come without my sword and other arms, because the king's business had to be done quickly.

9. యాజ కుడుఏలా లోయలో నీవు చంపిన గొల్యాతు అను ఫిలిష్తీయుని ఖడ్గమున్నది, అదిగో బట్టతో చుట్టబడి ఏఫోదువెనుక ఉన్నది, అది తప్ప ఇక్కడ మరి ఏ ఖడ్గ మునులేదు, దాని తీసికొనుటకు నీకిష్టమైన యెడల తీసికొను మనగా దావీదుదానికి సమమైనదొకటియు లేదు, నా కిమ్మనెను.

9. And the priest said, The sword of Goliath the Philistine, whom you put to death in the valley of Elah, is here folded in a cloth at the back of the ephod: take that, if you will, for there is no other sword here. And David said, there is no other sword like that; give it to me.

10. అంతట దావీదు సౌలునకు భయపడినందున ఆ దినముననే లేచి పారిపోయి గాతురాజైన ఆకీషునొద్దకువచ్చెను.

10. Then David got up and went in flight that day for fear of Saul, and went to Achish, the king of Gath.

11. ఆకీషు సేవకులుఈ దావీదు ఆ దేశపు రాజు కాడా? వారు నాట్యమాడుచు గానప్రతిగానములు చేయుచు సౌలు వేలకొలది హతముచేసెననియు, దావీదు పదివేలకొలది హతముచేసెననియు పాడిన పాటలు ఇతనిగూర్చినవే గదా అని అతనినిబట్టి రాజుతో మాటలాడగా

11. And the servants of Achish said to him, Is not this David, the king of the land? did they not make songs about him in their dances, saying, Saul has put to death thousands, and David tens of thousands?

12. దావీదు ఈ మాటలు తన మనస్సులోనుంచుకొని గాతు రాజైన ఆకీషునకు బహు భయపడెను.

12. And David took these words to heart, fearing Achish, the king of Gath.

13. కాబట్టి దావీదు వారి యెదుట తన చర్య మార్చుకొని వెఱ్ఱివానివలె నటించుచు, ద్వారపు తలుపుల మీద గీతలు గీయుచు, ఉమ్మి తన గడ్డముమీదికి కారనిచ్చుచు నుండెను. వారతని పట్టుకొనిపోగా అతడు పిచ్చిచేష్టలు చేయుచు వచ్చెను.

13. So changing his behaviour before them, he made it seem as if he was off his head, hammering on the doors of the town, and letting the water from his mouth go down his chin.

14. కావున ఆకీషురాజుమీరు చూచితిరికదా? వానికి పిచ్చిపట్టినది, నాయొద్దకు వీని నెందుకు తీసికొని వచ్చితిరి?

14. Then Achish said to his servants, Look! the man is clearly off his head; why have you let him come before me?

15. పిచ్చిచేష్టలు చేయు వారితో నాకేమి పని? నా సన్నిధిని పిచ్చిచేష్టలు చేయుటకు వీని తీసికొని వచ్చితిరేమి? వీడు నా నగరిలోనికి రాతగునా? అని తన సేవకులతో అనెను.

15. Are there not enough unbalanced men about me, that you have let this person come and do such tricks before me? is such a man to come into my house?
