1. రాజు తన కుమారునిగూర్చి దుఃఖించుచు ఏడ్చుచున్నాడను సంగతి ఆ దినమున జనులందరు విని,

1. And it was told Joab, Behold, the king weeps and mourns for Absalom.

2. యుద్ధ మందు సిగ్గుతో పారిపోయిన జనులవలె వారు నాడు దొంగనడకలతో వచ్చి పట్టణములో ప్రవేశించిరి;

2. And that day the salvation was [turned] into mourning for all the people, for the people heard it said that day how the king was grieved for his son.

3. నాటి విజయము జనులకందరికి దుఃఖమునకు కారణమాయెను.

3. And the people entered by stealth that day into the city, as people being ashamed steal away when they flee in battle.

4. రాజు ముఖము కప్పుకొని అబ్షాలోమా నా కుమాడుడా అబ్షాలోమా నా కుమారుడా నా కుమారుడా, అని కేకలు వేయుచు ఏడ్చుచుండగా,

4. But the king covered his face, and the king cried with a loud voice, O my son Absalom, O Absalom, my son, my son!

5. రాజు అబ్షాలోమునుగూర్చి దుఃఖించుచు ఏడ్చుచున్నాడను సంగతి యోవాబు విని నగరియందున్న రాజునొద్దకు వచ్చినీ ప్రాణమును నీ కుమారుల ప్రాణములను నీ కుమార్తెల ప్రాణములను నీ భార్యల ప్రాణములను నీ ఉపపత్నుల ప్రాణములను ఈ దినమున రక్షించిన నీ సేవకులనందరిని నేడు సిగ్గుపరచి

5. And Joab entering into the house of the king, said unto him, Thou hast shamed this day the faces of all thy servants, who this day have saved thy life and the lives of thy sons and of thy daughters and the lives of thy wives and the lives of thy concubines,

6. నీ స్నేహితుల యెడల ప్రేమ చూపక నీ శత్రువులయెడలప్రేమ చూపుచు, ఈ దినమున అధిపతులును సేవకులును నీకు ఇష్టజనులుకారని నీవు కనుపరచితివి. మేమందరము చనిపోయి అబ్షాలోము బ్రదికియుండినయెడల అది నీకు ఇష్టమగునన్న మాట యీ దినమున నేను తెలిసికొనుచున్నాను. ఇప్పుడు లేచి బయటికివచ్చి నీ సేవకులను ధైర్యపరచుము.

6. by loving those who hate thee and hating thy friends. For thou hast declared this day that thou dost not regard thy princes nor thy servants. For this day I perceive that if Absalom had lived and we had all died today, [then this would be] right in thine eyes.

7. నీవు బయటికి రాకయుండిన యెడల ఈ రాత్రి యొకడును నీయొద్ద నిలువడని యెహోవా నామమునుబట్టి ప్రమాణము చేసి చెప్పుచున్నాను; నీ బాల్యమునుండి నేటివరకు నీకు ప్రాప్తించిన అపాయము లన్నిటికంటె అది నీకు కష్టతరముగా ఉండునని రాజుతో మనవిచేయగా రాజు లేచి వచ్చి గుమ్మములో కూర్చుం డెను.

7. Now, therefore, arise, go forth and speak unto the heart of thy servants, for I swear by the LORD, if thou go not forth, not one of them will abide with thee tonight and that will be worse unto thee than all the evil that has come upon thee from thy youth until now.

8. రాజు గుమ్మములో కూర్చున్నాడను మాట జనులందరు విని రాజును దర్శింప వచ్చిరిగాని ఇశ్రాయేలువారు తమ తమ యిండ్లకు పారిపోయిరి.

8. Then the king arose and sat in the gate. And it was declared unto all the people, saying, Behold, the king sits in the gate. And all the people came before the king, but Israel had fled every man to his tent.

9. అంతట ఇశ్రాయేలువారి గోత్రములకు చేరికైన జనులందరు ఇట్లనుకొనిరిమన శత్రువుల చేతిలోనుండియు, ఫిలిష్తీయుల చేతిలోనుండియు మనలను విడిపించిన రాజు అబ్షాలోమునకు భయపడి దేశములోనుండి పారిపోయెను.

9. And all the people were in contention throughout all the tribes of Israel, saying, The king saved us out of the hand of our enemies, and he delivered us out of the hand of the Philistines, and now he has fled out of the land for Absalom.

10. మనమీద మనము రాజుగా పట్టాభిషేకము చేసిన అబ్షాలోము యుద్దమందు మరణమాయెను. కాబట్టి మనము రాజును మరల తోడుకొని వచ్చుటను గూర్చి ఏల మాట్లాడక పోతివిు?

10. And Absalom, whom we anointed over us, is dead in battle. Now, therefore, why are ye silent regarding bringing the king back?

11. రాజైన దావీదు ఇది విని యాజకులగు సాదోకునకును అబ్యాతారునకును వర్తమానము పంపిఇశ్రాయేలువా రందరు మాటలాడుకొను సంగతి నగరిలోనున్న రాజునకు వినబడెను గనుక రాజును నగరికి మరల తోడుకొని రాకుండ మీరెందుకు ఆలస్యము చేయుచున్నారు?

11. And King David sent to Zadok and to Abiathar, the priests, saying, Speak unto the elders of Judah, saying, Why shall ye be the last to bring the king back to his house? Seeing that the word of all Israel has come to the king, [to return him] to his house.

12. మీరు నాకు ఎముక నంటినట్టియు మాంసము నంటినట్టియు సహోదరులై యుండగా రాజును తోడుకొని రాకుండ మీరెందుకు ఆలస్యము చేయుచున్నారని యూదావారి పెద్దలతో చెప్పుమని ఆజ్ఞ ఇచ్చెను.

12. Ye [are] my brethren, ye [are] my bones and my flesh; why then are ye the last to bring back the king?

13. మరియు అమాశా యొద్దకు దూతలను పంపినీవు నాకు ఎముక నంటిన బంధువుడవు మాంసము నంటిన బంధువుడవు కావా? యోవాబునకు బదులు నిన్ను సైన్యాధిపతిగా నేను ఖాయ పరచనియెడల దేవుడు గొప్ప అపాయము నాకు కలుగ జేయును గాకని చెప్పుడనెను.

13. Likewise say ye to Amasa, [Art] thou not of my bone and of my flesh? God do so to me and more also, if thou be not captain of the host before me continually in the place of Joab.

14. అతడు పోయి యెవరును తప్పకుండ యూదావారినందరిని రాజునకు ఇష్టపూర్వక ముగా లోబడునట్లు చేయగానీవును నీ సేవకులందరును మరల రావలెనన్న వర్తమానము వారు రాజునొద్దకు పంపిరి. రాజు తిరిగి యొర్దాను నది యొద్దకు రాగా

14. And he inclined the heart of all the men of Judah, even as [the heart of] one man, so that they sent [this word] unto the king, Return thou and all thy servants.

15. యూదావారు రాజును ఎదుర్కొనుటకును రాజును నది యివతలకు తోడుకొని వచ్చుటకును గిల్గాలునకు వచ్చిరి.

15. So the king returned and came to the Jordan. And Judah came to Gilgal, to go to meet the king, to conduct the king over the Jordan.

16. అంతలో బహూరీమునందున్న బెన్యామీనీయుడగు గెరా కుమారుడైన షిమీ త్వరపడి రాజైన దావీదును ఎదుర్కొనుటకై యూదావారితో కూడ వచ్చెను.

16. And Shimei, the son of Gera, son of Jemini, who [was] of Bahurim, hastened and came down with the men of Judah to meet King David.

17. అతని యొద్ద వెయ్యిమంది బెన్యామీనీయులు ఉండిరి. మరియుసౌలు కుటుంబమునకు సేవకుడగు సీబాయును అతని పదు నయిదుగురు కుమారులును అతని యిరువదిమంది దాసులును వచ్చి

17. And [there were] a thousand men of Benjamin with him; likewise Ziba, the servant of the house of Saul and his fifteen sons and his twenty servants with him, who went over the Jordan before the king.

18. రాజు ఎదుట నది దాటిరి; రాజు ఇంటివారిని అవతలకు దాటించుటకును రాజు దృష్టికి అనుకూలమైన దానిని చేయుటకును రేవుపడవను ఇవతలకు తెచ్చి యుండిరి. అంతట గెరా కుమారుడగు షిమీ వచ్చి రాజు యొర్దానునది దాటి పోగానే అతనికి సాష్టాంగపడి

18. Then the ferry boat went over to carry over the king's household and to do what he desired. Then Shimei, the son of Gera, fell down before the king, as he was passing the Jordan,

19. నా యేలినవాడా, నేను చేసిన ద్రోహము నామీద మోపకుము; నా యేలిన వాడవును రాజవునగు నీవు యెరూషలేమును విడిచిన వేళ నీ దాసుడనగు నేను మూర్ఖించి చేసిన దోషమును జ్ఞాపకమందుంచకుము, మనస్సునందుంచు కొనకుము.

19. And said unto the king, Let not my lord impute iniquity unto me, neither retain the memory of the wickedness that thy servant did the day that my lord the king went out of Jerusalem, that the king should guard it in his heart.

20. నేను పాపము చేసితినని నాకు తెలిసినది గనుక యోసేపు వారందరితో కూడ నా యేలినవాడవును రాజవునగు నిన్ను ఎదుర్కొనుటకై నేను ముందుగా వచ్చియున్నాననెను.

20. For I, thy servant, know that I have sinned; therefore, behold, I am come the first this day of all the house of Joseph to go down to meet my lord the king.

21. అంతట సెరూయా కుమారుడగు అబీషైయెహోవా అభిషేకించినవానిని శపించిన యీ షిమీ మరణమునకు పాత్రుడు కాడా అని యనగా

21. But Abishai, the son of Zeruiah, answered and said, Shall not Shimei be put to death for this because he cursed the LORD'S anointed?

22. దావీదుసెరూయా కుమారులారా, మీకును నాకును ఏమి పొందు? ఇట్టి సమయమున మీరు నాకు విరోధులగుదురా? ఇశ్రాయేలువారిలో ఎవరైనను ఈ దినమున మరణశిక్ష నొందుదురా? యిప్పుడు నేను ఇశ్రాయేలువారిమీద రాజు నైతినను సంగతి నాకు తెలిసేయున్నదని చెప్పి ప్రమా ణముచేసి

22. Then David said, What have I to do with you, ye sons of Zeruiah, that ye should this day be adversaries unto me? Shall anyone be put to death today in Israel? Do I not know that I [am] this day king over Israel?

23. నీకు మరణశిక్ష విధింపనని షిమీతో సెల విచ్చెను.

23. And the king said unto Shimei, Thou shalt not die. And the king swore unto him.

24. మరియు సౌలు కుమారుడగు మెఫీబోషెతు రాజును నెదుర్కొనుటకు వచ్చెను. రాజు పారిపోయిన దినము మొదలుకొని అతడు సుఖముగా తిరిగి వచ్చిన నాటివరకు అతడు కాళ్లు కడుగుకొనకయు, గడ్డము కత్తిరించు కొనకయు బట్టలు ఉదుకుకొనకయు నుండెను.

24. Mephibosheth, the son of Saul, also came down to meet the king and had neither washed his feet nor trimmed his beard nor washed his clothes, from the day the king departed until the day he came [again] in peace.

25. రాజును ఎదుర్కొనుటకై అతడు యెరూషలేమునకు రాగా రాజు మెఫీబోషెతూ, నీవు నాతో కూడ రాకపోతివేమని అతని నడిగెను

25. And after he had come to Jerusalem to meet the king, the king said unto him, Why didst thou not go with me, Mephibosheth?

26. అందుకతడునా యేలినవాడా రాజా, నీ దాసుడనైన నేను కుంటివాడను గనుక గాడిదమీద గంత కట్టించి యెక్కి రాజుతో కూడ వెళ్లిపోదునని నేనను కొనగా నా పనివాడు నన్ను మోసము చేసెను.

26. And he answered, My lord, O king, my servant deceived me, for thy servant said, I will saddle me an ass, that I may ride upon it and go to the king because thy servant [is] lame.

27. సీబా నీ దాసుడనైన నన్ను గూర్చి నా యేలినవాడవును రాజవునగు నీతో అబద్ధమాడెను. అయితే నా యేలినవాడవును రాజవునగు నీవు దేవదూత వంటివాడవు, నీ దృష్టికి ఏది యనుకూలమో దాని చేయుము.

27. And he has slandered thy servant unto my lord the king, but my lord the king [is] as an angel of God; do therefore [what is] good in thine eyes.

28. నా తండ్రి యింటి వారందరు నా యేలినవాడవును రాజవునగు నీ దృష్టికి మృతుల వంటివారై యుండగా, నీవు నీ బల్లయొద్ద భోజనము చేయువారిలో నీ దాసుడనైన నన్ను చేర్చితివి. కాబట్టి ఇకను రాజవైన నీకు మొఱ్ఱపెట్టుటకు నాకేమి న్యాయమని అనగా

28. For all [of] my father's house were worthy of death before my lord the king; yet thou didst set thy servant among those that eat at thy own table. What righteousness, therefore, have I yet to cry any more unto the king?

29. రాజునీ సంగతులను నీవిక ఎందులకు ఎత్తెదవు? నీవును సీబాయును భూమిని పంచుకొనుడని నేనాజ్ఞ ఇచ్చితిని గదా అనెను.

29. And the king said unto him, Why speakest thou any more words? I have determined, Thou and Ziba divide the land.

30. అందుకు మెఫీబోషెతునా యేలినవాడవగు నీవు నీ నగరికి తిరిగి క్షేమముగా వచ్చియున్నావు గనుక అతడు అంతయు తీసికొన వచ్చుననెను.

30. And Mephibosheth said unto the king, Let him even take it all, forasmuch as my lord the king is come again in peace unto his own house.

31. మరియు గిలాదీయుడగు బర్జిల్లయి రోగెలీమునుండి యొర్దాను అద్దరికి వచ్చి రాజుతోకూడ నది దాటెను.

31. Barzillai, the Gileadite, also came down from Rogelim and went over the Jordan with the king to conduct him over the Jordan.

32. బర్జిల్లయి యెనుబది సంవత్సరముల వయస్సుకలిగి బహు ముసలివాడై యుండెను. అతడు అధిక ఐశ్వర్యవంతుడు గనుక రాజు మహనయీములో నుండగా అతనికి భోజన పదార్థములను పంపించుచు వచ్చెను.

32. Now Barzillai was a very aged man, of eighty years, who had provided the king with sustenance while he was at Mahanaim, for he [was] a very great man.

33. యెరూషలేములో నాయొద్ద నిన్ను నిలిపి పోషించెదను, నీవు నాతోకూడ నది దాటవలెనని రాజు బర్జిల్లయితో సెలవియ్యగా

33. And the king said unto Barzillai, Come thou over with me, and I will feed thee with me in Jerusalem.

34. బర్జిల్లయిరాజవగు నీతోకూడ యెరూషలేమునకు వచ్చుటకు ఇక నేనెన్ని దినములు బ్రతుకబోవుదును?

34. And Barzillai said unto the king, How long have I to live, that I should go up with the king unto Jerusalem?

35. నేటికి నాకు ఎనుబది యేండ్లాయెను. సుఖదుఃఖములకున్న భేదమును నేను గుర్తింపగలనా? అన్నపానముల రుచి నీ దాసుడనైన నేను తెలిసికొనగలనా? గాయకుల యొక్కయు గాయకురాండ్రయొక్కయు స్వరము నాకు విన బడునా? కావున నీ దాసుడనగు నేను నా యేలిన వాడవును రాజవునగు నీకు ఎందుకు భారముగా నుండ వలెను?

35. I [am] this day eighty years old, [and] shall I tell the difference between the good and the bad? Shall thy servant enjoy what I eat or what I drink? Shall I hear any more the voice of singing men and singing women? Why then should thy servant be yet a burden unto my lord the king?

36. నీ దాసుడనైన నేను నీతోకూడ నది దాటి అవతలకు కొంచెము దూరము వచ్చెదను గాని రాజవగు నీవు నాకంత ప్రత్యుపకారము చేయనేల?

36. Thy servant will go a little way over the Jordan with the king, and why should the king recompense it me with such a reward?

37. నేను నా ఊరి యందుండి మరణమై నా తలిదండ్రుల సమాధియందు పాతిపెట్టబడుటకై అచ్చటికి తిరిగి పోవునట్లు నాకు సెలవిమ్ము, చిత్తగించుము, నీ దాసుడగు కింహాము నా యేలిన వాడవును రాజవునగు నీతోకూడ వచ్చుటకు సెలవిమ్ము; నీ దృష్టికి ఏది యనుకూలమో దానిని అతనికి చేయుమని మనవి చేయగా

37. Let thy servant, I pray thee, turn back again, that I may die in my own city [and be buried] by the grave of my father and of my mother. But behold thy servant Chimham; let him go over with my lord the king, and do to him what shall seem good unto thee.

38. రాజుకింహాము నాతోకూడ రావచ్చును, నీ దృష్టికి అనుకూలమైన దానిని నేను అతనికి చేసెదను, మరియు నావలన నీవు కోరునదంతయు నేను చేసెదనని సెలవిచ్చెను.

38. And the king answered, Chimham shall go over with me, and I will do with him that which shall seem good unto thee, and whatever thou shalt ask of me, [that] will I do for thee.

39. జనులందరును రాజును నది యవతలకు రాగా రాజు బర్జిల్లయిని ముద్దుపెట్టుకొని దీవించెను; తరువాత బర్జిల్లయి తన స్థలమునకు వెళ్లిపోయెను.

39. And all the people went over the Jordan. And when the king had also come over, the king kissed Barzillai and blessed him, and he returned unto his own place.

40. యూదా వారందరును ఇశ్రాయేలువారిలో సగము మందియు రాజును తోడుకొని రాగా రాజు కింహామును వెంటబెట్టుకొని గిల్గాలునకు వచ్చెను.

40. Then the king went on to Gilgal, and Chimham went on with him; and all the people of Judah conducted the king, and also half the people of Israel.

41. ఇట్లుండగా ఇశ్రాయేలు వారందరును రాజునొద్దకు వచ్చిమా సహోదరులగు యూదావారు ఎందుకు నిన్ను దొంగిలించుకొని నీ యింటివారిని నీవారిని యొర్దాను ఇవతలకు తోడుకొని వచ్చిరని యడుగగా

41. And, behold, all the men of Israel came to the king and said unto the king, Why have our brethren the men of Judah, stolen thee away and have brought the king and his household and all David's men with him, over the Jordan?

42. యూదా వారందరురాజు మీకు సమీపబంధువుడై యున్నాడు గదా, మీకు కోపమెందుకు? ఆలాగుండినను మాలో ఎవరమైనను రాజు సొమ్ము ఏమైనను తింటిమా? మాకు యినాము ఏమైన ఇచ్చెనా? అని ఇశ్రాయేలువారితో అనిరి.

42. And all the men of Judah answered the men of Israel, Because the king [is] near of kin to us. Why then are ye angry for this matter? Have we eaten anything at the king's cost? Or has he given us any gift?

43. అందుకు ఇశ్రాయేలు వారురాజులో మాకు పది భాగములున్నవి; మీకంటె మేము దావీదునందు అధిక స్వాతంత్ర్యము గలవారము; రాజును తోడుకొని వచ్చుటనుగురించి మీతో ముందుగా మాటలాడినవారము మేమే గదా మీరు మమ్మును నిర్లక్ష్యము చేసితిరేమి? అని యూదా వారితో పలికిరి. యూదా వారి మాటలు ఇశ్రాయేలు వారి మాటలకంటె కఠినముగా ఉండెను.

43. Then the men of Israel answered the men of Judah, and said, We have ten parts in the king, and we have also more [right] in David than ye; why then did ye not take us into account? Did we not speak first about bringing back our king? But [in the end] the words of the men of Judah were fiercer than the words of the men of Israel.:
