1. అంతట దైవజనుడైన యొకడు యెహోవాచేత సెలవు నొంది యూదాదేశమునుండి బేతేలునకు వచ్చెను. ధూపము వేయుటకై యరొబాము ఆ బలిపీఠమునొద్ద నిలిచి యుండగా

1. And then this happened: Just as Jeroboam was at the Altar, about to make an offering, a holy man came from Judah by GOD's command

2. ఆ దైవజనుడు యెహోవా ఆజ్ఞచేత బలిపీఠమునకు ఈ మాట ప్రక టనచేసెనుబలిపీఠమా బలి పీఠమా, యెహోవా సెలవిచ్చునదేమనగాదావీదు సంత తిలో యోషీయా అను నొక శిశువు పుట్టును; నీమీద ధూపము వేసిన ఉన్నత స్థలముయొక్క యాజకులను అతడు నీమీద అర్పించును; అతడు మనుష్య శల్యములను నీమీద దహనము చేయును.

2. and preached (these were GOD's orders) to the Altar: 'Altar, Altar! GOD's message! 'A son will be born into David's family named Josiah. The priests from the shrines who are making offerings on you, he will sacrifice--on you! Human bones burned on you!''

3. ఈ బలిపీఠము బద్దలై పోయి దానిమీదనున్న బుగ్గి ఒలికి పోవుటయే యెహోవా ఇచ్చు సూచన అని చెప్పి ఆ దినమున ఆ ప్రవక్త సూచన యొకటి యిచ్చెను.

3. At the same time he announced a sign: 'This is the proof GOD gives--the Altar will split into pieces and the holy offerings spill into the dirt.'

4. బేతేలునందున్న బలి పీఠమునుగూర్చి ఆ దైవజనుడు ప్రకటించిన మాట రాజైన యరొబాము విని, బలిపీఠముమీదనుండి తన చెయ్యి చాపి, వానిని పట్టు కొనుమని చెప్పగా అతడు చాపిన చెయ్యి యెండి పోయెను; దానిని వెనుకకు తీసికొనుటకు అతనికి శక్తిలేక పోయెను.

4. When the king heard the message the holy man preached against the Altar at Bethel, he reached out to grab him, yelling, 'Arrest him!' But his arm was paralyzed and hung useless.

5. మరియు యెహోవా సెలవు ప్రకారము దైవజనుడిచ్చిన సూచనచొప్పున బలిపీఠము బద్దలుకాగా బుగ్గి దానిమీదనుండి ఒలికిపోయెను.

5. At the same time the Altar broke apart and the holy offerings all spilled into the dirt--the very sign the holy man had announced by GOD's command.

6. అప్పుడు రాజునా చెయ్యి మునుపటివలె బాగగునట్లు నీ దేవుడైన యెహోవా సముఖమందు నాకొరకు వేడుకొనుమని ఆ దైవజనుని బతిమాలుకొనగా, దైవజనుడు యెహోవాను బతిమాలుకొనెను గనుక రాజు చెయ్యి మరల బాగై మునుపటివలె ఆయెను.

6. The king pleaded with the holy man, 'Help me! Pray to your GOD for the healing of my arm.' The holy man prayed for him and the king's arm was healed--as good as new!

7. అప్పుడు రాజునీవు నా యింటికి వచ్చి అలసట తీర్చుకొనుము, నీకు బహుమతి ఇచ్చెదనని ఆ దైవజనునితో చెప్పగా

7. Then the king invited the holy man, 'Join me for a meal; I have a gift for you.'

8. దైవజనుడు రాజుతో ఇట్లనెనునీ యింటిలో సగము నీవు నాకిచ్చినను నీతోకూడ నేను లోపలికి రాను; ఈ స్థలమందు నేను అన్నపానములు పుచ్చుకొనను;

8. The holy man told the king, 'Not on your life! You couldn't pay me enough to get me to sit down with you at a meal in this place.

9. అన్నపానములు పుచ్చుకొన వద్దనియు, నీవు వచ్చిన మార్గమున తిరిగి పోవద్దనియు యెహోవా వాక్కుచేత నాకు సెలవాయెనని రాజుతో అనెను.

9. I'm here under GOD's orders, and he commanded, 'Don't eat a crumb, don't drink a drop, and don't go back the way you came.''

10. అంతట అతడు తాను బేతేలునకు వచ్చిన మార్గమున వెళ్లక మరియొక మార్గమున తిరిగిపోయెను.

10. Then he left by a different road than the one on which he had walked to Bethel.

11. బేతేలులో ప్రవక్తయగు ఒక ముసలివాడు కాపుర ముండెను. ఇతని కుమారులలో ఒకడు వచ్చి బేతేలులో దైవజనుడు ఆ దినమున చేసిన క్రియలన్నిటిని, అతడు రాజుతో పలికిన మాటలన్నిటిని తమ తండ్రితో తెలియ జెప్పగా

11. There was an old prophet who lived in Bethel. His sons came and told him the story of what the holy man had done that day in Bethel, told him everything that had happened and what the holy man had said to the king.

12. వారి తండ్రి అతడు ఏ మార్గమున వెళ్లిపోయె నని వారినడిగెను; అంతట అతని కుమారులు యూదాదేశ ములోనుండి వచ్చిన దైవజనుడు ఏ మార్గమున వెళ్లిపోయినది తెలిపిరి.

12. Their father said, 'Which way did he go?' His sons pointed out the road that the holy man from Judah had taken.

13. పిమ్మట అతడు తన కుమారులను పిలిచినాకొరకు గాడిదకు గంతకట్టుడని చెప్పగా వారు అతని కొరకు గాడిదకు గంతకట్టిరి. అతడు దానిమీద ఎక్కి దైవజనుని కనుగొనవలెనని పోయి

13. He told his sons, 'Saddle my donkey.' When they had saddled it, he got on

14. మస్తకివృక్షము క్రింద అతడు కూర్చుండగా చూచియూదాదేశములోనుండి వచ్చిన దైవజనుడవు నీవేనా? అని అడుగగా అతడునేనే అనెను.

14. and rode after the holy man. He found him sitting under an oak tree. He asked him, 'Are you the holy man who came from Judah?' 'Yes, I am,' he said.

15. అప్పుడు అతడునా యింటికి వచ్చి భోజనము చేయుమనగా

15. 'Well, come home with me and have a meal.'

16. అతడునేను నీతోకూడ మరలి రాజాలను, నీ యింట ప్రవేశింపను, మరియు నీతో కలిసి ఈ స్థలమందు అన్నపానములు పుచ్చుకొనను

16. 'Sorry, I can't do that,' the holy man said. 'I can neither go back with you nor eat with you in this country.

17. నీవు అచ్చట అన్నపానములు పుచ్చుకొనవద్దనియు, నీవు వచ్చిన మార్గమున పోవుటకు తిరుగవద్దనియు యెహోవా వాక్కుచేత నాకు సెలవాయెనని చెప్పెను.

17. I'm under strict orders from GOD: 'Don't eat a crumb; don't drink a drop; and don't come back the way you came.''

18. అందుకతడునేనును నీవంటి ప్రవక్తనే; మరియు దేవదూత యొకడుయెహోవాచేత సెలవుపొంది అన్నపానములు పుచ్చుకొనుటకై అతని నీ యింటికి తోడుకొని రమ్మని నాతో చెప్పెనని అతనితో అబద్ధమాడగా

18. But he said, 'I am also a prophet, just like you. And an angel came to me with a message from GOD: 'Bring him home with you, and give him a good meal!'' But the man was lying.

19. అతడు తిరిగి అతనితోకూడ మరలి పోయి అతని యింట అన్నపానములు పుచ్చుకొనెను.

19. So the holy man went home with him and they had a meal together.

20. వారు భోజనము చేయుచుండగా అతనిని వెనుకకు తోడుకొని వచ్చిన ఆ ప్రవక్తకు యెహోవా వాక్కు ప్రత్యక్ష మాయెను.

20. There they were, sitting at the table together, when the word of GOD came to the prophet who had brought him back.

21. అంతట అతడు యూదాదేశములోనుండి వచ్చిన దైవజనుని పిలిచియెహోవా ఈలాగున ఆజ్ఞ ఇచ్చుచున్నాడునీ దేవుడైన యెహోవా నీకు ఆజ్ఞా పించినదానిని గైకొనక

21. He confronted the holy man who had come from Judah: 'GOD's word to you: You disobeyed GOD's command; you didn't keep the strict orders your GOD gave you;

22. ఆయన సెలవిచ్చిన నోటి మాట మీద తిరుగబడి నీవు వెనుకకు వచ్చి, నీవు అచ్చట అన్న పానములు పుచ్చుకొనవలదని ఆయన సెలవిచ్చిన స్థలమున భోజనము చేసియున్నావు గనుక, నీ కళేబరము నీ పితరుల సమాధిలోనికి రాకపోవునని యెలుగెత్తి చెప్పెను.

22. you came back and sat down to a good meal in the very place GOD told you, 'Don't eat a crumb; don't drink a drop.' For that you're going to die far from home and not be buried in your ancestral tomb.'

23. అంతట వారు అన్నపానములు పుచ్చుకొనిన తరువాత అచ్చటి ప్రవక్త తాను వెనుకకు తోడుకొని వచ్చిన ఆ ప్రవక్తకు గాడిదమీద గంత కట్టించెను.

23. When the meal was over, the prophet who had brought him back saddled his donkey for him.

24. అతడు బయలుదేరి మార్గమున పోవుచుండగా ఒక సింహము అతనికి ఎదురుపడి అతని చంపెను. అతని కళేబరము మార్గమందు పడియుండగా గాడిద దాని దగ్గర నిలిచి యుండెను, సింహమును శవముదగ్గర నిలిచి యుండెను.

24. Down the road a way, a lion met him and killed him. His corpse lay crumpled on the road, the lion on one side and the donkey on the other.

25. కొందరు మనుష్యులు ఆ చోటికి వచ్చి శవము మార్గమందు పడియుండు టయు, సింహము శవముదగ్గర నిలిచియుండుటయు చూచి, ఆ ముసలిప్రవక్త కాపురమున్న పట్టణమునకు వచ్చి ఆ వర్తమానము తెలియజేసిరి.

25. Some passersby saw the corpse in a heap on the road, with the lion standing guard beside it. They went to the village where the old prophet lived and told what they had seen.

26. మార్గములోనుండి అతని తోడు కొని వచ్చిన ఆ ప్రవక్త ఆ వర్తమానము వినినప్పుడుయెహోవా మాటను ఆలకింపక తిరుగబడిన దైవజనుడు ఇతడే; యెహోవా సింహమునకు అతని అప్పగించి యున్నాడు; యెహోవా సెలవిచ్చిన ప్రకారము అది అతని చీల్చి చంపెను అని పలికి

26. When the prophet who had gotten him off track heard it, he said, 'It's the holy man who disobeyed GOD's strict orders. GOD turned him over to the lion who knocked him around and killed him, just as GOD had told him.'

27. తన కుమారులను పిలిచిగాడిదకు నాకొరకు గంత కట్టుడని చెప్పెను. వారు అతనికొరకు గంత కట్టినప్పుడు

27. The prophet told his sons, 'Saddle my donkey.' They did it.

28. అతడు పోయి అతని శవము మార్గమందు పడి యుండుటయు, గాడిదయు సింహమును శవముదగ్గర నిలిచి యుండుటయు, సింహము గాడిదను చీల్చివేయక శవమును తినక యుండుటయు చూచి

28. He rode out and found the corpse in a heap in the road, with the lion and the donkey standing there. The lion hadn't bothered either the corpse or the donkey.

29. దైవజనుని శవము ఎత్తి గాడిదమీద వేసికొని తిరిగి వచ్చెను. ఈ ప్రకారము ఆ ముసలి ప్రవక్త అంగలార్చుటకును సమాధిలో శవమును పెట్టుటకును పట్టణమునకు వచ్చెను.

29. The old prophet loaded the corpse of the holy man on his donkey and returned it to his own town to give it a decent burial.

30. అతడు తన సమాధిలో ఆ శవమును పెట్టగా జనులుకటకటా నా సహోదరుడా అని యేడ్చిరి.

30. He placed the body in his own tomb. The people mourned, saying, 'A sad day, brother!'

31. మరియు ఇతడు సమాధిలో శవమును పెట్టినేను మరణ మైనప్పుడు దైవజనుడైన యితడు పెట్టబడిన సమాధిలో నన్ను పాతి పెట్టుడి; నా శల్యములను అతని శల్యముదగ్గర ఉంచుడి,

31. After the funeral, the prophet said to his sons, 'When I die, bury me in the same tomb where the holy man is buried, my bones alongside his bones.

32. యెహోవా మాటనుబట్టి బేతేలులోనున్న బలిపీఠమునకు విరోధముగాను, షోమ్రోను పట్టణములో నున్న ఉన్నత స్థలములలోని మందిరములన్నిటికి విరోధము గాను, అతడు ప్రకటించినది అవశ్య ముగా సంభవించునని తన కుమారులతో చెప్పెను.

32. The message that he preached by GOD's command against the Altar at Bethel and against all the sex-and-religion shrines in the towns of Samaria will come true.'

33. ఈ సంగతియైన తరువాత యరొబాము తన దుర్మార్గ మును విడిచిపెట్టక, సామాన్యజనులలో కొందరిని ఉన్నత స్థలములకు యాజకులుగా నియమించెను. తనకిష్టులైన వారిని యాజకులుగా ప్రతిష్ఠించి వారిని ఉన్నత స్థలములకు యాజకులుగా నియమించెను.

33. After this happened, Jeroboam kept right on doing evil, recruiting priests for the forbidden shrines indiscriminately--anyone who wanted to could be a priest at one of the local shrines.

34. యరొబాముసంతతివారిని నిర్మూలము చేసి భూమిమీద ఉండకుండ నశింపజేయునట్లుగా ఇది వారికి పాపకారణమాయెను.

34. This was the root sin of Jeroboam's government. And it was this that ruined him.
