1. అక్కడనుండి అబ్రాహాము దక్షిణ దేశమునకు తర్లిపోయి కాదేషుకును షూరుకును మధ్య ప్రదేశములో నివసించి గెరారులో కొన్నాళ్లు ఉండెను.

1. Avraham traveled from there toward the land of the South, and lived between Kadesh and Shur. He lived as a foriegner in Gerar.

2. అప్పుడు అబ్రాహాము తన భార్యయైన శారాను గూర్చి ఈమె నా చెల్లెలని చెప్పెను గనుక గెరారు రాజైన అబీమెలెకు శారాను పిలిపించి తన యింట చేర్చుకొనెను.

2. Avraham said about Sarah his wife, "She is my sister." Avimelekh king of Gerar sent, and took Sarah.

3. అయినను రాత్రి వేళ దేవుడు స్వప్నమందు అబీమెలెకు నొద్దకు వచ్చి నీవు నీ యింట చేర్చుకొనిన స్త్రీ ఒక పురుషునికి భార్య గనుక ఆమె నిమిత్తము నీవు చచ్చినవాడవు సుమా అని చెప్పెను.

3. But God came to Avimelekh in a dream of the night, and said to him, "Behold, you are a dead man, because of the woman whom you have taken. For she is a man's wife."

4. అయితే అబీమెలెకు ఆమెతో పోలేదు గనుక అతడు ప్రభువా ఇట్టి నీతిగల జనమును హతము చేయుదువా?

4. Now Avimelekh had not come near her. He said, "Lord, will you kill even a righteous nation?

5. ఈమె నా చెల్లెలని అతడు నాతో చెప్పలేదా? మరియు ఆమె కూడ అతడు నా అన్న అనెను. నేను చేతులతో ఏ దోషము చేయక యధార్థ హృదయముతో ఈ పని చేసితిననెను.

5. Didn't he tell me, 'She is my sister?' She, even she herself said, 'He is my brother.' In the integrity of my heart and the innocence of my hands have I done this."

6. అందుకు దేవుడు అవును, యధార్థ హృదయముతో దీని చేసితివని నేనెరుగుదును; మరియు నీవు నాకు విరోధముగా పాపము చేయకుండ నేను నిన్ను అడ్డగించితిని; అందుకే నేను నిన్ను ఆమెను ముట్టనియ్యలేదు.

6. God said to him in the dream, "Yes, I know that in the integrity of your heart you have done this, and I also withheld you from sinning against me. Therefore I didn't allow you to touch her.

7. కాబట్టి ఆ మనుష్యుని భార్యను తిరిగి అతని కప్పగించుము; అతడు ప్రవక్త, అతడు నీ కొరకు ప్రార్థనచేయును, నీవు బ్రదుకుదువు. నీవు ఆమెను అతని కప్పగించని యెడల నీవును నీవారందరును నిశ్చయముగా చచ్చెదరని తెలిసికొనుమని స్వప్నమందు అతనితో చెప్పెను.

7. Now therefore, restore the man's wife. For he is a prophet, and he will pray for you, and you will live. If you don't restore her, know for sure that you will die, you, and all who are yours."

8. తెల్లవారినప్పుడు అబీమెలెకు లేచి తన సేవకులందరిని పిలిపించి ఈ సంగతు లన్నియు వారికి వినిపించినప్పుడు ఆ మనుష్యులు మిగుల భయ పడిరి.

8. Avimelekh rose early in the morning, and called all his servants, and told all these things in their ear. The men were very scared.

9. అబీమెలెకు అబ్రాహామును పిలిపించి నీవు మాకు చేసిన పని యేమిటి? నీవు నా మీదికిని నా రాజ్యము మీదికిని మహాపాతకము తెప్పించునట్లు నేను నీయెడల చేసిన పాపమేమిటి? చేయరాని కార్యములు నాకు చేసితివని అతనితో చెప్పెను.

9. Then Avimelekh called Avraham, and said to him, "What have you done to us? How have I sinned against you, that you have brought on me and on my kingdom a great sin? You have done deeds to me that ought not to be done!"

10. మరియు అబీమెలెకు నీవేమి చూచి ఈ కార్యము చేసితివని అబ్రాహాము నడుగగా

10. Avimelekh said to Avraham, "What did you see, that you have done this thing?"

11. అబ్రాహాము ఈ స్థలమందు దేవుని భయము ఏమాత్రమును లేదు గనుక నా భార్య నిమిత్తము నన్ను చంపుదురనుకొని చేసితిని.

11. Avraham said, "Because I thought, 'Surely the fear of God is not in this place. They will kill me for my wife's sake.'

12. అంతేకాక ఆమె నా చెల్లెలను మాట నిజమే; ఆమె నా తండ్రి కుమార్తెగాని నా తల్లి కుమార్తె కాదు; ఆమె నాకు భార్యయైనది.

12. Moreover she is indeed my sister, the daughter of my father, but not the daughter of my mother; and she became my wife.

13. దేవుడు నన్ను నా తండ్రి యిల్లు విడిచి దేశాంతరము పోవునట్లు చేసినప్పుడు నేను ఆమెను చూచి మనము పోవు ప్రతి స్థలమందు ఇతడు నా సహోదరుడని నన్ను గూర్చి చెప్పుము; నీవు నాకు చేయవలసిన ఉపకారమిదేయని చెప్పితిననెను.

13. It happened, when God caused me to wander from my father's house, that I said to her, 'This is your kindness which you shall show to me. Everywhere that we go, say of me, "He is my brother."'"

14. అబీమెలెకు గొఱ్ఱెలను గొడ్లను దాసదాసీ జనులను రప్పించి, అబ్రాహాముకిచ్చి అతని భార్యయైన శారాను అతనికి తిరిగి అప్పగించెను.

14. Avimelekh took sheep and oxen, men-servants and women-servants, and gave them to Avraham, and restored Sarah, his wife to him.

15. అప్పుడు అబీమెలెకు ఇదిగో నా దేశము నీ యెదుట నున్నది. నీకిష్టమైన స్థలమందు కాపురముండుమనెను.

15. Avimelekh said, "Behold, my land is before you. Dwell where it pleases you."

16. మరియు అతడు శారాతో ఇదిగో నీ అన్నకు నేను వెయ్యి రూపాయలిచ్చియున్నాను. ఇది నీ యొద్ద నున్న వారందరి దృష్టికి ప్రాయశ్చిత్తముగా నుండుటకై యిది నీ పక్షముగా ఇచ్చియున్నాను. ఈ విషయ మంతటిలో నీకు న్యాయము తీరిపోయినదనెను.

16. To Sarah he said, "Behold, I have given your brother a thousand pieces of silver. Behold, it is for you a covering of the eyes to all that are with you. In front of all you are vindicated."

17. అబ్రాహాము దేవుని ప్రార్థింపగా దేవుడు అబీమెలెకును అతని భార్యను అతని దాసీలను బాగుచేసెను; వారు పిల్లలు కనిరి.

17. Avraham prayed to God. God healed Avimelekh, and his wife, and his maid-servants, and they bore children.

18. ఏలయనగా అబ్రాహాము భార్యయైన శారాను బట్టి దేవుడు అబీమెలెకు ఇంటిలో ప్రతి గర్భమును మూసియుండెను.

18. For the LORD had closed up tight all the wombs of the house of Avimelekh, because of Sarah, Avraham's wife.
