1. ఇది జరిగిన తరువాతయూదా పట్టణములలోనికి నేను పోదునా అని దావీదు యెహోవాయొద్ద విచారణ చేయగాపోవచ్చునని యెహోవా అతనికి సెలవిచ్చెను. నేను పోవలసిన స్థలమేదని దావీదు మనవి చేయగాహెబ్రోనుకు పొమ్మని ఆయన సెలవిచ్చెను.

1. And it came to pass after this that David inquired of the Lord, saying, Shall I go up into one of the cities of Judah? And the Lord said to him, Go up. And David said, Where shall I go up? And He said, To Hebron.

2. కాబట్టి యెజ్రెయేలీయురాలగు అహీనోయము, కర్మెలీయుడగు నాబాలునకు భార్యయైన అబీగయీలు అను తన యిద్దరు భార్యలను వెంటబెట్టుకొని దావీదు అక్కడికి పోయెను.

2. And David went up there to Hebron, [he] and both his wives, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail the wife of Nabal the Carmelite,

3. మరియు దావీదు తనయొద్ద నున్నవారినందరిని వారి వారి యింటివారిని తోడుకొని వచ్చెను; వీరు హెబ్రోను గ్రామములలో కాపురముండిరి.

3. and the men that were with him, everyone and his family; and they dwelt in the cities of Hebron.

4. అంతట యూదావారు అక్కడికి వచ్చి యూదావారిమీద రాజుగా దావీదునకు పట్టాభిషేకము చేసిరి.

4. And the men of Judah came, and there they anointed David to reign over the house of Judah; and they reported to David, saying, The men of Jabesh of the country of Gilead have buried Saul.

5. సౌలును పాతిపెట్టినవారు యాబేష్గిలాదువారని దావీదు తెలిసికొని యాబేష్గిలాదువారియొద్దకు దూతలను పంపిమీరు ఉపకారము చూపి మీ యేలినవాడైన సౌలును పాతిపెట్టితిరి గనుక యెహోవాచేత మీరు ఆశీర్వచనము నొందుదురు గాక.

5. And David sent messengers to the rulers of Jabesh of the country of Gilead, and David said to them, Blessed are you of the Lord, because you have shown this mercy toward your lord, even toward Saul the anointed of the Lord, and you have buried him and Jonathan his son.

6. యెహోవా మీకు కృపను సత్యస్వభావమును అగపరచును, నేనును మీరు చేసిన యీ క్రియనుబట్టి మీకు ప్రత్యుపకారము చేసెదను.

6. And now may the Lord deal in mercy and truth towards you: and I also will repay towards you this good deed, because you have done this.

7. మీ యజమానుడగు సౌలు మృతినొందెను గాని యూదావారు నాకు తమమీద రాజుగా పట్టాభిషేకము చేసియున్నారు గనుక మీరు ధైర్యము తెచ్చుకొని బలాఢ్యులై యుండుడని ఆజ్ఞనిచ్చెను.

7. And now let your hands be made strong, and be valiant; for your master Saul is dead, and moreover the house of Judah has anointed me to be king over them.

8. నేరు కుమారుడగు అబ్నేరు అను సౌలుయొక్క సైన్యాధిపతి సౌలు కుమారుడగు ఇష్బోషెతును మహ నయీమునకు తోడుకొని పోయి,

8. But Abner, the son of Ner, the commander of Saul's army, took Ishbosheth the son of Saul, and brought him up from the camp to Mahanaim;

9. గిలాదువారిమీదను ఆషేరీయులమీదను యెజ్రెయేలుమీదను ఎఫ్రాయిమీయులమీదను బెన్యామీనీయులమీదను ఇశ్రాయేలు వారిమీదను రాజుగా అతనికి పట్టాభిషేకము చేసెను.

9. and made him king over the land of Gilead, and over Thasiri, and over Jezreel, and over Ephraim, and over Benjamin, and over all Israel.

10. సౌలు కుమారుడగు ఇష్బోషెతు నలువదేండ్లవాడై యేల నారంభించి రెండు సంవత్సరములు పరిపాలించెను; అయితే యూదావారు దావీదు పక్షమున నుండిరి.

10. Ishbosheth, Saul's son [was] forty years old when he reigned over Israel; and he reigned two years, but not over the house of Judah, who followed David.

11. దావీదు హెబ్రోనులో యూదావారిమీద ఏలినకాలమంతయు ఏడు సంవత్సరములు ఆరు మాసములు.

11. And the days which David reigned in Hebron over the house of Judah were seven years and six months.

12. అంతలో నేరు కుమారుడగు అబ్నేరును సౌలు కుమారు డగు ఇష్బోషెతు సేవకులును మహనయీములోనుండి బయలుదేరి గిబియోనునకు రాగా

12. And Abner the son of Ner went forth, and the servants of Ishbosheth the son of Saul, from Manahaim to Gibeon.

13. సెరూయా కుమారుడగు యోవాబును దావీదు సేవకులును బయలుదేరి వారి నెదిరించుటకై గిబియోను కొలనునకు వచ్చిరి. వీరు కొలనునకు ఈ తట్టునను వారు కొలనునకు ఆ తట్టునను దిగియుండగా

13. And Joab the son of Zeruiah, and the servants of David, went forth from Hebron, and met them at the Fountain of Gibeon, at the same place: and these sat down by the fountain on this side, and those by the fountain on that side.

14. అబ్నేరు లేచిమన యెదుట ¸యౌవనులు మల్లచేష్టలు చేయుదురా అని యోవాబుతో అనగా యోవాబువారు చేయవచ్చుననెను.

14. And Abner said to Joab, Let now the young men arise, and play before us. And Joab said, Let them arise.

15. లెక్కకు సరిగా సౌలు కుమారుడగు ఇష్బోషెతు సంబంధులైన పన్నిద్దరు మంది బెన్యామీనీయులును దావీదు సేవకులలో పన్నిద్దరు మందియును లేచి మధ్య నిలిచిరి.

15. And there arose and passed over by number twelve of the children of Benjamin, belonging to Ishbosheth the son of Saul, and twelve of the servants of David.

16. ఒక్కొక్కడు తన దగ్గరనున్న వాని తల పట్టుకొని వాని ప్రక్కను కత్తిపొడవగా అందరు తటాలున పడిరి. అందువలన హెల్కత్హన్సూరీమని ఆ స్థలమునకు పేరు పెట్టబడెను. అది గిబియోనునకు సమీపము.

16. And each one grasped the head of his neighbor with his hand, and his sword [was thrust] into the side of his neighbor, and they fell down together: and the name of that place was called The Portion of the Treacherous Ones, which is in Gibeon.

17. తరువాత ఆ దినమున ఘోరయుద్ధము జరుగగా అబ్నేరును ఇశ్రాయేలువారును దావీదు సేవకుల యెదుట నిలువలేక పారిపోయిరి.

17. And the battle was very severe in that day; and Abner and the men of Israel were beaten before the servants of David.

18. సెరూయా ముగ్గురు కుమారులగు యోవాబును అబీషై యును అశాహేలును అచ్చట నుండిరి. అశాహేలు అడవిలేడియంత తేలికగా పరుగెత్తగలవాడు గనుక

18. Now the three sons of Zeruiah were there, Joab, Abishai, and Asahel: and Asahel was swift in his feet as a wild gazelle in the field.

19. అతడు కుడితట్టయినను ఎడమతట్టయినను తిరుగక అబ్నేరును తరుముచుండగా

19. And Asahel followed after Abner, and turned not to go to the right hand or to the left from following Abner.

20. అబ్నేరు వెనుకకు తిరిగినీవు అశా హేలువా అని అతనిని నడుగగా అతడు నేను అశా హేలునే యనెను.

20. And Abner looked behind him, and said, Are you Asahel? And he said, I am.

21. నీవు కుడికైనను ఎడమకైనను తిరిగి ¸యౌవనస్థులలో ఒకని కలిసికొని వాని ఆయుధములను పట్టుకొమ్ము అని అబ్నేరు అతనితో చెప్పినను, అశాహేలు ఈ తట్టయినను ఆ తట్టయినను తిరుగక అతని తరుమగా

21. And Abner said to him, Turn to the right or to the left, and lay hold for yourself on one of the young men, and take to yourself his armor; but Asahel would not turn back from following him.

22. అబ్నేరునన్ను తరుముట మాని తొలగిపొమ్ము, నేను నిన్ను నేలకు కొట్టి చంపినయెడల నీ సహోదరుడగు యోవాబు ముందు నేనెట్లు తలనెత్తుకొనగల ననెను.

22. And Abner said yet again to Asahel, Stand away from me, lest I strike you to the ground! And how should I lift up my face to Joab?

23. అతడునేను తొలగననగా, అబ్నేరు ఈటె మడమతో అతని కడుపులో పొడిచినందున యీటె అతని వెనుకకు వచ్చెను కనుక అతడు అచ్చటనే పడి చచ్చెను. అశాహేలు పడి చచ్చిన స్థలమునకు వచ్చినవారందరు నిలువబడిరి గాని

23. And what does this mean? Return to Joab your brother? But he would not stand away; and Abner struck him with the blunt end of the spear on his loins, and the spear went out behind him, and he fell down there and died on the spot. And it came to pass that everyone that came to the place where Asahel fell and died, stood still.

24. యోవాబును అబీషైయును అబ్నేరును తరుముచు గిబియోనను అరణ్యమార్గములోని గీహ యెదుటి అమ్మాయను కొండకు వచ్చిరి; అంతలో సూర్యుడు అస్త మించెను.

24. And Joab and Abishai pursued after Abner, and the sun went down. And they went as far as the hill of Ammah, which is in the front of Giah, by the desert way of Gibeon.

25. బెన్యామీనీయులు అబ్నేరుతో గుంపుగా కూడుకొని, ఒక కొండమీద నిలువగా

25. And the children of Benjamin who followed Abner gathered themselves together, and they formed themselves into one body, and stood on the top of a hill.

26. అబ్నేరు కేకవేసికత్తి చిరకాలము భక్షించునా? అది తుదకు ద్వేషమునకే హేతువగునని నీ వెరుగుదువుగదా; తమ సహోదరులను తరుమవద్దని నీ వెంతవరకు జనులకు ఆజ్ఞ ఇయ్యక యుందు వని యోవాబుతో అనెను.

26. And Abner called Joab and said, Shall the sword devour perpetually? Know you not that it will be bitter in the end? How long then will you refuse to tell the people to turn from following our brethren?

27. అందుకు యోవాబుదేవుని జీవముతోడు జగడమునకు నీవు వారిని పిలువక యుండినయెడల జనులందరు తమ సహోదరులను తరుమక ఉదయముననే తిరిగి పోయియుందురని చెప్పి

27. And Joab said, As the Lord lives, if you had not spoken, even from the morning the people had each gone up from following his brother.

28. బాకా ఊదగా జనులందరు నిలిచి, ఇశ్రాయేలువారిని తరుముటయు వారితో యుద్ధము చేయుటయు మానిరి.

28. And Joab sounded the trumpet, and all the people departed, and did not pursue after Israel, and did not fight any longer.

29. అబ్నేరును అతనివారును ఆ రాత్రి అంత మైదానము గుండ ప్రయాణము చేసి యొర్దానునది దాటి బిత్రోను మార్గమున మహనయీమునకు వచ్చిరి.

29. And Abner and his men departed at evening, [and went] all that night, and crossed over the Jordan, and went along the whole adjacent [country], and they came to the camp.

30. యోవాబు అబ్నేరును తరుముట మాని తిరిగి వచ్చి జనులను సమకూర్చి లెక్కచూడగా దావీదు సేవకులలో అశాహేలు గాక పందొమ్మండుగురు లేకపోయిరి.

30. And Joab returned from following Abner, and he assembled all the people, and there were missing of the people of David, nineteen men, and Asahel.

31. అయితే దావీదు సేవకులు బెన్యామీనీయులలోను అబ్నేరు జనులలోను మూడువందల అరువది మందిని హతము చేసిరి.

31. And the servants of David struck of the children of Benjamin, of the men of Abner, three hundred and sixty men belonging to him.

32. జనులు అశాహేలును ఎత్తికొనిపోయి బేత్లెహేములోనున్న అతని తండ్రి సమాధియందు పాతిపెట్టిరి. తరువాత యోవాబును అతనివారును రాత్రి అంతయు నడిచి తెల్లవారు సమయమున హెబ్రోనునకు వచ్చిరి.

32. And they took up Asahel, and buried him in the tomb of his father in Bethlehem. And Joab and the men with him went all the night, and the morning rose upon them in Hebron.
