1. సమూయేలు మృతినొందగా ఇశ్రాయేలీయులందరు కూడుకొని అతడు చనిపోయెనని ప్రలాపించుచు, రామా లోనున్న అతని ఇంటి నివేశనములో అతని సమాధిచేసిన తరువాత దావీదు లేచి పారాను అరణ్యమునకు వెళ్ళెను.

1. And Samuel died, and all Israel was gathered, and mourned for him. And they buried him in his house, in Ramah. And David rose up and went down to the wilderness of Paran.

2. And a certain man was in Maon, and his work was in Carmel. And the man was very great, and there were three thousand sheep and a thousand goats to him. And he was shearing his flock in Carmel.

3. And the man's name was Nabal, and his wife's name, Abigail. And the woman was of good understanding, and beautiful of form. And the man was cruel and evil in his dealings. And He was of Caleb.

4. And David heard in the wilderness that Nabal was shearing his flock.

5. తన పని వారిలో పదిమందిని పిలిచి వారితో ఇట్లనెనుమీరు కర్మెలునకు నాబాలు నొద్దకు పోయి, నా పేరు చెప్పి కుశల ప్రశ్నలడిగి

5. And David sent ten young men, and David said to the young men, Go up to Carmel, and you shall come to Nabal and ask him of his welfare in my name.

6. ఆ భాగ్యవంతునితోనీకును నీ యింటికిని నీకు కలిగిన అంతటికిని క్షేమమవునుగాక అని పలికి యీ వర్తమానము తెలియజెప్పవలెను.

6. And say this, Long life and peace to you! And peace to your house, and peace to all that you have.

7. నీ యొద్ద గొఱ్ఱెలబొచ్చు కత్తిరించు వారున్నారను సంగతి నాకు వినబడెను; నీ గొఱ్ఱెకాపరులు మా దగ్గరనుండగా మేము వారికి ఏ కీడునుచేసి యుండలేదు; వారు కర్మెలులో నున్నంతకాలము వారేదియు పోగొట్టుకొనలేదు;

7. And now, I have heard that you have shearers. And your shepherds have been with us; we have not shamed them, nor was anything missing to them all the days they were in Carmel.

8. నీ పని వారిని నీవు అడిగినయెడల వారాలాగు చెప్పుదురు. కాబట్టి నా పనివారికి దయ చూపుము. శుభదినమున మేము వచ్చితివిు గదా; నీ కిష్టము వచ్చినట్టు నీ దాసులకును నీ కుమారుడైన దావీదునకును ఇమ్ము.

8. Ask your young men, and they will tell you. And may the young men find favor in your eyes, for we have come at a good day. Please give that which your hand finds to your servants, and to your son, to David.

9. దావీదు పనివారు వచ్చి అతని పేరు చెప్పి ఆ మాటలన్నిటిని నాబాలునకు తెలియజేసి కూర్చుండగా

9. And the young men of David came and spoke to Nabal according to all these words, in the name of David, and rested.

10. నాబాలు - దావీదు ఎవడు? యెష్షయి కుమారుడెవడు? తమ యజ మానులను విడిచి పారిపోయిన దాసులు ఇప్పుడు అనేకు లున్నారు.

10. And Nabal answered David's servants and said, Who is David, and who the son of Jesse? The servants have multiplied today who have broken away from his master.

11. నేను సంపాదించుకొనిన అన్నపానము లను, నా గొఱ్ఱెలబొచ్చు కత్తిరించువారికొరకు నేను వధించిన పశుమాంసమును తీసి, నేను బొత్తిగా ఎరుగని వారి కిత్తునా? అని దావీదు దాసులతో చెప్పగా

11. And shall I take my bread, and my water, and my meat which I have killed for my shearers, and give to men whom I have not known, from where they are?

12. దావీదు పనివారు వెనుకకు తిరిగి దోవపట్టుకొని పోయి అతనికి ఈ మాటలన్నియు తెలియజేసిరి.

12. And the young men of David turned to their way, and returned and came and told him according to all these words.

13. అంతట దావీదు వారితోమీరందరు మీ కత్తులను ధరించుకొను డనగా వారు కత్తులు ధరించుకొనిరి, దావీదు కూడను కత్తి ఒకటి ధరించెను. దావీదు వెనుక దాదాపు నాలుగు వందలమంది బయలుదేరగా రెండువందల మంది సామాను దగ్గర నిలిచిరి.

13. And David said to his men, Each man gird on his sword. And David also girded on his sword. And about four hundred men went up after David and two hundred stayed by the baggage.

14. పనివాడు ఒకడు నాబాలు భార్యయైన అబీగయీలుతో ఇట్లనెను అమ్మా, దావీదు అరణ్యములో నుండి, మన యజమానుని కుశల ప్రశ్నలడుగుటకై దూతలను పంపించగా అతడు వారితో కఠినముగా మాట లాడెను.

14. And one young man of the youths told Abigail the wife of Nabal, saying, Behold, David has sent messengers out of the wilderness to bless our lord, and he screamed at them.

15. అయితే ఆ మనుష్యులు మాకెంతో ఉపకారము చేసియున్నారు మేము పొలములో వారి మధ్యను సంచరించుచున్నంత సేపు అపాయము గాని నష్టముగాని మాకు సంభవింపనేలేదు.

15. And the men were good to us, and have not shamed us, and we have not missed anything all the days we have gone up and down with them when we were in the field.

16. మేము గొఱ్ఱెలను కాయు చున్నంతసేపు వారు రాత్రింబగళ్లు మాచుట్టు ప్రాకారముగా ఉండిరి.

16. They have been a wall to us both by day and by night, all the days we have been with them, feeding the flock.

17. అయితే మా యజమానునికిని అతని ఇంటి వారికందరికిని వారు కీడుచేయ నిశ్చయించి యున్నారు గనుక ఇప్పుడు నీవు చేయవలసినదానిని బహు జాగ్రత్తగా ఆలోచించుము. మన యజమానుడు బహు పనికి మాలినవాడు, ఎవనిని తనతో మాటలాడ నీయడు అనెను.

17. And now, know and consider what you should do; for evil has been determined against our lord, and on all his house. And he is a son of worthlessness, no one can speak to him.

18. అందుకు అబీగయీలు నాబాలుతో ఏమియు చెప్పక త్వరపడి రెండువందల రొట్టెలను, రెండు ద్రాక్షారసపు తిత్తులను, వండిన అయిదు గొఱ్ఱెల మాంస మును, అయిదు మానికల వేచిన ధాన్యమును, నూరు ద్రాక్షగెలలను, రెండువందల అంజూరపు అడలను గార్ద భములమీద వేయించి

18. And Abigail hurried and took two hundred loaves, and two skins of wine, and five prepared sheep, and five measures of roasted grain, and a hundred bunches of raisins, and two hundred cakes of figs. And she set them on the asses.

19. And she said to her young men, Pass on before me. Behold, I am coming after you. But she did not tell her husband Nabal.

20. గార్దభముమీద ఎక్కి పర్వతపు లోయలోనికి వచ్చుచుండగా, దావీదును అతని జనులును ఆమెకు ఎదురుపడిరి, ఆమె వారిని కలిసి కొనెను.

20. And it happened she was riding on the ass and coming down by the cover of the mountain. And, behold, David and his men were coming down to meet her; and she met them.

21. అంతకుమునుపు దావీదునాబాలునకు కలిగిన దాని అంతటిలో ఏదియు పోకుండ ఈ అరణ్యములో అతని ఆస్తి అంతయు నేను వ్యర్థముగా కాయుచు వచ్చితిని; ఉపకారమునకు నాకు అపకారము చేసియున్నాడే

21. And David had said, Surely, in vain I have guarded all that belongs to this fellow in the wilderness, so that not anything was missed of all that was his. And he has returned to me evil for good.

22. అని అనుకొని అతనికున్న వారిలో ఒక మగపిల్లవానినైనను తెల్లవారునప్పటికి నేనుండనియ్యను; లేదా దేవుడు మరి గొప్ప అపాయము దావీదు శత్రువులకు కలుగ జేయునుగాక అని ప్రమాణము చేసియుండెను.

22. So may God do to the enemies of David, and may He do more so, if I leave any of all that is to him to the light of the morning, of one who urinates against a wall.

23. అబీగయీలు దావీదును కనుగొని, గార్దభముమీదనుండి త్వరగా దిగి దావీదునకు సాష్టాంగ నమస్కారముచేసి అతని పాదములు పట్టుకొని ఇట్లనెను

23. And Abigail saw David, and she hurried, and she dismounted from the ass and fell on her face before David and bowed to the earth.

24. నా యేలినవాడా, యీ దోషము నాదని యెంచుము; నీ దాసురాలనైన నన్ను మాటలాడ నిమ్ము, నీ దాసురాలనైన నేను చెప్పుమాటలను ఆలకించుము;

24. And she fell at his feet and said, On me, even me, my lord, be the iniquity. And please, let your handmaid speak in your ears; and hear the words of your handmaid.

25. నా యేలిన వాడా, దుష్టుడైన యీ నాబాలును లక్ష్యపెట్టవద్దు, అతని పేరు అతని గుణములను సూచించుచున్నది, అతని పేరు నాబాలు, మోటుతనము అతని గుణము; నా యేలినవాడు పంపించిన పనివారు నాకు కనబడలేదు.

25. Please, do not let my lord set his heart toward this man of worthlessness, on Nabal. For as his name is, so is he. Nabal is his name, and foolishness is with him. And I, your handmaid, did not see the young men of my lord whom you sent.

26. నా యేలినవాడా, యెహోవా జీవముతోడు నీ జీవముతోడు ప్రాణహాని చేయకుండ యెహోవా నిన్ను ఆపియున్నాడు. నీ చెయ్యి నిన్ను సంరక్షించెనన్నమాట నిజమని యెహోవా జీవముతోడు నీ జీవముతోడు అని ప్రమాణము చేయు చున్నాను. నీ శత్రువులును నా యేలినవాడవైన నీకు కీడు చేయనుద్దేశించు వారును నాబాలువలె ఉందురు గాక.

26. And now, my lord, as Jehovah lives, and as your soul lives, in that Jehovah has withheld you from coming in with blood, and delivering your hand for you; even now let your enemies be as Nabal, even those seeking evil to my lord.

27. అయితే నేను నా యేలినవాడవగు నీయొద్దకు తెచ్చిన యీ కానుకను నా యేలినవాడవగు నిన్ను వెంబడించు పనివారికి ఇప్పించి

27. And now this blessing which your handmaid has brought to my lord, even let it be given to the young men who go after my lord.

28. నీ దాసురాలనైన నా తప్పు క్షమించుము. నా యేలినవాడవగు నీవు యెహోవా యుద్ధములను చేయుచున్నావు గనుక నా యేలిన వాడ వగు నీకు ఆయన శాశ్వతమైన సంతతి నిచ్చును. నీవు బ్రదుకు దినములన్నిటను నీకు అపాయము కలుగ కుండును.

28. Please, bear with the transgression of your handmaid, for Jehovah shall certainly make a sure house for my lord. For my lord has fought the battles of Jehovah, and evil has not been found in you all your days.

29. నిన్ను హింసించుటకైనను నీ ప్రాణము తీయుటకైనను ఎవడైన ఉద్దేశించినయెడల, నా యేలిన వాడవగు నీ ప్రాణము నీ దేవుడైన యెహోవాయొద్ద నున్న జీవపుమూటలో కట్టబడును; ఒకడు వడిసెలతో రాయి విసరినట్లు ఆయన నీ శత్రువుల ప్రాణములను విసరివేయును.

29. And if a man rises up to pursue you and to seek your soul, the soul of my lord will be bound up in the bundle of life with Jehovah your God; and the souls of your enemies, He shall sling them from the hollow of the sling.

30. యెహోవా నా యేలినవాడవగు నిన్ను గూర్చి సెలవిచ్చిన మేలంతటిని నీకు చేసి నిన్ను ఇశ్రా యేలీయులమీద అధిపతినిగా నిర్ణయించిన తరువాత

30. And it shall be, when Jehovah does to my lord according to all the good which He has spoken concerning you, and has commanded you to be ruler over Israel,

31. నా యేలినవాడవగు నీవు రక్తమును నిష్కారణముగాచిందించినందుకేగాని, నా యేలినవాడవగు నీవు పగతీర్చు కొని నందుకేగాని, మనోవిచారమైనను దుఃఖమైనను నా యేలినవాడవగు నీకు ఎంత మాత్రమును కలుగక పోవును గాక, యెహోవా నా యేలినవాడవగు నీకు మేలు చేసిన తరువాత నీవు నీ దాసురాలనగు నన్ను జ్ఞాపకము చేసికొనుము అనెను.

31. that this shall not be for a cause of staggering, or of stumbling of heart to my lord, either to shed blood for nothing, or that my lord saved himself. And may Jehovah do good to my lord, and you remember your handmaid.

32. అందుకు దావీదునాకు ఎదురు పడుటకై నిన్ను పంపిన ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల దేవుడైన యెహోవాకు స్తోత్రము కలుగును గాక.

32. And David said to Abigail, Blessed is Jehovah the God of Israel, who has sent you to meet me today.

33. నేను పగ తీర్చుకొనకుండను ఈ దినమున ప్రాణము తీయకుండను నన్ను ఆపినందుకై నీవు ఆశీర్వాదము నొందుదువు గాక. నీవు చూపిన బుద్ధి విషయమై నీకు ఆశీర్వాదము కలుగును గాక.

33. And blessed is your discernment. And blessed are you in that you have kept me from coming in with blood this day, and from delivering myself with my own hand.

34. నీవు త్వరపడి నన్ను ఎదుర్కొనక పోయిన యెడల, నీకు హానిచేయకుండ నన్ను ఆటంకపరచిన ఇశ్రా యేలీయుల దేవుడైన యెహోవా జీవముతోడు తెల్లవారు లోగా నాబాలునకు మగవాడొకడును విడువబడడన్న మాట నిశ్చయము అని చెప్పి

34. And, indeed, as Jehovah the God of Israel lives, who has kept me back from doing evil to you, for unless you had hurried and had come to meet me, surely there would not have been left to Nabal one who urinates against the wall till the light of morning.

35. తనయొద్దకు ఆమె తెచ్చిన వాటిని ఆమెచేత తీసికొనినీ మాటలు నేను ఆలకించి నీ మనవి నంగీకరించితిని, సమాధానముగా నీ యింటికి పొమ్మని ఆమెతో చెప్పెను.

35. And David received from her hand what she had brought to him. And he said to her, Go in peace to your house. See, I have heard your voice, and have accepted your face.

36. అబీగయీలు తిరిగి నాబాలునొద్దకు రాగా, రాజులు విందుచేసినట్లు అతడు ఇంటిలో విందుచేసి, త్రాగుచు బహు సంతోషించుచు మత్తుగానుండెను గనుక తెల్లవారువరకు ఆమె అతనితో కొద్ది గొప్ప మరేమియు చెప్పక ఊరకుండెను.

36. And Abigail came to Nabal. And, behold, he was at a feast in his house, like the feast of the king. And Nabal's heart felt good within him, and he was drunk to excess. And she did not tell him a word, more or less, until the light of the morning.

37. ఉదయ మున నాబాలునకు మత్తు తగ్గియున్నప్పుడు అతని భార్య అతనితో ఆ సంగతులను తెలియజెప్పగా భయముచేత అతని గుండెపగిలెను, అతడు రాతివలె బిగిసికొనిపోయెను.

37. And it happened in the morning, when the wine had gone out of Nabal, his wife told him these things. And his heart died within him, and he became like a stone.

38. పది దినములైన తరువాత యెహోవా నాబాలును మొత్తగా అతడు చనిపోయెను.

38. And it happened about ten days later, Jehovah struck Nabal and he died.

39. నాబాలు చనిపోయెనని దావీదు వినియెహోవా నాబాలు చేసిన కీడును అతని తలమీదికి రప్పించెను గనుక తన దాసుడనైన నేను కీడు చేయకుండ నన్ను కాపాడి, నాబాలువలన నేను పొందిన అవమానమును తీర్చిన యెహోవాకు స్తోత్రము కలుగును గాక అనెను. తరువాత దావీదు అబీగయీలును పెండ్లి చేసికొనవలెనని ఆమెతో మాటలాడ తగినవారిని పంపెను.

39. And David heard that Nabal had died, and said, Blessed be Jehovah who has contended for the cause of my reproach from the hand of Nabal; and His servant has been kept back from evil. And Jehovah has caused the evil doing of Nabal to return on his head. And David sent and spoke with Abigail, to take her to himself for a wife.

40. దావీదు సేవకులు కర్మెలులోనున్న అబీగయీలు నొద్దకు వచ్చిదావీదు మమ్మును పిలిచి నిన్ను పెండ్లిచేసికొనుటకై తోడుకొనిరండని పంపెననగా

40. And David's servants came to Abigail at Carmel, and spoke to her, saying, David has sent us to you to take you to him for a wife.

41. ఆమె లేచి సాగిలపడినా యేలినవాని చిత్తము; నా యేలినవాని సేవకుల కాళ్లు కడుగుటకు నా యేలినవాని దాసురాలనగు నేను సిద్ధముగా నున్నానని చెప్పి

41. And she rose up and bowed her face to the earth, and said, Behold, let your handmaid be a servant to wash the feet of the servants of my lord.

42. త్వరగా లేచి గార్దభముమీద ఎక్కితన వెనుక నడచుచున్న అయిదుగురు పనికత్తెలతో కూడ దావీదు పంపిన దూతలవెంబడి రాగా దావీదు ఆమెను పెండ్లి చేసికొనెను.

42. And Abigail hurried and arose and rode on an ass, and five of her young women following her. And she went after David's messengers. And she became a wife to him.

43. మరియు దావీదు యెజ్రెయేలు స్త్రీ యైన అహీనోయమును పెండ్లి చేసికొనియుండెను; వారిద్దరు అతనికి భార్యలుగా ఉండిరి.

43. And David had taken Ahinoam from Jezreel. And they became, even both of them, wives to him.

44. సౌలు తన కుమార్తె యైన మీకాలు అను దావీదు భార్యను పల్తీయేలను గల్లీమువాడైన లాయీషు కుమారునికి ఇచ్చి యుండెను.

44. And Saul gave his daughter Michal, David's wife, to Phalti the son of Laish, who was of Gallim.
