1. వసంతకాలమున రాజులు యుద్ధమునకు బయలుదేరు సమయమున దావీదు యోవాబును అతనివారిని ఇశ్రా యేలీయులనందరిని పంపగా వారు అమ్మోనీయులను సంహ రించి రబ్బా పట్టణమును ముట్టడివేసిరి; అయితే దావీదు యెరూషలేమునందు నిలిచెను.

1. And it came to pass in the beginning of a new year, in the times when kings are wont to go forth to battle, that David sent Joab and his servants with him and all Israel. And they destroyed the children of Ammon, and beseiged Rabah. But David tarried still at Jerusalem.

2. ఒకానొక దినమున ప్రొద్దు గ్రుంకువేళ దావీదు పడకమీదనుండి లేచి రాజనగరి మిద్దెమీద నడుచుచు పైనుండి చూచుచుండగా స్నానముచేయు ఒక స్త్రీ కనబడెను.

2. And it chanced in an evening that David arose from his couch and walked upon the roof of the king's palace, and from the roof saw a very beautiful woman washing herself. And he sent to enquire what woman it should be.

3. ఆమె బహు సౌందర్యవతియై యుండుట చూచి దావీదు దాని సమాచారము తెలిసికొనుటకై యొక దూతను పంపెను, అతడు వచ్చిఆమె ఏలీయాము కుమార్తెయు హిత్తీయుడగు ఊరియాకు భార్యయునైన బత్షెబ అని తెలియజేయగా

3. And it was answered again, that she was Bethsabe the daughter of Eliam and wife to Urias the Hethite.

4. దావీదు దూతలచేత ఆమెనుపిలువనంపెను. ఆమె అతని యొద్దకు రాగా అతడు ఆమెతో శయనించెను; కలిగిన అపవిత్రత పోగొట్టుకొని ఆమె తన యింటికి మరల వచ్చెను.

4. And David sent messengers and fetched her, and she came unto him, and he lay with her. And she was straightway purified of her uncleanness, and returned unto her house.

5. ఆ స్త్రీ గర్భవతియైనేను గర్భవతినైతినని దావీదునకు వర్తమానము పంపగా

5. And when the woman had perceived that she had conceived, she sent and told David, and said: I am with child.

6. దావీదు హిత్తీయుడగు ఊరియాను నాయొద్దకు పంపుమని దూత ద్వారా యోవాబునకు ఆజ్ఞ ఇచ్చెను.

6. Then David sent to Joab, to send unto him Urias the hethite. And Joab sent Urias to David.

7. ఊరియా దావీదు నొద్దకు రాగా దావీదు యోవాబు యోగక్షేమ మును జనుల యోగక్షేమమును యుద్ధసమాచారమును అడి గెను.

7. And when Urias was come unto him he demanded how Joab did, and how the people fared, and how the war prospered.

8. తరువాత దావీదుఇంటికి పోయి శ్రమ తీర్చుకొనుమని ఊరియాకు సెలవియ్యగా, ఊరియా రాజ నగరిలోనుండి బయలువెళ్లెను.

8. And David said moreover to Urias: go down to thine house and wash thy feet. And Urias departed out of the king's palace, and there followed him a service from the king's table:

9. అతనివెనుక రాజు ఫలా హారము అతనియొద్దకు పంపించెను గాని ఊరియా తన యింటికి వెళ్లక తన యేలినవాని సేవకులతో కూడ రాజ నగరిద్వారమున పండుకొనెను.

9. But Urias slept at the door of the king's palace with all the servants of his lord, and went not down to his house.

10. ఊరియా తన యింటికి పోలేదను మాట దావీదునకు వినబడినప్పుడు దావీదు ఊరి యాను పిలిపించినీవు ప్రయాణముచేసి వచ్చితివి గదా; యింటికి వెళ్లకపోతివేమని యడుగగా

10. Then they told David saying: Urias descended not into his house. Then said David unto Urias: seeing that thou art come from journeying, why dost thou not go down unto thine house?

11. ఊరియామందస మును ఇశ్రాయేలు వారును యూదావారును గుడారములలో నివసించుచుండగను, నా యధిపతియగు యోవా బును నా యేలినవాడవగు నీ సేవకులును బయట దండులో నుండగను, భోజనపానములు చేయుటకును నా భార్యయొద్ద పరుండుటకును నేను ఇంటికిపోదునా? నీ తోడు నీ ప్రాణముతోడు నేనాలాగు చేయువాడను కానని దావీదుతో అనెను.

11. And Urias said unto David: the ark and Israel and Juda dwell in pavilions: and my lord Joab and the servants of my lord lie in tents upon the flat earth: and should I then go into mine house, to eat and to drink and to lie with my wife? By thy life and as sure as thy soul liveth I will not do that thing.

12. దావీదునేడును నీ విక్కడ నుండుము, రేపు నీకు సెలవిత్తునని ఊరియాతో అనగా ఊరియా నాడును మరునాడును యెరూషలేములో నిలిచెను.

12. Then said David unto Urias: tarry here this day also, and tomorrow I will let thee depart. And so Urias abode in Jerusalem that day and on the morrow.

13. అంతలో దావీదు అతనిని భోజనమునకు పిలిపించెను; అతడు బాగుగా తిని త్రాగిన తరువాత దావీదు అతని మత్తునిగా చేసెను; సాయంత్రమున అతడు బయలు వెళ్లి తన యింటికి పోక తన యేలినవాని సేవకుల మధ్య పడకమీద పండుకొనెను.

13. And David called him, and he ate and drank before him, and he made him drunk. And at even he went out to lie on his couch with the servants of the lord, and went not down to his house.

14. ఉదయమున దావీదు యుద్ధము మోపుగా జరుగుచున్నచోట ఊరియాను ముందుపెట్టి అతడు కొట్టబడి హతమగునట్లు నీవు అతని యొద్దనుండి వెళ్లి పొమ్మని

14. Wherefore on the morrow David wrote a letter to Joab and sent it by Urias.

15. యోవాబునకు ఉత్తరము వ్రాయించి ఊరియాచేత పంపించెను.

15. And he wrote in the letter saying: put Urias in the forefront of the battle where it is most strong, and come back from him that he may be smitten to death.

16. యోవాబు పట్ట ణమును ముట్టడివేయు చుండగా, ధైర్యవంతులుండు స్థల మును గుర్తించి ఆ స్థలమునకు ఊరియాను పంపెను.

16. And as Joab beseiged the city he assigned Urias unto a place where he wist that strong men were.

17. ఆ పట్టణపువారు బయలుదేరి యోవాబుతో యుద్ధమునకు రాగా దావీదు సేవకులలో కొందరు కూలిరి, హిత్తీయుడగు ఊరియాయును హతమాయెను.

17. And the men of the city came out and fought with Joab. And there were certain overthrown of the people and of the servants of David, and Urias the hethite died also.

18. కాబట్టి యోవాబు యుద్ధ సమాచార మంతయు దావీదునొద్దకు పంపి దూతతో ఇట్లనెను

18. Then Joab sent and told David all the process of the war

19. యుద్ధసమాచారము నీవు రాజుతో చెప్పి చాలించిన తరువాత రాజు కోపము తెచ్చుకొనియుద్ధము చేయునప్పుడు మీరెందుకు పట్టణము దగ్గరకు పోతిరి?

19. and charged the messengers saying: when thou hast made an end of telling the story of war unto the king

20. గోడమీదనుండి వారు అంబులు వేయుదురని మీకు తెలి యక పోయెనా?

20. if he begin to fume and say unto thee: wherefore approached ye so nigh unto the city to fight? wist ye not that men would hurl and shoot from the walls?

21. ఎరుబ్బెషెతు కుమారుడైన అబీమెలెకు ఏలాగు హతమాయెను? ఒక స్త్రీ తిరుగటిరాతి తునకఎత్తి గోడమీదనుండి అతని మీద వేసినందున అతడు తేబేసుదగ్గర హతమాయెను గదా? ప్రాకారముదగ్గరకు మీరెందుకు పోతిరని నిన్నడిగినయెడల నీవుతమరి సేవకు డగు ఊరియాయు హతమాయెనని చెప్పుమని బోధించి దూతను పంపెను.

21. who smote Abimelech son of Jerobeseth? did not a woman cast a piece of a millstone upon him from off the walls, that he died in Thebes? why then went ye nigh the walls? then say thou? thy servant Urias the Hethite is dead also.

22. దూత పోయి యోవాబు పంపిన వర్తమానమంతయు దావీదునకు తెలియజేసెను.

22. And the messengers went and came and shewed David all that Joab had sent him with,

23. ఎట్లనగా ఆ మనుష్యులు మమ్మును ఓడించుచు పొలములోనికి మాకెదురు రాగా మేము వారిని గుమ్మమువరకు వెంటాడి గెలిచితివిు.

23. and said unto David: the men prevail against us, and came out unto us into the field, and we stuck unto them, even unto the entering of the gate.

24. అప్పుడు ప్రాకారముమీదనుండి విలుకాండ్రు తమ సేవకులమీద అంబులువేయగా రాజు సేవ కులలో కొందరు హతమైరి, తమరి సేవకుడైన హిత్తీయుడగు ఊరియాకూడ హతమాయెను.

24. And the shooters shot from the walls, and some of the servants of the king be dead. And thy servant Urias the hethite is dead also.

25. అందుకు దావీదునీవు యోవాబుతో ఈ మాట చెప్పుముఆ సంగతినిబట్టి నీవు చింతపడకుము; ఖడ్గము ఒకప్పుడు ఒకనిమీదను ఒకప్పుడు మరియొకనిమీదను పడుట కద్దు; పట్టణముమీద యుద్ధము మరి బలముగా జరిపి దానిని పడగొట్టుమని చెప్పి, నీవు యోవాబును ధైర్యపరచి చెప్పుమని ఆ దూతకు ఆజ్ఞ ఇచ్చి పంపెను.

25. Then said David unto the messenger, thus wise say unto Joab, let not that thing trouble thee. For the sword devoureth one as well as another: make thy battle more strong against the city and destroy it, and see that thou courage Joab.

26. ఊరియా భార్య తన భర్తయగు ఊరియా హత మైన సంగతి విని తన భర్తకొరకు అంగలార్చెను.

26. And when the wife of Urias heard that her husband was dead, she mourned for him, and as soon as the mourning was ended, David sent and fetched her to his house,

27. అంగ లార్పుకాలము తీరిన తరువాత దావీదు దూతలను పంపి ఆమెను తన నగరికి తెప్పించుకొనగా ఆమె అతనికి భార్య యయి అతనికొక కుమారుని కనెను. అయితే దావీదు చేసినది యెహోవా దృష్టికి దుష్కార్యముగా ఉండెను.

27. and she was his wife and bare him a son. But the deed that David had committed, displeased the LORD.
