1. అంతట కిర్యత్యారీమువారు వచ్చి యెహోవా మంద సమును తీసికొనిపోయి కొండయందుండే అబీనాదాబు ఇంట చేర్చి దానిని కాపాడుటకై అతని కుమారుడైన ఎలియాజరును ప్రతిష్ఠించిరి.

1. And the men of Kirjath Jearim came, and brought up the ark of the covenant of the Lord. And they brought it into the house of Aminadab on the hill; and they sanctified Eleazar his son to keep the ark of the covenant of the Lord.

2. మందసము కిర్యత్యారీములోనుండిన కాలము ఇరువై సంవత్సరములాయెను. ఇశ్రాయేలీయులందరు యెహో వాను అనుసరింప దుఃఖించుచుండగా

2. And it came to pass from the time that the ark was in Kirjath Jearim, the days were multiplied, and [the time] was twenty years; and all the house of Israel looked after the Lord.

3. సమూయేలు ఇశ్రాయేలీయులందరితో ఇట్లనెనుమీ పూర్ణహృదయ ముతో యెహోవాయొద్దకు మీరు మళ్లుకొనినయెడల, అన్యదేవతలను అష్తారోతు దేవతలను మీ మధ్యనుండి తీసి వేసి, పట్టుదలగలిగి యెహోవా తట్టు మీ హృదయములను త్రిప్పి ఆయ నను సేవించుడి. అప్పుడు ఆయన ఫిలిష్తీయుల చేతిలోనుండి మిమ్మును విడిపించును.

3. And Samuel spoke to all the house of Israel, saying, If you return to the Lord with all your heart, [then] take away the strange gods from your midst, and the groves, and prepare your hearts to serve the Lord, and serve Him only; and He shall deliver you from the hand of the Philistines.

4. అంతట ఇశ్రాయేలీయులు బయలు దేవతలను అష్తారోతు దేవత లను తీసివేసి యెహోవాను మాత్రమే సేవించిరి.

4. And the children of Israel took away Baalim and the groves of Astaroth, and served the Lord only.

5. అంతట సమూయేలుఇశ్రాయేలీయులందరిని మిస్పాకు పిలువనంపుడి; నేను మీపక్షమున యెహోవాను ప్రార్థన చేతునని చెప్పగా

5. And Samuel said, Gather all Israel to Mizpah, and I will pray for you to the Lord.

6. వారు మిస్పాలో కూడు కొని నీళ్లుచేది యెహోవా సన్నిధిని కుమ్మరించి ఆ దినము ఉపవాసముండియెహోవా దృష్టికి మేము పాపాత్ములమని ఒప్పుకొనిరి. మిస్పాలో సమూయేలు ఇశ్రాయేలీ యులకు న్యాయము తీర్చుచువచ్చెను.

6. And they were gathered together to Mizpah, and they drew water, and poured it out upon the earth before the Lord. And they fasted on that day, and said, We have sinned before the Lord. And Samuel judged the children of Israel in Mizpah.

7. ఇశ్రాయేలీయులు మిస్పాలో కూడియున్నారని ఫిలిష్తీయులు విని నప్పుడు ఫిలిష్తీయుల సర్దారులు ఇశ్రాయేలుమీదికి వచ్చిరి. ఈ సంగతి ఇశ్రాయేలీయులు విని ఫిలిష్తీయులకు భయపడి

7. And the Philistines heard that all the children of Israel were gathered together to Mizpah. And the lords of the Philistines went up against Israel, and the children of Israel heard, and they feared before the Philistines.

8. మన దేవుడైన యెహోవాను ఫిలిష్తీయుల చేతిలో నుండి మనలను రక్షించునట్లుగా మాకొరకు ఆయనను ప్రార్థనచేయుట మానవద్దని సమూయేలునొద్ద మనవి చేసిరి

8. And the children of Israel said to Samuel, Cease not to cry to the Lord your God for us, and He shall save us out of the hand of the Philistines.

9. సమూయేలు పాలు విడువని ఒక గొఱ్ఱెపిల్లను తెచ్చి యెహోవాకు సర్వాంగ బలిగా అర్పించి, ఇశ్రా యేలీయుల పక్షమున యెహోవాను ప్రార్థనచేయగా యెహోవా అతని ప్రార్థన అంగీకరించెను.

9. And Samuel took a suckling lamb, and offered it up as a whole burnt offering with all the people to the Lord. And Samuel cried to the Lord for Israel, and the Lord heard him.

10. సమూయేలు దహనబలి అర్పించుచుండగా ఫిలిష్తీయులు యుద్ధము చేయుటకై ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల మీదికి వచ్చిరి. అయితే యెహోవా ఆ దినమున ఫిలిష్తీయులమీద మెండుగా ఉరుములు ఉరిమించి వారిని తారుమారు చేయగా వారు ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల చేత ఓడిపోయిరి.

10. And Samuel was offering the whole burnt offering; and the Philistines drew near to war against Israel; and the Lord thundered with a mighty sound in that day upon the Philistines, and they were confounded and overthrown before Israel.

11. ఇశ్రాయేలీయులు మిస్పాలో నుండి బయలుదేరి బేత్కారు వరకు ఫిలిష్తీయు లను తరిమి హతము చేసిరి.

11. And the men of Israel went forth out of Mizpah, and pursued the Philistines, and struck them as far as Beth Car.

12. అప్పుడు సమూయేలు ఒక రాయి తీసి మిస్పాకును షేనుకును మధ్య దానిని నిలిపియింతవరకు యెహోవా మనకు సహాయము చేసెనని చెప్పి దానికి ఎబెనెజరు అను పేరు పెట్టెను.

12. And Samuel took a stone, and set it up between Mizpah and the old [city]; and he called the name of it Ebenezer, stone of the helper; and he said, Thus far has the Lord helped us.

13. ఈలాగున ఫిలిష్తీయులు అణపబడినవారై ఇశ్రాయేలు సరిహద్దులోనికి తిరిగి రాక ఆగిపోయిరి. సమూయేలు ఉండిన దినములన్నిటను యెహోవా హస్తము ఫిలిష్తీయులకు విరోధముగా ఉండెను.

13. So the Lord humbled the Philistines, and they no longer came into the border of Israel; and the hand of the Lord was against the Philistines all the days of Samuel.

14. మరియు ఫిలిష్తీయులు ఇశ్రా యేలీయుల యొద్దనుండి పట్టుకొనిన పట్టణములు ఇశ్రా యేలీయులకు తిరిగి వచ్చెను. ఎక్రోనునుండి గాతు వరకున్న గ్రామములను వాటి పొలములను ఇశ్రాయేలీయులు ఫిలిష్తీయుల చేతిలోనుండి విడిపించిరి. మరియు ఇశ్రాయేలీయులకును అమోరీయులకును సమాధానము కలిగెను.

14. And the cities which the Philistines took from the children of Israel were restored; and they restored them to Israel from Ekron to Gath. And they took the coast of Israel out of the hand of the Philistines; and there was peace between Israel and the Amorite.

15. సమూయేలు తాను బ్రదికిన దినములన్నియు ఇశ్రాయేలీయులకు న్యాయాధిపతిగా ఉండెను.

15. And Samuel judged Israel all the days of his life.

16. ఏటేట అతడు బేతేలునకును గిల్గాలునకును మిస్పాకును తిరుగుచు ఆ స్థలములయందు ఇశ్రాయేలీయులకు న్యాయము తీర్చుచు వచ్చెను.

16. And he went from year by year on a circuit to Bethel, Gilgal, and Mizpah; and he judged Israel in all these consecrated places.

17. మరియు అతని యిల్లు రామాలోనుండినందున అచ్చటికి తిరిగివచ్చి అచ్చటకూడను న్యాయము తీర్చుచుండెను, మరియు అతడు అక్కడ యెహోవాకు ఒక బలిపీఠము కట్టెను.

17. And his return was [always] to Ramah, because his house was there; and there he judged Israel, and built there an altar to the Lord.
