1. దావీదు అమాలేకీయులను హతముచేసి తిరిగి వచ్చెను. సౌలు మృతినొందిన తరువాత అతడు సిక్లగులో రెండు దినములుండెను.

1. Now it came to pass after the death of Saul, when David was returned from the slaughter of the Amalekites, and David had abode two days in Ziklag;

2. మూడవ దినమున బట్టలు చింపుకొని తలమీద బుగ్గిపోసికొనిన యొకడు సౌలునొద్దనున్న దండులోనుండి వచ్చెను.

2. it came to pass on the third day that, behold, a man came out of the camp from Saul with his clothes rent and earth upon his head, and [so] it was when he came to David, that he fell to the earth and did obeisance.

3. అతడు దావీదును దర్శించి నేలను సాగిలపడి నమస్కారము చేయగా దావీదునీ వెక్కడనుండి వచ్చితివని యడి గెను. అందుకు వాడుఇశ్రాయేలీయుల సైన్యములోనుండి నేను తప్పించుకొని వచ్చితిననెను.

3. And David said unto him, Where dost thou come from? And he said unto him, I am escaped out of the camp of Israel.

4. జరిగిన సంగతులేవో నాతో చెప్పుమని దావీదు సెలవియ్యగా వాడుజనులు యుద్ధమందు నిలువ లేక పారిపోయిరి. అనేకులు పడి చచ్చిరి, సౌలును అతని కుమారుడైన యోనాతానును మరణమైరి అనెను.

4. And David said unto him, How went the matter? I pray thee, tell me. And he answered, The people fled from the battle, and many of the people fell and are dead, and Saul and Jonathan, his son, are dead also.

5. సౌలును అతని కుమారుడైన యోనాతానును మరణమైరని నీ కేలాగు తెలిసినది అని దావీదు వాని నడుగగా వాడిట్లనెను

5. And David said unto the young man that told him, How dost thou know that Saul and Jonathan, his son, are dead?

6. గిల్బోవ పర్వతమునకు నేను అకస్మాత్తుగా వచ్చినప్పుడు సౌలు తన యీటెమీద ఆనుకొనియుండెను.

6. And the young man that told him said, As I happened by chance upon Mount Gilboa, behold, Saul leaned upon his spear, and the chariots and horsemen followed hard after him.

7. అతడు రథములును రౌతులును తనను వెనువెంట తగులు చుండుట చూచి వెనుక తిరిగి నన్ను కనుగొని పిలిచెను. అందుకుచిత్తము నా యేలినవాడా అని నేనంటిని.

7. And when he looked behind him, he saw me and called unto me. And I answered, Here [am] I.

8. నీవెవడవని అతడు నన్నడుగగానేను అమాలేకీయుడనని చెప్పితిని.

8. And he said unto me, Who [art] thou? And I answered him, I [am] an Amalekite.

9. అతడునా ప్రాణము ఇంక నాలో ఉన్నదిగాని తల త్రిప్పుచేత నేను బహు బాధ పడుచున్నాను ; నీవు నా దగ్గర నిలువబడి నన్ను చంపుమని సెలవియ్యగా,

9. He said unto me again, Stand, I pray thee, upon me and slay me, for anguish is come upon me, and all my soul [is] yet in me.

10. ఈలాగు పడినతరువాత అతడు బ్రదుకడని నేను నిశ్చయించుకొని అతనిదగ్గర నిలిచి అతని చంపితిని; తరువాత అతని తలమీదనున్న కిరీటమును హస్తకంకణము లను తీసికొని నా యేలినవాడవైన నీయొద్దకు వాటిని తెచ్చియున్నాను అనెను.

10. So I stood upon him and slew him because I was sure that he could not live after he was fallen, and I took the crown that [was] upon his head and the bracelet that [was] on his arm and have brought them here unto my lord.

11. దావీదు ఆ వార్త విని తన వస్త్రములు చింపుకొనెను. అతనియొద్ద నున్న వారందరును ఆలాగున చేసి

11. Then David took hold on his clothes and rent them and likewise all the men that [were] with him.

12. సౌలును యోనాతానును యెహోవా జనులును ఇశ్రాయేలు ఇంటివారును యుద్ధములో కూలిరని వారిని గూర్చి దుఃఖపడుచు ఏడ్చుచు సాయంత్రము వరకు ఉపవాసముండిరి.

12. And they mourned and wept and fasted until evening for Saul and for Jonathan his son and for the people of the LORD, and for the house of Israel because they had fallen by the sword.

13. తరువాత దావీదునీవెక్కడ నుండి వచ్చితివని ఆ వార్త తెచ్చినవాని నడుగగా వాడునేను ఇశ్రాయేలు దేశమున నివసించు అమాలేకీయుడగు ఒకని కుమారుడననెను.

13. And David said unto the young man that told him, From where [art] thou? And he answered, I [am] the son of a stranger, an Amalekite.

14. అందుకు దావీదుభయపడక యెహోవా అభిషేకించినవానిని చంపుటకు నీవేల అతని మీద చెయ్యి ఎత్తితివి?

14. And David said unto him, How wast thou not afraid to stretch forth thine hand to destroy the LORD'S anointed?

15. యెహోవా అభిషేకించిన వానిని నేను చంపితినని నీవు చెప్పితివే;

15. Then David called one of the young men and said, Go near [and] fall upon him. And he smote him that he died.

16. నీ నోటి మాటయే నీ మీద సాక్ష్యము గనుక నీ ప్రాణమునకు నీవే ఉత్తరవాదివని వానితో చెప్పి తనవారిలో ఒకని పిలిచినీవు పోయి వాని చంపుమనగా అతడు వానిని కొట్టి చంపెను.

16. And David said unto him, Thy blood [be] upon thy head, for thy mouth has testified against thee, saying, I have slain the LORD'S anointed.

17. యూదావారికి అభ్యాసము చేయవలెనని దావీదు సౌలునుగూర్చియు అతని కుమారుడైన యోనాతానును గూర్చియు ధనుర్గీతమొకటి చేసి దానినిబట్టి విలాపము సలిపెను.

17. And David lamented with this lamentation over Saul and over Jonathan his son.

18. అది యాషారు గ్రంథమందు లిఖింపబడి యున్నది. ఎట్లనగా

18. (He also bade them teach the sons of Judah [the use of] the bow. Behold, [it is] written in the book of righteousness.)

19. ఇశ్రాయేలూ, నీకు భూషణమగువారునీ ఉన్నత స్థలములమీద హతులైరి అహహా బలాఢ్యులు పడిపోయిరి.

19. The glory of Israel is slain upon thy high places! How are the mighty fallen!

20. ఫిలిష్తీయుల కుమార్తెలు సంతోషింపకుండునట్లు సున్నతిలేనివారి కుమార్తెలు జయమని చెప్పకుండునట్లుఈ సమాచారము గాతులో తెలియజేయకుడి అష్కెలోను వీధులలో ప్రకటన చేయకుడి.

20. Tell [it] not in Gath, publish [it] not in the streets of Askelon lest the daughters of the Philistines rejoice lest the daughters of the uncircumcised triumph.

21. గిల్బోవ పర్వతములారా మీమీద మంచైనను వర్షమైనను ప్రథమ ఫలార్పణకు తగిన పైరుగల చేలైననులేకపోవును గాక. బలాఢ్యులడాళ్లు అవమానముగ పారవేయబడెను. తైలముచేత అభిషేకింపబడని వారిదైనట్టు1సౌలు డాలును పారవేయబడెను.

21. Ye mountains of Gilboa, [let there be] no dew, neither [let there be] rain, upon you nor fields of offerings, for there the shield of the mighty is vilely cast away, the shield of Saul, [as though he had] not [been] anointed with oil.

22. హతుల రక్తము ఒలికింపకుండ బలాఢ్యుల క్రొవ్వును పట్టకుండయోనాతాను విల్లు వెనుకతియ్యలేదుఎవరిని హతముచేయకుండ సౌలు కత్తి వెనుక తీసినది కాదు.

22. Without the blood of the slain, without the fat of the mighty, the bow of Jonathan never turned back, and the sword of Saul never returned empty.

23. సౌలును యోనాతానును తమ బ్రతుకునందు సరసులు గాను నెనరుగల వారుగాను ఉండిరితమ మరణమందైనను వారు ఒకరినొకరు ఎడబాసినవారు కారువారు పక్షిరాజులకంటె వడిగలవారుసింహములకంటె బలముగలవారు.

23. Saul and Jonathan [were] loved and desired in their lives, and in their death they were not divided; they were swifter than eagles, they were stronger than lions.

24. ఇశ్రాయేలీయుల కుమార్తెలారా, సౌలునుగూర్చి యేడ్వుడి అతడు మీకు ఇంపైన రక్తవర్ణపు వస్త్రములు ధరింప జేసినవాడుబంగారు నగలు మీకు పెట్టినవాడు.

24. Ye daughters of Israel, weep over Saul, who clothed you in scarlet, with [other] delights, who put ornaments of gold upon your apparel.

25. యుద్ధరంగమునందు బలాఢ్యులు పడియున్నారునీ ఉన్నతస్థలములలో యోనాతాను హతమాయెను.

25. How are the mighty fallen in the midst of the battle! O Jonathan, [thou wast] slain in thine high places.

26. నా సహోదరుడా, యోనాతానానీవు నాకు అతిమనోహరుడవై యుంటివినీ నిమిత్తము నేను బహు శోకము నొందుచున్నానునాయందు నీకున్న ప్రేమ బహు వింతైనదిస్త్రీలు చూపు ప్రేమకంటెను అది అధికమైనది.

26. I am distressed for thee, my brother Jonathan; very pleasant hast thou been unto me; thy love to me was wonderful, passing the love of women.

27. అయ్యయ్యో బలాఢ్యులు పడిపోయిరియుద్ధసన్నద్ధులు నశించిపోయిరి.

27. How are the valiant fallen, and the weapons of war perished!:
