1. యాకోబు కన్నులెత్తి చూచినప్పుడు ఏశావును. అతనితో నాలుగువందలమంది మనుష్యులును వచ్చుచుండిరి.

1. Jacob lift up his eyes and saw his brother Esau come, and with him four hundred men. And he divided the children unto Lea and unto Rahel and unto the two maidens.

2. అప్పుడతడు తన పిల్లలను లేయా రాహేలులకును ఇద్దరు దాసీలకును పంచి అప్పగించెను. అతడు ముందర దాసీలను, వారి పిల్లలను వారి వెనుక లేయాను ఆమె పిల్లలను ఆ వెనుక రాహేలును యోసేపును ఉంచి¸

2. And he put the maidens and their children foremost, and Lea and her children after, and Rahel and Joseph hindermost.

3. తాను వారి ముందర వెళ్లుచు తన సహోదరుని సమీపించు వరకు ఏడుమార్లు నేలను సాగిలపడెను.

3. And he went before them and fell on the ground seven times, until he came unto his brother.

4. అప్పుడు ఏశావు అతనిని ఎదుర్కొన పరుగెత్తి అతనిని కౌగలించుకొని అతని మెడమీద పడి ముద్దుపెట్టుకొనెను; వారిద్దరు కన్నీరు విడిచిరి.

4. Esau ran against(to meet) him and embraced him and fell on his neck and kissed him, and they wept.

5. ఏశావు కన్నులెత్తి ఆ స్త్రీలను పిల్లలను చూచి వీరు నీకేమి కావలెనని అడిగినందుకు అతడు వీరు దేవుడు నీ సేవకునికి దయచేసిన పిల్లలే అని చెప్పెను.

5. And he lift up his eyes and saw the wives and their children, and said: what are these which thou there hast? And he said: they are the children which God hath given thy servant.

6. అప్పుడు ఆ దాసీలును వారి పిల్లలును దగ్గరకువచ్చి సాగిలపడిరి.

6. Then came the maidens forth, and did their obeisance.

7. లేయాయు ఆమె పిల్లలును దగ్గరకువచ్చి సాగిలపడిరి. ఆ తరువాత యోసేపును రాహేలును దగ్గరకు వచ్చి సాగిలపడిరి.

7. Lea also and her children came and did their obeisance. And last of all came Joseph and Rahel and did their obeisance.

8. ఏశావు - నాకు ఎదురుగా వచ్చిన ఆ గుంపంతయు ఎందుకని అడుగగా అతడు - నా ప్రభువు కటాక్షము నా మీద వచ్చుటకే అని చెప్పెను.

8. And he said: what meanest thou with all the droves which I met? And he answered: to find grace in the sight of my lord.

9. అప్పుడు ఏశావు - సహోదరుడా, నాకు కావలసినంత ఉన్నది, నీది నీవే ఉంచుకొమ్మని చెప్పెను.

9. And Esau said: I have enough my brother, keep that thou hast unto thyself.

10. అప్పుడు యాకోబు అట్లుకాదు; నీ కటాక్షము నామీద నున్నయెడల చిత్తగించి నాచేత ఈ కానుక పుచ్చుకొనుము, దేవుని ముఖము చూచినట్లు నీ ముఖము చూచితిని; నీ కటాక్షము నామీద వచ్చినది గదా;

10. Jacob answered: oh nay but if I have found grace in thy sight, receive my present of my hand: for I have seen thy face as though I had seen the face of God: wherefore receive me to grace

11. నేను నీయొద్దకు తెచ్చిన కానుకను చిత్తగించి పుచ్చుకొనుము; దేవుడు నన్ను కనికరించెను; మరియు నాకు కావలసినంత ఉన్నదని చెప్పి అతని బలవంతము చేసెను గనుక అతడు దాని పుచ్చుకొని

11. and take my blessing that I have brought thee, for God hath given it me freely. And I have enough of all things. And so he compelled him to take it.

12. మనము వెళ్లుదము; నేను నీకు ముందుగా సాగిపోవుదునని చెప్పగా

12. And he said: let us take our journey and go, and I will go in thy company.

13. అతడునాయొద్ద నున్న పిల్లలు పసిపిల్లలనియు, గొఱ్ఱెలు మేకలు పశువులు పాలిచ్చునవి అనియు నా ప్రభువుకు తెలియును. ఒక్కదినమే వాటిని వడిగా తోలినయెడల ఈ మంద అంతయు చచ్చును.

13. And he said unto him: my lord knoweth that I have tender children, ewes and kine with young, under mine hand, which if men should overdrive but even one day, the whole flock would die.

14. నా ప్రభువు దయచేసి తన దాసునికి ముందుగా వెళ్లవలెను. నేను నా ప్రభువునొద్దకు శేయీరునకు వచ్చువరకు, నా ముందర నున్న మందలు నడువగలిగిన కొలదిని ఈ పిల్లలు నడువగలిగినకొలదిని వాటిని మెల్లగా నడిపించుకొని వచ్చెదనని అతనితో చెప్పెను.

14. Let my lord therefore go before his servant and I will drive fair and softly, according as the cattle that goeth before me and the children, be able to endure: until I come to my lord unto Seir.

15. అప్పుడు ఏశావు - నీ కిష్టమైన యెడల నాయొద్దనున్న యీ జనులలో కొందరిని నీ యొద్ద విడిచిపెట్టుదునని చెప్పగా అతడు అదియేల? నా ప్రభువు కటాక్షము నామీద నుండనిమ్మనెను.

15. And Esau said: let me yet leave some of my folk with thee. And he said: what needeth it? let me find grace in the sight of my lord.

16. ఆ దినమున ఏశావు తన త్రోవను శేయీరునకు తిరిగిపోయెను.

16. So Esau went his way again that same day unto Seir.

17. అప్పుడు యాకోబు సుక్కోతుకు ప్రయాణమై పోయి తనకొకయిల్లు కట్టించుకొని తన పశువులకు పాకలు వేయించెను. అందుచేత ఆ చోటికి సుక్కోతు అను పేరు పెట్టబడెను.

17. And Jacob took his journey toward Sucoth, and built him an house, and made booths for his cattle: whereof the name of the place is called Sucoth.

18. అట్లు యాకోబు పద్దనరాములో నుండి వచ్చిన తరువాత కనాను దేశములోనున్న షెకెమను ఊరికి సురక్షితముగా వచ్చి ఆ ఊరిముందర తన గుడారములు వేసెను.

18. And Jacob went to Salem(came peaceably in) to the city of Sichem in the land of Canaan, after that he was come from Mesopotamia, and pitched before the city,

19. మరియు అతడు తన గుడారములు వేసిన పొలముయొక్క భాగమును షెకెము తండ్రియైన హమోరు కుమారుల యొద్ద నూరు వరహాలకు కొని

19. and bought a parcel of ground where he pitched his tent, of the children of Hemor Sichem's father, for an hundred lambs;

20. అక్కడ ఒక బలిపీఠము కట్టించి దానికి ఏల్‌ ఎలోహేయి ఇశ్రాయేలు అను పేరు పెట్టెను.

20. And he made there an altar, and there called upon the mighty God of Israel.
