1. తరువాత ఫిలిష్తీయులు కెయీలామీద యుద్ధము చేసి కల్లములమీది ధాన్యమును దోచుకొనుచున్నారని దావీదునకు వినబడెను.

1. Then told they David, saying, Lo! the Philistines are fighting against Keilah, and they are plundering the threshing-floors.

2. అంతట దావీదునేను వెళ్లి యీ ఫిలిష్తీయులను హతము చేయుదునా అని యెహోవా యొద్ద విచారణచేయగా యెహోవానీవు వెళ్లి ఫిలిష్తీ యులను హతముచేసి కెయీలాను రక్షించుమని దావీదునకు సెలవిచ్చెను.

2. So David enquired of Yahweh, saying, Shall I go and smite these Philistines? And Yahweh said unto David Go, and smite the Philistines, and save Keilah.

3. దావీదుతో కూడియున్న జనులుమేము ఇచ్చట యూదా దేశములో ఉండినను మాకు భయముగా నున్నది; ఫిలిష్తీయుల సైన్యములకెదురుగా కెయీలాకు మేము వచ్చినయెడల మరింత భయము కలుగును గదా అని దావీదుతో అనగా

3. But the men of David said unto him, Lo! we, here, in Judah, are afraid, how much more, then, if we go to Keilah, against the ranks of the Philistines?

4. దావీదు మరల యెహోవాయొద్ద విచారణ చేసెనునీవు లేచి కెయీలాకు వెళ్లుము, ఫిలిష్తీయులను నీ చేతికి అప్పగించుదునని యెహోవా సెలవియ్యగా

4. So David yet again enquired if Yahweh, and Yahweh answered him, and said Arise, go down to Keilah, for I am about to deliver the Philistines into thy hand.

5. దావీదును అతని జనులును కెయీలాకు వచ్చి ఫిలిష్తీయులతో యుద్ధముచేసి వారిని లెస్సగా హతముచేసి వారి పశువులను దోచుకొనివచ్చిరి. ఈలాగున దావీదు కెయీలా కాపురస్థులను రక్షించెను.

5. David therefore went, with his men, to Keilah, and fought with the Philistines, and drave forth their cattle, and smote them, with a great smiting, so David saved the inhabitants of Keilah.

6. అహీమెలెకు కుమారుడైన అబ్యాతారు ఏఫోదు చేత పట్టుకొని పారిపోయి కెయీలాలోనున్న దావీదునొద్దకు వచ్చెను.

6. Now it came to pass, when Abiathar, son of Ahimelech, fled unto David to Keilah, that he came down with, an ephod, in his hand.

7. దావీదు కెయీలాకు వచ్చిన సంగతి సౌలు విని దావీదు ద్వారములును అడ్డుగడలునుగల పట్టణములో ప్రవేశించి అందులో మూయబడి యున్నాడు, దేవుడతనిని నా చేతికి అప్పగించెనను కొనెను.

7. And, when it was told Saul that David had entered Keilah, Saul said God hath given him over into my hand, for he hath shut himself in by entering into a city with folding doors and bar.

8. కాబట్టి సౌలు కెయీలాకు పోయి దావీదును అతని జనులను ముట్టడింప వలెనని జనులందరిని యుద్ధమునకు పిలువనంపించెను.

8. So Saul summoned all the people to war, to go down to Keilah, to besiege David, and his men.

9. సౌలు తనకు కీడే యుద్దేశించుచున్నాడని దావీదు ఎరిగి యాజకుడైన అబ్యాతారును ఏఫోదును తెమ్మనెను.

9. And David ascertained that, against him, Saul was contriving mischief, so he said unto Abiathar the priest, Bring hither the ephod.

10. అప్పుడు దావీదుఇశ్రాయేలీయుల దేవా యెహోవా, సౌలు కెయీలాకు వచ్చి నన్నుబట్టి పట్టణమును పాడుచేయ నుద్దేశించుచున్నాడని నీ దాసుడనైన నాకురూఢిగా తెలియబడి యున్నది.

10. Then said David: O Yahweh, God of Israel, thy servant, hath heard, that Saul is seeking to come unto Keilah, to destroy the city, for my sake:

11. కెయీలా జనులు నన్ను అతని చేతికి అప్పగించుదురా? నీ దాసుడనైన నాకు వినబడినట్లు సౌలు దిగివచ్చునా? ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల దేవా యెహోవా, దయచేసి నీ దాసుడనైన నాకు దానిని తెలియజేయుమని ప్రార్థింపగా అతడు దిగివచ్చునని యెహోవా సెలవిచ్చెను.

11. Will the owners of Keilah surrender me into his hand? Will Saul come down, as thy servant hath heard? O Yahweh, God of Israel, I pray thee, tell thy servant. And Yahweh said He will come down.

12. కెయీలా జనులు నన్ను నా జనులను సౌలు చేతికి అప్పగించుదురా అని దావీదు మరల మనవి చేయగా యెహోవావారు నిన్ను అప్ప గించుదురని సెలవిచ్చెను.

12. Then said David, Will the owners of Keilah surrender me and my men, into the hand of Saul? And Yahweh said They will surrender.

13. అంతట దావీదును దాదాపు ఆరువందల మందియైన అతని జనులును లేచి కెయీలాలో నుండి తరలి, ఎక్కడికి పోగలరో అక్కడకు వెళ్లిరి. దావీదు కెయీలాలోనుండి తప్పించుకొనిన సంగతి సౌలు విని వెళ్లక మానెను.

13. Then arose David and his men, about six hundred, and went forth out of Keilah, and went to and fro, whithersoever they could, and, unto Saul, it was told that David had escaped out of Keilah, so he forbare to go forth.

14. అయితే దావీదు అరణ్యములోని కొండస్థలముల యందును, జీఫు అను అరణ్యమున ఒక పర్వతమందును నివాసము చేయుచుండెను; సౌలు అనుదినము అతని వెదకినను దేవుడు సౌలుచేతికి అతని నప్పగించలేదు.

14. Then David abode in the wilderness, in the fortresses, and he abode in the hill country, in the wilderness of Ziph. And Saul sought him continually, but God delivered him not into his hand.

15. తన ప్రాణము తీయుటకై సౌలు బయలుదేరెనని తెలిసికొని దావీదు జీఫు అరణ్యములో ఒక వనమున దిగెను.

15. Then David saw that Saul had come out to seek his life, David, being in the wilderness of Ziph, in the thicket.

16. అప్పుడు సౌలు కుమారుడైన యోనాతాను లేచి, వనము లోనున్న దావీదునొద్దకు వచ్చినా తండ్రియైన సౌలు నిన్ను పట్టుకొనజాలడు, నీవు భయపడవద్దు,

16. So Jonathan, Saul's son, arose and went unto David in the thicket, and strengthened his hand in God;

17. నీవు ఇశ్రా యేలీయులకు రాజ వగుదువు, నేను నీకు సహకారినౌదును, ఇది నా తండ్రి యైన సౌలునకు తెలిసియున్నదని అతనితో చెప్పి దేవునిబట్టి అతని బలపరచెను.

17. and said unto him, Do not fear, for the hand of Saul my father shall not find thee, but, thou, shalt become king over Israel, and, I, shall be, next, unto thee, yea and, Saul my father, knoweth this.

18. వీరిద్దరు యెహోవా సన్నిధిని నిబంధన చేసికొనిన తరువాత దావీదు వనములో నిలిచెను, యోనాతాను తన యింటికి తిరిగి వెళ్లెను.

18. And they two solemnised a covenant before Yahweh, and David remained in the thicket, but, Jonathan, departed to his own house.

19. జీఫీయులు బయలుదేరి గిబియాలోనున్న సౌలునొద్దకు వచ్చియెషీమోనుకు దక్షిణమున నున్న హకీలామన్యము లోని అరణ్యమున కొండ స్థలములయందు మా మధ్య దావీదు దాగియున్నాడే.

19. Then came up the Ziphites unto Saul in Gibeah, saying, Is not David hiding himself with us, in the strongholds in the thicket, in the hill of Hachilah, which is on the right of Jeshimon?

20. రాజా, నీ మనోభీష్టమంతటి చొప్పున దిగిరమ్ము; రాజవైన నీ చేతికి అతనిని అప్పగించుట మా పని అని చెప్పగా

20. Now, therefore, according to all the desire of thy soul O king, to come down, come! and, ours, will it be to surrender him into the hand of the king.

21. సౌలు వారితో ఇట్లనెనుమీరు నాయందు కనికరపడినందుకై మీకు యెహోవా ఆశీర్వాదము కలుగును గాక.

21. Then said Saul, Blessed, be ye, of Yahweh, because ye have taken pity upon me.

22. మీరు పోయి అతడు ఉండుస్థలము ఏదయినది, అతనిని చూచినవాడు ఎవడయినది నిశ్చయముగా తెలిసికొనుడి; అతడు బహు యుక్తిగా ప్రవర్తించుచున్నాడని నాకు వినబడెను గనుక

22. Go, I pray you, make ready yet further, and get to know and see his place, where may be his track, who hath seen him there, for it hath been said unto me, Cunning indeed, is, he!

23. మీరు బహు జాగ్రత్తగా నుండి, అతడుండు మరుగు తావులను కని పెట్టియున్న సంగతియంత నాకు తెలియజేయుటకై మరల నాయొద్దకు తప్పక రండి, అప్పుడు నేను మీతో కూడా వత్తును, అతడు దేశములో ఎక్కడనుండినను యూదావారందరిలో నేను అతని వెదకి పట్టుకొందును.

23. See, then, and get to know of all the hiding places, where he hideth himself, and return unto me, for certainty, then will I go with you, and it shall be, if he is in the land, that I will search him out, through all the thousands of Judah.

24. అంతట వారు లేచి సౌలుకంటె ముందు జీఫునకు తిరిగి వెళ్లిరి. దావీదును అతని జనులును యెషీమోనుకు దక్షిణపు వైపుననున్న మైదానములోని మాయోను అరణ్యములో ఉండగా

24. So they arose and departed to Ziph, before Saul, but, David and his men, were in the wilderness of Maon, in the Arabah, to the right of Jeshimon.

25. సౌలును అతని జనులును తన్ను వెదకుటకై బయలుదేరిన మాట దావీదు విని, కొండ శిఖరము దిగి మాయోను అరణ్యమందు నివాసము చేసెను. సౌలు అది విని మాయోను అరణ్యములో దావీదును తరుమ బోయెను.

25. Then Saul and his men departed, to seek him ; but it had been told David, and he had gone down the cliff, and taken up his abode in the wilderness of Maon, and when Saul had, heard it, he pursued David in the wilderness of Maon.

26. అయితే సౌలు పర్వతము ఈ తట్టునను దావీదును అతని జనులును పర్వతము ఆ తట్టునను పోవుచుండగా దావీదు సౌలుదగ్గరనుండి తప్పించుకొని పోవలెనని త్వరపడుచుండెను. సౌలును అతని జనులును దావీదును అతని జనులను పట్టుకొనవలెనని వారిని చుట్టు కొనుచుండిరి.

26. And Saul went on this side of the mountain, and, David and his men, on that side of the mountain, wherefore David became hurried, to get away from the presence of Saul, but, Saul and his men, were surrounding David and his men, to capture then:

27. ఇట్లుండగా దూత యొకడు సౌలునొద్దకు వచ్చినీవు త్వరగా రమ్ము, ఫిలిష్తీయులు దండెత్తి వచ్చి దేశములో చొరబడియున్నారని చెప్పగా

27. when, a messenger, came unto Saul, saying, Haste thee and come! for the Philistines have spread over the land.

28. సౌలు దావీదును తరుముట మాని వెనుకకు తిరిగి ఫిలిష్తీయులను ఎదుర్కొనబోయెను. కాబట్టి సెలహమ్మలెకోతు అని ఆ స్థలమునకు పేరు పెట్టబడెను.

28. Then returned Saul from pursuing David, and departed to meet the Philistines, for which cause, they called that place Sela-hammahlekoth 'the Cliff of Separation' .

29. తరువాత దావీదు అక్కడనుండి పోయి ఏన్గెదీకి వచ్చి కొండ స్థలములలో నివాసము చేయుచుండెను.

29. And David went up from thence, and abode in the strongholds of En-gedi.
