1. తనయొద్ద గుఱ్ఱములను రథములను సమకూర్చుకొనిన ముప్పది ఇద్దరు రాజులుండగా సిరియారాజైన బెన్హదదు తన సైన్యమంతటిని సమకూర్చుకొని బయలుదేరి షోమ్రోనుకు ముట్టడి వేసి దానిమీద యుద్ధము చేసెను.

1. King Ben-Hadad of Aram gathered his army together. There were 32 kings with him and many horses and chariots. They surrounded Samaria and attacked it.

2. The king sent messengers to King Ahab of Israel who was inside the city.

3. This was the message: 'Ben-Hadad says, 'Your silver and your gold are mine, and so are of your wives and children.''

4. అందుకు ఇశ్రాయేలు రాజునా యేలినవాడవైన రాజా, నీవిచ్చిన సెలవుప్రకారము నేనును నాకు కలిగిన సమస్తమును నీ వశమున నున్నామనిప్రత్యుత్తరమిచ్చి వారిని పంపగా

4. The king of Israel answered, 'Yes, my lord and king, I am yours now, and everything I have belongs to you.'

5. ఆ దూతలు పోయి ఆ మాట తెలియజేసి తిరిగి వచ్చిబెన్హదదు ఇట్లు సెల విచ్చుచున్నాడని తెలియజెప్పిరినీవు నీ వెండిని నీ బంగారమును నీ భార్యలను నీ పిల్లలను నాకు అప్పగింప వలెనని నేను నీయొద్దకు నా సేవకులను పంపియున్నాను.

5. Then the messengers came back to Ahab. They said, 'Ben-Hadad says, 'I told you before that all of your silver and gold and your wives and children belong to me. So give them to me!

6. రేపు ఈ వేళకు వారు నీ యింటిని నీ సేవకుల యిండ్లను పరిశోధిం చుదురు; అప్పుడు నీ కంటికి ఏది యింపుగా నుండునో దానిని వారు చేతపట్టుకొని తీసికొని పోవుదురు.

6. Tomorrow I will send my men to search through your house and through the houses of your officials. Give my men all of your valuables, and they will bring them back to me.''

7. కాగా ఇశ్రాయేలు రాజు దేశపు పెద్దలనందరిని పిలువ నంపించిబెన్హదదునీ భార్యలను పిల్లలను వెండి బంగారములను పట్టుకొందునని వర్తమానము పంపగా నేను ఇయ్యనని చెప్పలేదు; ఆ మనుష్యుడు చేయ గోరుచున్న మోసము ఎట్టిదో అది మీరు తెలిసికొనుడనెను.

7. So King Ahab called a meeting of all the elders of his country and said, 'Look, Ben-Hadad is looking for trouble. First he told me that I must give him my wives and children and my silver and gold. I agreed to give them to him.'

8. నీవతని మాట వినవద్దు, దానికి ఒప్పుకొనవద్దు అని ఆ పెద్దలును జనులందరును అతనితో చెప్పిరి,

8. But the elders and all the people said, 'Don't obey him or do what he says.'

9. గనుక అతడుమీరు రాజైన నా యేలిన వానితో తెలియజెప్పవలసినదేమనగానీవు మొదట నీ సేవకుడనైన నాకు ఇచ్చిపంపిన ఆజ్ఞను నేను తప్పక అనుసరింతును గాని, నీవిప్పుడు సెలవిచ్చిన దానిని నేను చేయలేనని బెన్హదదు దూతలతో చెప్పుడనెను. ఆ దూతలు పోయి బెన్హదదునొద్దకు వచ్చి ఆ ప్రత్యుత్తరము తెలియజేయగా

9. So Ahab sent a message to Ben-Hadad that said, 'I will do what you said at first, but I cannot obey your second command.' King Ben-Hadad's men carried the message to the king.

10. బెన్హదదు మరల అతని యొద్దకు దూతలను పంపినాతోకూడ వచ్చిన వారందరును పిడికెడు ఎత్తికొని పోవుటకు షోమ్రోను యొక్క ధూళి చాలినయెడల దేవతలు నాకు గొప్ప అపాయము కలుగజేయుదురు గాక అని వర్తమానము చేసెను.

10. Then they came back with another message from Ben-Hadad that said, 'I will completely destroy Samaria. I promise that there will be nothing left of that city! There will not be enough of that city left for my men to find any souvenirs to take home. May the gods destroy me if I don't do this!'

11. అందుకు ఇశ్రాయేలురాజుతన ఆయుధమును నడుమున బిగించుకొనువాడు దానివిప్పి తీసి వేసినవానివలె అతిశయపడకూడదని చెప్పుడనెను.

11. King Ahab answered, 'Tell Ben-Hadad that the man who puts on his armor should not boast as much as the man who lives long enough to take it off.'

12. బన్హదదును ఆ రాజులును గుడారములయందు విందు జరి గించుకొనుచుండగా, ఈ ప్రత్యుత్తరము వారికి వచ్చెను గనుక అతడు తన సేవకులను పిలిపించి యుద్ధమునకు సిద్ధ పడుడని ఆజ్ఞాపించెను. వారు సన్నద్ధులై పట్టణము ఎదుట నిలువగా

12. King Ben-Hadad was drinking in his tent with the other rulers when the messengers came back and gave him the message from King Ahab. King Ben-Hadad commanded his men to prepare to attack the city, so the men moved into their places for the battle.

13. ప్రవక్తయైన యొకడు ఇశ్రాయేలు రాజైన అహాబునొద్దకు వచ్చి అతనితో ఇట్లనెనుయెహోవా సెలవిచ్చునదేమనగాఈ గొప్ప దండంతయు నీవు చూచితివే; నేను యెహోవానని నీవు గ్రహించునట్లు నేడు దానిని నీచేతి కప్పగించెదను.

13. Then a prophet went to King Ahab and said, 'King Ahab, the Lord says to you, 'Do you see that great army? I, the Lord, will defeat that army for you today. Then you will know that I am the Lord.''

14. ఇది యెవరిచేత జరుగునని అహాబు అడుగగా అతడురాజ్యాధిపతులలో ఉన్న ¸యౌవనులచేత జరుగునని యెహోవా సెల విచ్చుచున్నాడని చెప్పెను. యుద్ధమును ఎవరు ఆరంభము చేయవలెనని రాజు అడుగగా అతడునీవే అని ప్రత్యుత్తరమిచ్చెను.

14. Ahab said, 'Who will you use to defeat them?' The prophet answered, 'The Lord says, 'The young men who carry the weapons for the government officials.'' Then the king asked, 'Who should command the main army?' The prophet answered, 'You will.'

15. So Ahab gathered the young helpers of the government officials. There were 232 of these young men. Then the king called together the army of Israel. The total number was 7000.

16. King Ahab began his attack at noon, while King Ben-Hadad and the 32 kings were drinking and getting drunk in their tents.

17. రాజ్యాధిపతులలోనున్న ఆ ¸యౌవనులు ముందుగా బయలు దేరినప్పుడు సంగతి తెలిసికొనుటకై బెన్హదదు కొందరిని పంపెను. షోమ్రోనులోనుండి కొందరు వచ్చియున్నారని బంటులు తెలియజేయగా

17. The young helpers went out first. King Ben-Hadad's men told him that some soldiers had come out of Samaria.

18. అతడువారు సమాధానముగా వచ్చినను యుద్ధము చేయ వచ్చినను వారిని సజీవులుగా పట్టుకొనిరండని ఆజ్ఞాపించెను.

18. So Ben-Hadad said, 'They might be coming to fight or they might be coming to ask for peace. Capture them alive.'

19. రాజ్యాధిపతులలోనున్న ఆ ¸యౌవనులును వారితో కూడనున్న దండువారును పట్టణములోనుండి బయలుదేరి

19. The young men of King Ahab were the first to come out, but the rest of the army of Israel was following them.

20. ప్రతివాడు తన్ను ఎదిరించిన వానిని చంపగా సిరియనులు పారిపోయిరి. ఇశ్రాయేలువారు వారిని తరుము చుండగా సిరియా రాజైన బెన్హదదు గుఱ్ఱమెక్కి రౌతులతో గూడ తప్పించుకొని పోయెను.

20. Each of the men of Israel killed the man who had come against him. So the men from Aram began to run away and the army of Israel chased them. King Ben-Hadad escaped on a horse with the chariots.

21. అంతట ఇశ్రాయేలు రాజు బయలుదేరి గుఱ్ఱములను రథములను ఓడించి సిరియనులను బహుగా హతము చేసెను.

21. King Ahab led the army and attacked all the horses and chariots. So King Ahab made the Arameans suffer a great defeat.

22. అప్పుడు ఆ ప్రవక్త ఇశ్రాయేలు రాజునొద్దకు వచ్చినీవు బలము తెచ్చుకొనుము, నీవు చేయవలసిన దానిని కనిపెట్టి యుండుము, ఏడాదినాటికి సిరియారాజు నీమీదికి మరల వచ్చునని అతనితో చెప్పెను.

22. Then the prophet went to King Ahab and said, 'The king of Aram will come back to fight again next spring. So go back and strengthen your army and make careful plans to defend yourself against him.'

23. అయితే సిరియా రాజు సేవకులు అతనితో ఈలాగు మనవి చేసిరివారి దేవతలు కొండదేవతలు గనుక వారు మనకంటె బలవంతులైరి. అయితే మనము మైదానమందు వారితో యుద్ధము చేసిన యెడల నిశ్చయముగా వారిని గెలుచుదుము.

23. King Ben-Hadad's officers said to him, 'The gods of Israel are mountain gods. We fought in a mountain area, so the Israelites won. If we fight them on level ground, we will win.

24. ఇందుకు మీరు చేయవలసిన దేమనగా, ఆ రాజులలో ఒక్కొకని వాని వాని ఆధిపత్యములోనుండి తీసివేసి వారికి బదులుగా సేనాధిపతులను నిర్ణయించి

24. Also, don't let the 32 kings command the armies. Put your commanders in charge of the armies.

25. నీవు పోగొట్టుకొనిన బలము ఎంతో అంత బలమును, గుఱ్ఱములకు గుఱ్ఱములను రథములకు రథములను లెక్కించి పోగు చేయుము; అప్పుడు మనము మైదానమునందు వారితో యుద్ధము చేసినయెడల అవశ్యముగా మనము వారిని గెలు చుదమని మనవి చేయగా అతడు వారు చెప్పిన మాట విని ఆ ప్రకారము చేసెను.

25. Let's gather an army like the one that was destroyed. Gather as many men, horses, and chariots as before, and fight the Israelites on level ground. Then we will win.' Ben-Hadad followed their advice and did what they said.

26. కాబట్టి మరుసంవత్సరము బెన్హదదు సిరియనులను సమకూర్చి లెక్కచూచి బయలుదేరి పోయి ఇశ్రాయేలువారితో యుద్ధము చేయుటకై ఆఫెకునకు వచ్చెను.

26. So in the spring, Ben-Hadad gathered the men of Aram and went to Aphek to fight against Israel.

27. ఇశ్రాయేలు వారందరును పోగు చేయబడి సిద్ధమై వారిని ఎదిరింప బయలుదేరిరి. ఇశ్రా యేలువారు మేకపిల్లల మందలు రెంటివలె వారియెదుట దిగియుండిరి గాని దేశము సిరియనులచేత కప్పబడి యుండెను.

27. The Israelites also prepared for war and went to fight the army of Aram. They made their camp opposite the camp of Aram. The Aramean soldiers filled the land, but Israel's army looked like two small flocks of goats.

28. అప్పుడు దైవజనుడైన యొకడు వచ్చి ఇశ్రా యేలు రాజుతో ఇట్లనెనుయెహోవా సెలవిచ్చున దేమనగాసిరియనులు యెహోవాకొండలకు దేవుడేగాని లోయలకు దేవుడు కాడని అనుకొందురు; అయితే నేను యెహోవానై యున్నానని మీరు తెలిసికొనునట్లు ఈ గొప్ప సమూహమంతయు నీ చేతికి అప్పగించెదను.

28. A man of God came to the king of Israel with this message: 'The Lord said, 'The people of Aram said that I, the Lord, am a god of the mountains and not a god of the valleys. So I will let you defeat this great army. Then all of you will know that I am the Lord, wherever you are!''

29. వారు ఎదురుముఖములుగా ఏడుదినములు గుడారములు వేసికొని యుండిన తరువాత ఏడవ దినమందు యుద్ధమునకు కలిసికొనగా ఇశ్రాయేలువారు ఒక దినమందే సిరియనుల కాల్బలము లక్షమందిని హతము చేసిరి.

29. The armies were camped across from each other for seven days. On the seventh day the battle began. The Israelites killed 100,000 Aramean soldiers in one day.

30. తక్కినవారు ఆఫెకు పట్టణములోనికి పారిపోగా అచ్చటనున్న యొకప్రాకారము శేషించినవారిలో ఇరువది యేడు వేలమంది మీద పడెను. బెన్హదదు పారిపోయి ఆ పట్టణమందు ప్రవేశించి ఆ యాగదులలో చొరగా

30. The survivors ran away to the city of Aphek. The wall of the city fell on 27,000 of those soldiers. Ben-Hadad also ran away to the city and hid in a room.

31. అతని సేవకులుఇశ్రాయేలు వారి రాజులు దయాపరులని మేమువింటిమి గనుక నీకు అనుకూలమైనయెడల మేము నడుమునకు గోనెలు కట్టుకొని తలమీద త్రాళ్లు వేసికొని ఇశ్రాయేలు రాజునొద్దకు పోవుదుము; అతడు నీ ప్రాణమును రక్షించు నేమో అని రాజుతో అనగా రాజు అందుకు సమ్మతించెను.

31. His servants said to him, 'We heard that the kings of Israel are merciful. Let's dress in rough cloth with ropes on our heads. Then let's go to the king of Israel. Maybe he will let us live.'

32. కావున వారు తమ నడుములకు గోనెలు కట్టుకొని తలమీద త్రాళ్లు వేసి కొని ఇశ్రాయేలు రాజునొద్దకు వచ్చినీ దాసుడైన బెన్హదదుదయచేసి నన్ను బ్రదుకనిమ్మని మనవి చేయుటకై మమ్మును పంపెనని చెప్పగా అతడుబెన్హదదు నా సహోదరుడు, అతడు ఇంకను సజీవుడై యున్నాడా అని యడిగెను.

32. They dressed in rough cloth with ropes on their heads. They came to the king of Israel. They said, 'Your servant, Ben-Hadad, says, 'Please let me live.'' Ahab said, 'Is he still alive? He is my brother. '

33. అప్పుడు ఆ మనుష్యులు సంగతి గ్రహించి అతని మనస్సు ఏలాగున నున్నదో అది నిశ్చయముగా గుర్తెరిగి ఆ మాటనుబట్టిబెన్హదదు నీకు సహోదరుడే అని చెప్పగా అతడుమీరు వెళ్లి అతనిని తోడుకొని రండనెను. బెన్హదదు తనయొద్దకు రాగా అతడు తన రథముమీద అతని ఎక్కించుకొనెను.

33. Ben-Hadad's men wanted King Ahab to say something to show that he would not kill King Ben-Hadad. When Ahab called Ben-Hadad his brother, the advisors quickly said, 'Yes! Ben-Hadad is your brother.' Ahab said, 'Bring him to me.' So Ben- Hadad came to King Ahab. King Ahab asked him to get in the chariot with him.

34. అంతట బెన్హదదుతమ తండ్రి చేతిలోనుండి నా తండ్రి తీసికొనిన పట్టణములను నేను మరల అప్పగించెదను; మరియు నా తండ్రి షోమ్రోనులో వీధులను కట్టించుకొనినట్లు దమస్కులో తమకొరకు తమరు వీధులను కట్టించు కొనవచ్చును అని అతనితో చెప్పగా అహాబు ఈ ప్రకారముగా నీతో సంధిచేసి నిన్ను పంపివేయుదునని చెప్పి అతనితో సంధిచేసి అతని పోనిచ్చెను.

34. Ben-Hadad said to him, 'Ahab, I will give you the towns that my father took from your father. And you can put shops in Damascus, as my father did in Samaria.' Ahab answered, 'If you agree to this, I will let you go free.' So the two kings made a peace agreement. Then King Ahab let King Ben-Hadad go free.

35. అంతట ప్రవక్తల శిష్యులలో ఒకడు యెహోవా ఆజ్ఞచేత తన చెలికానితోనన్ను కొట్టుమనగా అతడు అతని కొట్టుటకు ఒప్పకపోయినప్పుడు

35. One of the prophets told another prophet, 'Hit me!' He said that because the Lord had commanded it. But the other prophet refused to hit him.

36. So the first prophet said, 'You did not obey the Lord's command. So a lion will kill you when you leave this place.' When the second prophet left there, a lion killed him.

37. The first prophet went to another man and said, 'Hit me!' This man hit him and hurt the prophet.

38. So the prophet wrapped his face with a cloth. This way no one could see who he was. The prophet went and waited for the king by the road.

39. రాజు వచ్చుట చూచి బిగ్గరగా రాజుతో ఈలాగు మనవి చేసికొనెనునీ దాసుడనైన నేను యుద్ధములోనికి పోయియుండగా ఇదిగో ఒకడు ఇటు తిరిగి ఒక మనుష్యుని నాయొద్దకు తోడుకొని వచ్చి యీ మనుష్యుని కనిపెట్టుము; ఏ విధము గానైనను వాడు తప్పించుకొని పోయినయెడల వాని ప్రాణమునకు మారుగా నీ ప్రాణముపోవును; లేదా నీవు రెండు మణుగుల వెండిని ఇయ్యవలెననెను.

39. The king came by and the prophet said to him, 'I went to fight in the battle. One of our men brought an enemy soldier to me. The man said, 'Guard this man. If he runs away, you will have to give your life in his place or you will have to pay a fine of 75 pounds of silver.'

40. అయితే నీ దాసుడనైన నేను పనిమీద అక్కడక్కడ తిరుగుచుండగా వాడు కనబడకపోయెను. అప్పుడు ఇశ్రా యేలురాజునీకు నీవే తీర్పు తీర్బుకొంటివి గనుక నీవుచెప్పినట్టుగానే నీకు జరుగును అని అతనికి సెలవియ్యగా

40. While I was busy doing other things, the man ran away.' The king of Israel answered, 'You admitted that you are guilty, so you know the answer. You must do what the man said.'

41. అతడు త్వరపడి తన కండ్లమీది పాగా తీసివేయగా చూచి అతడు ప్రవక్తలలో ఒకడని రాజు పోల్చెను.

41. Then the prophet quickly took the cloth from his face, and the king of Israel saw that he was one of the prophets.

42. అప్పుడు అతడుయెహోవా సెలవిచ్చునదేమనగానేను శపించిన మనుష్యుని నీవు నీ చేతిలోనుండి తప్పించుకొని పోనిచ్చితివి గనుక వాని ప్రాణమునకు మారుగా నీ ప్రాణమును, వాని జనులకు మారుగా నీ జనులును అప్పగింప బడుదురని రాజుతో అనగా

42. Then the prophet said to the king, 'The Lord says to you, 'You set free the man I said should die. So you will take his place�you and your people will die!''

43. ఇశ్రాయేలు రాజు మూతి ముడుచు కొనిన వాడై కోపముతో షోమ్రోనులోని తన నగరునకు వచ్చెను.

43. Then the king went back home to Samaria. He was worried and upset.
